Clone Wars Conversations continues with the Legacy Multimedia Project, where content was released from unused Clone Wars episodes following the show's cancellation in 2014, and in this episode Dave, Maff & Mike delve into the 4-issue comic series Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir! In detail, this comic centres around Darth Maul after his capture by Palpatine/Sidious in the fifth season of the Clone Wars following his Mandalore-takeover, noting his torture, escape and the eventual plot that unfolds around Dooku and Mother Talzin, set before the events of Season 7. Our trio discuss each issue in-depth, provide additional context & lore, and talk about how much they enjoyed the comics and if they're necessary for the overall story of The Clone Wars. Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir was written by Jeremy Barlow with penciller Juan Frigeri, inker Mauro Vargas and colour artist Wes Dzioba, and was published by Dark Horse in 2014 and re-published by Marvel in 2017. The next 2 releases will continue the Clone Wars Legacy project, with the four unfinished episodes of the Utapau Crystal Crisis next (watch them here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdaXc2wzwv4&t=100s) and finishing with the Dark Disciple novel featuring Quinlan Vos & Asajj Ventress! We did it - our 500th episode!!! To celebrate this milestone we do what we do best - talk about Star Wars. We are so excited to take on one of our biggest discussions ever - comparing and contrasting all seven of the live action Star Wars Disney+ series. We go over the final confrontations, how each show progresses the world of Star Wars, how each series ended but left an opening for another season, and lots more. We look forward to seeing how your ranking compares to ours. Today in Star Wars History Cartoon Network airs the episode “Witches of the Mist” from Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Secrets Revealed Season Three. Written by Katie Lucas.  FORTUNE COOKIE: “The path to evil may bring great power, but not loyalty.” In this episode, Ventress and Savage Opress attack Dooku but he gets away. Opress returns to Mother Talzin who tells him to find his long-lost and exiled brother who will teach him how to become a powerful warrior. With his mission set, Opress leaves. Talzin then turns to her crystal orb where a fractured image of Maul materializes.  This was part of the arc that was shown at the touring Clone Wars screenings in 2011. This arc kicked off screening Star Wars television episodes at fan events.    SPONSORS   Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland. Spiritual leaders on the somehow-still-peaceful planet of Bardotta are disappearing, and that Queen Julia has called upon the Senate for help. The ghost of Senator Onoconda Farr chimes in with an undignified snort, but no one in the Senate has a sense of clairaudience or of irony, and so it goes unnoticed. Chancellor Palpatine calls the Jedi Council to let them know it will in fact be a mismatched duo comedy episode starring bad cop Mace Windu and clown cop Jar Jar Binks. See, the Bardottans hate the Jedi, because they steal children, and so want Jar-Jar and no one else to come help them. When they arrive on Bardotta, we learn that the Dagoyan Masters, non-Jedi, non-Sith force wielders, are disappearing one by one. We also learn that Jar-Jar and Queen Julia are, let's say, more than friends. Shortly after this the queen disappears. The Bardottan council explains the source of the prophecy is the Frangawl clan, who worshiped a demon in a shrine below the temple, and we realize that this is not just a buddy cop movie with a side-helping of Orientalism, but an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom pastiche. Our heroes journey to the caverns below the palace, where Jar Jar is immediately captured and placed in a cage hanging over lava. After a standard amount of Jar Jar hijinks, Master Windu locates him, and the battle rages! The cultists are defeated but the cult leader escapes with the still-captive queen. Jar-jar promises the Bardottan council for the second time that day that he and Mace will recover the queen. The Frangawl cult gets to take over the Bardottan government if Queen Julia isn't found. I'm not sure kidnapping is a good basis for transfer of power in governments, but at this point, as an American, maybe I should be more open to new ideas.Jar Jar breaks down what happened to the Bardotten master. The terms ‘crispy fried' and ‘force sucked right out of him' are referenced. Meanwhile the cultist Ornithopter lands on Geidi Prime, and if Julia is fitted with a heart plug to extract her living force I'm going to start enjoying this arc.The Great Mother (who?!) has told the cultists that they have Jedi on their tail. The cultists are being sneaky by dragging the kidnapping victim and a glowing sphere of living force through a crowded marketplace and Jar Jar and Mace still almost miss them.Mace and Jar Jar run into what looks like a genestealer cultist who sicks a couple Gundarks on them. Jar Jar's prehensile tongue comes into play, and somewhere Kit Fisto senses another erotic disturbance in the Force. There's talk of planetary alignment and apparently Lovecraftian cultists are now in the mix; we're one pair of Nike Decades away from a cultist connect four.Hey, it's Mother Talzin! More fighting with some rejects from the Uldaur raid and at this point I had to lay down for a while with some pretty severe WoW flashbacks. Mother Talzin and Mace fight, and she holds her own against a Jedi who made Darth Sidious look like a chump. Where was this when Grievous invaded Dathomir? Anyway Jar Jar rescues the Queen, Mother Talzin's scheme unravels and Mother Talzin dissolves with a scream…? The queen decides that maybe the Bardottens should reconsider their attitude towards the Jedi, and she just has the absolute worst judgment of anyone on this show and that's saying a lot.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

In tonight's livestream episode, we explored the intricate story of Darth Maul within the Star Wars universe.Dathomir: The Witches' PlanetDathomir, a mysterious planet located in the Outer Rim's Quelli sector, is known for its unique features. This remote world is illuminated by a red sun and characterized by a diverse terrain, including dense forests and murky swamps. However, its most intriguing aspect lies in its history.Centuries before the Clone Wars, Dathomir was home to a species known as the Fromprath. They were forcibly displaced from the planet by the Nightsisters, a group of powerful witches. These Nightsisters would later become integral to Maul's life.Mother Talzin: Leader of the NightsistersBorn on Dathomir, Mother Talzin emerged as a formidable figure among the Nightsisters and the Nightbrothers, the male Zabrak species native to Dathomir. Talzin's power lay in Nightsister magick, which even caught the attention of the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.Talzin and Sidious: A Dark AllianceDarth Sidious, a master of dark side force powers, was drawn to Nightsister magick and visited Dathomir. He initially promised to make Talzin his apprentice but instead chose her son, Maul, as his own apprentice. This act of betrayal fueled Talzin's desire for revenge. The Rise and Fall of Darth MaulMaul, introduced in "The Phantom Menace," was trained by Sidious and became his apprentice. He engaged in an epic battle on Naboo, where he faced Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and was later defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maul's return, marked by new mechanical legs and a thirst for vengeance, set the stage for further conflicts. The Shadow Collective and Maul's Quest for PowerMaul, now a self-proclaimed Sith Lord, took his brother Savage Opress as an apprentice, but their efforts to destroy Kenobi were thwarted. Maul later joined forces with the Death Watch, a militant Mandalorian group, and orchestrated the takeover of Mandalore. This ambitious journey also involved the acquisition of the legendary Darksaber.Mother Talzin's End and the Siege of MandaloreMaul's story continued in the Marvel Comics series "Maul: Son of Dathomir," but the end of Mother Talzin was imminent. Sidious, Count Dooku, and General Grievous set their sights on her, leading to a climactic showdown on Dathomir, with tragic consequences.Maul's reign on Mandalore came to an end, thanks to the heroic efforts of Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, and the 501st Legion. His quest for power led him to form the criminal organization Crimson Dawn, marking another intriguing chapter in his dark journey.Maul and Kenobi: The Final ConfrontationFueled by years of revenge, Maul's last confrontation with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine is a gripping moment in the Star Wars saga. In a final duel, Kenobi's mastery of the Force prevails, bringing a dramatic end to Maul's tragic character arc.

