Staying strong and independent can be a challenge as we age. Today, I'm excited to have Susan Servetnick, a physical therapist and osteoporosis specialist, talk about the importance of functional exercises for women with osteoporosis. Susan shares three must-do exercises that can help you stay independent, strong, and fracture-free, no matter your age. The first exercise we cover is the hip hinge squat, which teaches you how to get out of a chair properly, activating your core, glutes, and legs without straining your back. Next, we dive into the step-back lunge, which helps you build leg strength and prepare for life's functional movements. Finally, we talk about the push-up–yes, push-ups! These strengthen your upper body and help build bone density, especially in the wrist. Susan explains how to progress safely through each exercise and make them work for you to help you build strength and confidence, ensuring you stay active and independent as you age. "While balance training and exercise won't necessarily prevent you from losing your balance, the goal is to improve your ability to regain control after you do. What we're really training is the body's reflexes–teaching yourself to correct a stumble and prevent it from turning into a fall." ~ Susan Servetnick, MA, PT In this episode: [02:31] - The hip hinge squat: get out of a chair safely and strengthen your legs [08:51] - Progressing the exercises safely, and the role of core activation [20:09] - The step-back lunge: building leg strength and improving balance [30:03] - Push-ups for building upper body strength and bone density [37:33] - Creative challenges to improve strength and balance [40:59] - The push-up challenge: community support and staying motivated [45:34] - Services available at Susan's New York lab Resources - Strong Bones for Life: Free Talk and Q&A on May 18th at 2:00 pm - sign up here - https://www.happyboneshappylife.com/strong-bones-for-life-may2026 - The Push Up Challenge (Info)- https://drive.google.com/file/d/13W1AV0Uiqon8oTzGueC1qjdHynl-Gd0H/view?usp=sharing - The Push Up Challenge (Sign up here) - https://forms.gle/Qku2bsdeoPvs4xyTA - Strong Bones, Strong Mind: Functional Exercises for Osteoporosis & Brain Health - https://www.happyboneshappylife.com/strong-bones-sharp-mind-functional-exercises-for-osteoporosis - Back into Balance website - https://www.backintobalancenyc.com/ - Get discounted supplements at Margie's Fullscript dispensary - https://tinyurl.com/happybonessupplements More about Margie - Website - https://margiebissinger.com/ - Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p/Margie-Bissinger-MS-PT-CHC-100063542905332/ - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/margiebissinger/?hl=en DISCLAIMER – The information presented on this podcast should not be construed as medical advice. Re-accreditation Checklist: At the start of this episode, we laid out everything you need to have in place for a smooth, stress-free re-accreditation process. Here's the full checklist to guide you: Know your accreditation renewal period (e.g. 3 years for ICF, 5 years for EMCC) Track your re-accreditation deadline well in advance Complete the required number of CPD hours Ensure your CPD meets the criteria of your accrediting body Budget for re-accreditation costs and ongoing CPD investment Keep your coaching log accurate and up to date Record coaching hours clearly and ethically Maintain structured notes for potential case studies Understand requirements for supervision or mentor coaching Ensure supervision or mentor coaching aligns with accreditation standards Stay active in coaching practice to meet hour requirements Prepare for potential audits or verification checks Clarify requirements if progressing to the next accreditation level Plan ahead for recordings or evidence submissions if required Align your CPD with your professional development goals Regularly review your progress rather than leaving it to the deadline Have you ever felt that quiet pressure when an accreditation deadline starts creeping closer, knowing you might not have everything in place? In this episode, we unpack what re-accreditation really involves and why it often catches coaches off guard. We move beyond the surface-level requirements and into the reality of maintaining professional coaching standards over time. As we talk through this, we found ourselves reflecting on how easy it is to assume accreditation is a one-time milestone. In reality, it is an ongoing commitment to growth, ethics, and