Saint X star Josh Bonzie revisited the podcast to discuss his hit from Hulu called Saint X. Bonzie had previously been on the podcast to discuss what fans could expect when Saint X was released on Hulu. Now that all of the episodes are out, Bonzie and I really got into some of the significant issues the show addresses regarding race, assumptions, stereotypes, discrimination, and how all of this can stem from one incident in your life. Bonzie plays Clive "Gogo" Richardson, who works at a fancy resort when a young attractive white woman goes missing and is ultimately found dead. For the rest of his life, Gogo has to face the repercussions of that one incident. If you haven't seen the show, I would recommend watching all of it before listening to this podcast because spoilers are ahead. But it was fascinating to hear from Bonzie again and really break down how fast your entire life can change with something entirely out of your hands and how this happens to various targeted communities all the time. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Ashley Pelletier Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: The series, which is told via multiple timelines, explores, and upends the girl gone-missing genre as it explores how a young woman's mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth. The 8-episode series is adapted from Alexis Schaitkin's novel. Leila Gerstein (Mrs. America, The Handmaid's Tale, Hart of Dixie) wrote and will executive produce with Dee Rees (MUDBOUND) directing and executive producing the first episode. Stephen Williams (Watchmen) will also executive produce with David Levine and Zack Hayden for Anonymous Content, Aubrey Graham aka Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, and Jason Shrier for DreamCrew Entertainment (Euphoria), Alexis Schaitkin, and Steve Pearlman (Once Upon a Time). Saint X is a production of ABC Signature. **Saint X's entire season is currently available to stream on Hulu. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @SilenceonSet and Instagram @SilenceonSetPod

We sat down with Leila Gerstein (executive producer), Josh Bonzie, Alycia Debnam-Carey, West Duchovny, Jayden Elijah, Michael Park, and Betsy Brandt to discuss their latest thriller to hit on Hulu called 'Saint X.' All of the actors spoke about the importance of this show and how some of your initial judgments going into the first episode might say more about you than it does the characters you are watching. While the show is full of constant twists and turns (going back and forth from the past to the present), it also regularly addresses serious issues, including stereotypes, racism, sexuality, media attention, tragedy, and more. While the show is heavy, there are lessons to learn from it. All of the actors spoke about how they worked on their characters, who made them better, how they got through some of the more challenging scenes, and what they did to lighten the mood while on set. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Shamindri De Sayrah Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: The series, which is told via multiple timelines, explores, and upends the girl gone-missing genre as it explores how a young woman's mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth. In this week's episode of the Black Girl Nerds podcast, we interview Guslagie Malanga who stars in the French film Saint Omer directed by Alice Diop. The film premiered at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals and was entered for Best International Film for the 2023 Oscars. In Saint Omer, Rama is a novelist who attends the trial of Laurence Coly (Guslagie Malanga), a young woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter. Testimonies from witnesses and Coly's own words soon shake Rama's convictions. Host: Jamie Music by: Sammus Edited by: Jamie Broadnax
Alice Diop, director of "Saint Omer," discusses why the film sits at an intersection between fiction and documentary, how sound and editing each influence the way the viewer understands what happens and connects the film's two protagonists, and the powerful, political impact of centering black women in the camera frame. A fine second set from Boston Garden on May 12, 1980 to send you off on your Memorial Day weekend adventures. This one starts with an excellent 'Feel Like a Stranger', followed by an intense 'Ship of Fools'. A rolling 'Estimated Prophet' and 'He's Gone' follows, but then the band dissolves into a unique and interesting 'Caution' jam for about 10 minutes, for me the highlight of the set. Drums follows, then a 'Saint of Circumstance' which flows into the 'Wharf Rat' in the ballad slot. 'Sugar Magnolia' closes the set which they then follow with a 'US Blues' encore. Liverpool are mourning the loss of a genuine Reds legend today after the passing of Ian St John at the age of 82. St John joined Liverpool from Motherwell in 1961 and went on to play 425 games for Bill Shankly's side, scoring 118 goals across a decade of service during one of the great Anfield eras. As well as winning two top-flight league titles, St John scored the decisive goal in Liverpool’s first-ever FA Cup victory in 1965. Matt Addison is joined by the Liverpool ECHO's head of sport, David Prentice, to pay tribute to the impact that St John made on Liverpool FC as heartfelt tributes pour in. They also take a look at his media career, with 'Saint and Greavsie', in which he co-starred alongside Jimmy Greaves, one of the pioneering football shows of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as St John's radio appearances, including on Liverpool station Radio City alongside Everton hero Ian Snodin.Watch and subscribe to our Blood Red videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BloodRedLiverpoolFCJoin our Blood Red podcast group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1656599847979758/

This week we go back 30 years to the band's second set at McNichols Arena in Denver Colorado on December 13, 1990. I'm always a fan of a Help>Slip>Frank opener and here it heralds a fine show. A latter day 'Saint of Circumstance' is followed by a nice 'Eyes of the World' which opens up nicely towards the end as it goes into Drums and Space. The highlight of the set is the fine 'Other One' that comes post-drums and leads into 'Morning Dew'. Phil steps in after that with a great 'Box of Rain' to close the set, and the boys return for a 'US Blues' encore. Grateful Dead McNichols Arena Denver, CO 12/13/90 - Thursday Two Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower ; Saint Of Circumstance ; Eyes Of The World > Drums > Space > The Other One > Morning Dew ; Box Of Rain Encore U.S. Blues You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod121120.mp3 Kind thanks for listening, and for your generous support.

