Equestrian sport is a weird and wonderful world, and the art of judging competitive hunters and jumpers is a unique skill that only comes with hard work determination, and a whole lot of what some would call "Je ne said quoi" Many try to master it though not everyone does, and for those that think it might be easy, you are sadly mistaken. It's anything but easy. I've been lucky enough to find space for myself in this niche market of equestrians and the best part of it is getting connected with some of the most amazing people and personalities that share the same space. I'm thrilled to introduce you to my friends Scott Fitton and Kim Dorfman, judges extraordinaire, that have paid their dues, worked beyond hard, and are considered among very few at the top of their judging game. Scott and Kim will be joining many of us at the 2022 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair to make their mark and help you perhaps make yours during the spectacular 100th-anniversary event. I hope you'll join me in welcoming them both to Toronto in a few short weeks and perhaps in listening to this episode, you'll gain some insight into their personalities, unique careers, and how they do what they do at the level they do it enjoy. Thank you so much for joining us today for another episode of What's Your Why. I'm not sure if you've had a chance to tap into our latest episode launch just last week, the brainchild of an exciting collaboration between What's Your Why? and Saratoga Horse Shows, which supports an event aptly named the Women in Business Spectacular. The Women in Business Spectacular is an equestrian competition, which happens from July 13th to 17th at White Hollow Farm in Saratoga, New York. Part of the event's intention is not only to operate with a predominantly female staff but also bring attention to women in business, inside and outside of the equestrian spectrum. What's Your, Why partnered with Women in Business to play our part and bring you stories from women who play, played and will continue to play a role in business associated with equestrian sport. If you have a chance, give it a listen. We'll be launching weekly on Wednesdays until July 13th for the arrival of the event. Now, back to what you tuned in for today. Megan Douglas, from Coaching with Meg joined us in March, where we chatted about the concept of top five. We had such an abundance of positive feedback after that episode that we asked Meg to join us again. During our conversation in March, we touched briefly on the idea of giving yourself permission so I asked her if we could dive a little deeper into that, thinking that the practice of it might help more than just myself.
The Saratoga WIB (Women In Business) Spectacular is the first ever horse show created by women, operated by women, benefitting women's health and showcasing women in business. Open to all competitors, both men and women, in the equestrian community, this one-of-a-kind extraordinary event is one you will not want to miss. Please enjoy the first in a series of 6 podcast episodes for the WIB. Heather Briggs starts off the series!
In this episode, we were fortunate to interview Jayne Pritchard, a news anchor at CTV News in Barrie and an author. Jayne talks about her journey through breast cancer and her recent book https://www.amazon.ca/Breast-Cancer-Diagnosis-Overcoming-Setbacks/dp/1778350488 (After the Diagnosis - One Woman's Story of Overcoming Setbacks) An excerpt from Jayne's book: My name is Jayne Pritchard. You might recognize me as one of the news anchors from CTV News in Barrie. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and have written about my experience and the importance of looking after yourself through this journey. The reason I wrote this book is because I want women to ensure they get regular mammograms, and whatever other diagnostic tests their doctor recommends. Early detection is key to a positive outcome. I almost put off my mammogram, that discovered an early form of an aggressive type of breast cancer. I would hate to think of what would have happened if I had left it another year. Women also need to know that it's not the end of the world when they get a breast cancer diagnosis. Fear, sadness, anxiety and even anger are all natural emotions. You need to give yourself permission to feel that way. On my journey I learned so much. This knowledge is to share with others, not to keep to myself. In this book, you will find out about the treatments I underwent instead of chemotherapy, and the immune boosting supplements, many of which can kill cancer cells. I feel traditional Western medicine and alternative therapies both have a place and can support each other. I share my “Top 10 Health and Wellness Tips” to support your health as you heal and to live a vibrant life going forward. You'll also discover that in this wonderful Universe there are spiritual guides who are always with you, and your loved ones who have passed on, never really left. May those stories inspire you. Your mind may also be opened to something brand new and life-changing because, after all, life does change after breast cancer. You can follow Jayne on Instagram @jayne.pritchard1
