Hi Webtalkers! I am writing this message from the comfort of my own home. Like many of you, working from home will be the new norm for the next few weeks. We are living in unprecedented times. The outbreak of the Coronavirus will change all our lives during the upcoming months. Yes, it will have an affect on all aspects of our lives including economically and socially. The good news is that it will pass. In the meantime, we must support each other in every possible way. WebtalksNI will also be changing during this period. Our focus has always been to bring you ‘good news’ stories from the tech industry in Northern Ireland. We focused on self-taught developers and brought you background information on jobs like SCRUM Masters and Product Owners. We highlighted certain technologies and what hiring managers are currently looking for. Now we must change tactics. We have already started recorded a mini-series on career tips. We recorded one a few weeks ago on ‘Why you should use a recruiter’ and in this week’s episode we are covering ‘Counteroffers’. We will also be bringing you episodes on how to stay connected with your team, recruit and on-board staff remotely. We will be talking to candidates who secured jobs in a fully remote recruitment process. We will be talking to clients so we can share their experiences. We would still like to highlight individuals and companies in the tech sector so please do reach out to me if you have a story to share. If you would like to see a certain topic covered then we would love to hear your ideas. Life will go on and when this is all over, hopefully, we will be in a stronger position. In the meantime, stay safe and stay healthy.
