Type 2 diabetes used to be called “adult-onset diabetes.” Not anymore. Today, one in three American teens has prediabetes, and diagnoses of type 2 diabetes are climbing rapidly in youths — high schoolers, young adults in their twenties and thirties, and even in children. When diabetes strikes young, it doesn't just start earlier, it progresses faster, becomes more aggressive, and leads to serious complications much sooner. In this episode, Dr. Jedha unpacks the shocking new statistics from the CDC and global research, explores why this epidemic is accelerating among young people, and reveals what the latest studies tell us about their heightened risks, from early blood vessel damage to kidney, eye, and heart complications appearing in their twenties. You'll also hear about the debate over medications in youth, and most importantly, the powerful role of prevention, lifestyle, and family support. If you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, or simply someone concerned about the health of the next generation, this conversation will open your eyes. It's not just a problem for the future, it's happening now. Early action works and together we can help turn the tide! For show notes and resources, please visit: https://Type2DiabetesTalk.comTo share your questions and suggestions, leave us a voice message or email at: https://Type2DiabetesTalk.com/messageExplore our proven programs and services, visit: https://Type2DiabetesTalk.com/programsSubscribe to our free weekly newsletter for podcast updates, valuable nutrition tips and more: https://Type2DiabetesTalk.com/subscribe

By 2016, the Star Wars galaxy was splintered. Disney had bought the keys to the kingdom, and The Force Awakens had opened the floodgates of nostalgia; fans were debating whether the magic still remained. Enter Rogue One, a gritty, grounded war film that not only connected the dots between trilogies but also reminded us what sacrifice actually looks like in a galaxy far, far away. Our Rogue One (2016) Review could be our boldest Star Wars exploration yet. Listen to find out.On this week's Born to Watch, the team rallies on Yavin 4 to break down the boldest entry in Disney's Star Wars canon. Whitey brings the heat with tales of midnight screenings and family rewatches, calling Rogue One the "Everest" of modern Star Wars. Damo, initially underwhelmed, admits it took a second viewing to appreciate the depth and daring of this standalone story. And Bones? Let's just say he came armed with more trivia than a Death Star databank, from K-2SO's comic origins to what Chirrut Îmwe's staff is really made of.The episode begins with the squad sharing their first impressions, ranging from faulty cinema projectors to kids ditching mid-movie, before diving into the film's iconic trailer. Vader's breath. The Rogue One theme. Mon Mothma's icy resolve. It still rocks. The boys dissect what made the trailer work and laugh at the glaringly absent "I rebel" line that somehow vanished between teaser and final cut.Naturally, the Born to Watch crew doesn't just scratch the surface. They dive deep into what makes Rogue One so special: a fresh cast of characters who aren't chosen ones or lightsaber prodigies, but ordinary rebels making impossible choices. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) gets major love for her no-frills attitude, while Diego Luna's Cassian Andor earns newfound respect thanks to the phenomenal Andor series, which Whitey all but begs Damo to finally watch. And then there's K-2SO, the sardonic droid voiced by Alan Tudyk (aka "Two Dicks”, don't ask, just listen). Easily one of the funniest characters in the franchise, K-2 delivers punchlines and gut-punches with equal finesse. The same goes for Donnie Yen's Chirrut and Wen Jiang's Baze, a dynamic duo who bring martial arts, mysticism, and machine guns to the battlefield.Ben Mendelsohn's Director Krennic gets the Aussie shoutout treatment, with the team praising his imperial smugness and exquisite cape work. Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera? A source of debate, gasps, and conspiracy theories, is he a Vader prototype? A puffed-up Darth Hipster? Either way, "Bo Gullet" lives rent-free in everyone's head, even if no one quite understands what he's doing there. And then comes the scene. You know the one. The Vader hallway massacre. It's cinematic perfection, a horror movie, action flick, and fan fantasy rolled into one red lightsaber ignition. The team agrees: it might be the greatest single moment in Star Wars history. Period. From there, it's time for Good, Bad, and Ugly, where the sets, the new worlds (Scarif, Jedha), and the grounded stakes all get high praise. The team relishes how Rogue One finally explains the Death Star's ridiculous design flaw, praises its minimal use of nostalgia, and wonders how Jyn Erso climbs that 500-metre tower without even puffing.Legacy-wise, Rogue One is a billion-dollar box office hit that somehow still feels underrated. No Skywalkers. No prophecy. Just a desperate, beautiful mission and a finale that dares to kill every single lead. The episode wraps with laughs, trivia, a tease of a Star Wars Trivial Pursuit rematch, and a reminder that Rogue One is the rare Disney-era film that actually elevates what came before.