This is the stuff that dreams are made of! Hunter and Jessica made a pilgrimage to Rancho Obi-Wan in Petaluma, CA. After watching from afar for so long, we finally made it. It was amazing, wonderful, interesting, overwhelming and an overall incredible experience. Worth a Saturday trip for sure! If you've read this far and you've never been, I'd plan a trip immediately!
Some where along the lines we forgot to post this - so if you're holding your breath for our #7 review, you're in luck!
In this episode of The Purrgil Pod, Jessica and Hunter are back to dissect Episode Six of Skeleton Crew. Buckle up, because this episode is a wild ride through a junkyard planet, complete with terrifying trash creatures and some serious character development for the young Jedi. ●They'll ponder KB's robot-like enhancements (is she more cyborg than human?) and how they might be affecting her friendships (Cue the tiny violins. For real.). ●Get ready to witness Fern's journey from bossy friend to supportive teammate—it's a heartwarming transformation! ●And, of course, they'll marvel at Wim's incredible skills, which are so impressive they even earn him the title of "Jedi"! (Is he the real hero of this story?) But that's not all! Jessica and Hunter also: ●Debate whether the show is truly meant for kids (spoiler alert: some parts are downright scary!). ●Compare the episode to classic films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter (because who doesn't love a good pop culture reference?). ●And, most importantly, unleash their wild predictions for the final two episodes, including a cameo appearance that will leave you screaming, "This is the Way!" So grab your blue milk, settle in, and get ready for another hilarious and insightful episode of The Purrgil Pod!
The Purrgil Pod Discusses Skeleton Crew Join Hunter and Jessica as they dive into the first two episodes of the new Disney+ series Skeleton Crew! Hunter is ready to catch all the Easter eggs, while Jessica admits she wasn't immediately sold on the show. Together, they analyze the pilot episodes, comparing the characters and plot to classic '80s movies like The Goonies, E.T., and Flight of the Navigator. The hosts discuss the mysterious opening scene, the quirky characters, and the intriguing setting of the seemingly isolated planet At Attin. They debate the significance of the planet's barrier, the unique green milk, and the strange credit system. Was that a Star Tours droid they saw? Could Jud Law's character be a Jedi in disguise? And what's the deal with those Old Republic credits? Tune in to hear Hunter and Jessica's theories and find out if their excitement for the series grows after these initial episodes! They promise a shorter episode next week as they discuss the third installment of Skeleton Crew.
Well, here we are at the end of The Acolyte. It was a heck of a ride but aren't we right back right where we started, with the twins swapping place, minus a truck load of Jedi and add in a Senate review? It was a strange path to get here and I'm sorry we didn't get to spend more time with the Jedi we lost. Indara, Kelnacca, Torbin, Sol, Yord, Jecki.... I will miss them.
Who is the Acolyte? Darryl, our amazing editor, has a HOT TAKE on just who he thinks is the Acolyte and I must say, it is plausable. With all the "captain obvious" writing so far, to pull a fast one would be the best redemption. Hunter and Jessica sit down to discuss this episode, and a few other Star Wars related things along the way. Just remember, it all goes back to Purrgils!
It doesn't take long for the parent trap to fall apart. I don't think Qimir was confused for a second but it did take Sol a moment or two. Thanks to Bazil and Pip! So, who is being taught and who is being corrupted? Which side is right? Which side is wrong?
Well, here we are at Night. Nothing good happens at 3am. Nothing. This is why everyone is just doomed right from the start. It's a Jedi shish-ka-bob of the worst kid, with a Parent Trap at the end and a mole/tracker dude who can sniff out the difference. If the identity of the "stranger" wasn't the mystery, what is? Yet again leaving us with more questions than answers, this episode is not easy to swallow. What is so bad that Sol can't bring himself to share? In other news, happy 50th to the Purrgil Pod! Congrats Hunter and Jessica!
Day will eventually turn into night but not before we set the stage for Qimir to be the dark lord? Or is he? Osha and Jecki share a moment talking about death, ya, that sounds fun. Speaking of dead, RIP Kelnacca. I so wanted to see more of you! And all of this ends with the classic cliff-hanger that we've come to love in episodic Star Wars. Up next: sure hope "Night" will be kind to our Jedi...
This episode really left us with more questions than answers! Even though it was meant to be a backstory, we're still wondering about the WHOLE backstory. Nonetheless, we uncovered thrilling details about Osha, Mae, and the Mothers on Brendock. From a new ceremony to the extraordinary powers of the twins, it was an episode packed with surprises. The themes of friendship, betrayal, and the characters' pursuit of their own destinies kept us glued to the screen. In the end, Osha sets a course for Courscant, leaving Mae behind on Brendock, adding an exciting twist to the plot! But exactly which point of view was this from?
