Are you holding a smartphone or sitting down at your laptop right now? If so, you’re just a few clicks away from free, hardcore pornography. There are no explicit content warnings, and no age verifications to make you think twice about clicking "play”—which means kids as young as 9 and 10 are being exposed to sex for the first time via sites like PornHub. But what happens when porn becomes a form of sex education? On this special preview episode of Next Question with Katie Couric, Katie talks to a young woman who believes porn led to her boyfriend’s scary behavior during sex, and gets real teens to open up about their experiences with porn. Later, she sits down with anti-porn activist Dr. Gail Dines and sex educator Al Vernacchio to tackle how parents can counteract the alarming messages their kids may be absorbing—not just about sex, but about consent, gender equality, and what a healthy relationship actually looks like.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

Many dating experts specializing in heterosexual relationships believe that women should make men wait before having sex for the first time. In this episode, Dr. Valeria and sex coach Sarah Martin take on this type of dating advice; discuss what possible consequences it may have for these couples' sex lives; and give their own view of how first time sex should be handled in new relationships.  EPISODE NOTES: Ted Talk by Al Vernacchio, "Sex Needs a New Metaphor" https://www.ted.com/talks/al_vernacchio_sex_needs_a_new_metaphor_here_s_one

and talk candidly about child sexual development from birth to adulthood and beyond. Alisha pulls from her many years as a sex educator, and as a mother of seven children, to answer common questions parents have about their child’s sexual development. Children go through many sexual developments such as: running around naked, masturbation, playing doctor, asking about sexual practices, just to name a few. Alisha and Braxton dive into some simple actions you can take as a parent to understand the development of your child and how to manage the feelings of uncertainty you may feel as a parent. Because of the impossibility to pinpoint exact ages when kids and adolescents experience (or don’t experience) certain developments. We talk in approximate ages you may see certain behaviors. Attention! Due to the nature of the topic, anatomically correct body terms are used in the show (ex. Penis, Vulva, Vagina etc.) as well as some examples of slang teens may ask their parents to define. The content of this show is meant to educate on a broad spectrum, and should not be used in lieu of a primary care physician.
