The date was May 19, 1971. A Japanese peach farmer was perusing his orchard, located in Yuba City, California. Suddenly, he spotted something unusual. A large seven-foot-long hole, that was approximately half a foot deep, which looked like an improvised dug-out gravesite. His was private property, no one was supposed to be digging on his land.Without any witnesses to report the purpose of this large hole, he decided to return the following day to see if it was still there. When he returned to the orchard the next afternoon, this large hole had been filled in. Someone had returned and it appeared as if something had been buried - so the peach farmer called the authorities to investigate. What the police would uncover would spark an investigation into the worst-known serial killer in the U.S. at the time - but few know his name today: Juan Corona. Tonight I'm talking about a 57-year-old Canadian man, named Kenneth Law. He stands accused and charged with 14 counts of second-degree murder for his plot to sell poison through the mail to individuals contemplating taking their own life. He may be linked to as many as over 100 deaths through his suicide-by-mail scheme. If he is found guilty, he will go down as one of the worst mass murderers in Canadian history, but nothing will take away the agonizing pain he has inflicted on the 100s of family members of his victims. On June 23rd, 2021, 24-year-old Daniel Robinson was enjoying his dream job working for an engineering company at a remote job site in an Arizona desert. It was raining that morning, so he and his co-worker would have to wait for the weather to clear up before they could start. For some unknown reason, Daniel decided not to wait. He got into his 2017 blue-grey Jeep Renegade and took off - never to be seen again.About a month later, his vehicle would be found wrecked in a ravine only a few miles away from his work site. Inside was his wallet, laptop, cell phone, and a whole case of bottled water - but no sign of Daniel. The police would conclude this to be a missing person's case - nothing criminal, but after hiring a vehicle collision expert who reported the jeep had been moved after the crash, Daniel's father believes a crime may have occurred. It has been over two years since Daniel drove out into the desert never to return and his family says there is cause to have his missing person's case turned into a criminal investigation. 49-year-old Erin Patterson is many things. She's a divorced mother of two, the heiress to a multimillion-dollar property portfolio, and a deadly chef. She now stands accused of feeding her ex-husband's parents and his aunt one of the most poisonous mushrooms in the world as part of a fatal Beef Wellington lunch. Her ex-in-laws, 70-year-old Don and Gail Patterson, and her ex's 66-year-old aunt Heather Wilkinson, 66, would die in the hospital shortly after consuming the mushrooms that Erin claims she had no idea were poisonous.Erin would say that she loved her lunch guests and would never intentionally hurt them, claiming that she picked the mushrooms up from a local Asian grocery store three months prior to the lunch and that they came with a handwritten label she didn't understand. It's also alleged that this is not the first time Erin tried poisoning someone, as her ex-husband had suffered from a similar mysterious sickness and nearly died just a few years ago. So did Erin Patterson intentionally poison her ex-husband's family - or was this all just some kind of big mix-up and total accident?Sources:https://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/news/former-colleague-of-erin-patterson-says-she-was-abrasive-and-eccentric-while-working-as-air-traffic-controller/news-story/c46976b1c97487d18bbe32f521f54f25https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/australia-mushroom-poisoning-erin-patterson-charged-with-three-counts-of-murder-five-of-attempted-murder/ML24IVPDGNEWHJEYZQ746VRJX4/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12700013/How-Erin-Patterson-privileged-life-fatal-mushroom-lunch.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/melbourne/article-12477099/Mushroom-chefs-Facebook-messages-Erin-Patterson.htmlSupport the showFollow me here:► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatron
Most people are familiar with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the little girl who went missing from her hotel room while enjoying a vacation with her family in Portugal - however, fewer know of Mary Boyle, a 6-year-old little girl who vanished while visiting her grandparents home in Ireland. She had been playing outside with her twin sister, brother and cousin when she began to follow her uncle over to the neighbour's house - however, when they reached a patch of field that was waterlogged, Mary turned back home.Within the next 10 minutes, Mary's mother realized that she wasn't with her uncle and was no longer outside the home. She was missing with no trail left behind indicating where she had gone or what happened to her. Over the last 46 years, there have been several theories, including that she may have been another victim of a convicted child killer or a local predator. There have also been allegations of interference in the investigation by politicians, which has halted any progress in the case. The mystery of what happened to little Mary Boyle has caused a huge rift in her family and remains unsolved to this day. Steven Clark was a 23-year-old young man from Colchester, Essex, in England. When he was just three years old, he had been hit by a