professional integrity. Re-accreditation is not simply about ticking boxes. It is about demonstrating that you are actively developing, learning, and showing up responsibly for your clients. We explore the practical side of re-accreditation, including CPD requirements, coaching logs, supervision, and the financial investment involved. One of the biggest insights that stood out for me is how important it is to understand what actually counts as valid CPD, especially when different bodies like the International Coach Federation, European Mentoring and Coaching Council, and Association for Coaching all have different expectations. There is also a deeper layer to this conversation. Re-accreditation invites reflection. It creates a moment to pause and ask: who have I become as a coach since I started? What have I learned? Where am I heading next? We also talk about the reality that many coaches leave things too late. Trying to pull together dozens of CPD hours or reconstruct coaching logs at the last minute creates unnecessary stress. A more strategic, forward-thinking approach transforms re-accreditation into something far more valuable. It becomes a structured pathway for continuous professional development. What we felt strongly during this conversation is that re-accreditation should not feel like a burden. When approached intentionally, it becomes a powerful tool for growth, clarity, and confidence in your coaching practice. Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction to re-accreditation 00:28 Why accreditation is not a one-time achievement 01:26 The reality of CPD requirements and time pressure 02:22 The responsibility of being an accredited coach 04:35 Understanding renewal periods across coaching bodies 06:21 CPD requirements and what counts 08:49 Budgeting and financial planning for re-accreditation 09:19 Coaching logs and why most coaches struggle with them 10:24 Reflection and growth through re-accreditation 11:22 Progressing to higher accreditation levels 13:00 Case studies and record keeping 16:18 Supervision and mentor coaching requirements 18:14 Ethical coaching beyond the accreditation process 19:31 Building a proactive re-accreditation plan Key Lessons Learned Re-accreditation is a continuous professional commitment, not a one-off milestone Planning ahead removes stress and improves the quality of your development Not all CPD is equal, understanding what counts is critical Coaching logs are essential and should be maintained consistently Supervision and mentor coaching are foundational to ethical practice Re-accreditation is an opportunity for reflection, not only compliance Aligning CPD with your long-term goals accelerates your growth as a coach Keywords: coaching re-accreditation, CPD for coaches, coach accreditation requirements, ICF re-accreditation, EMCC accreditation renewal, coaching supervision requirements, professional coaching development, coaching log requirements, mentor coaching, continuous professional development coaching, Links & Resources: IG Company website: https://www.igcompany.com Coaching course quiz: https://www.mycoachingcourse.com

When I sat down with Robert Hanna, I did not hear a story about failure. I heard a story about comfort. He was a director at a legal recruitment firm. Well paid. Progressing. Respected. By most standards, successful. But approaching his 30th birthday, he realised something uncomfortable. He was building someone else's legacy, not his own. That realisation led to a decision. Start his own legal recruitment agency. Then take a bigger risk. Launch The Legally Speaking Podcast, not as a hobby, but as a long-term personal branding strategy.Today, that podcast is a global legal careers platform. It attracts high-quality clients, builds community in the legal industry, and has secured sponsorship from a $5bn legal tech unicorn. In this episode, we break down how personal branding, niche community building, strategic partnerships and content repurposing can transform a professional services business. If you are a founder thinking about building authority, launching a podcast, or turning content into commercial leverage, this conversation is practical and direct.Key TakeawaysComfort can quietly limit ambition. Ownership changes everything.Personal branding is not vanity. It is commercial leverage.Niche communities outperform broad audiences in professional services.Evergreen content becomes an asset when treated strategically.Strategic partnerships accelerate growth faster than going alone.