Hi, everyone. Thanks for joining me again for another episode of What's Your Why. Over the past few weeks, I had the wonderful opportunity of sitting down with a gentleman named Charlie Moorcroft, a name that may be familiar to some of you, but for others, maybe not - so please allow me. Charlie is a wonderful soul, who is most prominently known as an equestrian trainer to the stars, most notably their kids. He also has a "not so secret" life operating Charlie's Animals in conjunction with the Charlie Moorcroft Conservation Foundation, a foundation created to assist with funding for animal rescues, sanctuaries and all things in between. He graciously joined us to chat about all the amazing things his foundation is doing and more importantly, how we incorporate knowledge and education for both nature and animals, introduce, inspire, and instil it into the heart of the youngest, aspiring equestrian, not to mention all those non-equestrians too. Please listen on to learn more and I hope you enjoy meeting my new friend, Charlie Moorcroft. Instagram - @moorcroftconservation Facebook - @MoorcroftConservationFoundation
And we are back! In today's episode, Helen sits down with long-time friend Meaghan Douglas, M.Ed. More about Meaghan Douglas, M.Ed. Meaghan's experience living on both the east and west coasts throughout her life introduced her to the amazing country that is Canada. She brings 15 years of experience as an educator and 10 years as a counsellor in both the private and public sectors. Her previous role as vice president of a health and wellness organization has provided her with many opportunities for leadership development and training. Meaghan's decades-long interest in equestrian show jumping, having once been a competitor herself, was a natural lead into her work with equestrian athletes, with a focus on growth mindset training and development. Meaghan's philosophy is that clear and effective communication is the foundation for building dynamic team environments. She has a passion for facilitating opportunities for professional and personal development. When coaching clients or delivering innovative programming, the consistent pillars of growth-mindset, communication, accountability and wellness are present. https://www.linkedin.com/in/meg-douglas/ (Linked In) IG: @coaching_with_meg https://lm2collective.com/ (https://lm2collective.com/) www.coachingwithmeg.ca
Welcome to another episode of What's Your Why, where we sit down with the esteemed Lenore Phillips. Lenore is known for many things, but most widely, being the current president of a little company called Phelps Media Group. PMG is an International leader in sports media renowned for and specializing in sports branding, public relations, event coverage, media strategy web design and social media. I start out our conversation by drawing attention to the idea of a straight, or in this case, not so straight path to destiny. Lenore shares with us her experiences, ups and downs, and twists and turns of this thing that we all call life. Her story is provocative, enduring and full of gumption, and it's also one that helped turn my attention to consider a different perspective. I used to think that the road to achieving goals or destiny, whatever you believe, was a path from A to B. I have since discovered through conversations like this one, that you can choose to make your path from A to Z and there are so many wonderful stops and letters along the way. These stops may, or may not change or adjust your thoughts, dreams or trajectory, and that is perfectly ok. This conversation with Lenore makes me remember a Kelly Cutrone quote, who is the author of “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You”, where she says: “Dreams won't always take you on a straight path to destiny, but they're usually related to what your soul wants for you. They'll force you to ask yourself the hard questions, they'll kick your ass and more importantly, they'll turn you on.” Enjoy this conversation and I hope that you feel empowered tin understanding that it doesn't have to be “what it is”, and you always have the power to be the maker of your own destiny. Whether you decide to make your path straight or curvy, it will forever be your choice.