We open on a menacing RED title card and the Radio Announcer reminds us of Savage Opress' creation, rise, and betrayal of Dooku and Asajj Ventress, plus his new mission: to find his brother, Darth Maul.  Dooku and Grievous discuss the rise of something sinister and we cut to Savage terrorizing a Waffle House at a spaceport, where some special dust-laden cargo leads him to a spaceship he commandeers to take him to a planet he believes his brother is on.Anakin and Ahsoka show up at the diner, just to eat, but a lingering darkness like a distant fart tells Anakin something foul is nearby.Sir Hiss shows up to guide Savage through his destination planet, but leads him to a trap as an offering to an old legend "BELOW”...  Who turns out to be Darth Maul, now with his bottom half resembling a robotic Shelob from LOTR, his horns grown out, and his mind driven crazy by the isolation; but all the while holding one thought: REVENGE.Yoda and Obi-Wan sense this awakening... as we come to The End.Another red title card before our Jedi Fortune Cookie "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". The Radio Announcer tells us Maul has been taken back to Mother Talzin. Still messed up in the head, Savage leaves Maul on the ship to find Talzin, and discovers the slaughter of the Nightsisters. Talzin reaches into Maul's mind to pull out his proverbial demons while also giving him new legs to replace the cobbled-together spider legs he had made himself.Maul slaughters innocents and broadcasts it to the Jedi and tells them that Obi-Wan must come alone. Yoda lets him go alone, but senses an unlikely ally will aid him... Asajj Ventress (who just learned of the bounty on Savage's head).Obi-Wan, getting his butt kicked by the horned brothers, is saved when Savage shows up. The four duel it out, but Asajj and Obi-Wan are outmatched and escape. Maul decides that patience is a virtue, and he will be counting on the jedi to try to track him down.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

Asajj Ventress has sought sanctuary with the Nightsisters of Dathomir. She meets with Mother Talzin, who tells Ventress to abandon Dooku and the Sith, and become a true nightsister. A baptismal ceremony changes Ventress' eye color, and a celebration signals her rebirth as a Nightsister. Meanwhile, Dooku learns that Ventress has returned, so he orders Grievous to attack Dathomir and wipe out the Nightsisters. The Separatist fleet arrives, and the battle rages! Ventress leads a counterattack which has some success, until Grievous sends out defoliator tanks to dig through the ditches and burn through the witches. Mother Talzin goes to Old Daka, and asks her to call the army of the dead; apparently she is the last heir of Isildur, so it works. It's zombies vs. robots! Mother Talzin reveals she has a lock of Dooku's hair; she uses it to create a poppet of him and torment via the power of sympathetic magic. Grievous and Ventress stage a lightsaber duel for the fate of the planet, but when Ventress is about to win, Grievous cheats and has his troops intervene. But before they can kill Ventress, Dooku orders them after Mother Talzin to stop the psychic attack on him. Grievous discovers Talzin and Daka. He kills Old Daka, ending the threat of the zombie army, and forces Talzin to turn to mist and flee. The separatist army quickly deals with the remaining nightsisters without their undead reinforcements. Mother Talzin appears in spectral form to Ventress, telling her she has her own path to follow now, then vanishes. With the Nightsister clan wiped out, Assajj is wandering the outer rim looking for her own purpose. She ends up on a desert planet and heads to the bar because she has 4d in genre savvy. She is noticed by Bossk who is a good bounty hunter, but who's real talents lie in team building. A short interview ensues and we head to the hideout where Dengar is annoying and Bossk tells him to shut up. We meet the rest of the crew in Boba Fett and his baroque assassin droid Hi-C? Oh Yeah! The job's a pretty standard escort mission. Our antagonists are super cool looking underworld dwellers and I had to check to make sure that this episode wasn't titled ‘the Crystal Shard.' The under-ninjas have really taken realultimatepower.net to heart and are flipping out all over the place. The bounty hunters are good, but there are too many ninjas. Space Drizzt enters the fight with two awesome electro katanas and proceeds to beat up Boba, solving one of the great nerd debates of all time.We find out that the cargo was Drizzt's sister; Pulma. After the legally distinct and totally unique space Drow are captured, Pulma says that Assajj will never know what it's like to be ripped from the only life she's ever known. Even Boba Fett is powerless before a nat 20 persuasion role. Ventress decides to take charge of the operation, which Boba does not care for.  