At long last, the Qui-Gon Jinn original graphic novel is here. We have been super excited to see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan faceoff with the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door. The story not only is an incredible prequel adventure, but it also ties in with the High Republic.Covers: Hyperspace Stories: Qui-Gon
Marvel's Star Wars: Jedi Knights debuts and it's a case where the hype wasn't wrong. The series captures the Jedi Order before the events of the prequel trilogy, sporting a case of familiar faces, some new ones and a fair amount of intrigue. It's a superb debut and is going to be a fun read month in and month out.Dark Horse's long delayed first Hyperspace Stories: Qui-Gon original graphic novel has arrived and the creative team has weaved a truly unique story that melds flashbacks, callbacks to The High Republic, certain myths and fables as well as space-borne suspense in a story that builds upon the Qui-Gon Jinn lore and features Obi-Wan Kenobi and Count Dooku, too.And after the comics discussion, stay on for a new segment that we're trying out. We think you'll like it.Comics Discussed This Week:Hyperspace Stories: Qui-GonJedi Knights #1Star Wars Comics New to Marvel Unlimited This Week:Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku -- Republic Under Seige #2 (of 4)News: Amid a wider cancellation of second printings by Marvel, Legacy of Vader #1 was among those scuppered.Marvel's Star Wars: Kanan Modern Era Epic Collection: The Last Padawan, collecting the absolutely superb 12-issue max-series, is slated for release on Aug. 26.Several new cover reveals for upcoming comics can be found the Facebook page and Bluesky feed. We're still expecting an announcement about the new Doctor Aphra series any day now.Upcoming Star Wars comics, graphic novels and omnibuses:March 12 _ Legacy of Vader #2March 18 _ Star Wars Legends: The Old Republic Omnibus Vol. 1 (New Printing) (Collects Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2006) 1-50, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - War (2012) 1-5, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Handbook (2007) 1, material from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/Rebellion (2006) 0)March 19 _ Legacy of Vader #1 (2nd Printing), The High Republic Adventures Phase III #16March 25 _ Star Wars: Inquisitors TPB (Collects 1-4)March 26 _ The High Republic -- Fear of the Jedi #2 (of 5), The Rise of Skywalker adaptation #2 (of 5), The Bad Batch — Ghost Agents #2 (of 5)April 8 _ The High Republic: Edge of Balance: PremonitionApril 9 _ Star Wars (1977) #1 Facsimile Edition (New Printing), Jedi Knights #2April 16 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III #17, Legacy of Vader #3April 22 _ The High Republic -- Edge of Balance (Vol. 4), Echoes of Fear TPB (Collects 1-4)April 23 _ Codebreaker #1 (of 5)April 29 _ Star Wars: Ahsoka — Season One TPB (Collects 1-8), Crash Zone TPB (Collects Crash Landing, Crash and Burn and the 2025 The High Republic Adventures Phase III Annual), Crimson Reign Omnibus (Collects 1-5, Star Wars 19-25, Bounty Hunters 18-24, Darth Vader 18-24 and Doctor Aphra 16-21)April 30 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III -- The Battle of Eriadu One-Shot, The Bad Batch -- Ghost Agents #3 (of 5), The High Republic -- Fear of the Jedi #3 (of 5), The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #3 (of 5)May 3 _ Star Wars Free Comic Book Day #1, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Free Comic Book Day #1May 6 _ Darth Maul: Black, White & Red Treasury Editions (Collects 1-4)May 7 _ Star Wars (Vol. IV) #1May 14 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III #18, Jedi Knights #3May 20 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III Vol. 3 TPB (Collects 11-13, Wedding Spectacular One-Shot)May 21 _Legacy of Vader #4, The High Republic — Fear of the Jedi #4 (of 5)May 28 _ The Bad Batch -- Ghost Agents #4 (of 5), The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #4 (of 5)June 3_ The Battle of Jakku TPB (Collects Insurgency Rising 1-4, Republic Under Seige 1-4, Last Stand 1-4)June 4 _ Codebreaker #2 (of 5)June 11 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III #19June 17 _ Star Wars Legends: The Rebellion Omnibus Vol. 3 (Collects Star Wars: Shadow Stalker (1997) 1, Star Wars: Rebel Heist (2014) 1-4, Star Wars: A Valentine Story (2003) 1, Classic Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1994) 1-2, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (1996) 1-6, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Mini-comic (1996) 1-2, Star Wars: Tales From Mos Eisley (1996) 1, Star Wars: The Bounty Hunters – Scoundrel's Wages (1999) 1, Classic Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1994) 1-2, Star Wars: Tag & Bink