Justin reviews "Chapter 7: Call to Oblivion" and "Chapter 8: The Creeping Fear" of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, streaming now on Disney+!The Empire tightens its grip on Janix as a second Inquisitor — the Eleventh Brother — joins Marrok in the hunt. Maul's crew fractures under the pressure, with betrayal and tragedy hitting the Shadow Collective hard. Then, in episode 8, Maul is forced to confront something far more dangerous than any Inquisitor: his own past. Meanwhile, Devon is inching closer to Maul's side, Rylee is in Imperial custody, and the finale is set up with a massive tease: Dryden Vos and Crimson Dawn are coming to Janix.⚠️ SPOILER WARNING — This review is spoiler-filled. We're going back to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away! Hayley and BVK are so excited for Maul: Shadow Lord to drop on Disney+ that they brought fellow SPaRC Jedi Council member James "Yodahew" Hewings to join in on the excitement. Son of Dathomir, a 4-comic run from 2014, based on an unused story from The Clone Wars, is discussed, which links how Maul got from being imprisoned by Darth Sidious in Season 5 of TCW to his appearance in Season 7. When Count Dooku betrays Asajj Ventress on Palpatine's orders, she returns to her origins on Dathomir—and the revenge plot that unfolds introduces one of the most tragic characters in Star Wars. This three-episode arc of Clone Wars explores the dark magic of the Nightsisters, Mother Talzin's machinations, and ends with a shocking revelation: Darth Maul is alive. Matthew, Erin, and Alex break down Ventress' survivor mentality, the brutal Sith training methods on display, and why Savage Opress' story hits harder than you might expect.Questions we discussed:Does the infamous "kiss of death" scene represent peak Star Wars femme fatale energy or peak cringe? Why does Palpatine really order Dooku to eliminate Ventress—is it about power or loyalty? How does Mother Talzin's magic compare to traditional Force abilities in the Star Wars universe? What makes Savage Opress one of the most tragic characters in the Clone Wars series? How does Dooku's abusive training of Savage contrast with his compassionate mentorship of Qui-Gon Jinn? Why doesn't Obi-Wan immediately recognize that the Zabrak warrior isn't actually Darth Maul?**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. Send us a textJourney to the dark corners of the galaxy where morality blurs and legends are born. Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld delivers six interesting animated episodes that unearth the origins and continued journeys of two fan-favorite antagonists: the former Sith assassin Asajj Ventress and the notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane.Ventress returns from death itself, resurrected by the Nightsisters of Dathomir under a mysterious condition – she must live without her "heart's desire." What does this enigmatic curse mean as she navigates a post-Order 66 galaxy helping force-sensitive children escape Imperial clutches? For readers of the novel Dark Disciple, this continuation provides tantalizing connections while introducing new questions about her relationship with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos and the underground network known as "The Path."Meanwhile, Cad Bane's story takes us back decades to the mean streets of Duros, where a young orphan named Colby and his best friend Nero scrounge for survival. The devastating transformation from desperate street kid to the galaxy's most feared bounty hunter unfolds with Western-inspired flair, culminating in a heart-wrenching showdown that cements Bane as one of Star Wars' most compelling villains. The anthology format allows each character study to breathe while connecting to the broader Star Wars tapestry. We debate whether these tales strike the perfect balance between standalone stories and continuing narratives, comparing this collection to previous anthologies Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. Rich character development, stunning animation, and thoughtful connections to established lore make this essential viewing for fans seeking deeper understanding of the complex personalities who operate in the shadows.Subscribe, leave a five-star "crunchy" review, and join us next week as we continue exploring the stories that shape our favorite fictional universes!Twitter handles:Project Geekology: https://twitter.com/pgeekologyAnthony's Twitter: https://twitter.com/odysseyswowDakota's Twitter: https://twitter.com/geekritique_dakInstagram:https://instagram.com/projectgeekology?igshid=1v0sits7ipq9yYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@projectgeekologyGeekritique (Dakota):https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwciIqOoHwIx_uXtYTSEbATwitch (Anthony):https://www.twitch.tv/odysseywowSupport the show

Clone Wars Conversations continues with the Legacy Multimedia Project, where content was released from unused Clone Wars episodes following the show's cancellation in 2014, and in this episode Dave, Maff & Mike delve into the 4-issue comic series Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir! In detail, this comic centres around Darth Maul after his capture by Palpatine/Sidious in the fifth season of the Clone Wars following his Mandalore-takeover, noting his torture, escape and the eventual plot that unfolds around Dooku and Mother Talzin, set before the events of Season 7. Our trio discuss each issue in-depth, provide additional context & lore, and talk about how much they enjoyed the comics and if they're necessary for the overall story of The Clone Wars. Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir was written by Jeremy Barlow with penciller Juan Frigeri, inker Mauro Vargas and colour artist Wes Dzioba, and was published by Dark Horse in 2014 and re-published by Marvel in 2017. The next 2 releases will continue the Clone Wars Legacy project, with the four unfinished episodes of the Utapau Crystal Crisis next (watch them here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdaXc2wzwv4&t=100s) and finishing with the Dark Disciple novel featuring Quinlan Vos & Asajj Ventress! Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
With all the talk about Crimson Jack in Skeleton Crew we felt this was a perfect time to share another Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics episode! Issue #108 “Forever Crimson!” (2019), is a special continuation of Issue #50 “The Crimson Forever” (1981). This was part of Marvel's 80th Anniversary celebration in 2019 where they added this issue 33 years after the classic Star Wars series ended in 1986. Richard and Sarah break down “Forever Crimson!” - it's story, artwork, and the HUGE amount of Star Wars EU Easter eggs! Jaxxon and Amaiza are back! Valance the Hunter and Domina Tagge make an appearance. This comic even references vornskr and the witches of Dathomir. Could there be more references to pop culture in this comic than SKELETON CREW?? Let's find out. We recommend watching the video version (above) of this episode which contains the full comic as we page through it. #108 “FOREVER CRIMSON" Release Date: May 29, 2019 Writer: Matthew Rosenberg Artwork: Giuseppe Camuncoli, Andrea Broccardo, Kerry Gammill, Ze Carlos, Jan Duursema, Stefano Landini, Luke Ross, Cam Smith, Chris Sotomayer, and Leonard Kirk Cover Art: Walt Simonson and Antonio Fabela The cosmic civil war is over! The Empire has fallen. The tyrannical Dark Lords of the Sith who ruled the galaxy, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, are destroyed, and the heroic Rebel Alliance has restored freedom to the star systems with the formation of the New Republic. But a long-forgotten threat, one more terrible than even the Sith, is still out there in the wilds of deep space, and its return could annihilate all life in the galaxy! Once again, only the freedom fighters Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo can hope to stand against the forces of evil. This is their story! Witches. Get. Stitches. We're in flashback mode this episode as we hearken back to the Clone Wars' Nightsisters, and bring back the same conversation we had during their extermination—about the persecution of powerful women. This episode spirals us through a million possible theories of what happened The Night of the Fire. What do we really know about the Jedi on Brendok? Whose jurisdiction applies? Would you rather be groomed into a cult leader or a child soldier? And what can we surmise about this coven of dark witches? Most importantly, Mae and Osha's story continues to be a whodunit mystery, and the story of “Destiny” opens far more doors than it closes. We'd just like the Brendok coven to know we've been fans since Dathomir…please don't turn us into newts!