He fucks around and finds out. Assajj delivers the box and the gross pasha of this planet makes it clear that Pulma is his bride and I do not like this. Ventress collects the bounty, and shock!!! Boba was in the box. Unfortunately for him all humanoids look the same to Belugians and Boba spends a few very unpleasant days before the mix up is discovered.Assajj frees Pulma and Krismo and takes her cut of the bounty. She delivers the remaining shares of the bounty to the rest of the hunters. We get introduced a brand new Zabrak, Savage Opress, Ventress gets even darker, Dooku plays the fool, and Mother Talzin gets handy. Adam and Tom also start to sort through a droid gender controversy that is only a controversy to them as Tom begins to wonder if they have been misgendering droids, Tom also plays some shitty 70's song like 10 times in this episode, and Adam does something very offensive (jk, he doesn't, just needed to put something in for him in the description) Feel free to reach out to us at clonecastpod@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram/twitter @clonecastpod Please rate us 5 stars and and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or your platform of choice! S3E7 - Assassin 3:48Tasked to protect Senator Padmé Amidala during a political mission to Alderaan, Padawan Ahsoka Tano is plagued by recurring visions of recently-deceased bounty hunter, Aurra Sing. Unable to clear her mind, Ahsoka worries that the stress of conflict is finally getting to her until her visions indeed prove prophetic. Padmé narrowly avoids death when Aurra Sing attempts to assassinate her. Together, Padmé and Ahsoka trap the hunter, and Ahsoka discovers the true villain behind the plot to kill Padmé: the incarcerated gangster, Ziro the Hutt.S3E8 - Evil Plans 10:42In the middle of a routine shopping trip on Coruscant, C-3PO is abducted by the bounty hunter Cad Bane. Bane is looking for information about the Senate building on behalf of Jabba the Hutt. Finding C-3PO devoid of useful information, Bane and his accomplices kidnap R2-D2 and extract the vital data, before memory-wiping the droids of the incident, and letting them on their way. S3E9 - Hunt for Ziro 16:37Cad Bane has broken Ziro the Hutt out of prison. The Hutt Council demands that Ziro tell them where he's hidden vital -- and incriminating -- information: a journal detailing the criminal activities of the Hutt families. Ziro makes another daring escape with the help of his estranged (and strange) lover, Sy Snootles. Bane is back on the Hutt's trail -- but he's not the only one. The Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos need to find him too. A chase through the swamps of Nal Hutta leads the pursuers to Ziro's enormous mother, Mama the Hutt, who points them to Teth. It is here, in the secret grave of Ziro's father, that the fugitive Hutt has hidden the diary. When he retrieves it, Snooty reveals her true spots. S3E10 - Heroes on Both Sides 21:42When the Senate begins debating a bill that would eliminate government oversight of the Banking Clan's activities in order to fund the war, Padmé and Ahsoka travel in secret to the capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Amidala attempts to forge a peace agreement with the Separatists, while Ahsoka sees, for the first time, the people of the Confederacy. Padmé's friend, Mina Bonteri, spearheads the peace initiative, and convinces the Separatist Congress to sue for peace. Meanwhile, on Coruscant, Senators Lott Dod and Gume Saam conspire with Banking Clan representative Nix Card and Count Dooku to make the banking deregulation a reality. At Dooku's command, General Grievous engineers an attack at the central power distribution grid on Coruscant, carried out by Separatist demolition droids. S3E11 - Pursuit of Peace 35:14Padmé, Bail Organa and Onaconda Farr attempt to rally Senators in opposition to a bill that would appropriate funds for millions of new clone troops and have disastrous financial consequences for the Republic. Their opposition to the measure, however, soon makes them targets for intimidation and attacks by hired guns. After escaping two hired thugs -- Chata Hyoki and Robonino -- in a harrowing speeder bike chase, Padmé is able to sway the Senate with a stirring account of how the war has affected an everyday civilian, her handmaiden Teckla Minnau.S3E12 - Nightsisters 41:07Troubled by Asajj Ventress' growing prowess with the dark side of the Force, Darth Sidious commands Count Dooku to eliminate her. But Ventress survives Dooku's assassination attempt, and the jilted former apprentice vows to take revenge, enlisting the aid of her kinswomen -- the mystical Nightsisters -- in her sinister scheme. Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters, veils Asajj and her fellow assassins in a cloak of invisibility, and they infiltrate Dooku's palace on Serenno. Though they fail to kill the Count, their use of captured Jedi lightsabers leads Dooku to mistakenly believe that the Jedi have tried to kill him. Interested in protection, he requests a new apprentice from Mother Talzin.

