Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.Carlo Ancelotti will be taking over the Brazilian national team, the first time they have had a permanent foreign manager ever. He has a lot of work to do as Brazil is in a qualification spot for the 2026 World Cup, but it is not guaranteed. There are lots of questions about the squad at the moment, but defense is a glaring issue. Tite's teams gave up 30 goals from 2016-2022, the team has given up 31 goals since the start of 2023. One thing going for Brazil, the only time they won the World Cup as the favorite was in Chile in 1962. Even at that one, they had to overcome an injury to Pele that knocked him out of the tournament. Right now, they won't be a favorite in 2026.As the seasons wind down in Europe, silly season ramps up. It's even sillier because of the Club World Cup this summer as teams jockey to get spots filled ahead of the tournament while others look ahead to next season. Kevin De Bruyne is not a sure thing for the Chicago Fire at this point as Napoli want to bring him in. Jonathan Tah is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer and join Bayern Munich. One of the players he is expected to replace is Eric Dier, who will leave on a free for Monaco in France, but maybe not until after the end of the Club World Cup as Bayern could do a short term contract with Dier for the tournament. His contract with Bayern ends on June 30, around the end of the group stage. On the manager front, Cesc Fabregas is going to stay at Como in Italy rather than replace Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen according to Italian reports. Erik Ten Hag has also been linked with the Leverkusen job. Davide Ancelotti is reportedly going to Glasgow to join Rangers as their new manager, following helping his father with the first two Brazil World Cup qualifiers in June. Two clubs in the Club World Cup also need new managers and both have been linked to the Argentine Gabriel Milito. Boca Juniors is likely the front runner to get him as he is in Buenos Aires currently. They are still in the Argentine playoffs and will host Independiente next in the quarterfinals. Monterrey also are linked with Milito, but TUDN has four other names in their sights. Matías Almeyda and Dome Torrent, both with MLS experience, are in the mix along with Argentines Hernán Crespo and Eduardo Domínguez (currently with Estudiantes). John Textor wants to convince Thiago Almada of returning to Botafogo for the Club World Cup but with Almada not having a break since the 2023-2024 MLS offseason, he is reluctant to do it. Technically, he's still a Botafogo player on loan to Lyon so things could get interesting. Textor owns both clubs and has some looming financial decisions to make surrounding all of his clubs. Pachuca won their first ever Liga MX Femenil title last night, 3-2 on aggregate over Club America. Their 3-0 lead from the first leg held up, even after losing 2-0 in the second leg. They will be part of the 2025 Concacaf W Champions Cup later this year. Full schedule in MLS tomorrow night. Atlanta United's match in Austin has been delayed by 30 minutes as the high temperature tomorrow is set to be 105. Stay tuned for any further changes. We'll be on the ground in Austin later today and be on the lookout for updates from the SDH Network and from our soccer coverage on 92.9 The Game. Atlanta Soccer Tonight will air tonight at 11pm.No Espresso in its normal form on Wednesday or Thursday due to travel, but stay tuned for other updates (follow @SoccerDownHere on social media platforms, subscribe on our YouTube channel) between now and the Friday edition.

