Marcia Lucas has passed away. She edited the original Star Wars and won an Oscar for it alongside Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew. She's the one who told George Lucas to let Obi-Wan die, cut the Death Star trench run out of 40,000 feet of footage, added the ticking clock for the Death Star firing on Yavin, and kept the kiss for luck between Luke and Leia. A New Hope doesn't work without her, and most people don't even know her name. In this video I want to talk about what she really gave us. Rest in peace, Marcia. Thank you for everything. We come at last to the grand finale of the original Star Wars trilogy, and it, too, is haunted by the past. Once again, in space, a one time scoundrel must trust his gut and swoop down to the pits of a cataclysmic, moon-sized weapon to save the day. Once again, aboard that station, a Jedi must come to the realization that striking down his opponent is not the path to real power. And once again, on a small world below, a rag-tag group Rebels from across the galaxy can do nothing but watch and hope as... wait, sorry, I'm taking another look. What are those little furry guys. They didn't have those at Yavin, I'll tell you that much. Seems like a group of difference makers if I've ever met one. Support the show by going to Patreon.com/civilized! Today we discuss Jedi Bounty, the next book in the Young Jedi Knights series. Lowie has been with the Diversity Alliance for some time, and no one on Yavin 4 has heard from him. Growing concerned for their friend, Jacen, Jaina, Tenel Ka, and Raynar decide to go to Ryloth in person to see him, and rescue him if needed. Meanwhile, Zekk keeps looking for Bornan Thul, and has a terrifying realization about what's really going on.

The heroes of the rebellion have fled Hoth and found themselves in new environs unlike any we've seen in Star Wars before. Bespin's Cloud City is the first real metropolis in the series, and while Yavin was covered in trees, it was nothing like the damp swamps of Dagobah, home to creepy crawlies of all sorts. As our heroes meet their respective contacts, one has to wonder, which of these new worlds is home to the more trustworthy sort of person? Trick question. You can't trust either of these motherfuckers. Star Wars: In a Galaxy – Watching all the Star Wars we can get our hands on.
In the second episode of Season 25 of Star Wars: In a Galaxy, Eli and Jacob discuss the second episode of Season 2 of Andor: A Star Wars Story, "Sagrona Teema".Among their discussion:– The fall of Tay Kolma.– Syril Karn and Dedra Meero's... relationship, I guess.– Chandrilan culture is kinda ridiculous.– "Sagrona Teema" as one of the most George Lucas things about Andor.– That mystery world was Yavin the whole time! Does it justify the pit-stop? We don't think so.– Perrin being right about something, but also being, like, the worst person to deliver that message. Today we discuss Delusions of Grandeur, the next book in the Young Jedi Knights series. Jacen, Jaina, Tenel Ka, and Raynar set out to hunt for Tyko Thul, while Lowie leaves Yavin 4 with Raaba. Meanwhile Zekk has a new employer, Master Wary, and his secrets could shake the foundations of the galaxy. And an old friend from the twins' childhood returns, as Lusa leaves the Diversity Alliance behind and makes her way to Yavin 4.
Hunter and Jessica have finally reached the end of the road with the Andor Season 2 finale, and it's a straight shot right into the events of Rogue One. The hosts break down the claustrophobic Coruscant rescue where a spectacularly lethal K-2SO helps create the ultimate "ISB sandwich," putting a permanent "hurt" on Officer Heurt. Meanwhile, Major Partagaz realizes his tyrannical web has finally collapsed, choosing to ironically listen to Nemik's rebel manifesto one last time before making his dark exit.Back on Yavin 4, Cassian's massive intel dump about the critical phrase "Jedha, Kyber, and Erso" gets a surprisingly underwhelming reaction from Rebel command. The hosts discuss Mon Mothma's tense Zoom call with a paranoid Saw Gerrera, and hilariously debate whether Bail Organa is secretly shopping on Coruscant for metal bikinis—or just practical claw clips—for a teenage Princess Leia. They also marvel at Cassian's miraculously fresh Rogue One haircut and his adorable dedication to watering his plants before heading off on a suicide mission to the Ring of Kafrene.Hunter and Jessica try to hold back tears discussing the emotionally devastating final montage, which features Dedra Meero sporting Narkina 5 prison stripes, Krennic admiring his shiny new Death Star, and Bix hiding out on "fake Lothal" with a very surprising baby Andor. Stick around as the hosts map out their upcoming pod schedule, transitioning from a Rogue One rewatch straight into the highly anticipated April release of the Darth Maul: Shadow Lord series.Join us on Facebook: The Purrgil Pod. Hunter and Jessica are back to break down the intense pressure of Andor Season 2, Episode 10, "Make it Stop". The timeline has officially jumped to one year before the Battle of Yavin, and poor double-agent Lonnie is absolutely "shook". After being buttered up by a surprisingly gentle Luthen on a very public Coruscant park bench, Lonnie finally delivers the ultimate Rogue One setup, dropping the intel on the Empire's kyber crystal strip-mining operation, Jedha, and a guy named Galen Erso. Sadly, it's RIP for Lonnie, though at least a Dave Filoni-approved Loth cat is the one to find his body. Meanwhile, Dedra