Preserving Our Democracy and Our Environment
This single host podcast commentary on the latest developments in three of the former president's trials and also how as president he destroyed any progress we made in addressing climate change as well as what he has said he would do if elected......thank you and please promote these podcasts.
Today's podcast discussion features SCOTUS decisions, Mitch McConnell and attacks on Women's rights on the political side and the dangers from the eroding Greenland Glaciers.
In today's podcast we looked at the craziness in the House of Representatives as well the decision by the Alabama Supreme Court determining that a fetus is in fact a child. Our commentary on the environment focused on a major pollutant: plastic. In every facet of our environment: air, soil and water, plastic in all forms is present. Even in our own bodies.......
Our focus is on the latest in election news and the dangers to our most valuable and needed resource: fresh, clean water. With this being the election year, we need to reach a large audience, please share our podcast information. We plan on at least one podcast each week. Thank you for your support.
Today, you will notice a change in our format. Each podcast will contain a segment on politics and a segment on threats to the environment. We will include a new end called "Teddy Says" these will be quotes by Theodore Roosevelt. Welcome to the new format, please spread the word.
Iowa is the beginning of election season and is quickly approaching! The former president's attorneys are trying every gambit to save him. Anti-Semitism is running rampant, even in US colleges and universities. This and more today.
What was your Thanksgivings like? Check out the memories and foibles that we remember. A different kind of podcast to remember and give thanks. On this Thanksgiving, thank you for your support!
Discussion of episodes of violence and potential violence. Also, discussion of what a second term presidency would be like if Trump gets back in the White House...... Stay tuned for a different kind of podcast next week!
This is a wide ranging and at times angry episode. The primary topics were based on the title of the podcast but also led to some very strong opinions that went beyond......Have fun listening!
Still nearly 400 people are unaccounted for on the Island of Maui. Accusations of improper actions by the electric company abound as a major cause. A first: former president facing charges and having a "mug" shot and fingerprints. 18 co-conspirators in the same situation. This preceded by a GOP debate missing the front runner. And the "investigation crazy" House Judiciary Committee led by Jim Jordan planning on investigating the Fulton County Georgia DA Willis.....altogether a busy week. Thanks for viewing. Please recommend us to your friends.
The attempts by the former president to overturn the voting results in Georgia have led to Trump and 18 others being indicted in Fulton County Georgia. Some of his closest advisors both in and out of the government have joined him in this state indictment that had the intent of robbing thousands of Georgians of our legitimate votes. This is the third major indictment of a person who refuses to face reality and has convinced millions to join in a world refusing to accept he lost the election by millions of votes and a large plurality of the Electoral College.
Our podcast topics centered on three themes. The tragic wildfire in Hawaii, especially Lahaina with its horrific loss of life. And the continued legal battles facing the former president. The third topic, here Karen was the expert as it is her home turf, was the defeat of a bill that would stiffen and likely end the ability of citizens to amend the Ohio Constitution by referendum. Note: this video podcast is a bit longer than usual. Thanks for viewing. Spread the word!
We began our podcast discussing the very wild and crazy climate events around the country and the world. This included how climate change has particularly affected people of color. This led to a general concern of how Black History is being rewritten in various states, particularly Florida.
Busy time for news from wildfire smoke again covering US cities to the tragedy at the Titanic grave yard. We discuss the latest from the Supreme Court (not the very latest on ending affirmative action in higher education), Thanks for viewing. Clue your friends and colleagues about us. Thanks for viewing.
We begin with a discussion of the frantic search for a submarine with five people aboard, lost on its way to view the Titanic. As of the time of our podcast, its fate was still unknown. Now we know that there was a tragic event and all of those aboard have perished. Our main topic was the indictment of the former president, how he has responded and what some of his GOP supporters in Congress are saying. We also discussed the censure of Representative Adam Schiff of California. Thank you viewing.
We begin this episode with the last topic first: Former president has been federally indicted for how he handled classified documents he was not supposed to possess in the first place. Another first for this politician. How the GOP has reacted as well. Second topic was SCOTUS rejecting Alabama's House redistricting. The last was the main topic: Climate Change and how it is being evidenced and also about deniers. Thanks for viewing By the way there is a one question poll at the end of the podcast.
Our introduction today was a celebration of the hit Starz series set in Scotland and other venues in the 18th Century via World Outlander Day. Included my beginning visual interpretation of my favorite character Dougal MacKenzie played by the great Graham MacTavish. On from there to the latest episode in the saga of the former president and classified documents, we concluded with a discussion of GOP candidates. thanks for viewing!
Our podcast leads off with a discussion and salute to those who have served in our Armed Forces and honoring those who died in that service. The main topic after that was how our government has become so dysfunctional, especially at the national level. Over the past 6 years we have had a president who minimized a world wide pandemic that took over 1 million American lives, a Supreme Court justice that does not follow even the minimal ethics required of them and a very minimal GOP House majority that prefers pain for the majority of Americans rather than more taxes on the very wealthy.
We are in dangerous economic times as we come close to default on our national debt. What that means for everyone. Bonus discussion of the NH town hall last night and brief discussion of George Santos criminal charges and the E Jean Carroll jury decision.