Bayern Munich just saw the Bundesliga title slip from their grasp at the last possible second against RB Leipzig. Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. In this episode Danny breaks down this rollercoaster match from top to bottom. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel for full coverage of the remainder of the football season, all the news, trophy celebrations, and community you can image. Bayern Munich faced off against RB Leipzig with a chance to become champions of the Bundesliga with a win. Instead we got a crazy 3-3 draw with plenty of lows and then highs and then a final second stoppage time goal to halt the already begun celebrations. Danny takes to the mic with emotions running high to break down Vincent Kompany's lineup (yes Harry Kane was suspended), tactics, player performances, and all the match highlights/lowlights. An early defensive miscommunication and collapse from Bayern saw keeper Jonas Urbig far off his line setting up a simple Benjamin Sesko goal which was followed by another Leipzig goal sending them off to a blazing 2-0 start. In the second half Bayern Munich scored two goals in less than a minute to equalize. Eric Dier's header assisted by a Michael Olise corner and then Olise getting a goal himself assisted by Serge Gnabry. Finally, late in the match Leroy Sane scored what was seemingly the Bundesliga dagger in the 83 minute from a Joshua Kimmich assist flick. Players and Vincent Kompany himself were beginning title celebrations after 4 minutes of added stoppage time when Kingsley Coman failed to clear a ball in the box and Yussuf Poulsen chipped an equalizer over Urbig in the 95th minute. A single point in this match was enough to guarantee at best Bayer Leverkusen can equal Bayern Munich in points and the Bavarians hold a 30 goal lead in goal differential. The title is all but theirs but mathematically nothing can be awarded until either Leverkusen loses or draws to SC Freiburg or Bayern Munich beats or draws to Borussia Mönchengladbach next week at the Allianz Arena. Be sure to tune back in for a BIG celebration next weekend. Until then Mia San Mia. Subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! Thanks for listening/watching. Manu and Stefan were back for the Bundesliga preview show (a day late due to travel), and there's plenty to unpack. Here's your weekly conversation-style recap from the pod: Bayern on the Brink (Without Kane) Manu: “This could be it — if Bayern beat Leipzig, they win the title.” Stefan: “And Harry Kane won't be on the pitch, which just writes its own jokes.” Still, Kane and Eric Dier will get their first career trophies if Bayern wrap it up. Stefan joked Dier could do a John Terry and show up in full kit at full-time. Stefan: “Bayern won't delay the title for sentimental reasons. They'll get it done.” Both agree this season's been mixed for Bayern, but Kompany has done the job that matters: reclaiming the Bundesliga title. Leipzig's Squeaky-Bum Time Manu: “This game is massive for Leipzig. If they don't get a result, Champions League football could be gone.” Stefan: “They're up against it. Orban and Gulácsi are out. Without them, they're hopeless.” Leipzig are under pressure from Dortmund and Freiburg. Without Champions League qualification, they may need to sell key players like Xavi Simons. Stefan: “They've been sleepwalking for years. Leverkusen's rise is forcing them to wake up.” Manu: “The issue isn't ambition. It's their failure to find the right formula.” The coaching situation is also in focus. Manu and Stefan suggest Leipzig need to make a bold hire — maybe Sandro Wagner or Cesc Fàbregas. Freiburg's Big Chance Manu: “If Freiburg beat Leverkusen and Leipzig lose, the door to the Champions League really opens.” Stefan: “Julian Schuster has actually improved on Streich's work.” Freiburg are two points ahead of Leipzig. Despite struggling against top-four teams this season, they have a chance to change that now. Stefan: “They need to break the curse. If you want to be top four, you have to beat top-four clubs.” They've signed a replacement for Ritsu Doan and could have Noah Atubolu back in goal — a major boost. Manu also explained why Freiburg shouldn't be considered a small club anymore. Manu: “Freiburg's greater metro area is bigger than Dortmund. They're a sleeping giant with real infrastructure now.”

Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. ONE MORE WIN is all it will take for Bayern Munich to win the Bundesliga this season after beating Mainz 05 by a convincing score of 3-0. Chelsea also beat Everton 1-0 in an important English Premiere League match. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel to join the community and stay tuned with how the season shapes up. We kick this episode off by discussing Chelsea's big time EPL 1-0 win over Everton. It wasn't the most interesting match but a win is a win at this crucial point in the season. We break down Enzo Maresca's prematch comments, his lineup/tactics, match highlights, and player performances. Nicolas Jackson scored the lone goal of the match and was assisted by Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea was setup a bit differently in this match and we talk about what they should look like going forward for the remainder of the season. We break down Chelsea's remaining EPL and Conference League matches and what we're looking for out of them. Next up is Bayern Munich beating Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga 3-0. It was an overall great performance from the Bavarians but a win for Bayer Leverkusen over FC Augsburg means that the league will not be decided today. Bayern Munich needs one more win in their remaining three matches to clinch the league title. This could happen as early as next week away at RB Leipzig. We take a look at today's match by talking about both teams under Bo Henriksen and Vincent Kompany