Clone Wars Conversations continues with Dave, Maff & Mike discussing the final 3 episodes of “The Lost Season”, which features Yoda being guided by Qui-Gon Jinn on a journey to worlds strong in the force, to prepare him for what comes after the Clone Wars! In more detail, Dave, Maff & Mike first talk about how this works as the original ending of TCW series (before season 7 was announced), before delving deeper into these Yoda-centric episodes! No new comics out this week, but plenty of news out of New York Comic Con from Oct. 17-21, including word that Poe Dameron is returning to comics via Dark Horse, Marc Guggenheim and Madibek Musabekov will have a new monthly from Marvel featuring Jedi knights set before the events of The Phantom Menace and plenty of hype about the Battle of Eriadu that's about to go down in the pages of The HIgh Republic Adventures Phase III.What wasn't revealed? Plo Koon is sent to find the source of a distress signal sent to the Jedi Temple. Plo & his Bros search during a sand storm and find a ship that crashed ages ago. Plo discovers a lightsaber in the wreckage. Plo Spacetimes(™) the temple and tells them the ship belonged to long-lost Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. The council reminds the viewers that Sifo-Dyas was the one who ordered the production of the clone army without the blessing of the council or the senate. Sifo-Dyas was sent to Falucia to negotiate a peace and he was killed there. No one knows what happened to his body since the Chancellor has ordered the files sealed. Yoda sends Obi-Wan and Anakin to Felucia to investigate, while he himself speaks with Chancellor Palpatine. Palpatine tells Yoda the prior Chancellor Valorum sealed the files. Valorum tells Yoda that Sifo-Dyas was to speak with the Pykes, a group that runs the spice trade, and he locked the files so that news didn't get out; as speaking with the Pykes would be like negotiating with the Taliban in the aughts. Based on Palpatine's comments, Yoda believed a second Jedi was with Sifo-Dyas, but Valorum assures Yoda that only his personal aide, Silman, accompanied Sifo-Dyas.Palpatine, as Sidious, Spacetimes(™) Dooku to have him cover his tracks and stop the Jedi investigation on Felucia. Obi-Wan and Anakin speak with the Pykes, after some Jedi persuasion the Pykes admit they shot down Sifo-Dyas' ship and gave his body to Lord Tyranus, but kept Silman alive and imprisoned. The Pykes offer Silman (now a crazy loon after all this time in solitary) to the Jedi to settle the affair. Meanwhile, Dooku shows up on Felucia, fights his way through some guards, and force-chokes Silman while literally standing right behind Obi-Wan and Anakin. A lightsaber duel ensues, during which it is revealed that Dooku is Tyranus! Dooku escapes. The boys inform the council of what they discovered. Yoda tells everyone they must keep it a secret so as not to discredit the creation of the clones and the war effort. The Jedi have leared that Dooku is the person who ordered the clone army: Yoda is meditating on this knowledge when he hears the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn, who explains that he has become part of the living force. Yoda informs the council and they all meditate together, but no one else hears the voice from beyond. In order to determine if the voice is truly from the Force, or a trick by the Sith, Yoda undergoes a meditative trance/induced coma in a sensory deprivation tank. Yoda sees a vision of a swamp planet and the voice of Qui-Gon tells him he must go to Dagobah to complete what Qui-Gon could not. Skywalker escorts Yoda to a hangar, where R2-D2 and Yoda depart for Dagobah in a fighter.R2 stays with the fighter in a desperate attempt to avoid any issues with him being on Dagobah with Master Yoda and knowing both how to get there and exactly who Yoda is. Yoda speaks more with Qui-Gon, who explains that he is now outside of linear time, like the Prophets of Bajor or Dr. Manhattan. Yoda sees visions of the dark future to come. Qui-Gon explains that Yoda he has been chosen to learn how to become part of the Force after death, as Qui-gon was, so that he can be a voice of light in the times to come. Yoda departs Dagobah, letting the Force guide him towards the origin of life in the Galaxy.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