A gathering of 20+ national experts in the field of physics took place in Waterford this morning at Walton Institute, SETU, for a workshop on the theme of CERN – the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. CERN is an intergovernmental organisation based near Geneva that uses the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to probe the fundamental structure of the particles that make up everything around us. Today's coming-together is a follow-on from last February's high-level visit to CERN in Geneva led by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless, who was joined by the same specialist delegation of Irish leaders in the field of physics. The Irish delegates' visit to meet senior CERN officials helped to build relationships that aided in achieving Ireland's long-term goal of joining CERN as an Associate Member State in October 2025. This achievement marked a major milestone for Irish science, strengthening research opportunities in fields such as medical applications, computing and particle physics. The status facilitates deeper participation in high-energy physics research for Irish scientists and also enables Irish companies to bid for contracts. Progressing plans for the national scientific community Today at Walton Institute, the delegation came back together to share updates, discuss objectives, ideas, and outline strategies for Ireland to assume a significant role in CERN engagement. Delegates were in Waterford to attend the Institute of Physics Spring Conference later on Friday and Saturday, where the focus of the annual conference would also be CERN-themed, and the opportunities for Ireland's scientific community. A representative of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Lola Hourihane, joined SETU President Prof. Veronica Campbell, along with Directors of Walton Institute Dr Kevin Doolin and Dr Deirdre Kilbane, representative of Research Ireland Dr Aisling McEvoy, as well as national experts Prof. Sinéad Ryan, Prof. of High Energy Physics at Trinity College Dublin and Prof. Ronan McNulty, Particle Physicist Professor at UCD. Upon welcoming delegates to today's CERN-engagement workshop at Walton Institute, SETU President Veronica Campbell said: "Ireland's Associate Membership of CERN is a game-changer for research and innovation in this country, and SETU is very proud to play an active role in shaping this new chapter. Under the leadership of Dr Deirdre Kilbane and her team at the Walton Institute, we are committed to fostering collaboration, driving cutting?edge research, and ensuring Ireland fully maximises the opportunities that membership brings. With the calibre of leadership and research talent gathered here today, I am confident that we are at the beginning of a very exciting journey of discovery, collaboration, and reputational growth." On hosting the workshop, Director of Research at Walton Institute Dr Deirdre Kilbane said: "It is a wonderful occasion that the Institute of Physics Spring Conference is being held here in Waterford, and very exciting that we are progressing opportunities for the Irish scientific community as an official Associate Member State of CERN." In attendance, Prof. Ronan McNulty, Particle Physicist Professor at UCD, said: "Having joined CERN, there are now fantastic opportunities available for Irish scientists, engineers and companies to collaborate with CERN on projects that are at the cutting-edge of science and technology." After the CERN-engagement workshop at Walton Institute, the delegation travelled to the nearby Tower Hotel in Waterford city, where SETU hosted the Institute of Physics Spring Conference as the 2026 university partner. In 1 Timothy 4:11-16, the Apostle Paul closes chapter 4 by explaining to Timothy that godly ministry is patterned by godly character -- via five areas in particular. Paul also instructs his protege to wholeheartedly progress as a believer & minister of the Gospel by reading, teaching, and exhorting Gods Word. If we are to progress in OUR Christian walk (and truly live out our faith), we must prove it by persistently watching ourselves and our doctrine closely. People in the corporate world are buzzing this week after LinkedIn released it's latest report introducing the latest buzzword "Talent Velocity." However, it's worth noting this is more than just buzz. The data reveals a much more sobering reality that shouldn't come as a surprise. 