The PACT Act brought a wave of hope for veterans and a promise of recognition for their service. But what happens when that promise is targeted by those seeking to exploit the very people it was meant to help? Join us as we delve into the alarming rise of predatory claims companies – businesses illegally preying on veterans navigating the complexities of their earned VA benefits. This isn't a matter of policy; it's about safeguarding those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. In this podcast Jim Marszalek, DAV National Service Director, and Scott Hope, Deputy National Service Director for Training, to expose the tactics of these "claims sharks," clarify the legal landscape, and most importantly, highlight the free, trusted resources available to veterans through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Learn how to identify these predatory practices and understand why DAV believes no veteran should ever have to pay for assistance with their VA claims.

The Department of Veterans Affairs inspector general says about a quarter of all PACT Act related claims it reviewed over a year were issued incorrect effective dates, resulting in nearly $7 million in improper payments. The IG says a lack of training is mainly to blame and recommended creating a job aid for claims processors.   Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In this era of VA budget cuts and workforce layoffs, we talked about it with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Communications Chief, Air Force veteran Dan Clare. After a recent meeting with VA Secretary Doug Collins, who recently spoke at DAV's Mid-Winter Conference, Clare shared how Collins claimed his #1 priority was taking care of our vets, but did not offer any details about how exactly he's going to do it. Clare explains that massive cuts to VA staff, seems ill-advised considering over 800K new veterans have recently registered for VA care and over 1M claims have been filed, since the PACT Act, toxic exposure bill, became law three years ago. We also dove into the benefit claims process, and how DAV is there to help all veterans get their applications processed and ensure they stand a chance at getting approved. Clare also discussed alternative health care treatment options DAV members want to see in the future. And although DAV members hope the new administration will deliver results, they have yet to hear anything specific from VA or when they will deliver promising new treatments. If you're a vet who has been affected by federal layoffs or cancelled contracts … Contact DAV so they can share your opinions here: https://www.dav.org/defend-veteran-jobs/ DAV has support for all veterans submitting VA benefit claims. Find the help you need navigating your benefits process here: https://www.dav.org/find-your-local-office/ About DAV: https://www.dav.org/ We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. This mission is carried forward by: Providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government. Providing outreach concerning its program services to the American people generally, and to disabled veterans and their families specifically. Representing the interests of disabled veterans, their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before Congress, the White House and the Judicial Branch, as well as state and local government. Extending DAV's mission of hope into the communities where these veterans and their families live through a network of state-level Departments and local Chapters. The public sphere once again bears witness to a distressing spectacle of President Joe Biden demonstrating discernible difficulty articulating his thoughts smoothly. This observation, catapulting its way across social media networks, has ignited fresh apprehensions about his capacity to uphold the demanding office for another term of four years. Just recently, President Biden journeyed to the granite state, New Hampshire, aiming to elucidate upon the ramifications of the PACT Act. This legislation from 2022 is a step forward in facilitating veterans to avail benefits in response to harmful exposure during their tenure of duty, as highlighted by Fox News. However, a clip promptly circulated on social media platforms, detracting from the primary message of his address. In this particular clip, the President could be seen grappling with the correct pronunciation of the act's name, sending ripples across social community spaces. Corinne Clark Barron, a founding member of FreePressFail, mirrored this sentiment with her remarks, highlighting Biden's struggle to name this critical legislation. The quote that went viral swiftly across digital platforms stemmed from Barron's sardonic statement: 'Ah, yes. Asjiojfeijgergewefhahohoiore. The landmark legislation of the Biden administration.'See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The VA Secretary mandated this toxic exposure risk for all VA workers through the Covid- 19 mandates, yet included a policy that the Toxic Exposure Risks cannot be claimed due to any vaccination! AND The VA Secretary mandated this toxic exposure risk for all VA workers through the Covid- 19 mandates, yet included a policy that the Toxic Exposure Risks cannot be claimed due to any vaccination! In our conversation with Sonny, we talk about the VA cover-up and immense fraud surrounding this policy and how veterans can seek accountability through the filing of claims. We discuss how to get your own whistleblower complaint FOIA'd and released to the public in a timely manner and hear from Sonny the sad reality that whistleblowers are not necessarily provided protection, but instead guaranteed silencing and censored. Sonny Fleeman is a combat veteran and medically retired Non-commissioned officer from the Army National Guard's infantry. Following the conclusion of his civilian law enforcement career due to combat-related health conditions, he joined the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2017. Sonny has since been dedicated to his role as a Rating Veteran Service Representative. Beyond his professional duties, he actively participates in the non-profit group Feds For Freedom and is a signatory of the Declaration of Military Accountability.