THE ACOLYTE PREMIERE EPISODES BREAK DOWN! On this episode, Ben, Dominic, Hannah, and Chris review and discuss the first two episodes of The Acolyte which debuted on Disney+ this week. They talk about all the new characters introduced in the first episodes, including the Qui-Gon-like Master Sol, the by-the-book Jedi Yorde, the mysterious Mae, the outsider Osha, and the surprisingly controversial Jecki. They also talk about this new (to the screen) era of Star Wars and how it differs from other depictions of the past of the galaxy far, far away. Plus, a live performance of the “Ben's Connection Corner” theme song. All this and much more!Join the Star Wars Underworld Network Discord

The Acolyte starts off a hundred years before the end of revenge of the Sith. The premise is that the Jedi have lived in peace for hundreds of years, until now, where a dark side user grows their powers in the shadows. The show begins with Mae, the evil twin hell bent on killing 4 Jedi masters on some crusade for reasons we don't know yet, enters a village bar and challenges carry Anne moss to the death, she is bested until she throws a dagger at the bar keep to which Jedi trinity saves, leaving her guard down to die by a dagger. I was surprised to learn that daggers are more lethal than lightsabers after the Kenobi show and how Anakin's lightsaber through Reva's chest wasn't effective, and then Vader's lightsaber through adult Reva, as well. We see Mae's lightside twin, Osha who wakes up on a ship, when her buddy brags about the wild night he and the crew mates had on Nar Shaddaa, nar shaddaa is like Star Wars Vegas. Not much law, crime world ran by the Hutts. Neimodians no longer have their asian accent that George Lucas had all throughout the prequels, maybe these guys are from a different part of the galaxy… The Jedi arrive on the ship and led by Jedi knight Yord and another Jedi, who fills the audience on what the story is. Osha left the order 6 years ago, she was found in a fire when she was around 8, and then they accuse her of killing a Jedi master. But of course, it was her twin. They take her in a prison transport for questioning to Coruscant. It's nice to see coruscant again, as Master Sol trains younglings, when he speaks with Master Vernestra. The backstory is, that Sol saved Osha and saved her from a fire on her home on Brendok as a kid, he doesn't believe that she killed the Jedi Master Trinity. They decide to keep this possibility hush hush as if it were to leak, their political enemies could use it against them. Osha is on the droid ship, it eventually goes down, and she escapes, after saving one of the last inmates, he takes the last pod and she crash lands on some ice planet. As Master sol observes his former apprentice's hologram, we see how he still has attachment to her. He's like a very weak version of Qui-Gon Jinn. Kind of does his own thing, but not as confident or stoic as Qui-Gon. He recognizes the Jedi aren't always right. Osha wakes up and she has a vision of Mae and herself when they were young, during the fire on their home of Brendok. They speak with each other and I feel like there's some force connection dyad thing going on between them to facilitate this. Sol gathers two other Jedi, Yord and dafnee keene's character Jecki, who is a Padawan which is indicated with her braid. He tells the story of Osha and Mae, revealing that they are twin sisters, and that Mae started a fire when they were kids, this fire killed their whole family. They find Osha on the ice planet, she tells them she didn't kill the Jedi Master, Sol believes her, and they take her with them. Mae walks by the beach as she comes to her master, who is saying a Jedi is essentially invincible to metal or lightsabers, except against an acolyte, who fights without a weapon, and just stealths their way through everything. An acolyte kills the dream. Overall I thought was meh, I'm not invested in the characters yet, so it'll take some time. You can't just start killing people off and expecting the viewer to be totally invested in the death of these characters. You have to spend an episode or 2 to get used to them, build their story, let us connect with them, then in episode 3 or 4 or something, they start dropping like flies, and everything just takes off super fast because of the exposition from the first 2 episodes. Night has arrived and turned into some intense light saber action where, unfortunately, what Qui Gon said ends up being true: They all have to die. Not for the faint of heart, this episode sees some tremendous loss and the ultimate twin deception. We still have Sol but RIP to Yord and Jecki and all the other Jedi. Now it seems Bazil is the only other one who knows the secret.