What's Your Why is a passion project for us and one that we are so excited to keep bringing you. Our stories are very different, but our What's Your Why story is similar to that of our next guest. It's similar, in that we will continue to serve our passion project with fingers crossed that our hard work and effort pay off and we continue to gain ground doing something we love. Fame and fortune wouldn't be bad additions to the story either, but one foot in front of the other right?!?! I was elated and honoured to sit down with director extraordinaire, Ron Davis who is accredited for bringing us so many amazing documentaries. He is the brainchild behind some that might be familiar to you such as “Harry & Snowman”, and “Life in the Doghouse”, and others that you may not be as familiar with like “Pageant” and “Miss You Can Do It”. In our conversation, Ron also talks about a few films with 2022 release dates that I have no doubt will be the epitome of success and great additions to his amazing roster. Ron Davis is a breath of fresh air. Amidst his charm and charisma, I had an exceptional, candid conversation with him and one that I am hoping you will enjoy as much as I did. In addition to this, I learned something new as well…Check your ego at the door and let the best idea in the room win. Enjoy.
Hi everyone, thank you for joining me for another episode of What's your Why. As you know, we launch a new episode every month. And we're continuing to connect with inspirational, motivational people to hear more about their life stories. We use those stories to tap into our own thoughts and feelings for personal and professional success and growth. Our goal is to share these with you, our listeners, in an effort and hope that you might do the same. In life, I have a motto (well a couple of them), but one in particular. It's not mine, but one I aim to live by. I'm sure you've all heard it before and are no stranger to the saying “live your life by design” or what I used to share with one of my stepsons, “be the maker of your own destiny”, but have you ever truly lent yourself to analyze that saying and/or have you met someone that's actually doing it? With a quick background story, Heather and I had the opportunity to discover a young lady that has been doing just that. Building her life and designing her destiny to align with her success story. In 2017, she founded the equestrian apparel company called TKEQ the shop, now a leader in the equestrian athletics industry at the ripe old age of 17. Kaelyn Kennedy launched her business as the owner and creative director and is the epidemy of class, charisma, charm, creativity and confidence with a touch of humility and grace on the side. I really enjoyed meeting Kaelyn and learning her story, and I'd be remiss if I didn't encourage you to do the same. So, for your listening, and learning pleasure, I introduce you to Kaelyn Kennedy, the equestrian athlete with big dreams, big ideas and a very big future!
Thank you for joining, and lending us your ears, hearts and minds for another episode of What's Your Why. Heather and I were recently given the opportunity to remotely catch up with the amazing ladies of C-6 Equestrian. A collaboration of inspirational women, designed to foster a community of like-minded individuals. Dr. Jenny Susser, an acclaimed Sport & Performance Psychologist, Mette Larsen, USDF Silver Medalist and accomplished FEI dressage competitor, and Sinead Halpin Maynard, a 5* eventing athlete and USEF Team rider, happily collided a few years ago and have since created this powerful and growing movement. Their mission is to create a new model for women and horses grounded in “How women do it”. Their Vision is to harness the power of women to create a new transformational space for them and their horses. In a collaborative effort, the team behind C-6 Equestrian challenges the current industry model, fostering an innovative community for females within the sport. They challenge old perspectives and invite women to explore a greater connection to their energy, skill sets, and confidence to enhance personal journeys with themselves and horses and they're accomplishing this through their engaging symposium series and growing online community. From discussing sports psychology and women in sports to building confidence, we bring you the C-6 team for your listening pleasure. Enjoy! https://c-6equestrian.com/ (C6 Equestrian)
We are beyond excited to share today's guest with you! In this episode, she speaks of her incredible journey of self-discovery towards her own unique abilities, abilities that can be considered controversial, but in my opinion are welcome tools to finding, achieving, and sustaining direction in life balance. Sheila Trecartin is internationally renowned and specializes in animal communication, mediumship and intuitive business consultation, and offers holistic services for pets and people. I've been fortunate enough to receive assistance from Sheila utilizing all of these specialities and let me tell you the word astonishing doesn't even begin to describe an experience with her. I feel like each consultation I have with Sheila has been an important awakening, and dare I suggest, soul searching guidance on a journey of self-awareness and life path. Not to mention the deeper connection and understanding I have of my own furry friend's needs, emotions and reactions, which I discovered through her astounding skills. Sheila describes Sagacity to be wisdom through discernment, and with this conversation, I can't think of a more sagacious person. Please enjoy listening as we share the beauty that is Sheila Trecartin. www.ultimatehealingconcepts.com Online Courses with Sheila Trecartin Instagram @sheilatrecartin Facebook