Meero smarmily struts into the antique shop thinking she's finally trapped her rebel spy, only to discover Luthen has melted his comms with acid and literally stabbed himself to avoid interrogation. Hunter and Jessica question Luthen's incredibly messy methods, debating whether a Mandalorian-style poison pill would have been a much smarter play. Ultimately, Dedra's solo ambition completely blows up in her face, resulting in her getting arrested and questioned by her very own newly-promoted assistant. But the real MVP of the episode is Kleya. The hosts dissect her tragic backstory of witnessing Imperial executions as a child and her progression into a hardened rebel. In the present timeline, she pulls off a masterclass hospital infiltration by stealing scrubs, hijacking a hovering space-wheelchair, and casually abandoning an elderly alien grandmother to sneak past security. It all leads to a heartbreaking final sequence where Kleya must finish the job, crying as she pulls the plug on Luthen's life support. Plus, stick around for the hosts' quick thoughts on the upcoming Andor comic bridge to Rogue One, Darth Maul's glorious return in Shadow Lord, and the countdown to The Mandalorian and Grogu.Join us on Facebook: The Purrgil Pod. Today we continue the Young Jedi Knights series with Shards of Alderaan. The Shadow Academy has been defeated. Now it's time to rebuild the Jedi Temple. While Zekk is no longer under the sway of the dark side, he knows he can't stay on Yavin 4. The only problem is, he doesn't know where he'll go next. Leia's birthday is coming up, and Jacen and Jaina want to get her a special present. And Raynar Thul's life is about to change in ways he could never imagine.
Episode Overview: Andor Season 2, Episode 7 – "The Messenger"Happy New Year, 2026! Hunter and Jessica are finally back to break down the calm before the storm in Andor Season 2, Episode 7, "The Messenger".In this episode, the Empire is busy staging false flag operations, and Dedra Meero is choking on her ambitions while trying to keep Syril Karn in line. Jessica has some choice words for Dedra's manipulation tactics, describing her farewell to Syril as the "most unpassionate kiss ever"—akin to kissing a "stranger's dog". Meanwhile, on Yavin, a Force healer gets inside Cassian's head (and shoulder), planting the seeds for Bix to realize she might be holding him back from his destiny. From Mon Mothma's senate struggles to the "dead meat" rookie troopers arriving on Gorman, the hosts analyze how all the pieces are being placed for a massive catastrophe. Today we continue the Young Jedi Knights series with Jedi Under Siege. The Shadow Academy is coming to attack Yavin 4. It's up to Luke, Tionne, Jacen, Jaina, Tenel Ka, and Lowbacca to hold them off until reinforcements can arrive. Leading the Dark Jedi force on the ground is Zekk, the twins former best friend.

Why Did Vader Fly Away?John & Matt discuss the possible reasons Darth Vader kept flying away from Yavin 4 after gaining control of his ship at the end of the original Star Wars. In light of the might displayed at the end of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, why didn't we see Vader strike back a little more immediately than we got onscreen?HostsJohn Mills and Matthew RushingYou've found the best Star Wars podcast with one-of-a-kind discussions in the spirit of fun! By 2016, the Star Wars galaxy was splintered. Disney had bought the keys to the kingdom, and The Force Awakens had opened the floodgates of nostalgia; fans were debating whether the magic still remained. Enter Rogue One, a gritty, grounded war film that not only connected the dots between trilogies but also reminded us what sacrifice actually looks like in a galaxy far, far away. Our Rogue One (2016) Review could be our boldest Star Wars exploration yet. Listen to find out.On this week's Born to Watch, the team rallies on Yavin 4 to break down the boldest entry in Disney's Star Wars canon. Whitey brings the heat with tales of midnight screenings and family rewatches, calling Rogue One the "Everest" of modern Star Wars. Damo, initially underwhelmed, admits it took a second viewing to appreciate the depth and daring of this standalone story. And Bones? Let's just say he came armed with more trivia than a Death Star databank, from K-2SO's comic origins to what Chirrut Îmwe's staff is really made of.The episode begins with the squad sharing their first impressions, ranging from faulty cinema projectors to kids ditching mid-movie, before diving into the film's iconic trailer. Vader's breath. The Rogue One theme. Mon Mothma's icy resolve. It still rocks. The boys dissect what made the trailer work and laugh at the glaringly absent "I rebel" line that somehow vanished between teaser and final cut.Naturally, the Born to Watch crew doesn't just scratch the surface. They dive deep into what makes Rogue One so special: a fresh cast of characters who aren't chosen ones or lightsaber prodigies, but ordinary rebels making impossible choices. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) gets major love for her no-frills attitude, while Diego Luna's Cassian Andor earns newfound respect thanks to the phenomenal Andor series, which Whitey all but begs Damo to finally watch. And then there's K-2SO, the sardonic droid voiced by Alan Tudyk (aka "Two Dicks”, don't ask, just listen). Easily one of the funniest characters in the franchise, K-2 delivers punchlines and gut-punches with equal finesse. The same goes for Donnie Yen's Chirrut and Wen Jiang's Baze, a dynamic duo who bring martial arts, mysticism, and machine guns to the battlefield.Ben Mendelsohn's Director Krennic gets the Aussie shoutout treatment, with the team praising his imperial smugness and exquisite cape work. Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera? A source of debate, gasps, and conspiracy theories, is he a Vader prototype? A puffed-up Darth Hipster? Either way, "Bo Gullet" lives rent-free in everyone's head, even if no one quite understands what he's doing there. And then comes the scene. You know the one. The Vader hallway massacre. It's cinematic perfection, a horror movie, action flick, and fan fantasy rolled into one red lightsaber ignition. The team agrees: it might be the greatest single moment in Star Wars history. Period. From there, it's time for Good, Bad, and Ugly, where the sets, the new worlds (Scarif, Jedha), and the grounded stakes all get high praise. The team relishes how Rogue One finally explains the Death Star's ridiculous design flaw, praises its minimal use of nostalgia, and wonders how Jyn Erso climbs that 500-metre tower without even puffing.Legacy-wise, Rogue One is a billion-dollar box office hit that somehow still feels underrated. No Skywalkers. No prophecy. Just a desperate, beautiful mission and a finale that dares to kill every single lead. The episode wraps with laughs, trivia, a tease of a Star Wars Trivial Pursuit rematch, and a reminder that Rogue One is the rare Disney-era film that actually elevates what came before.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Rogue One the best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy?Would you rather pilot an X-Wing or be one with the Force like Chirrut? Cad Bane is bound to a life of blood and money. (And blood money.) Will it be his only legacy?Deeply out of chronological order, we're venturing five or six decades before the Battle of Yavin to watch Cad Bane grow up in “Tale of the Underworld.” We examine how, and why, Star Wars chose to tell a police drama, a spaghetti Western, and a Mafia crime ascendancy in the same story. We parse the fantasy of the “good cop,” wonder about Cad and Niro's legacy, and discuss the critical reception of this very lovely piece of animation. Star Wars and Superhero Ethics Crossover Episode: Andor Season 2While I try to keep the Star Wars Generations and Superhero Ethics podcasts separate, with Andor hitting so many of the themes we talk about on Superhero Ethics, I wanted to share our first episode about Andor Season 2 with you all.The hosts of Star Wars Generations dive deep into the first three episodes of Andor Season 2, which premiered with a triple-episode release. Matthew, Erin, and Alex explore how the show immediately establishes its political commentary and continues its unflinching portrayal of life under the Empire's fascist regime. What makes Andor Season 2 so politically charged?Within the first five minutes, the show tackles current political issues through its storytelling. The hosts discuss how the plot involving undocumented workers (referred to explicitly as not having "visas") on a farming planet directly parallels real-world immigration issues. The Empire's plan to exploit the planet Ghorman for resources regardless of environmental or human cost also serves as commentary on resource exploitation and colonialism. How does the show portray different facets of the Empire? The podcast hosts examine how the show depicts various characters within the Imperial system. From Dedra and Syril's domestic life to the cold Imperial board meetings with Krennic, the series demonstrates how ordinary people participate in and enable fascist regimes. The stark contrast between the comfortable lives of Imperial officers and the struggling rebels highlights the inequality within the Star Wars universe. What connections to the wider Star Wars universe appear in these episodes? The hosts identify several connections to the animated series Rebels, including Cassian stealing what appears to be a TIE Interceptor (a project championed by Grand Admiral Thrawn) and the mention of Ghorman (which Mon Mothma later condemns the Empire for abusing in Rebels). They theorize these connections may lead to appearances from characters like Thrawn or depict events referenced in other Star Wars media.Other topics discussed:The controversial scene involving attempted sexual assault against Bix and its portrayal of power abuse within the EmpireMon Mothma's storyline involving Chandrilan wedding traditions and her strained family relationshipsBrasso's death and the ambiguity around whether Andor was responsibleThe portrayal of squabbling rebel factions on Yavin 4 and what it says about resistance movementsThe parallels between the lavish Chandrilan wedding ceremony and the violence occurring simultaneously on other planetsDedra and Syril's domestic relationship and interactions with his motherThe Imperial strategy meeting discussing how to create justifications for destroying GhormanThe hosts conclude that while some storylines (particularly the Yavin 4 sequence) felt somewhat drawn out, the overall quality of the show remains exceptional. They express excitement about where the season is heading and how it will connect to the events of Rogue One, noting that these early episodes have already paid off some of their predictions while setting up compelling new storylines. **************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network.