A different direction today. We look at Bullying from both a personal viewpoint and what many face in their daily lives. While focusing on children, we also look at how adults can be bullied, lately in politics, even.
Kinsley White, Kaylin Gillis, Payton Washington, Heather Roth and Ralph Yarl. These five names should never be forgotten. All five were innocent young people shot simply because they were at the wrong place, somewhere a human being was willing to shoot to kill another human being. Something is desperately wrong here......we discuss and comment on these and also another mass shooting, this time in Alabama.......
With the brief exception of a discussion on the leaked materials, today's podcast focuses on environmental disasters. Some through greed, some because of our unwillingness to make hard choices. Florida floods, California fear of a too fast snow melt, explosion and fire in Indiana and more. We considered what we have wrought upon our home planet.........
In this episode, we discuss the charges that the former president faced. We also looked at issues facing SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas. Commentary on the events in the Tennessee legislature where two young Black members were expelled for not following the chamber's decorum rules and the pushback against the GOP that did not remove a white woman who also was facing the same fate.
In this episode, Karen and I discuss the bombshell division to begin to hold the former president legally accountable for his actions. This is likely the first of several indictments and perhaps may be the most minor of them all. Georgia issues and Federal issues including the fomenting of the January 6 Insurrection may cause legal difficulties for the former president and candidate. We also commented on the ways the GOP is trying to protect him including leading officials of the House majority (remember only 5 votes)...thanks for listening
We look at two upcoming GOP "stars" in this video podcast: Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis. With Governor DeSantis, we take a closer look at his actions in Florida regarding education, race and women's rights. We also discuss the GOP plan to hold the Debt Ceiling hostage for budget cuts and what effects that would have on all of America.
Is this podcast, we look at the MLK message in front of the Lincoln Memorial. This is the famous "I have a Dream" speech. From excerpts of this speech, we look at where the nation was then, also in the past time since the Emancipation and forward to where we are today. We are nowhere near achieving his dream, though most of us aspire to that dream (at least we hope so). This was a frank and open discussion about the inequalities we still see including, housing and especially economic and education as well as the criminal justice system. We also brought up how some states are limiting the teaching of true racial history so as not to make white people "feel bad". If history does not makes us uncomfortable at times, we are not learning the real history. Thanks for watching/listening.
We began this podcast with a quick review of the end of the World Cup Final game. Congratulations to Argentina and a close and very entertaining end to the premier world "football" championship. We then discussed the final report of the House Select Committee on January 6th. The most important point made is that no one is nor should be above the law. The Committee made referrals in four areas to the DOJ for criminal charges to the former president. The final charge is the most consequential and hardest to convict - engage in insurrection or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof - at the time of the podcast, the Ways and Means Committee had not yet voted on the former president's tax data being made public. As we now know, he was not under audit until the Committee requested copies. Not a good 48 hours........
Discussion of the results of this Tuesday's run off election here in Georgia and what it means for Democrats, GOP, Georgia and Trump. Herschel Walker was a flawed candidate and would have lost by more if Governor Kemp had not came to his aid during the run-off. Additional topics discussed were the newly passed Marriage Act and Britney Griner's release.
In the opening segment, we discuss the Georgia Run-Off prior to knowing the successful results. Much of our podcast is dedicated to the former president's post that the US Constitution should be put aside and. he be made president. A definite threat to Democracy. Brief discussion of the success of the UGA SEC championship and future Peach Bowl appearance.....
The first part of our podcast is a discussion about the history and meaning of Veteran's Day (originally Armistice Day). The second part is commentary on the midterms - no "Red Wave" and still ongoing vote counting in several areas including the Georgia Run Off between incumbent Reverend Raphael Warnock and Trump backed Herschel Walker. High stakes are still out there.
This co-hosted podcast was a discussion on the problems facing the nation because of this election. Lies and distortions. Candidates supported by the former president are being boosted by the GOP establishment, no matter how bad a background they possess. Other topics as well....... https://youtu.be/SWZyv-ayrMg YouTube Video of this podcast
In just a couple of days, the former president had several setbacks from the Master, the 11th Court of Appeals the NYS Attorney General. Not a good week for the ex-president..... video: https://youtu.be/1vH5DCP8sOc
Commentary on the decision by the Federal Judge on Classified Documents that had not been turned over to the Archives as legally required and also other related issues.