truck, rendering him permanently disabled. On December 28, 1992, Steven spent the afternoon with his mother walking on the beach near their home in Saltburn, England. At around 3 pm, they used the public toilets, each entering a separate stall. Steven's mother finished up and waited around for her son, but when he didn't come out, she assumed he must have finished before her and headed home already. She arrived home expecting to find Steven already there, but he wasn't anywhere to be found. This would spark a decades-long investigation to determine what happened to Steven Clark that fateful day. Did he encounter a stranger? Was he met with foul play? At one point, the police even believed that his elderly parents could be responsible for his disappearance. Over 30 years later, Steven's disappearance remains a mystery. On June 20, 2006, nursing student, 21-year-old Frauke Liebs, was enjoying a night out pup hopping watching the football world cup, which just so happened to be taking place in Germany that year. At around 11 pm, she began to walk back to the apartment that she shared with a longtime friend, however, she would never make it back. When she didn't show up for work the next morning, her friends and family became worried and her mother reported her to the police as missing. However, Frauke hadn't completely disappeared. Over the next week, Frauke would make a series of mysterious and short phone calls to her roommate to say that she would eventually come back home soon. The last call would be received on June 27th, one week since she vanished - and no one would hear from Frauke again. Nearly four months later, her body was found by a hunter in a wooded area but it was so badly decomposed, that a cause of death could not be determined. She was wearing the clothing she had last been seen in that night when she disappeared - however, her belongings, including her phone and wallet - would never be found. It was the summer of 1992. Teenagers Suzie Streeter and Stacy McCall had just graduated from high school, spent the evening celebrating with friends and were gearing up for an incredible summer before their adult lives began. Stacy was going to be sleeping over at Suzie's mother's home that night - and then they had plans to go to a water amusement park in the morning. However, the following day, Stacy, Suzie, and her mother Sherrill Levitt, were nowhere to be found in the empty house. While there were signs that something unexpected and possibly sinister had taken place, there was no indication of what exactly had happened to the three women or where they might have gone. 31 years later we still don't have answers. How is it possible for three women to just vanish together, never to be seen again? This is a question we're going to explore tonight because we're talking about the unsolved disappearance of the Springfield Three.Sources:https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/30-years-later-family-still-seeking-answers-disappearance-three-springfield-n1296285https://www.news-leader.com/story/news/local/ozarks/2002/06/03/three-missing-women-ten-years-later-part-1-of-5/77200910/https://www.springfieldmo.gov/2498/Three-Missing-WomenSupport the showFollow me here:► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatron
When 25-year-old Alexandra Pesic married her husband, Joe, she believed she had found the man of her dreams - that the couple would live out the rest of their years in blissful matrimony. What she didn't realize at the time, was that she was getting much more than a life partner. She was also getting a meddling mother-in-law, named Jelka Pesic. While Alexandra believed that Jelka's controlling and nitpicking behaviour was irritating and fully embodied the traits of a monster-in-law, she had no idea that her life was in danger. Not until she randomly received a copy of a true crime book in the mail featuring the story of a young woman who was terrorized before being murdered. The book highlighted several chilling passages describing horrific acts of violence against the woman - acts that would inspire the mother-in-law from hell to go through with her evil plan. The date was October 31st, 2008 - Halloween night. A young Seattle woman, 24-year-old Arpana Jinaga had plans that evening to participate in a Halloween party at her apartment complex. Several of her neighbours and Arpana would decorate their apartments and open their doors to guests who would pop in and out over the course of the evening. She was spotted in the early morning hours, around 3 a.m., returning to her own unit to get some sleep after a night of socializing - and this would be the last time she would be seen alive. A few days later, a neighbour would discover Arpana's apartment in shambles, with the front door kicked in. Inside the unit, was the body of the young computer programmer, doused in motor oil and scrubbed clean with bleach - and now, every guest in attendance of the Halloween party was a suspect. Two individuals in particular would stand out to police, because of their past criminal history, relationship with the victim and DNA evidence found at the crime scene. However, despite a lengthy trial spanning almost a decade, the murder of Arpana Jinaga remains unsolved to this day. We're going to talk about the night of the murder, the vast amount of evidence found at the crime scene, and how we got to this point, where a killer has so far walked free. With two locations in Tennessee and Alabama and a low voluntary donation entrance fee, some have jumped at the opportunity to experience