"Revenge" is the second part of a three-part story arc, and the final episode of the fourth season of the Clone Wars (episode 22, if you're in to such things). Among the lessons Obi-Wan learns: not everything you slice in half is dead; Yoda keeps secrets from you that will be to your later benefit; watch out for kicks from cybernetic legs; and he and Asajj Ventress could star in a buddy cop comedy together with all their bantering. Meanwhile, Mother Talzin works some pretty impressive magick to strip Maul of his spider legs, assemble new bipedal ones from the pieces of wrecked battle droids on the desolate surface of Dathomir, and clear his mind of the kind of craziness that otherwise keeps him from functioning like a civilized Sith. Now, instead of spouting nursery rhymes, he's thinking clearly as he indulges in his pure, unfettered hatred. We'll talk about it all, and his first shot at revenge on Kenobi, in this episode. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***

Hyperspace Theories visits The Dark Side in this month’s episode. That’s right, Tricia Barr has a new Star Wars book, which just released in French and Spanish language editions. Before we talk about the book, though, Tricia, B.J., and Kay share our reactions to the latest announcements about the live-action television series for the Disney+ streaming service set to launch next year. Diego Luna returns to play Cassian Andor is a series set prior to the events of Rogue One. Considering Cassian has been in the fight since he was six years old, there’s a lot of story potential in his backstory. In addition, Lucasfilm announced the principal cast for The Mandalorian, including Pedro Pascal in the titular role and a variety of other familiar faces. Each episode, our meta segment is based on the theme of how to speculate wisely about upcoming Star Wars tales. Sometimes that means knowing when to be careful not to draw any big storytelling inferences from material that doesn’t warrant it. This month, that idea definitely applies to a tweet from director – and trusted advisor to J.J. Abrams – Ava DuVernay, who tweeted a photograph of her friend Victoria Mahoney, second unit director on Episode IX, in her office at Pinewood Studios. On the wall behind Mahoney is a “mood board” of imagery, most of which has no direct connection to Star Wars – although the picture of Mahoney in a pink fluffy coat and Vader helmet is certainly the centerpiece. The inspiration on the mood board ranges from Patty Shepard in the spaghetti western The Man Called Noon (1973) to a book of portraits by painter Kehinde Wiley. Though it may not tell us any details about Episode IX, the tweet does give us a stronger sense of Mahoney’s visual eye and the talent she brings to the film. Our storytelling segment features Tricia sharing her thoughts about writing The Dark Side, a new title from Hachette Heroes. Written from an in-universe perspective, the book examines the dark side of the Force through the lens of the characters who wield it, including the Sith, fallen Jedi, the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and the Empire’s Inquisitors. In addition to movie characters like Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and Count Dooku, the book also addresses characters featured in animation and other stories, such as Asajj Ventress, Mother Talzin, the Seventh Sister, and the extended story of Maul, formerly Darth. Although an English edition has not yet been announced, the French (ISBN 978-2017003809) and Spanish (ISBN 978-8416857418) editions are on sale now. Our world-building segment spins off from the news of the Cassian Andor television series. We consider how the Star Wars franchise over time has involved a balance between open-ended stories with no inherent conclusion and closed-ended tales constrained, at least to some extent, by known endpoints. The Mandalorian and Episode IX are examples of the former, while the Cassian series and The Queen’s Shadow fall into the latter, and some stories, such as Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Resistance, have elements of both. In the first six to seven years of the Disney era, the franchise has leaned heavily on backstory and closed-ended stories. While this makes sense to steer clear of the Sequel Trilogy during its development, we consider the implications for the franchise and the fandom that choice has created.   Related Links: Cassian Andor Live-Action Series Announced (starwars.com) Stephen Schiff hired as showrunner for Cassian series (Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter) Pedro Pascal Revealed as The Mandalorian (starwars.com) Contact Information: Hyperspace Theories: Twitter @HyperspacePod Tricia Barr: Twitter @FANgirlcantina; email Tricia@fangirlblog.com B.J. For Episode 9 of Fangirls Going Rogue, Tricia and Teresa decided to have a slumber party. Before our guest arrived, we interviewed Ashley Eckstein. She recapped the incredible response to the Her Universe Star Wars fashion at Star Wars Weekends, then shared some insights into her Marvel line and the San Diego Comic-Con Fashion Show. FANgirl recapped the social media buzz from the show and Popsugar has a gallery of all the fashion from the runway. Fabulous fangirl Consetta Parker of Parker Publicity joined the slumber party. She shared a fascinating look at her path to a geek career and told some cool details about the Rancho Obi-Wan Gala in September. Between pillow fights and glitter throwing a number of topics were discussed, including the wide coverage Star Wars is getting from major media, the Lucas Museum’s choosing its location as Chicago, and the marvelous way Star Wars Katie and the 501st helped another bullied fangirl enjoy her fandom. With Consetta being a huge Harrison Ford fan, talk turned to his injury and fan response to it. Listener feedback was sprinkled throughout the episode. Mother Talzin was the focus of the character discussion. She might be one of the fangirls’ favorite characters. Check out Consetta’s website Parker Publicity for more information.
