When a prominent politician does a town hall in Iowa, it sort of defines the unofficial start to the upcoming presidential cycle and their campaign in earnest to win the office. That's just ... tradition. So when former South Bend, Indiana mayor and U.S. Transportation Pete Buttigieg hosted a town hall with VoteVets Wednesday night, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a full 1,272 days before Election Day, November 7, 2028, it's as if we could say both that "he's running for President" and "the 2028 cycle has begun."Right? While he's taking on swipes from current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy (Trump's lumberjack) and the current President, Pete's out there meeting people in a red state where GOP House members have been told not to. Oh, and while Duffy's whining about what should have been fixed when Joe Biden & Pete were in charge of the FAA, he should be reminded he is among 180 Republicans who voted against additional (and obviously needed) FAA funding. Watch the full town hall & decide for yourself: is Pete running?
In this episode Dinesh contrasts the feverish energy of the Trump administration with the inaction of the GOP House and Senate to raise the question, “Where’s Congress?” Dinesh explores what can be done to stop judges from interfering in the routine apprehension and deportation of criminal illegals. Dinesh reveals the big issue that defined Reagan’s career and unified his domestic and foreign policy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Four Senate Republicans are joining a growing number of GOP House lawmakers publicly expressing their support for keeping the clean energy tax credits in Democrats' Inflation Reduction Act. POLITICO's Josh Siegel, who obtained the letter with those lawmakers' position, breaks down why there's a growing number of Republicans defending the IRA's green incentives and how this could set up an intra-party fight over President Donald Trump's domestic agenda. Plus, President Trump's pick to lead the Interior Department's agency in charge of public lands oversight abruptly withdrew her nomination on Thursday. Josh Siegel is an energy reporter for POLITICO. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN for this week's Astro News You Can Use podcast @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking which covers how, as we're now at the first quarter monthly lunar square of the Cancer Moon to the Aries Sun April 4, a major shift is reverberating through our global collective consciousness. This podcast starts with a recap of the effects of eclipse season & what's taken place between March 13 & now--including notable accidents, fires, natural disasters, and other events of a physical nature such as military bombings, & the incarceration of those who protest war. For example, in addition to the devastating storms that raged through the U.S. after the March 13/14 Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse, and just before the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse on March 29, we learned of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. The massive destruction there has now left 3,455 people dead, another 4,715 people injured, and 341 missing, according to Myanmar's military-led government. We discuss also what's occurred between the inferior conjunction of the Sun in Aries to Venus retrograde on March 22 and its heliacal rising circa March 29, which echoes the themes of this eclipse series--with the addition of the fall from grace of prominent people. This theme was mirrored in last night's removal by the high court of the South Korean president after he instituted martial law back on December 12, 2024, and may represent a harbinger of the future elsewhere. Here in America, there are plenty of people losing their positions, such as unelected billionaire Elon Musk who's responsible for major labor cuts and funding throughout the federal government that's just now beginning to take effect by touching peoples lives personally. An object of American & Canadian anger, Musk is reportedly due to step down as a "special government employee" who's head of the Department of Government Efficiency sometime in May. However, he will remain an advisor to President Trump. But the real news is that the tide is beginning to turn as voters in Wisconsin elected a democrat to the state's supreme court on April 2, reducing GOP influence in a swing state that voted overwhelmingly for Trump last November. And, although two GOP House representative won their special elections in deep red regions of Florida, the turnout there severely alarmed GOP operatives as the percentages of those wins dropped drastically from last November. In addition, the democrats in Congress show signs of beginning to wake up and fight back since this Aries solar eclipse & as we approach the waxing cardinal first quarter monthly lunar “crisis in action” square on April 4. Even some hardcore GOP members of Congress are now objecting to Trump's massive tariffs on nearly all foreign nations that trade with America. These eclipses, combined with Mercury's retrograde period starting on March 14 at the lunar eclipse, have included a review of trade contracts & agreements. Between the combination of Venus retrograde from March 1 through April 12 & Mercury's retrograde cycle from March 14 through April 7, we've seen the weakening of global partnerships (Venus) with America mainly through the issue of trade (Mercury.) And, as the U.S. continues to maintain its isolationist “us versus them” stance on trade and its expansionist threats against its partners, retaliation is threatened by these partners (Aries)—again. Fingers crossed that mercurial unpredictable President Trump will come to a final conclusion on his tariff threats, due to go into effect on April 5, by the time Mercury stations direct again on April 7.Such threats have already tanked the financial markets, alarming many, even though the jobs report today was a positive one. But the federal worker cuts have not hit the unemployment stats yet, and we have not yet felt the full brunt of economic effects based on the increase in prices of goods imported into the U.S. Economists' estimates this will cost the average American between $1600 & $3,800 per year--which essentially amounts to a rise in taxes. As people begin to wake up