Send us a Text Message. In this episode of "2 Giant Goofballs: A New York Giants Podcast," Drew and Rob dive deep into the highs and lows of the Giants' preseason Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans. The hosts break down the latest news, updates, and roster moves, offering their signature blend of insightful analysis and humorous banter that keeps Giants fans coming back for more. The episode kicks off with a detailed reaction to Daniel Jones' performance, where the franchise quarterback had a rough outing, going 11/18 for 138 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Drew and Rob critique Jones' decision-making, especially his first interception that resulted in a pick-six. They discuss the impact of these mistakes and what it means for the Giants moving forward, emphasizing the need for Jones to regain his form as the regular season approaches. The hosts then shift their focus to the standout play of Elijah Chatman, the undrafted rookie who has been making waves this preseason. After a strong performance last week, Chatman impressed again by chasing down Texans RB JJ Taylor, showcasing speed and determination rarely seen in undrafted players. Drew and Rob discuss how Chatman's effort likely earned him a spot on the final roster.Ball security is a major concern for the Giants, as they committed five turnovers in the game—four fumbles and two interceptions. Drew and Rob analyze each turnover, expressing their concerns about the team's ability to protect the ball and how this could be a significant issue if not addressed before the regular season. The running back situation is also under the microscope, with Devin Singletary, Eric Gray, Lorenzo Lingard, and Joshua Kelley all seeing action. The hosts critique Singletary's lackluster performance, praise Gray's continued improvement, and express disappointment in Lingard's costly fumble. They also consider what the future holds for these backs as the competition for roster spots heats up.Darius Slayton continues to prove his value to the Giants, making three catches for 59 yards, including a 44-yard bomb. Drew and Rob highlight Slayton's underrated role on the team and his strong rapport with Daniel Jones, making a case for why he should be a key part of the Giants' offense moving forward. The episode concludes with an overview of the latest Giants roster moves, including the waiving of Ryder Anderson, Yodny Cajuste's move to IR, and the signing of defensive tackle Kyler Baugh and linebacker Trey Kiser. Drew and Rob discuss what these moves mean for the team's depth and speculate on possible future signings as the Giants create additional cap space. From quarterback struggles to standout performances and critical roster updates, this episode offers a comprehensive look at where the Giants stand as they prepare for the regular season. Send us a Text Message.Drew Lock is confident he'll be ready for the season opener, assuring everyone there's "no worry" about his readiness for Week 1. Though he's already back to throwing, he admits he's not launching 60- or 70-yard passes yet. If healthy, Lock is expected to be the QB2, primarily due to his contract, but it remains to be seen whether Tommy DeVito will also stay on the roster.Lock also addressed the boos he received when he threw an interception and Tommy DeVito replaced him during a game. He acknowledged the crowd's reaction, attributing it to his mistake and praising DeVito's performance last season. Lock's attitude is fitting for New York—taking responsibility and moving forward, recognizing that fans can overreact during preseason, especially with new players. In other news, Tyree Jackson, a converted tight end who played quarterback at Buffalo, is being listed as the emergency QB for the Giants in their game against the Texans. Though unlikely to make the final roster, Jackson's role highlights the experimental nature of preseason, where teams explore different options before the regular season begins.Daniel Jones is expected to start against the Texans in what will be his first game action since his ACL injury. While his performance will undoubtedly be scrutinized, it's important to remember that this is just a preseason game, and Week 1 will provide a clearer picture of what lies ahead.Malik Nabers has suffered a left ankle sprain, though a fracture was avoided. He's listed as day-to-day, with the coaching staff planning to ease him back into practice as he recovers.Starting cornerback Cor'Dale Flott is dealing with a quad injury and will miss the upcoming week, opening the door for players like Nick McCloud to compete for his spot. Meanwhile, Dyontae Johnson, who shined during the preseason win against the Lions with a sack and two tackles for loss, is now week-to-week with a sprained ankle, which could impact his chances of making the roster.Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz are back in practice, with Neal expressing his willingness to embrace any role the team has for him, including as a backup or even a guard. Schmitz, initially limited to individual drills, is also expected to play against the Texans, as live game reps are crucial for the starting offensive line to build familiarity. In roster moves, the Giants have signed RB Lorenzo Lingard and waived Jacob Saylors. Lingard, a UDFA out of Akron, faces stiff competition in a crowded backfield and is unlikely to make the roster. The Giants also signed LB K.J. Cloyd while waiving CB Kaleb Hayes. Cloyd, who was originally signed by the Vikings, might find a spot on the practice squad, especially with the recent injuries at linebacker. The Giants' Madden 25 ratings werFarrell Sports BusinessInterviews with unicorns from sports business and their career pathsListen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Synopsis In the 19th century, much like today, New Yorkers looking for musical entertainment had a lot to choose from. For example, on today's date in 1871, the options included these three offerings: First: at Lina Edwin's Theater, a musical burlesque entitled “Pluto,” which The New York Times billed as an “Anglicized and condensed” version of Jacques Offenbach's racy operetta, “Orpheus in the Underworld,” with interpolated comic sketches and monologues by the show's star, the Jerry Seinfeld of the day, the ever-popular comedian Mr. Lingard . Second: for the more serious sort, the American staged premiere of Richard Wagner's opera, “Lohengrin,” at the Stadt Theater. The Times noted that Wagner's opera was (quote) “brought out in Germany some 20 years earlier but was unknown here in its entirety until now.” A large audience showed up for the “entirety” of “Lohengrin,” which lasted over four hours and ended around midnight. Finally: at Broadway's Minstrel Hall, directly from Japan, Satsuma's Circus offered the amazing Mr. Yadunochi, who first smoked a pipe, then ate it, then while playing on a flute expelled the pipe's smoke through his instrument; for his finale, Mr. Yadunochi reproduced, as the Times put it “the original pipe whole and unsullied.” Now, THAT'S entertainment! What is "Drake's Curse" In Football And Is He Really That Bad For Football Teams?

For some years now, the unspoken rule has been to not allow superstar Canadian musician, Drake, near your football team, jersey, or star player. His songs may have gone gold hundreds of times, but when it comes to football, virtually everything he touches turns to the opposite of gold. Or so it seems. Back in 2019, PSG defender, Kurzawa, was pictured with Drake before a league game against Lille. PSG, who went into that game as clear favorites, ended up losing 5-1. That same year, the musician met with Sergio Aguero who took a picture with him and handed him his jersey. Then boom! Days later, he misses a penalty against Spurs in the Champions League quarter-final, and City are ultimately ousted from the tournament in very shocking fashion. The curse also hit the other half of Manchester that same year. The Grammy winner met with Pogba, Lingard, and Rashford on the same day in early 2019. A triple threat? Surely it was going to work a treat. Man United's next game was the FA Cup quarter-final against Wolves, and if you remember, Wolves sent them packing after beating them 2 goals to 1. Aubameyang was the one who brought the curse to London after he attended a Drake concert at the 02 arena and met with the Canadian superstar. Of course, Arsenal lost their next game 1-nil to Everton. In April of 2019, the curse landed in Germany. Drake met with Jadon Sancho, who you know was playing for Dortmund back then. At the time, Dortmund were at the top of the league going into a very important game against Bayern. The picture of Drake and Sancho circulated the internet, and days after, Bayern annihilated Dortmund 5-nil and went on to win the Bundesliga title yet again.

Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira have 120 minutes of Galaxy-talk on the way for you because there was only one show this week, thanks to some weird game schedules. So on a Wednesday night, we bring you all the hectic Galaxy news you need to know. The guys will start by talking to TheStriker.com's Managing Editor Phil West about how that subscription-based service is coming to Los Angeles. And why they think LA is the perfect place to expand their coverage outside of Texas. Then Josh and Eric want to break down the 4-4-2 and talk about the 4-0 win over Montreal. How did Javier Hernandez and Dejan Joveljic play together? And why will Greg Vanney use that formation sparingly? Plus, did a meeting with Efrain Alvarez point the youngster in the right direction? Will his aggressive game against Montreal be the stepping stone to a longer MLS career? Then the guys want to talk about the transfer rumors that saw Uruguayan defensive midfielder Gaston Brugman sign with the team on Wednesday and why Jesse Lingard rumors aren't fake. But can the Galaxy get him over the line? And is this simply a reaction to LAFC signing Gareth Bale? And Josh will kill some other rumors that have been hanging around while passing down some of the conversations that were had with Vanney over a long sit-down on Saturday afternoon. Finally, Josh and Eric will get you ready for El Trafico on Friday night and tell you why the Galaxy have the least amount of pressure they've had going into one of these games in a while. Can the "mental midgets" finally pressure the Galaxy in a game this year?