The history of music (indeed, the history of humankind) is littered with tales of poor behaviour. It can range from stories of murder, molestation and drugs, to reports of every-day obnoxiousness. Welcome to episode 138 of Love That Album Podcast. As music fans, we make conscious decisions to either overlook or take to heart the behaviour of those we put on a pedestal for their art. We decide whether to separate the art from the artist or hold them accountable for behaviour and beliefs we cannot separate from their output. Throughout the career of George Ivan Morison, there have been reported incidents of rudeness and poor treatment of those around him. This is in complete contrast to his music which dwells in themes of love, nature and spirituality – both musically and lyrically. In September 2020, he has tested his fanbase and given fuel to his detractors for the announcement that he is releasing new songs in protest of Covid-19 lockdown. Is this consistent with previous Van-isms or is this one step beyond? I am joined by drummer, author, music producer and Van Morrison megafan Pat Thomas to discuss the 1972 release Saint Dominic’s Preview. It is an album that celebrates all that is beautiful in life by a man who sounds like he really believes it. However, it would be disingenuous if we didn’t take the time to discuss the walking contradiction that is Van Morrison (….and yes, we talk about the news of his Covid stance). We also discuss the place his music has in our hearts, his behaviour, his connection to Belfast, and where the album stands developmentally in connection to his catalogue. There are artists I refuse to give patronage to for repulsive views that others have no issues with. My continued enjoyment of Van’s music may be in contradiction to others’ beliefs – so be it. There is no one size fits all. My huge thanks to Pat for taking the time to join me for a great (virtual) fireside chat. Until he releases his book analysing the work of Van Morrison, you can read his thoughts at https://www.facebook.com/Listen-to-the-Lion-musings-on-Van-his-band-street-choir-102018017848023/ You can order his books “Listen, Whitey! The Sounds of Black Power 1965 – 1975” and “Did It! From Yippie To Yuppie” wherever great books are available from. Download this episode of LTA from Spotify, Stitcher or iTunes (search for “Love That Album podcast”). Love That Album is proudly part of the Pantheon Podcast network. Go to pantheonpodcasts.com to check out all their great shows. You can send me feedback at rrrkitchen@yahoo.com.au (written or mp3 voicemail) or join the Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/lovethatalbum. If you’d consider writing an iTunes review we’d be immensely grateful. However, it’d be even better if you told a friend about the podcast and Pantheon – at a (socially distanced) barbecue, over coffee (on Skype), on social media….whatever way you choose, consider me grateful.
Gabe Bartalos has had his hand in many classic cult films throughout the years. From Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 to the Leprechaun series, this man knows his stuff when it comes to special effects and makeup. Now he has used those talents to tackle a different task: directing.Gabe spoke with us this week about his unique and visually compelling film Saint Bernard, a tale of a man sleeping off the edge of sanity and into a world of oddities and horrors. Along the way, Bernard meets up with a number of interesting characters, with a couple of them being played by familiar faces like Warwick Davis and comedy legend Bob Zmuda. Saint Bernard will be available to purchase on May 14th.
Carl Froch had been knocked down just once in his career, until he stepped into the ring with George Groves in November, 2013. In the very first round, the undefeated challenger doubled that tally, with a huge right hand, and looked capable of dethroning the unified world champion. A monumental upset seemed on the cards, until the ninth round, when 'Saint' appeared to be struggling, and Froch strode forwards. Howard Foster stopped the fight, handing Froch a highly controversial victory, and setting up a sold-out rematch in front of 80,000 at Wembley. Groves joins Andy Scott to discuss the encounters, and select his 'one that got away'...