something so unique, while others have petitioned to have operations suspended due to the severity of the violence they inflict on their guests. Tonight I'm talking about the experience of hundreds of girls who innocently signed up to work in clock factories hoping to generate money to feed their families and help on the homefront during World War I. They used luminous paint made of radium on the clocks and dials, getting it onto their clothing, skin and even in their mouths. Yet, they had no idea that radium was toxic and the substance they worked with every day was literally eating them alive from the inside out - not until it was far too late, and many of these young ladies began to experience absolutely gruesome symptoms and side effects. Known as the "radium girls", these brave young women would go up against some of the biggest companies in North America at the time, fighting for justice and changes in labour laws. Sadly, many of them would never live to see the positive impact they made. The story of the radium girls is both tragic and an important lesson on corporate greed. There have been a few hundred cases of spontaneous human combustion reported, with some reported instances from as early as the 17th century. They were highly debated as to whether they were truly a case of spontaneous combustion or something else - and the vast majority went ignored, written off as nothing more than an urban legend. However, when 67-year-old Mary Hardy Reeser was discovered completely reduced to a pile of burnt debris and ashes, law enforcement stepped in to investigate what had happened. The FBI even became involved in the case, documenting evidence that just didn't seem to add up. Still to this day, it isn't clear what happened to Mary. This is the story of the Glatzel family, whose youngest son, 11-year-old David, was allegedly possessed by multiple demons. With the assistance of infamous paranormal investigators and demonologists, Lorrain and Ed Warren, he would endure several exorcisms to relieve him of the spirits and demons fighting over his soul. During one of these exorcisms, it is alleged that the demons left David, freeing him from their grip - however, finding a new host, in 18-year-old Arne Johnson. According to those closest to him, Arne's behaviour completely changed, as he would often experience fits of rage leading up to the days when he would go as far as to murder a man. Arne would plead not guilty, by reason of demonic possession - the first time this defence was ever used in the U.S. But would the courts believe his claims? Did demons really possess Arne Johnson or was he simply a violent killer? Picture this: you're in the car with your family coming home from a nice night out. You're driving down the highway, when suddenly you feel the vehicle drive over something and the tire goes flat. You have to pull over to the side of the highway to investigate the damage and change the tire. It's dark out, so you want to get this done as quickly as possible, but the moment you step outside of the car, there is a gun shoved in your face. They want everything you have and they're more than happy to kill you and your family in order to take it. This is something called spiking, and it has become a common occurrence in South Africa. One victim of spiking was a young husband and father named Juandré Kidson, who was violently killed in front of his wife and baby. Unfortunately, his murder was no isolated innocent and the killer has still never been caught. If you have useful information regarding the incident, please contact the investigating officer, Sgt Sebahane at 072 224 6805.Sources:https://www.2oceansvibe.com/2022/08/17/the-tragic-story-of-juandre-kidson-video/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj85pwCn-tc&t=2s https://trellidor.co.za/spiking-a-new-hijacking-trend-to-be-aware-of/https://www.iol.co.za/pretoria-news/news/motorists-urged-to-be-vigilant-after-reports-of-spiking-incidents-on-highways-3e227878-366a-4aad-a25d-3fef831b80b4https://swisherpost.co.za/news/unsolved-murders-sa-episode-13-juandre-kidson-audio/Support the showFollow me here:► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatron
It was supposed to be a rags-to-riches story. Christian Kazadi was a 29-year-old budding entrepreneur and the founder of a start-up digital marketing agency called Click Media. He started this company with the last $30 in his bank account and was really beginning to make waves in South Africa, where digital marketing was in its infancy. In April of 2022, Christian was honoured with an invitation to attend the inaugural Forbes Under 30 Africa summit in Botswana. On the final day of the summit, Christian posted a photo of himself enjoying the sunrise safari, with the caption “bucket list experience.” There was no indication that anything was wrong - or that Christian was in danger. However, just four days later, Christian was murdered while in police custody. This happened shortly after he was arrested for his really bizarre behaviour at a funeral. His family has demanded answers as to what happened to this intelligent, thriving young man while in the care of these police officers - so far they have been given none. This is the heartbreaking case of Andrea Venter, a young South African woman who suffered years of horrible domestic abuse at the hands of her boyfriend, Gerhard Jansen van Vuuren.Like many young romances, the beginning of the relationship was perfect - everything she dreamed of. However, as time passed, he became emotionally and physically abusive to