Esordisce così La vita e l'opera scientifica di Francesco Ruffini, il profilo che Gioele Solari compose nell'estate del 1934 per la Rivista internazionale del diritto. Il collega nell'Università torinese, docente di Diritto ecclesiastico, fra i professori che non giurarono fedeltà al fascismo, era da poco scomparso, in marzo. Liberale, senatore del Regno, ministro dell'Istruzione pubblica nel governo Boselli (1916-1917). Tra le sue opere: Diritti di libertà (Gobetti editore), La libertà religiosa (un'edizione sarà curata da Jemolo, l'allievo prediletto), Studi sul giansenismo, La vita religiosa di Alessandro Manzoni, La giovinezza di Cavour. “Storico fu e volle essere il Ruffini – ricordava Gioele Solari – e dello storico ebbe in alto grado la passione, l'insoddisfazione, la pazienza della ricerca, l'ossessione del nuovo, lo scrupolo dell'oggettività, il disinteresse eroico”.Gioele Solari, giurista e filosofo, nacque ad Albino (Bergamo) nel 1872 e morì a Torino nel 1952. Qui conseguì tre lauree: in Giurisprudenza, in Lettere e in Filosofia. Allievo di Giuseppe Carle, fu docente di Filosofia del diritto dal 1918 al 1948. Alla sua scuola, nel segno dell'”idealismo sociale”, si formarono, tra gli altri, Piero Gobetti, Alessandro Passerin d'Entreves, Norberto Bobbio, Luigi Firpo, Renato Treves,  Aldo Mautino. Tra le sue opere:  La scuola del diritto naturale nelle dottrine etico-giuridiche dei secoli XVII e XVIII, L'idea individuale e l'idea sociale nel diritto privato, Studi storici di filosofia del diritto. “Egli fu – così lo ricordava Bobbio, che ne ereditò la cattedra – un devoto dell'imperativo categorico, che non prescrive altra condotta che quella assunta per libera decisione nel rispetto del dovere morale. In this episode of Moto Moms we talk to Lisa DiFrancesco, mom to Ryder DiFrancesco. We discuss Ryder's amateur career, pressures of racing, going pro, and more.

Ron DiFrancesco moved to the New York City area in 2000 to take an investment job with a firm based in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. He was already at work on September 11, 2001, when the first plane hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists struck the North Tower. People working in the South Tower were immediately told their building was fine and they should continue working. Soon a friend called DiFrancesco and urged him to evacuate. Just moments after leaving the spot where he had been working, a wing from United Airlines Flight 175 sliced through the office.In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," DiFrancesco describes the horrors of what he saw happening in the North Tower after it was struck and before the South Tower was hit. He then walks us through the impact of the jetliner hitting his building, the intitially futile efforts to get downstairs and the "voice" that guided him to an exit that could get him away from all the debilitating smoke. DiFrancesco tells us about getting to the lobby, where he was directed to go, and the last thing he remembers as the South Tower came down. Some experts later concluded he was likely the last person to get out of the World Trade Center alive.He also discusses the injuries he suffered while getting out and the severe mental and emotional trauma that he and his family then endured for an extended time. DiFrancesco explains why he later decided to start speaking publicly about the horrific ordeal he endured.
