It's fair to say that with the story of Jason Vukovich — The Alaskan Avenger — we've been on quite the rollercoaster ride. From his origin story to his arrest and incarceration, it's undoubtedly a story that has sparked division. A story met with disapproval, admiration, and — in some respects — astonishment. However you look at it, there's no denying that Jason's story is unlike many, if any.We followed Jason as he fought for parole from a sentence of over 20 years for his attacks on three registered sex offenders. We were there when his sister received word of his failed attempt at parole, with authorities stating he'd have to wait five more years to go home. Then, only weeks later, came more news — he had won an appeal. And yet, his release continued to be delayed, pushed back time and time again… until he finally walked free. When I spoke to Jason upon his release, he told me he was focused on moving forward with his life and had begun building an online presence to connect with those who had followed his story. But it would be that very online presence that saw him put behind bars once again — following claims of a parole violation.Word quickly spread: some believed it meant he'd have to serve out the remainder of his sentence, while others suggested it was merely a 10-day “cool-down” period. After more than two weeks, Jason was again released — this time under stricter conditions — as he regained his focus and returned to the free world. And it's here that I find him now, as we sit down to discuss exactly what happened… and what's next for the man they call The Alaskan Avenger. You can find Jason on all social channels by searching The Alaskan Avenger. Jason Vukovich - THE ALASKAN AVENGER2 days agoAs a young boy, Jason Vukovich was sexually and physically abused by his stepfather. So, when he grew up, he decided to get revenge — by tracking down known sex offenders across Alaska and attacking them with a hammer. As Vukovich put it: "When I was a little kid in my house, if some tatted-up guy would have kicked the door in and beat up the guy that was molesting me, I would have said, 'Yeah! Woo!... Thank God.' Because nobody cared."Soon, Vukovich became famous as the "Alaskan Avenger" — but he also got himself locked up. After attacking three sex offenders in 2016, he was arrested on the spot near the house of the last man he targeted. Vukovich was later sentenced to 28 years in prison for his actions. And while some campaigned for his release — hailing him as a hero — he remains behind bars.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

True Crime gives us many examples of the anti-hero. The character that we find ourselves possibly rooting for, even though they do not possess or show the traits that are common in a hero. The anti-hero is not idealistic and certainly often works outside the boundaries of morality. Many of us think of people like Gary Plauché who killed his son's kidnapper and molester in 1984. This week we are going to cover another person who was in that same vein. This man, in 2016 would track down a number of sex offenders by getting their information from the nation's public registry on the matter. He would attack at least three men who had previously been convicted of sexual crimes and after being dubbed The Alaskan Avenger, he would eventually wind up behind bars. Hello, Dark Passengers, Welcome to PART TWO of our defendable criminals series! We've been taking a look at people who have committed crimes that are... totally understandable?? We are joined once again by the amazin TREVIN from SERIOUSLY SINISTER as we go a *tad* darker this week with Lauren at the helm. Lauren tells us the tale of the Alaskan Avenger! Jason Vulkovich was a very angry man and had every right to be but was he justified in multiple assaults? Do we think he's served enough time? Does his case set a dangerous precedent for future men and women hellbent on revenge? Dont worry, we lighten it up a bit after that as Trevin SLIDES into our DMs and Ashley sends a selfie to the police. Tell us what you think about our six evil-doers. Are they justified? Do you understand them? Or do you disagree with us completely? Sometimes right and wrong isn't so cut and dry...
We're going to be talking about Jason Vukovich, who goes by the nickname, “the Alaskan avenger”. This man would use the sex offender registry to hunt down sex offenders and enact revenge. Revenge for the victims, revenge for his own personal experience as a child. Or - was this simply an excuse for violence? We're going to talk about Jason's past, what he did, and what he is currently facing now. After we go through all of the facts, I'd love to know your opinion of the crimes he allegedly committed all in the name of vigilante justice. Sponsored by: Athletic Greens. This week, Reeni and Ashley discuss the Alaskan Avenger!
In 2016, one man heard about the neighbourhood kids getting assaulted by the predators in the area. He decided to go through the sex offender registry and take justice into his own hands. The justice for the Alaskan Avenger will be served, but many people today will disagree with his sentence compared to the one of the sex offenders he harmed. Who was Jason Vukovich and what were his motives? TO: The FreaksFROM: The Freak ShowJust in time for Valentine's Day, Lauren tells us a second chance love story that's not... quite as romantic as you might hope. Then Megan spoils the plot of the new, sad Marvel installment: The Alaskan Avenger. JK this is a real story that is honestly just very awful.Pairs well with waxy chocolates and heavy pours of red wine.

Jason Vukovich was sentenced to 23 years in prison, in February of 2018, for numerous assault and robbery charges. However, many people believe that Vukovich is actually a vigilante hero because all of his victims were pedophiles. At one time, Vukovich called himself an “avenging angel seeking justice" because of the people he targeted and his own troubled childhood.