Welcome to another episode of What's Your Why, we appreciate your ears and your time, and we hope to continue bringing you the inspiration and motivation that you seek. We've said it before, and we have hit the jackpot again, with our lovely guest in today's episode. Piper Klemm is a successful amateur rider with an anything but amateur career. It started with falling in love with horses, followed by a top of the class PhD from Berkeley, which led to taking a break, trying something new and buying a print publication, which she has developed into the digital marketing company you know today, The Plaid Horse. Piper Klemm amazed me throughout our conversation and no doubt still has many tricks up her sleeve. She's a breath of fresh air who operates with total transparency, which many might say is the number one factor that's lacking in today's society, but we'll let you be the judge of that. I invite you to get comfy and listen in on this amazing introduction to Piper Klemm, where I can assure you you'll learn something new and maybe even something new about yourself. Thanks for listening and enjoy! http://theplaidhorse.com/ (theplaidhorse.com) http://facebook.com/theplaidhorsemag (facebook.com/theplaidhorsemag) @theplaidhorsemag on Instagram
When Heather and I first began developing this podcast, we wanted to create a theme that would serve more than one purpose. The first was of course to set the stage and create a baseline for our subject matter but the second was a little more selfish. We wanted to light a beacon, actually light a beacon to highlight people with stories that would resonate with us, and also our listeners. Stories that would provoke new skills, new thoughts and new ideas for everyone involved. So, in keeping with our theme, I have the greatest pleasure in introducing you to Victoria Theriault who will no doubt inspire you to learn more about a very special person, and that person is none other than you… Victoria is a certified DISC assessment analyst and for anybody listening and feeling a little confused about what that might be, just keep listening. We are thrilled to bring you this episode of What's Your Why? introducing Armand Leone. If you feel like somewhere in the nether regions of your brain, you recognize this name, you'll not be surprised when I say you are right. If you're involved in the equine industry at all, you most likely do. Armand Leone is the oldest of the brothers' Leone, which encompasses Peter and Mark, after him, who have each led successful careers inside and outside of the equestrian sport. Armand has more letters attached to his name than I can even count, holding a total of three post-graduate degrees from Columbia University Law School, New York Medical College, and Columbia Business School. In addition to those credentials, Armand wasted no time in continuing his equestrian career, both on and off of horses. He was selected to represent the United States as an alternate on the equestrian team for the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow. Armand was also a member of the FEI Tribunal, Vice-President of High-Performance on the USEF board of directors, director, president CEO, and then chairman of the USET Foundation and also part of the conduct committee for the United States Hunter Jumper Association, or USHJA. Armand is a wealth of information, and given his knowledge around horses, he's found a niche advising and educating equestrian athletes, trainers, and owners to simply make the world a better place. Insightful, educational, and a pleasure to speak with, I ask you to please enjoy the past, present, and future with Armand Leone.
When fierce professionals and industry leaders in their own right join together in business, it is bound to create a force to be reckoned with. And that's exactly what happened when Jennifer Ward and Jennifer Wood joined together and launched Jump Media LLC, one of the largest comprehensive public relations agencies in North America. Powerhouses in their own right and beyond comparison when teamed up together, these ladies are responsible for much of the Public relations, and industry content that we see today. Both Jennifers still maintain and grow their own business entities in Starting Gate communications from Jennifer Ward and Jennifer Wood Media from Jennifer Wood, which has them covering every inch of the equine industry and reaching the heart and mind of the furthest advocate. I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down with the Jens recently and remotely of course, and believe me - it was a tall order to keep it all straight but I do believe that if you listen on, you'll discover a pot of gold from the start, and all the way to the end of the rainbow.