86% of companies are stuck in neutral or burned out the clutch while 14% of organizations are racing ahead. In summary, the vast majority are spinning their wheels "planning" transformation rather than executing it. While many are quick to claim it's a technology problem, it's clear we've got a crisis of organizational metabolism. This week, I'm deconstructing the massive 2026 LinkedIn Talent Report, based on data from 1 billion members and 14 million jobs, not as a news update, but as a reality check. I explain why this report may not come as a "discovery" of new trends for many, but a validation of the things we've known for years but continue to fail to act on. I'm also stripping away the HR buzzwords to show you why "velocity" isn't about moving faster; it's about getting surgical about the friction that is currently burning out your workforce. My goal is to move you out of "Planning" to "Progressing" by exposing the specific blind spots, from bad data to American complacency, that are keeping you in the 86%. The Validation Gap (No More Excuses): We've known for years that skills matter more than titles, yet most companies are still just "talking" about it. I break down why the "Leaders" aren't smarter than you—they just treat talent agility as a business imperative rather than an HR project, leading to massive gains in confidence around profitability. The "American" Blind Spot (Data Arrogance): We love to think we are leading the charge, but the data proves otherwise. I call out the uncomfortable truth that North America is lagging far behind APAC (22% vs. 41%) in skills-based planning, and why relying on static job descriptions means your AI strategy is effectively hallucinating. The "Human" Premium (S-Tier Change Management): You cannot add velocity to a system that is already at max capacity. I dive into my own contribution to the report regarding "S-Tier Change Management" and explain why the companies winning at AI are actually 5.5x more focused on "Building Trust" than their competitors. By the end, I hope you see this data not as a reason to feel behind, but as a blueprint for subtraction. You cannot simply "add" AI to a broken system; you have to do the surgical work of removing the friction first.⸻If this conversation helps you think more clearly about the future we're building, make sure to like, share, and subscribe. “So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God.” (Hebrews 6:1 NLT) As a father and a grandfather, I know from personal experience that babies are a lot of work. For instance, it takes a great deal of effort to teach a baby how to eat. You start with baby food, which presents its own unique set of challenges. And then comes solid food, which must be cut into baby-sized bites. Of course, a baby doesn’t always want to eat, so you must think of creative ways to get the baby to take the food. Children need to learn how to eat their food, cut up their food, and ultimately prepare their food. That’s all part of growing up. The author of Hebrews reframes this idea of growing up in spiritual terms. Many people have never grown up spiritually. They made an initial commitment to Christ but have never really understood what it means to be a totally committed follower of Jesus. In short, they have not responded to what the Bible calls discipleship. This isn’t just a matter of ignoring biblical exhortations such as “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18 NLT). It’s also a matter of missing vital opportunities and life experiences. Think of all the culinary delights you’ve enjoyed since you progressed from baby food to solids. Think of how your palate has changed and matured. Think of all the different tastes you’ve experienced. Think of the many ways you’ve been nourished. The same principle applies to Christian growth. Progressing from spiritual milk to spiritual meat, as described in Hebrews 5:11–14, requires effort and a willingness to stretch, to step outside your comfort zone. But the rewards are more than worth the effort. The Christian life is more than simply saying a prayer of commitment to Christ. It involves following Jesus not only as your Savior but also as your Lord. If your only source of spiritual intake is hearing other people preach sermons, then you will be in a relatively weakened state spiritually. There is a place for teaching and preaching, but you must learn how to cut your own food, so to speak. You must learn how to feed yourself spiritually. Hebrews 6:1 says, “So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God” (NLT). We need to mature as believers and refuse to be spiritual babies forever. We need to grow up to be men and women of God. Reflection question: In what areas do you need to grow spiritually? What happens if you don't verify your SCAC? Is this the beginning of the end for freight fraud in non-Class 8 carriers? Joe Ohr and Holly Taylor are back on the show to discuss the launch of SCAC Verify on February 26, 2026, NMFTA's new mandatory identity and address verification program designed to close a major security gap impacting sprinters, box trucks, hotshots, and other non-Class 8 carriers! We talk about how the fast 1–3 minute verification process works using government ID, biometric selfie matching, and DMV checks across 42 states, why failure to comply could mean losing your SCAC code renewal, and how verified carriers gain a significant competitive edge with shippers, brokers, and insurers. We also cover why this move is about fraud prevention, cargo theft reduction, and carrier trust, how it creates a clean accountability paper trail without storing personal data, and why this standard is likely a preview of future FMCSA and federal regulations. The bottom line of our conversation? This is a leveling of the playing field, a trust signal for legitimate carriers, and potentially a path to lower insurance premiums in a market that has been crushed by fraud!