Are Dead (2001) 2, Star Wars: Tag & Bink II (2006) 1, Sergio Aragones Stomps Star Wars (2000) 1, Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back (2002) 1-4, Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi (2003) 1-4; material from Star Wars Kids (1997) 12; Star Wars Visionaries (2005); Star Wars Tales (1999) 2, 4-8, 10, 12, 15-17, 20)June 24 _ Star Wars Modern Era Epic Collection: Yoda's Secret War (Collects Star Wars 15-30, Annual 1-2); Dispatches From the Occlusion Zone TPB (Collects 1-4)June 25 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III #20, The Bad Batch -- Ghost Agents #5 (of 5)July 2 _ Jedi Knights #5July 8 _ Ewoks TPB (Collects 1-4)July 22 _ Star Wars Modern Era Epic Collection: Yoda's War (Collects Star Wars 15-30, Annual 1, 2), The High Republic Adventures Phase III TPB Vol. 4 (Collects 14-16, Battle of Eriadu one-shot)Aug. 5 _ Star Wars: Visions Treasury Edition (Collects Visions: Peach Momoko, Visions: Takeshi Okazaki and material from Darth Vader: Black, White & Red #1)Aug. 6 _ Jedi Knights #6Aug. 26 _ Star Wars: Kanan Modern Era Epic Collection (Collects 1-12)Sept. 9 _ Jedi Knights #7Oct. 7 _ Legacy of Vader Vol. 1 TPB (Collects 1-6)Oct. 21 _ The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation TPB (Collects 1-5)Oct. 28 _ The High Republic Adventures Phase III Vol. 5 TPB (Collects 17-20), Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch - Ghost Agents TPB (Collects 1-5)Nov. 4 _ Jedi Knights Vol. 1 TPB (Collects 1-5)

Plo Koon is sent to find the source of a distress signal sent to the Jedi Temple. Plo & his Bros search during a sand storm and find a ship that crashed ages ago. Plo discovers a lightsaber in the wreckage. Plo Spacetimes(™) the temple and tells them the ship belonged to long-lost Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. The council reminds the viewers that Sifo-Dyas was the one who ordered the production of the clone army without the blessing of the council or the senate. Sifo-Dyas was sent to Falucia to negotiate a peace and he was killed there. No one knows what happened to his body since the Chancellor has ordered the files sealed. Yoda sends Obi-Wan and Anakin to Felucia to investigate, while he himself speaks with Chancellor Palpatine. Palpatine tells Yoda the prior Chancellor Valorum sealed the files. Valorum tells Yoda that Sifo-Dyas was to speak with the Pykes, a group that runs the spice trade, and he locked the files so that news didn't get out; as speaking with the Pykes would be like negotiating with the Taliban in the aughts. Based on Palpatine's comments, Yoda believed a second Jedi was with Sifo-Dyas, but Valorum assures Yoda that only his personal aide, Silman, accompanied Sifo-Dyas.Palpatine, as Sidious, Spacetimes(™) Dooku to have him cover his tracks and stop the Jedi investigation on Felucia. Obi-Wan and Anakin speak with the Pykes, after some Jedi persuasion the Pykes admit they shot down Sifo-Dyas' ship and gave his body to Lord Tyranus, but kept Silman alive and imprisoned. The Pykes offer Silman (now a crazy loon after all this time in solitary) to the Jedi to settle the affair. Meanwhile, Dooku shows up on Felucia, fights his way through some guards, and force-chokes Silman while literally standing right behind Obi-Wan and Anakin. A lightsaber duel ensues, during which it is revealed that Dooku is Tyranus! Dooku escapes. The boys inform the council of what they discovered. Yoda tells everyone they must keep it a secret so as not to discredit the creation of the clones and the war effort. The Jedi have leared that Dooku is the person who ordered the clone army: Yoda is meditating on this knowledge when he hears the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn, who explains that he has become part of the living force. Yoda informs the council and they all meditate together, but no one else hears the voice from beyond. In order to determine if the voice is truly from the Force, or a trick by the Sith, Yoda undergoes a meditative trance/induced coma in a sensory deprivation tank. Yoda sees a vision of a swamp planet and the voice of Qui-Gon tells him he must go to Dagobah to complete what Qui-Gon could not. Skywalker escorts Yoda to a hangar, where R2-D2 and Yoda depart for Dagobah in a fighter.R2 stays with the fighter in a desperate attempt to avoid any issues with him being on Dagobah with Master Yoda and knowing both how to get there and exactly who Yoda is. Yoda speaks more with Qui-Gon, who explains that he is now outside of linear time, like the Prophets of Bajor or Dr. Manhattan. Yoda sees visions of the dark future to come. Qui-Gon explains that Yoda he has been chosen to learn how to become part of the Force after death, as Qui-gon was, so that he can be a voice of light in the times to come. Yoda departs Dagobah, letting the Force guide him towards the origin of life in the Galaxy.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