so far this season, lineups, tactics, match highlights, and player performances. Leroy Sane, Michael Olise, and Eric Dier scored for Bayern Munich with Olise and Konrad Laimer picking up assists. The dark stain on an otherwise great day was a wrongly award yellow card to Harry Kane. This being Kane's 5th yellow card of the season (and no reset rule like other leagues have) means that Kane will miss next weeks potentially title clinching matchup with a suspension. We talk about how special Jonas Urbig has been so far filling in for an injured Manuel Neuer with another clean sheet and we talk in more detail how players like Dier, Laimer, and Olise have really stepped up in key moments this season. Finally, this match was special was it saw the league debut for Jonah Kusi-Asare as well as Thomas Muller's 500th Bundesliga appearance. Welcome back to the Always Bayern Chelsea show for an emotionally charged VIDEO episode. Recorded shortly after Bayern Munich's elimination from the Champions League, Danny takes to the mic with his break down and reaction. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel to check out all of our video episodes and stay up to date with the latest coverage of everything Bayern Munich and Chelsea football club. This one stings. Bayern Munich traveled to Milan and put up a valiant effort at San Siro, only to come up short with a 2-2 draw. This means that they have been defeated 4-3 on aggregate over two legs to Inter Milan and will not be advancing to the UCL semifinals against Hansi Flick's Barcelona. Their dreams of UCL glory at home in the Allianz Arena for Thomas Muller's final season with the club have been shattered. Danny does a deep dive into the match and tries to figure out where things went wrong. He looks at the events leading up to the match, key injuries, Muller not starting last week, missed chances, foolish concessions, and overall fatigue. He breaks down Vincent Kompany's starting lineup, tactics, all of the match highlights, individual player performances, and hands out match awards. Danny tries to process all of the raw emotions from the match. Harry Kane scored the opening goal of the match assisted by Leon Goretzka and Eric Dier scored Bayern's final goal, assisted by Serge Gnabry. Danny passionately defends Harry Kane from the hate he wrongly receives even after showing up big once again in the UCL knockout match for Bayern Munich. He even talks about expectations and how head coach Vincent Kompany is handling the season so far as a whole. There's still a Bundesliga title to be won and Bayern Munich is already back in action on Saturday against Heidenheim. Stay tuned for full match coverage and more. Welcome to the 64th episode of the Always Bayern Chelsea show. This one is another glorious VIDEO episode so be sure to check it out on the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel. We're nearing 100 subscribers so please subscribe and stay tuned for something special there. After a brief introduction, we jump into discussing the weekend matches beginning with Bayern Munich's shaky but important 2-1 victory at Freiburg. We breakdown Vincent Kompany's lineup and tactics as these strayed from normal in some key ways. We also review all of the match highlights and player performances including some key injuries. Harry Kane opened things up with a stunning goal assisted by his countryman and buddy Eric Dier. Kim Minjae scored Bayern's second goal off of an assist from Joshua Kimmich on a well placed corner and we can't forget to hand out our match awards. We close off our match review by talking about how Bayern's form of late is not inspiring confidence, including the disappointing wing play as well as defensive lapses. This leads us perfectly into a broader conversation on the Champions League as Bayer faces off against Slovan Bratislava in a midweek UCL match. Now on to Chelsea and their not good performance against Manchester City losing 1-3 on Saturday. We take a look at Enzo Maresca's lineup, tactics, player performances, and match highlights. Noni Madueke scored Chelsea's only goal while Nicolas Jackson got the assist. We take a long hard look at Enzo Maresca, how he may be manifesting a losing mentality, including how some players are responding to this, and overall where Chelsea can go from here. Chelsea is back in action in the English Premiere League on Monday 2/3 against West Ham and have a lot of soul searching to do in the meantime. Subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! That was almost a disaster. Vincent Kompany must have breathed a sigh of relief when Bayern Munich just barely managed to scrape a 3-2 win against VfL Wolfsburg on his Bundesliga debut. Still, the performance raises several uncomfortable questions about the coach, the squad, and especially the board. In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following: Our first impressions of Vincent Kompany's Bundesliga debut. An analysis of the lineup — where was Thomas Müller? Why Alphonso Davies? Why not Eric Dier? So many questionable choices. How is the performance principle being applied? Why did Vincent Kompany ignore certain players? How Kompany managed the game (including subs). Looking at each and every single player individually and what they brought to the table. Why did Harry Kane look better in the second half? Jamal Musiala remains misused. Joshua Kimmich's enigmatic midfield performance. The disasterclass by Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae — why does it keep happening? Selling Matthijs de Ligt was clearly a mistake. What do we do now? Compare and contrast to Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona. Did Bayern make a mistake by rejecting Flick? Would Flick have done a better job by now? Where does Kompany go from here? What happens to Eberl and co. if he fails? Ending the podcast on a somewhat optimistic note.