Andrea, while isolating her from all of her friends and family.Eventually, she found the strength to serve Gerhard with a restraining order and decided to move far away, with a new job, where she could start fresh without her ex knowing where she lived. But, he didn't respect the restraining order. He would track her down and attack her in broad daylight, in a horrific murder that was captured on camera. What should have been an open and shut case would turn into an almost decade-long fight for justice, as the system continued to fail Andrea even after her death. And you'll never believe what her killer ex-boyfriend did after he was arrested.Sources:https://www.dstv.com/m-net/en-za/show/carte-blanche/season/36/videos/-from-the-archives-back-from-brazil/videohttps://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/gerhardus-jansen-van-vuuren-convicted-murder-andrea-venter-assault-thulani-ndlovu-brazil-fugitive-breaking-13-june-2022/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZpSMqDOUdohttps://youtu.be/21nmVSjq-HQ?si=Pq4cZnXWz39ywNpI Support the showFollow me here:► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatronThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5937109/advertisement
Anika Smit was 17 years old on March 10, 2010, when she stayed home from school with a nasty throat infection. Her father would return home from work later that day to find the front gate unlocked, guard dogs corralled in the side yard, and two cups of undrunk coffee on the kitchen table. The house looked chaotic as if there had been a struggle, and when he walked into his teenage daughter's bedroom, he would find out why. Anika had been stabbed to death and then had her hands cut off. It was the most horrific thing imaginable for a father to find.Several persons of interest have been identified and interviewed throughout the years - including an ex-boyfriend and school friend - but Anika's murder still remains unsolved to this day.Sources:https://ewn.co.za/topic/anika-smithttps://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/anika-smit-murder-inquest.226805/page-2 https://www.citizen.co.za/news/south-africa/murder-accused-in-anika-smit-case-says-he-was-forced-to-confess/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jXYvARzrgQ https://www.news24.com/you/news/murdered-pretoria-teens-mom-all-i-do-is-pray-and-hope-for-answers-20180823Support the showFollow me here:► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatronThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5937109/advertisement
Daisy De Melker, a young woman from Grahamstown, South Africa, came from dirt and decided she wanted more out of life. She was willing to do whatever it took to ensure she lived a pampered, cushy life far from the poverty-stricken home she grew up in - this meant crushing anything and anyone who stood in her way. Daisy was a mother and a wife - and she would become one of South Africa's most prolific female serial killers. Neil Tulley was a 54-year-old stepfather to two older children, 23-year-old Joshua Ellis and his little brother, 14-year-old Jerome Ellis, who he didn't get along with. Both had a dysfunctional childhood, which would only get worse when they moved into their mother's home, where she lived with Neil. Neil was known to be a violent drunk with a criminal history filled with abuse. One night, as he slept on the living room sofa, the two boys decided they had enough, and attacked him with two kitchen knives in a stabbing that was so brutal, that he was nearly decapitated. Though there was a pattern and history of violence towards the boys, Neil was asleep when the vicious murder happened. Was this truly a case of self-defence or something else altogether? Colleen Ritzer was a 24-year-old math teacher at Danvers High School, in Danvers MA. After spending the afternoon of October 22nd, 2013, helping several students requiring assistance with their algebra, she would be seen on school surveillance video being followed to the bathroom by 14-year-old, Philip Chism. He had his hood up in an attempt to hide his identity, gloves on his hands and a box cutter in his pocket. What he would do to Colleen in the girl's bathroom of that high school has been described as one of the most disturbing murders committed by a young teenager. Then, Philip simply disposed of her body in the schoolyard and went to see a movie. Even more shocking was the excuse given by Philip when asked by the police why he did something so heinous. He claimed he was struggling with his parent's divorce and had difficulty making friends at his new school. However, the police weren't buying his story. They alleged that even as a young teen, Philip Chism was evil enough to plan out the vicious rape and murder of a woman who had done nothing other than help and support him at school. When 21-year-old Lauren Agee told her mother she had plans with her best friend to go to a three-day event called Wakefest, she immediately had a bad feeling about it. Call it mother's intuition, but she was incredibly anxious about her beautiful and very trusting daughter going to this alcohol-fueled festival. And unfortunately, that gut feeling was right - because just a few days after Lauren left for Wakefest, she would get that dreaded phone call that her daughter was found dead. She had presumably drowned after being found face-down in the lake near her campsite. Her death was ruled an accident - but her mother has always believed that it was something more sinister at play. That someone - maybe even the best friend she went