Hi everyone! Thank you again for sharing your time with me and for tuning in to this very special surprise episode with ALI SWEENEY! Alison Sweeney started her impressive acting career with a Kodak commercial when she was just 4 years old. As her story goes, she quickly fell in love with acting and headed down the path of her extensive and diverse career. Ali started out on a little daytime soap called Days of our Lives when she was just 16 years old playing the infamous Sami Brady! The villain of all villains when it comes to the soapbox and one that many of us grew up with. She played the role for many years and I must say that the character did not rub off on her at all. Ali also hosted TV's The Biggest Loser while continuing to act, direct, produce and co-create many projects, not to mention all while co-raising a family and finding time for our favourite 4 legged friends too. Ali was so kind to give us her time between shooting for Days, because yes!…guess who returned to Salem and promoting her new project the Chronicle Mysteries- Helped to Death, which debuted on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries on February 21st. Ali chats with us candidly about her perspective on life, balance, growth, and grounding. So enough of me and let's get right to it, I bring you the lovely and gracious, Ali Sweeney.
In today's episode, we talk with Tonya Johnston, a Mental Skills Coach and author who works with riders all over the world specializing in equestrian athletes of all disciplines. If that weren't enough, she also finds time to share her insights through a monthly podcast called “Inside Your Ride” and through a regular column in Practical Horseman and Eventing USA. Tonya has been featured in many equestrian publications including The Chronicle of the Horse, The Equestrian News, The Plaid Horse, and Equine Journal to name just a few, and continues assisting people like us through her book club, Inside Your Ride - the book club and online group, The Mindset Boost. Inspiration is to spur on, motivate, or impel, to influence, incite, and infuse. These are all fitting characteristics of my friend R Scot Evans. Scot and I met many years ago while both active in the horse show scene. He was supporting a high-performance farm at a prestigious equestrian competition and I was managing the operations at one of the competition rings. Upon introduction, I immediately felt a kinship for him and we became fast friends. I was attracted to his vigor, charisma, his over-all love of life, and everything he was doing in it. Until now, I hadn't really thought about why that was, I just knew that I could hang on to his every word as it was always, so fitting, encouraging, and meaningful. He spoke right to my heart and my mind and he continually inspires me to think, be, and do better for myself with who and what I hold in my space. Inspiration is the keyword here and Scot Evans exudes it. It's in his core and he passes it on to those he meets. From learning simple life lessons to creating inspiration that provokes a change, Scott Evans will be my go-to every time. Take pleasure in meeting my inspiring friend and enjoy the episode! https://www.greenisthenewblue.org/ (Green Is The New Blue) @geen_is_the_new_blue
Hi everyone. Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope that you find this brief message worthy of your time and energy. I certainly have been looking forward to sharing it with you. Firstly on a side note, Heather, the show's producer, and I were recently chatting about what our listeners might like to hear and what direction they would like to see What's Your Why head in for 2021. We do have a few ideas up our sleeves, but I encourage you to reach out and let us know your thoughts as well. After all, this podcast is all about you and we certainly couldn't do it without you. We've had such amazing feedback and growth in such a short timeframe that we just can't stop saying thank you and applauding you for your support so far, it's been an amazing journey, learning experience, and connection for us both that we're looking forward to continuing it in the new year. So getting back on track and to the point, I wanted to record a brief message to share a thought and dare I say it ... feelings.. with you as this insert adjective here year comes to a close I'm speaking with the intention of planting a seed that might, if nurtured, grow into a thought. Listen on for more!