How many social media posts have you made this week? Think about it for a few seconds. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or even Reddit. What were you hoping to communicate to the world in those posts? Were there other posts you drafted and then deleted after coming to your senses about the perils of hitting Post? I can think of a few deleted Tweets from the past week, and quite a few more that stayed up even though I felt immediate regret. Why did I need to say that? Why do these 10 Likes and 3 Comments motivate me like a demonic possession to proclaim every half-baked thought or observation I have about the world? It doesn't have to be this way. In a little over a week, I'm going to see Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace in theaters! It's being given a theatrical re-release for May 4th. I can't wait. We talk a lot about Episode I on Geeky Stoics, primarily because….Qui-Gon Jinn. As a Jedi, he is a man of few words. He speaks plenty throughout the film, but unlike the younger Obi-Wan Kenobi or the foolish Jar Jar Binks, he just comes across as highly intentional about every word. His words cut like a knife. When Qui-Gon speaks, you get the sense it must be important. “The ability to speak does not make you intelligent”When the Jedi first meet Jar Jar Binks in the swamps of Naboo, Jar Jar is basically standing in the way of traffic, about to get run over by incoming military vehicles. Qui-Gon and Jar Jar collide and the Jedi pins the blathering Gungan to the ground until the danger has passed.Qui-Gon is not pleased. “What are you, brainless?” he asks, rather harshly. Jar Jar answers, “I speak”, as if this answers the Jedi's question.“The ability to speak does not make you intelligent-” Qui-Gon says. Indeed. It's fitting then that later in the movie, Jar Jar gets his tongue grabbed by Qui-Gon Jinn at the dinner table. Every day we should ask ourselves if what we're saying to others is truly worth saying. Are we speaking in order to add value for the recipient, or are we speaking to assuage the voice of ego deep inside that is convinced our every word is wise and interesting? “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger” - James 1:19I remember an old boss of mine got angry with the staff at a morning meeting because the brainstorming sessions were too quiet. No one was speaking up. He reminded us all that we're paid to speak up and share our thoughts. So people started speaking. The problem, of course, is that the most obtuse individuals were doing almost all of the talking. The egomaniacs and brown nosers knew the incentive structure was to make sounds with their faces, even if it was corporate drivel and buzzword salad. This balancing act is delicate. You need to reject fear and speak up at meetings, but you don't want to slip into speaking for its own sake. The ability to speak does not make you intelligent. Say this to yourself every now and then. Maybe it'll help you discern which words on the tip of your tongue are worth pushing out.Geeky Stoics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. The Talking PeopleThe need for me to do this in my own life is pretty pressing. I do TV news from time to time, to talk about politics and current events. And if I had a dollar for every time I spoke for longer than was necessary or said something regrettable…..well, you know, I'd have a lot of dollars. But the incentive structure on TV news is to speak and speak often. They don't book wallflowers for political segments. So you come up with something to say, even if it doesn't need saying. It's rather toxic. After doing lots of TV for about 5 years, I found myself being more loose with what I'd say in casual conversation with friends and family. The TV people want me to speak, why doesn't everyone else? When my daughter was little, she called TV news “the talking people”. If was going on TV, she'd say “Have fun with the talking people, Daddddddy.”I did have fun with them. Always have. But there's a cost…..which is, lots of things spoken on the record I might later wish were not. You don't even get paid to be a guest on the news. So even in raw financial terms, it's often not worth it. But I do it, still, it's part of my job. My only aim now is to try and be better, more precise, and more like Qui-Gon. I want to have a tongue that, when deployed for political discourse, actually cuts. It's a work in progress. Our political system elevates talkers. Have you noticed? Perhaps, we could try and remember politicians like Cato the Younger, who in the late Roman Republic had developed a reputation for both fiery speech and deadly silence. When he spoke, people listened. When he was quiet, people wanted to know why.“Cato practiced the kind of public speech capable of moving the masses, believing proper political philosophy takes care like any great city to maintain the warlike element. But he was never seen practicing in front of others, and no one ever heard him rehearse a speech. When he was told that people blamed him for his silence, he replied, ‘Better they not blame my life. I begin to speak only when I'm certain what I'll say isn't better left unsaid.'”—Plutarch on Cato the YoungerHave a great week my friends. Remember, the ability to speak does not make you intelligent. Consider deleting that Tweet, or saving that post as a Draft and walking away for a few hours. You might be surprised at how much people listen when you're known to be careful with your tongue. Get full access to Geeky Stoics at www.geekystoics.com/subscribe

In the novel, Kenobi, which is legends, Obi-Wan Kenobi speaks to Qui-Gon (without a response) as to many things regarding Anakin and his fall to the dark side, becoming a Sith Lord. At this point Obi-Wan still thinks Anakin is dead, and doesn't understand or know about the truth behind Vader's transformation. He talks about Anakin's lightsaber which I thought was fascinating as we know he completely changes the look before handing it off to Luke in A New Hope. Learn more about your ad choices.