This week Jim dives deep into streaming watching Baghead, In a Violent Nature and Nightmares & Daydreams all of which sound pretty interesting. Elton on the other hand has a problem with his ball cock, and a little leak. For Darren, old age continues to encroach as his cyatica plays up something rotten as does his Thalassaphobia (look it up) as he returns to playing sci fi underwater nightmare fuel, Subnautica. Lee meanwhile laughs at deep fake Obi Wan youtube videos, Rick & Mortys latest season on Netflix and begins watching Fallout, while trying his damnedest to not over explain everything to Carol as they watch it. After that its on to this weeks film the cheapest mega blockbuster in recent history the epic Godzilla Minus One. The Jedi have been catching a bit of heat on the podcast recently because of The Acolyte. In thinking about The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn was pretty cavalier about not being on Tatooine to free slaves. But does he deserve the heat, too? Maybe not... Punch it! (Enjoy the show? The Acolyte starts off a hundred years before the end of revenge of the Sith. The premise is that the Jedi have lived in peace for hundreds of years, until now, where a dark side user grows their powers in the shadows. The show begins with Mae, the evil twin hell bent on killing 4 Jedi masters on some crusade for reasons we don't know yet, enters a village bar and challenges carry Anne moss to the death, she is bested until she throws a dagger at the bar keep to which Jedi trinity saves, leaving her guard down to die by a dagger. I was surprised to learn that daggers are more lethal than lightsabers after the Kenobi show and how Anakin's lightsaber through Reva's chest wasn't effective, and then Vader's lightsaber through adult Reva, as well. We see Mae's lightside twin, Osha who wakes up on a ship, when her buddy brags about the wild night he and the crew mates had on Nar Shaddaa, nar shaddaa is like Star Wars Vegas. Not much law, crime world ran by the Hutts. Neimodians no longer have their asian accent that George Lucas had all throughout the prequels, maybe these guys are from a different part of the galaxy… The Jedi arrive on the ship and led by Jedi knight Yord and another Jedi, who fills the audience on what the story is. Osha left the order 6 years ago, she was found in a fire when she was around 8, and then they accuse her of killing a Jedi master. But of course, it was her twin. They take her in a prison transport for questioning to Coruscant. It's nice to see coruscant again, as Master Sol trains younglings, when he speaks with Master Vernestra. The backstory is, that Sol saved Osha and saved her from a fire on her home on Brendok as a kid, he doesn't believe that she killed the Jedi Master Trinity. They decide to keep this possibility hush hush as if it were to leak, their political enemies could use it against them. Osha is on the droid ship, it eventually goes down, and she escapes, after saving one of the last inmates, he takes the last pod and she crash lands on some ice planet. As Master sol observes his former apprentice's hologram, we see how he still has attachment to her. He's like a very weak version of Qui-Gon Jinn. Kind of does his own thing, but not as confident or stoic as Qui-Gon. He recognizes the Jedi aren't always right. Osha wakes up and she has a vision of Mae and herself when they were young, during the fire on their home of Brendok. They speak with each other and I feel like there's some force connection dyad thing going on between them to facilitate this. Sol gathers two other Jedi, Yord and dafnee keene's character Jecki, who is a Padawan which is indicated with her braid. He tells the story of Osha and Mae, revealing that they are twin sisters, and that Mae started a fire when they were kids, this fire killed their whole family. They find Osha on the ice planet, she tells them she didn't kill the Jedi Master, Sol believes her, and they take her with them. Mae walks by the beach as she comes to her master, who is saying a Jedi is essentially invincible to metal or lightsabers, except against an acolyte, who fights without a weapon, and just stealths their way through everything. An acolyte kills the dream. Overall I thought was meh, I'm not invested in the characters yet, so it'll take some time. You can't just start killing people off and expecting the viewer to be totally invested in the death of these characters. You have to spend an episode or 2 to get used to them, build their story, let us connect with them, then in episode 3 or 4 or something, they start dropping like flies, and everything just takes off super fast because of the exposition from the first 2 episodes.