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Rogue One the best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy?Would you rather pilot an X-Wing or be one with the Force like Chirrut? In this episode, Dr Jedha speaks with Jeanette, a dedicated member who shares her journey of overcoming confusion and transforming her prediabetes health. With a strong family history of diabetes, Jeanette believed she was managing well until her fasting blood sugars began to rise and she discovered, almost by accident, that she was prediabetic. This sparked a turning point where she decided it was time to take action.Jeanette opens up about the overwhelm of conflicting advice online, how using a continuous glucose monitor revealed the true impact of her food choices, and why finding a supportive, evidence-based program made all the difference. Her commitment has led to prediabetes remission, with nearly 27 pounds lost (12kg), an A1c drop from 5.7 to 5.4, significant cholesterol improvements, and a renewed energy and enjoyment for life.Jeanette's experience is a reminder that small, consistent steps can lead to meaningful health improvements and a much brighter future. It's the end of an era. And so many lives. This week, we trace the ways that Andor knits itself together into the wider tapestry of Star Wars, specifically by tying itself to Rogue One. We question whether the Rebels' sacrifices are cheapened by Luke Skywalker's heroism in Episode IV, define heroism through two key characters—Bix and Nemik—and investigate the reasons why Rebel High Command…is like that.We also name our favorite aspects of Andor, and crown it the ultimate Star Wars show.New to Growing Up Skywalker? Free cross-over episode with the Bang-Bang Podcast. In this finale to our Andor series, Van and Lyle are joined by returning guest Paul Adlerstein and—making his first appearance on the pod—Matt Duss, former foreign policy advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders and current executive vice president at the Center for International Policy. The conversation spans the closing arc of Andor Season 2 and Rogue One, treating them as one long meditation on revolutionary grief, sacrifice, and strategy. We reflect on Kleya Marki's backstory, Deedra Meero's karmic consignment to the labor camps, and the quiet closure of Bix Caleen's journey from warrior to survivor, cradling new life in a liberated field. We also discuss Cassian's confrontation with the rebel leadership and his scathing defense of Luthen Rael. Namely, his accusation that those who sit in safety have committed only a fraction of the sacrifice they demand of others. As well as Bail Organa's (wink wink, nod nod) “May the Force be with you, captain,” sealing the fate of Cassian's transition from hunted thief to selfless insurgent. In our Rogue One discussion, we note the apocalyptic awe of Krennic's “Oh, it's beautiful” as he watches Jedha obliterated, a moment that recalls the real-world language of U.S. reporters and officials after Hiroshima.Check out the Bang-Bang Podcast and subscribe: https://www.bangbangpod.com/
The finale of Andor streamed more than a month before this podcast. Why? Well, it's not because this episode was too confusing or too long. "Jedha, Kyber, Erso" is a fitting season and series finale and doesn't botch the landing. It starts off with the action that was promised at the end of episode 11 and finishes with a surprise in a field of gold.Kleya is not welcomed with open arms on Yavin, but she should be. Her name hasn't been thrown about as a hero of the rebellion, maybe only because she seemed to outlive many of the ones who knew her true contributions. A model spy, was she. Cassian and Melshi (and K-2SO, of course) saved her in the nick of time, not just for her safety, but the freedom of the galaxy. It's nice to see so many Imperials frustrated instead of reframing them as misunderstood. They're the villains. We understand they're evil. Not every story thread gets answered. Not every character gets a happy ending. The show has done more for Star Wars than I think Lucasfilm and Disney would care to admit, since it didn't fall prey to any of the agenda as Tony Gilroy steered his own series almost completely without critique. I don't consider this a model to follow, unless you have a mind like Gilroy who can assemble the right team. The show is over and so is the coverage, but you can always send in a comment to the email address we reveal in our podcasts. A good subject line will help set you apart from spam. There are other ways to interact with This is the Way Podcast, like via Instagram or 'X' (@This is the Way Podcast) or on Facebook, YouTube, or Spotify, but we also have a Discord channel. May Disney and Lucasfilm see the light and figure out a way to bring us more stories with Kleya, Vel, Wil, and the growing gang of rebels, and of course, May the Force be with us!
And here we are—the finale. Jedha has become more than a city. It's a symbol, a fault line, a scream in the Force that won't be silenced. In this final chapter, we reflect on the groups, the ideologies, and the raw, overwhelming tension that shaped everything. What happened here will echo across the galaxy. You won't want to miss a second of it.Cast:Eric Vassar as Creighton SunDonna Maxwell as Aida ForteZane Washington as MesookJaxon Cole as PiralliMicheal Mangly as EnsembleKorin Dane as Elder DelwinSmantha porter as Silandra ShoKorin Dane as SelikMike Lockley as Tilson GrafLisa Moon as The MotherTalia Wright as MeldanMaria Jackson as MoonaDarin Colt as Keth CerapathNira Smith as Gella NattaiMatt Flinn as The HeraldAriana Storm as Ambassador CeroxJason Odiega as Mytion David Dockerson as KradonErika Ozborn as Marda RoScrip Preparation by Matti TurnerSound design by Theodor ThomsonWe hope you enjoy today's show. Jedha. Ancient, sacred, and anything but peaceful these days. The Force is stirring, and whispers echo through the corridors of power. In this episode, we begin our journey into the heart of the Holy City, where the Jedi, the Path of the Open Hand, and a dozen other factions circle each other like Rancors in a pit. If you thought this was going to be a quiet pilgrimage… You clearly haven't been to Jedha.Cast:Eric Vassar as Creighton SunDonna Maxwell as Aida ForteZane Washington as MesookJaxon Cole as PiralliMicheal Mangly as EnsembleKorin Dane as Elder DelwinSmantha porter as Silandra ShoKorin Dane as SelikMike Lockley as Tilson GrafLisa Moon as The MotherTalia Wright as MeldanMaria Jackson as MoonaDarin Colt as Keth CerapathNira Smith as Gella NattaiMatt Flinn as The HeraldAriana Storm as Ambassador CeroxJason Odiega as Mytion David Dockerson as KradonErika Ozborn as Marda RoScrip Preparation by Matti TurnerSound design by Theodor ThomsonWe hope you enjoy today's show.