Latest co-hosted session. We discuss the memorials for the British Queen, trouble for Trump's inner circle, Tom Brady's marriage woes and other topics video of podcast: https://youtu.be/j4Gz3FsWyRg
In this episode we talk about the former president's continued attempts to stall the investigation of his retaining classified documents in his winter home. Additional topics include inflammatory remarks by US Senator Lyndsey Graham and the surprising attacks on the FBI by MAGA GOP'ers. Thanks for listening and viewing. Video: https://youtu.be/M9i_5PvgcHk
Every part of a presidential administration is required to be preserved in the National Archives. Papers, documents, phone logs, gifts become property of the nation, not the outgoing president and must be turned over to the Archives. Former President Trump took it upon himself to move large numbers of these materials to his home in Florida. Included in these were many classified materials, some at the highest levels of classification because of their grave threat to our nation because of their content. Unfortunately, far too many of his supporters has used the FBI recovery actions to attack this most important agency. In this audio/visual discussion, we look at from the viewpoint of my co-host who, in fact, in her military position would have access to classified materials. With discussion and commentary. thanks for listening/watching Youtube video: https://youtu.be/wixlA6qG07I
In this podcast, Karen and I discuss and comment on three major topics: the backpedaling of the PACT ACT by Senate Republicans; The Saudi Sponsored Golf Tournament just minutes from 9/11 Ground Zero; and the surprise of Joe Manchin backing a bill that goes farther in addressing climate change than anyone would have expected. Just a month ago, the majority of the Senate GOP signed on to a bill that would assist military members who had sustained damage to various organs from toxic fumes in burn pits during the Middle East conflicts. From lung cancer to kidney damage, thousands of those who were sent to these conflicts have suffered. This act would have eased their ability to obtain VA services. This past week over two dozen of those senators reversed course and blocked the bill.......
In this episode we discuss and comment on the actions taken by the former president and some of his supporters to overturn the will of the people. We look at the timeline and his actions and actions by both those who fed him false narratives and those who told him the reality that he lost the election. Some discussion of the hearings is also included. More of this topic will be discussed in future podcasts. Thanks for listening. Here is the link to video of this podcast: https://youtu.be/uOsfGdZOBwE
Co-hosted episode: topics include a couple of disturbing events in the state of Ohio, one also involves Indiana as well, the falsehoods of the former president's pick to run for the Senate in Georgia and GOP plans to disrupt Congress and the Oval Office if they are put in the House of Representatives majority in November's election. Thanks for listening and watching
Latest co-hosted podcast with our takes on what is going on in the US and around the world. Please Note: technical glitch near the end caused some feedback and an abrupt end to the podcast without the usual closing. Video: https://youtu.be/jLB2-OpXtIM
Latest co-hosted news and views. We explore current and relevant topics taken from what it happening around the world. video link:https://youtu.be/VtOTMJuh0VQ
This is a co-hosted podcast where we discuss the effects of the latest decision from the ultra-conservative Supreme Court. Does not bode well for interpreted rights in other areas either. Along with the relaxing of gun control this past week, a disastrous week for our nation. We have become the wonder of the world as most other nations are going the other way. thanks for listening.
In today's podcast, Karen and I discuss several current topics. These include climate change effects, Congressional hearings, economics. Stay tuned for more topics on future co-hosted podcasts. Check out the complete video: https://app.iris.fm/r/B2LzTkwBrNS79rh4XZiZFH4e
A remembrance of the sacrifices men and women have made for us today. On this Memorial Day, let us remember the unity and freedom they fought for. We need to take a moment and reflect on what they gave and instead of talking at each other we need to talk WITH each other sharing what we have in common, not our differences. Whatever separates us: race, gender, religion, politics is minor when you consider all that we remember and honor on this day. I am frustrated, angry, sad all at the same time. 19 children murdered while the police on the scene stood around waiting for the command to go in. The GOP politicians send their thoughts and prayers but refuse to do the right thing, reasonable gun laws. In this segment, I did not address what needs to be done by law, just something must be done. Guns designed for warfare have no place in the hands of civilians. Manufacturers wanted to make money on their military models.....and now these weapons are in the hands of anyway with money to buy them. Tonight's podcast focuses on some instances of the Big Lie. A dangerous lie so much repeated by those in power that people believe it. Discussion of four of these "Big Lies" from Hitler to Putin....thanks for listening. Music: Hero's Time
My co-host (daughter) decided you wanted to lead on an undisclosed topic. So she did. To my surprise, she wanted to discuss our recent purchases of an Oculus Quest 2. When they visited, she decided, after trying out mine, that she wanted one. So it was our topic. It sound like an infomercial for one, but neither of us are getting paid for it, lol......It was fun sharing experiences.....
In this podcast, Karen and I discuss the war in the Ukraine. Some history and current situation as well as the sad humanitarian crisis.
President Biden took office with the nation divided and no plans by the former administration to end the pandemic. By April/May everyone 18 and older had the opportunity to be vaccinated. But the majority of Republicans refused. The result Delta - infections, hospitalizations and deaths increased. Still resistance, in comes Omicron and the results are once again but even more infections and hospitalizations. Even within his own party, he cannot count on support for what needs to be done. One senator blocks most of the agenda that would help many in his own state. Sad. Let's put the blame not on the current president but on the former one and his apologists......... After a six month absence from political commentary, I have felt the need to once again enter the political realm. My website will remain committed to my changes, but most of my podcasts, hosted and otherwise will be based on the dangerous world and threat to our Democracy. Stay tuned......... While watching the Church services we follow this morning, I was suddenly struck by parallels from how the same people who flaunt the Constitution and the goals of the Declaration of Independence while claiming to be patriots also do the same thing with the Bible, particularly the New Testament while claiming to be good "Christians". My thoughts were not really political or religious but rather amazed by the similarities. Thanks for listening and God Bless......