There’s a moment in Saint Frances when the mother of our main character, Bridget, reveals something startling about how she felt when her daughter was a baby. Bridget’s shocked, but her mother expresses these are real feelings and thoughts women have, and they need to be talked about more so women know they’re normal, and that they’re not alone.

On this week's Deadpod we feature a somewhat rare 'ish' show from November 24, 1972 Dallas Texas. Quite a well-played show, it has a few hiccups here and there, but overall a nice recording as well. Bobby tells us that Pigpen isn't here, at the end of Don't Ease, as he is home sick. I think Jerry throughout is quite on it. Some of my highlights are the Brown Eyed Women, a very nice Black Throated Wind, and a great Playin .... the Deal has an unusual Jerry vocal flub ;) Grateful Dead Dallas Memorial Auditorium Dallas, TX 11/24/72 - Friday One Don't Ease Me In [#3:13] ; Me And My Uncle [2:55] ; Brown Eyed Women [4:45] ; Black Throated Wind [6:27] ; Bertha [5:39] ; El Paso [4:12] ; Deal [4:14] ; Beat It On Down The Line [3:03] ; Tennessee Jed [#6:35] ; Jack Straw [4:30] ; Sugaree [7:04] ; Playing In The Band [20:38] You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod110119.mp3 I finally received some promotional copies of the recently released: 'Saint of Circumstance - 6/17/91' and wanted to give you a chance to win a copy.. We start out October with a show from across the pond in London, England on October 3rd, 1981. A well-played, rockin' first set gives a few hints as to the improvisation that will follow in set 2 next week. 'Alabama Getaway' is the opener, not uncommon for the time, and while the sound is a bit dicey at first things clear up nicely for the rest of the set. There's a really nice 'Peggy-O' here, and the 'Little Red Rooster' is a real rocker. 'Bird Song' has some very nice moments from Garcia, and the jam between 'China Cat' and 'I Know You Rider' is quite good as well. Brent is quite featured in the mix throughout, although Bobby's guitar is often a bit too low. Grateful Dead Rainbow Theater London, England Date 10/3/81 - Saturday One Alabama Getaway > The Promised Land ; Peggy-O ; Me And My Uncle > Big River ; Tennessee Jed > Little Red Rooster ; Bird Song > Looks Like Rain ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod100419.mp3 I do thank you for listening, and those of you who are able to support the Deadpod! p.s. This week's Deadpod features the strong second set from the band's performance at the Boston Garden on Sunday, September 26, 1993. A strong outing from start to finish, it starts with a rockin' 'Iko' which got the place bouncing. Then a well played 'Saint of Circumstance' leads into Jerry's 'Ship of Fools'. Truckin' follows and while Weir does mess up a verse, its a fairly minor slip up in a strong pre-drums set. Drums and Space are quite long, as was common during these later years, but also contain some very interesting segments. Phil and Jerry do a nice job backing up Weir on the 'Miracle' that follows. The highlight of this one of course, is the 'Standing on the Moon' that follows. Full of emotion and beauty, enough said. The 'Rain' encore was also exceptionally done and a fine choice. Grateful Dead Boston Garden Boston, MA 9/26/93 - Sunday Two Iko Iko ; Saint Of Circumstance Ship Of Fools ; Truckin; Drums ; Space ; I Need A Miracle Standing On The Moon Encore Rain You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod092019.mp3 Thank you for your kind support

This week's Deadpod features a fine second set from the band's show in Oakland California on December 4, 1990. They open with a nice 'Eyes of the World' - Bruce's piano here really shines. 'Saint of Circumstance' follows then a strong Jerry vocal performance on 'Ship of Fools'. 'Truckin' is where things really get going though with a great Jerry jam especially into the 'Smokestack Lightning' which has some nice interplay between Jerry, Vince and Bruce. The band doesn't slow down, post-drums, with a strong 'Other One' (sans the Phil bombs) and a good Wharf Rat. Lovelight closes the set, but Jerry returns for a sweet 'Baby Blue' encore. This week's Deadpod features the 2nd set from the band's March 30th, 1987 performance at the Spectrum in Philadelphia PA. In general, while Jerry's vocals may not be top-notch, his playing throughout is. We start out with a bouncy 'Iko,Iko', always flavored with Brent's tasty keyboards. A somewhat unique stand-alone 'Saint of Circumstance' follows and flows into one of the highlights here, a long and well-developed 'He's