Welcome to a new era of Star Wars! This week we have a special guest when our editor supreme Darryl takes to the mic to give us some High Republic way-back story. Then we dive head-first into the Acolyte to discover this new world. Biggest questions of the day? Who doesn't love a shirtless Jedi steaming his robes? Where is the Sith? And did we already meet him/her? Join us as we break it down, Purrgil style!
Night has arrived and turned into some intense light saber action where, unfortunately, what Qui Gon said ends up being true: They all have to die. Not for the faint of heart, this episode sees some tremendous loss and the ultimate twin deception. We still have Sol but RIP to Yord and Jecki and all the other Jedi. Now it seems Bazil is the only other one who knows the secret.
Next to last - we are all scared to lose any member of the Bad Batch. The pieces are all on the chessboard. How will we wrap this up in one episode?
I'm not crying, you're crying. We say goodbye to our friends the Bad Batch in this series finale episode, The Cavalry Has Arrived. Seems the squad has chosen family and freedom, showcasing their loyalty to one another. We see a few characters exit, and at least one with spin-off possibilities (yes, please!). A fitting end to the most emotionally attached programming from Lucas Film to date. In Dave Filoni, we trust. Happy May the Fourth!
Who would have thought Rampart would play the straight man to the Bad Batch's comedic genius? At least this one had some light elements to it. And who wants to hang with Wrecker scrolling on their devices? I do! This episode was a return to the familiar by-the-skin-of-their-teeth "I can't believe they got away with it" programming. Thank goodness! And who would have thought Omega would become the rebel bad a$$ she has become. 2 more episodes to go. The run time for the last one must be 120 minutes!
This was a hard one, folks. That one-two gut punch of Episodes 10 and 11 were hard to get through. This isn't for kids, that's for sure. We're marching towards Palpatine cloning himself at the expense of anyone and anything that may be able to help him. And Hemlock is just as bad. This is evil beyond evil - the stuff we don't like living rent free in our brains. Still, we slog thru it and get to episode 12. I'm ready for the happily ever after, how about you?
Our old friend Fennec is back with information for our friends Hunter and Wrecker, or is she? While our BB friends help Fennec take down an evil Praying Mantis, she promises some information on this mysterous M-count. So mysterous in fact that I FORGOT to publish this last week. Apologies to Darryl, our epic editor. Do or do not, there is no try.
Somehow, Ventress lives! Continuing the saga of how characters are seemingly left for dead, only to return and pronounce "I've got a few lives left!" We can't wait to see where this goes and where Omega ends up. This unlikely pairing is just the duo we need to propel us from Bad Batch to the Omega show. Bring it on!
The redemption of Cross Hair and the Return of Rex and Wolfe! 3 amazing episodes and we cover it all! Why is it always another space monster? Thank you, Wrecker! And Rex proves, once again, what a leader he is. Oh, and Batcher climbs ladders. Join us!
We loved this episode and it shows! Join Hunter and Jessica as we delve into this episode scene by scene and explore all the questions you may be having like "Why the one glove, Hemlock?", "Why the long face Nala Se?", "Aren't you a little big to be a pet dog?" and "Why are Hunter and Wrecker staring a Crosshair?". Did this episode make you laugh? It made us laugh! Stow it!

Well, we made it to the end of the season - not the series. There is no way this is the end. This episode asked more questions than answered them. What? All this and more - join us! FB: The Purrgil Pod ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com
Hera's on trial? Leia (via C-3PO) saves her? And she warns the simply dressed Mon that Thrawn is a very real threat! As the season comes to a close, what did we resolve, what is left open? Was this a satisfying end for Season 3? Does Din prefer sweet tea or beer? The Spies - who are the spies?? This episode brings the best from many of the open story lines and we have a lot to say about it - from the return of The Mof, the continuation of Elia Kane, the Mandos, Nevarro and the best invention of IG-Grogu Yes! No! (otherwise known as IG-12!), a Pirates of the Caribbean montage, quiet moments where Din professes his love to Bo, ok, well, he didn't exactly say those words, he did pledge to support her "until her song was written" !!! and another crazy mountain monster!!! Hold on to your hats as we dive into this episode and prepare to roll into the final episode of the season. Join us! We have a Facebook group The Purrgil Pod or email ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com This Is The Way!!!