As defined by Merriam-Webster, authenticity is stated as "not false or imitation, and true to ones own personality, spirit or character." Here is my question, is it by nurture or nature that we find it in ourselves. At team What's Your Why, we feel that this one word with such a simple definition is one of the most impactful qualities to gain, but more importantly, possess. We decided that we wanted to bring you the story of someone that we feel encompasses and represents authenticity to the fullest extent. Noelle Floyd is the person that made our vision a reality. She wholeheartedly embodies authenticity. She can define and story- tell about it because it's quite simply, how she leads her life, and I would hazard a guess to say, came across it by nature. Authenticity is the one characteristic that will take you to greater places near and far but is also one of the hardest qualities to come by. Noelle allowed us to enjoy an empowering, emotional, connected, educational conversation with her and ultimately you too. Give thought for a moment to who you might know that possesses true authenticity and how you can learn from their life, lessons, teachings, and actions. If you are drawing blank because as I mentioned, it can be rare, this episode is a great place to start. I can almost guarantee that before the end you will feel a kinship with Noelle because she very simply is one of the most authentic people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Enjoy and I leave you with this - is it nurture or nature? Interested in the Equestrian Masterclass? https://masterclass.noellefloyd.com/ Follow on all the social media channels @noellefloyd
In this episode, Helen is joined by Abby Newell, Founder and CEO of Piaffe. Piaffe is a leading talent management and marketing agency, that creates opportunities for athletes, influencers, brands, and enterprise across equestrian sport. What I thought would be a quick visit ended up being a wonderful 3-hour call full of life stories, adventures and insights. In 2016, I had the pleasure of meeting Abby when assisting to organize a Dressage Masterclass with none other than Carl Hester, MBE UK olympian and dressage athlete extraordinaire. Some would be bold enough to say he's the King of Dressage and I can't disagree. EMG went onto host Charlotte Dujardin, CBE, who in her own right is the Queen of dressage and rockstar of the sport. She is a household name within the dressage community globally and is represented by none other than Abby Newell. Abby is a powerhouse, educated at the University of Manchester, and completed an internship in NY, NY before settling down in London England to strike up an astounding career in the film and music industry. While going through the motions of doing what young people do and creating her amazing path in life, an ah-ha moment hits, and Piaffe is born… Join me as Abby walks us through her stories, insights, goals and ambitions of her past present and future. Calling in from their home in California, I was able to chat with husband and wife team Traci Barmen Brooks and Carleton Brooks, (affectionately known as CB) of Balmoral Farm. I could continue to rhyme off a list of their accolades, credentials, shiny stars, and awards, but I would really like to simply lead with…they are my friends. I take such an extreme amount of pride in having the opportunity to say that without a second of hesitation. Without getting too “real”, a few years ago, you may or may not know that I found myself in a very new and slightly overwhelming situation. I was offered an opportunity to fulfill a contact in California on a yearly basis for about 10 weeks each winter. It was such a wonderful opportunity and I jumped at the chance, the only problem…I could count on one hand, with one digit how many people I knew and recognized there and when I arrived. So now, insert Traci and CB. They were without a doubt the most welcoming, calming, reassuring, friendly, motherly, fatherly, caring, the list goes on, people that made me feel immediately at home. If I had a problem, a question or just needed some advice, I didn't have to look further than their smiles to know I was ok. So without making a long story long, I now don't have enough digits or hands to count the endless friendships that I was able to form from fulfilling that role and I certainly have Traci and CB to thank for leading the way and welcoming me into their world. Please enjoy my conversation with them both and I can assure you, that whether a horse person or not, you'll most certainly find some relatable inspiration in this episode.