Gone'. Drums and Space flow into a nice uptempo 'Truckin', which disolves into a very tasty, if short, 'Other One'. The Wharf Rat follows, and while I would have preferred a longer denounment here, the 'Throwin' Stones', 'Not Fade Away' was an enjoyable if somewhat predictable closing of this set. Jerry returns with a sweet 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue' encore. Grateful Dead The Spectrum Philadelphia, PA 3/30/87 - Monday Two Iko Iko [6:37] ; Saint Of Circumstance [6:21] > He's Gone [14:56] > Drums [9:44] > Space [7:3#0] > Truckin' [7:05] > The Other One [6:11] > Wharf Rat [9:21] > Throwing Stones [8:18] > Not Fade Away [7:04] Encore It's All Over Now, Baby Blue [7:39] You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod040618.mp3 I hope Spring warms up for all of us soon... Happy Labor Day weekend! I'm hoping that this second set - from 8/28/18 in Long Beach California, will provide some sweet musical accompaniment to your your long weekend (assuming you will have one! if not my sympathies!). This is an excellent set, starting off with a rockin' 'Shakedown Street'. While the 'Lost Sailor' provides a bit of a counter-point, the 'Saint of Circumstance' should put you back in the groove. Garcia's 'Wheel' that follows is a real treat - especially the jam afterwards that goes into Brent's 'Good Time Blues'. Following Drums and Space is a wonderful 'Spanish Jam'. A great bit of music to drift away on! 'Truckin' follows, and I'm afraid Weir is once again a bit lyrically challenged.. 'Wharf Rat' follows in the ballad slot.. once again combining the pathos of August West with the hopes and fears of us all. A rousing 'Sugar Magnolia' closes the set, with the boys returning, and helping us bid adieu to summer, with 'US Blues'. Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA (8/28/81) set 2 Shakedown Street Lost Sailor Saint of Circumstance The Wheel Good Time Blues drums Spanish Jam Truckin' Wharf Rat Sugar Magnolia U.S. Blues You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod090216.mp3 I want to thank the fine folks whose contributions make the Deadpod possible! Have a safe and happy Labor Day!
This week we feature the second set from the band's 15th Anniversary show which took place on June 8th, 1980 at Folsom Field at the University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado. A very nice 'Feel Like A Stranger' opens things up, and I think it contains more than its usual share of Garcia explorations.. 'Ship of Fools' follows, it always struck me as almost anthem-like in how it skates over the edges of politics... much needed these days.. 'Estimated Prophet' marks the start of the meat of this set.. the jam gets out there quickly and before we know it Garcia leads us into the 'Eyes of the World' that follows. This version is a real scorcher.. blasting along before shifting into the rhythms that flow into Drums and Space.. 'Saint of Circumstance' leads into a quieter but beautiful 'Black Peter'.. Sugar Mag ends the set, but the boys return for a double encore, which reaches it's apex with a nice 'Brokedown Palace'. Folsom Field (U of Colorado), Boulder, CO (6/8/80) set 2 Feel Like a Stranger Ship of Fools Estimated Prophet Eyes of the World drums Saint of Circumstance Black Peter Sugar Magnolia Alabama Getaway Brokedown Palace You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod061716.mp3 Thanks for supporting the Deadpod! This week's Deadpod features the second set from the band's performance on November 2nd, 1979 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. The set starts off quite uptempo with a great 'I Need a Miracle' going into a rousing version of 'Bertha'. Bobby performs a fine rendition of 'Lost Sailor' which goes into again a nice uptempo 'Saint of Circumstance'. The highlight of the set follows, at least for myself, which is the fine Drums->Space and in particular the excellent jam which flows from that into a powerful 'Not Fade Away'. A delicate 'Stella Blue' is a perfect counterpoint here, and then the band goes into a set closing 'Sugar Magnolia'. They return for a fine 'Casey Jones' encore. Grateful Dead Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Uniondale, NY 11/2/79 - Friday Two I Need A Miracle [5:17] > Bertha [6:45] > Lost Sailor [6:29] > Saint Of Circumstance [5:18] > Jam [13:11] > Drums [8:#07] > Space [5:00] > Not Fade Away [10:00] > Stella Blue [9:30] > Sugar Magnolia [7:51] Encore Casey Jones [5:50] You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod110615.mp3 THANK YOU for listening and for your kind support!!!