Romeo and Juliette meets Alice in Wonderland meets Scooby Doo meets Mandalorians hanging out and playing catch!?!?!? Give it up to Bryce Dallas Howard for bringing the ridiculous to life in this cameo-filled episode that gave us an absurd amount of frolic while also advancing the plot along the way. And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids!! What does this mean to the overall Mando arc? Where do we go from here? Our guesses are as good as yours. And while we were at it, let's talk a little Celebration 2023 love. This episode was recorded on the first day of Celebration. Enjoy! Join us and share the love - find us on Facebook The Purrgil Pod or send us a note thru the interwebs at ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com Kudos to Darryl for all the editing - we love you! Full-on Mando madness continues here at the Purrgil Pod. This week we talk about Manadalorian S3E5 as Jessica does her best to get Hunter's approval of the episode from a 4/10 to an 8/10! We talk pirates with muppet mouths, the Leia maneuver, pockets of fomenting and Jeremy Bulloch. Then we talk about the season cliff hanger of Bad Batch where we decided that Tech is still alive and once Omega escapes Mt. Tantiss, they all go back to Pabu to live happily ever after. Right, that's what happens, right? Tell me I'm right! I can't live without another Bad Batch season - Celebration Gods, please announce a Season 3!!! Join the discussion - FB The Purrgil Pod. Or maybe you're shy? Say hi at ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com See you next week!
It's an all-out FREAK OUT for Mando this week. What the what? We find out who saved Grogu from Order 66 and it couldn't have been any better and in the history of perfect episodes, this one is TOPS! Rumor has it Jessica is still trying to collect herself. A crazy whirlwind of a Mando episode and then The Tipping Point where Crosshair tries (succeeds?) to redeem himself in between (trigger) torture scenes. While Hunter admires the ships, Jessica is shielding her eyes, traumatized from the abject violence in this BB episode. 2 more BB left. Next week will be a rollercoaster for sure. And we'll be right here to discuss every. Single. Scene! Join the conversation! The Purrgil Pod FB Group or ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com. Leave us a review! Give us 5-stars! And we'll see you here next week!
These two episodes couldn't be any more different if Dave and John tried. While The Outpost is the dark and gritty tale of Crosshair finally seeing the light, is it too late for him? Why did it have to be so....sad? Compared to Pabu, which is about the lightest episode we've seen, and the BB's version of rainbows and unicorns...when will the other shoe of the Empire drop on them? Why does Phee live here? So many questions... Give us a review, 5 stars would be oh, so, kind!~. Find us on FB with our FB Group, The Purrgil Pod. If email is more your thing, we'd love to hear from you ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com
Mando-mania all around here - we've got something for everyone - from the dreadful Spider Tank to the Mando and Bo romance sub-plot, to an episode of Andor, and one too many "This is the Way"s for Bo! #PogSoupForBatuu is our mantra these days. Another truly zany breakdown of Bad Batch Season 2 Episodes 9, 10 and 11 where we question the titles in relation to the episode and compare them to Oliver Twist and Indiana Jones, among other things. Why was Omega having such a hard day? Did Tech grow a heart? Why was Jango Fett lacking so much in Emotional Intelligence? These clones need to get with it! Stockholm syndrome anyone? Join us for all this and MORE! (we may also talk about Purrgils!) Facebook: The Purrgil Pod Email: ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com Leave us 5-stars! Tell your friends! Write a review!
You can imagine all the anticipation leading up to the Mando season 3 premier, and then to have PURRGILS 10 minutes into the episode - our minds are BLOWN. Long live the Purrgils! Yes! We are back to some AWESOME Star Wars story telling! Clone rights, political back-stabbing, do-good senators and take-your-orphaned-clone to work day! What's not to love? What do Indiana Jones, Speed Racer and the cutest wookie ever have in common? You guessed it, Bad Batch! In this episode, Jessica and Hunter run down episodes 4, 5 and 6 in the Bad Batch, the good, the bad and the super cute! C'mon. Jedi Wookie. You can't get much better than that! Well, may Omega communing with the Trees, that was super cute as well. Join us! We have a Facebook group called The Purrgil Pod, or drop us a note at ThePurrgilPod@gmail.com. Thanks for tuning in!
Here we are at episode 3 of the Bad Batch - Solitary Clone. As usual, Jessica and Hunter digress early on, get all the names wrong, and somehow manage to still review the episode and throw in a Shrek reference for good measure. We ask, does Crosshair actually have a soul? And what's this "Ghost Track 17" thing? Hunter had a great guess which is now on record. Time will tell if he's right! Join the lunacy with our FB group The Purrgil Pod or email us at thepurrgilpod@gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by!