Thanks for joining us again for another amazing episode of What's your Why! Today, I'd like to start with a question, things that make you go hmmm kind of idea……When you hear people described as “Salt of the Earth” or “Earth Angels”, I'm sure that many of you have people that immediately come to mind. Who are they? People that you are close to that warrant the title and description. Well, I am over the top excited to introduce you (indirectly of course) to two more, in hopes that you will gain as much as I did from meeting them. Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta are quite simply just that – earth angels and I am so grateful that they were able to give me time in their increasingly busy schedules. Apart from being successful horsemen in the Hunter/Jumper equestrian community, Danny and Ron set up an animal rescue in 2005, which stemmed from an immediate need to assist people and animals after Hurricane Katrina so tragically decimated New Orleans. They have since been able to secure their rescue as a 501C3 and have subsequently starred alongside their furry friends in an original documentary appropriately named “Life in the Doghouse”. We were given the opportunity to sit down with these amazing “Earth Angels” and discuss Their life in the Doghouse along with their passion for their extremely successful passion project, aptly named Danny and Ron's Rescue. If I could ask for your time and attention of this episode, I can assure you that my guests will not disappoint and I hope you'll find it as easy as I did to welcome them into your hearts and discover what Earth Angels can really look like. Visit https://dannyronsrescue.org/ for more information or to support the rescue directly.
I first met my next guest about 10 years ago at a show in Thermal California. I was a newcomer, and he was a staple with a famous name that everyone knew. I soon realized, that although his name is recognizable amongst many groups, across many generations, he is stand alone and stand out in his own right with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Whenever I felt like a fish out of water, he was always there to offer me insight, solutions, and support. Never afraid to crack a joke to provoke a smile or open his arms to offer a hug, he is thoughtful, generous, and endearing. Archibald Cox III, better known to everyone as simply Archie, has often referred to himself as being very fortunate. He achieved much success as a young rider growing up in Long Island, NY surrounded by many famous equestrians that were better known as family friends. Upon receiving a degree in Political Science from Drew University, Archie continued his equestrian education, working and learning from some of the best in the biz. In late 2000 he opened his own business, Brookway Stables and let's just say the rest is history. Some would say that Archie's famous name may have led to his fortune, but I definitely beg to differ. Archibald Cox the third has found fame and fortune in spite of what his grandfather's name represents, and he deserves every accolade that he has worked so hard to achieve. For the next 30 mins or so, I invite you to sit back and relax with AC3 and I, where fortune and fame might be the name of the game, but self-identity, and kindness is where it's at. Let's get into it!
Hi everyone, thank you for choosing to join me for another episode of What's Your Why. We wanted to bring an alternative feel to the table with our next guest and given his credentials in life, he brings just that. With his tagline "Have Voice Will Travel", I marvel to think he even needs an introduction. Peter Doubleday has been a significant force in the broadcasting and equestrian industries for 40 plus years. I am ever grateful that our paths crossed, dare I say it, about 20 years ago and I'm thankful for the knowledge and insight that crossing has afforded me in my personal and professional development. I hazard a guess in saying that he has been the eyes and ears (as he puts it) at almost every major North American equestrian competition since he jumped in, in 1972. From the smallest family-run operation to the most impressive events like the Olympic Games, Peter has played an impressive role in shaping and developing the broadcasting aspect of equestrian sport. He creates a feeling like no other with his facts, figures, and delivery. He brings a certain “je ne sais quoi” to every event he is involved with, where all you need to do is listen to feel right at home. Peter's warm, inviting personality is a welcome relief at many of these events and if you know the Peter Doubleday that I know, he is always supportive and available to offer a helping hand if needed. I hope you enjoy this time spent with Peter Doubleday as much as I did and thanks again for listening.
From coast to coast my guest in this episode has done it all! Aside from being one of my closest friends, she's also the epitome of kindness, strength, love, and light. Horses are her passion; and education her goal with risk and reinvention being old hat tricks at this point. It came to my attention recently that there is a need for her story to come to the surface, and that there might be many people this conversation will resonate with. If you are one of those people, take comfort in knowing that you aren't the only one and that all your feels are warranted. So without further delay, I bring you my friend, and hopefully yours, Lindsay Ransom, where her reinvention is the name of the game and fingers crossed if it's your game too, you might find clarity in what that looks like on the other side of What's Your Why
