Bad assumptions. Change that. Assumptions of any kind. They simply ruin your negotiation process. Any time you speak first, you're making an assumption. Anytime you're thinking, you're making an assumption. I know this sounds ridiculous, but unless you actually have a job offer in hand, you don't know what the employer is thinking.