to all of this and how it will affect them & those they love personally, attitudes are beginning to shift in alignment with the post Aries New Moon solar eclipse energies. In addition, Neptune's ingress into Aries on March 30 is slowly allowing the birth of a new consciousness around the world's current predicament to arise and events indicate now that action will follow.Looked at symbolically, NY Senator Cory Booker's record breaking 25+ hour speech on the Senate floor on April 2 that excoriated Trump, Musk, and others for their careless, callous edicts & actions (here's lookin' at you Pete Hegseth & Mike Waltz), represented the birth of a new political awakening & retaliatory defiance. In addition, a new era is heralded by Neptune's entrance into Aries for the next fourteen years until 2038. Since Neptune rules the natural 12th House of gestation, and Mars-ruled Aries the proactivity necessary for the act of birth, we're witnessing now the birth of consciousness within the collective that the old order is falling away and a new one will eventually mature into adulthood. While we're still a long way from that phase of Neptune in Aries, we know that Neptune will be joined soon by Saturn in Aries on May 24. And that this CAN herald a time of greater psychological understanding within the national collective. Why? Because we'll be able to overcome any egoic blockages (Saturn) by bridging the gap (Aries) between the rational conscious ego and the irrational intuitive waters that lie deep within the unconscious (Neptune.) After all, it's Neptune that intuitively understands that we are all brothers & sisters under the skin, AND that in Aries, we'll be willing to fight for our freedoms based on that simple truth.Check out this and more Astro News You Can Use details starting today at https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking as we look closer at the astrological influences currently in play, including next week's April 12 Libra Full Moon square to Mars in Cancer! See you later! Namaste…

Hosts: Erin Rider and Leah Murray Trump, Biden both looking for ways to prevent TikTok ban In just three days, TikTok will no longer be allowed to operate in the United States. We’re waiting to find out if SCOTUS will interject. But in the meantime, President-elect Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden are both seeking possible ways to prevent a TikTok ban, including through executive orders. Would it work, even though Congress passed the bipartisan law? GOP House leaders ask Pres.-elect Trump to scale back executive order plans The incoming president has often touted the many executive orders he plans to sign within hours of taking office. However, House Republican leaders are pushing back, asking him to scale back his plans so they can tackle some of the former administration’s policies through budget reconciliation. The Inside Sources hosts share their thoughts on this potentially looming disagreement. Pres. Biden gives dark, gloomy farewell address In his 15-minute farewell address to the nation last night, President Joe Biden took a rather dark approach to his messaging, warning the country about a technology industrial complex he called an “oligarchy.” This was his ‘swan song’ -- his final speech after 50 years of public service. Was the messaging right, or should he have taken a lighter approach? Inside Sources digs into it. On the Hill 2025: Previewing legislation on offender registry lists Inside Sources continues previewing legislation ahead of the 2025 Legislative General Session, which begins in five days. State Representative Andrew Stoddard is running a bill that would address some ‘cracks in the system’ relating to the Sex, Kidnapping, and Child Abuse Offender Registry. He joins the program to explain what he’s hoping to do through his legislation. SLC Mayor Mendenhall releases comprehensive public safety plan Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall has released her plan to improve public safety and tackle homelessness in Utah's capital city. It comes following a "strongly worded" letter last month from state leaders, giving her a deadline to create a plan by January 17th. The Inside Sources hosts discuss some of the key points and share their thoughts on whether the plan sufficiently addresses the letter from the state. On the Hill 2025: Previewing legislation on protecting child welfare workers We’ve discussed the need to protect children from abuse on KSL NewsRadio several times throughout 2024. But one often overlooked part of the conversation deals with child welfare workers – who protects them as they do their job? State Senator Evan Vickers joins Inside Sources to discuss a piece of legislation he’s running that would focus on this. On the Hill 2025: Previewing legislation on child labor amendments Every so often, you might see a news story reporting on a business that gets in trouble for child labor. According to State Representative Melissa Garff Ballard, publicity and a warning are often the only real punishments those businesses get. She joins Inside Sources to outline a new bill she’s working on that would provide stricter punishments and more oversight regarding child employment. College admissions exams – are they outdated or still relevant? Inside Sources hosts Leah Murray and Erin Rider have both done a lot of schooling throughout their lives. And that schooling has often required admissions exams. There’s new discussion nowadays about ending college admissions exams; Leah and Erin walk through the pros and cons and give their thoughts.

California fires are latest example of bad policy and harmful culture purging itself out of society. Discussion of example of failed policies and bad leaders...will we learn our lesson? They explain why this slim margin leaves little room for defections or other unexpected setbacks over the next two years. Finally, they react to reports of the State Department hosting therapy sessions, including a "cry session," for employees struggling to cope with Trump's victory—on the taxpayers' dime. This is a different type of episode this week as I have borrowed the audio from a panel I was part of last Thursday (10/24/24) to discuss the upcoming 2024 elections. This panel is hosted by the government affairs firm Husch Blackwell Strategies, and the video link can be accessed here.