with - knew more than what they were saying. Lauren died in 2015, however, her friends and family continue to push to have her death re-examined, because they believe this to be a case of foul play. In 2007, 15-year-old Australian Carly Ryan was lovesick over her Texas-born musician boyfriend, Brandon. Carly was a scene kid who enjoyed MySpace, so it wasn't surprising for her to fall in love with this 18-year-old young man who listened to the same bands as she did. She had no idea that the hours upon hours of chatting online and on the phone weren't with Brandon, but with a 50-year-old balding predator who had his eyes set on her. This monster was bold, travelling to her hometown to attend her 15th birthday party, before luring her to her untimely death. This is the story of Carly Ryan, a beautiful young girl who trusted far too much and would become the first person in Australia to be killed by an online predator.Sources:https://www.pressreader.com/australia/the-australian-womens-weekly/20170907/281857233682330https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ7jQUEHRd0https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/the-ex-wife-of-carly-ryans-killer-garry-francis-newman-says-she-suffered-decades-of-abuse-at-his-hands/news-story/a44fffae2985ec53c6a21945358036b0https://www.namnab.com/post/the-tragic-murder-of-carly-ryanhttps://www.mamamia.com.au/carly-ryan-murder/*Ask me anything! Mindy Tran was a little girl from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, who went missing on August 17th, 1994, while riding her pink bicycle to her friend's house to play. Her body would be discovered six weeks later in a shallow grave only a few blocks away from her house, hidden amongst the brush. Witnesses reported seeing a man in the area carrying a large, heavy suitcase. The belief was this man had killed Mindy and transported her body to the woods in this suitcase. A suspect was identified as Shannon Murrin, a 44-year-old man who lived in the same duplex as Mindy's friend. The investigation into this suspect and what happened to Mindy Tran would lead to many shocking revelations - including a possible police cover-up and a love affair within the jury. To this day, the Mindy Tran murder remains unsolved. Dana Laskowski was a 36-year-old single mother of 9-year-old triplets. Despite having a massive amount of responsibility on her plate, she was the kind of person who always had her door open if you needed a bite to eat, a place to crash or just someone to talk to. This is why it was shocking to everyone who knew her, when she was discovered on her couch, twisted and contorted in a strange position, strangled to death. When you open your heart to everyone, you risk allowing some bad seeds in, which, unfortunately, is exactly what would happen to Dana. Investigators looked at several of these bad seeds, to see if they were responsible for Dana's horrific death - but it wasn't until they found a journal, with an entry that read “Kill someone +get away with it”, that the case would be cracked wide open. This is the murder of Dana Laskowski, a nanny who loved life but sadly let a wolf in sheep's clothing get a little too close to her.Sources:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKyGNCc_XaAhttps://www.oxygen.com/an-unexpected-killer/crime-news/emily-lauenborg-murders-dana-laskowski-in-bucket-list-killingSupport the showFollow me here: ► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatron
It has been 16 years since 14-year-old Andrew Gosden skipped school, withdrew all of his savings from his bank account and purchased a one-way train ticket to London - never to be heard from again. The quiet, introverted young man typically enjoyed staying at home playing on his Xbox, so this sudden trip to the city was completely out of character. Over the years there have been multiple reported sightings of Andrew, though none have been confirmed. And just last year, two unnamed men were arrested in connection with the disappearance though no charges have been laid. The disappearance of Andrew Gosden is still very much an active investigation. Andrew would have turned 30 years old just last week. It's time to find out what happened to Andrew Gosden and bring him home to his parents, who have been tortured with not knowing for over a decade. In December of 1998, 14-year-old Michael Politte was enjoying a sleepover at his home with one of his best friends. He was awoken in the middle of the night to a haze in his room and the smell of smoke. He woke his friend up so that they could go investigate what was happening. As they walked from his bedroom toward his mother's room, they saw a glow emanating from underneath her door. When they opened it, they were horrified to find 40-year-old Rita, Michael's mother, on fire from the waist up. This is the story of Michael Politte - a 14-year-old boy, whose mother was violently murdered and whose death would land him in prison for a large portion of his life. But did he do it? Teenage girls, 14-year-old Ivy Webster and 16-year-old Brittany Brewer had plans to go to a sleepover at the home of their best friend, 13-year-old Tiffany Guess. The two girls had gone to her home many times in the past and nothing seemed out of the ordinary on this occasion. However, when the girls did not return home the following morning and were unreachable by phone, a police search of the home they were staying at would reveal one of the most horrific crime scenes local officers had ever witnessed. Unbeknownst to just about everyone, there was a sexual predator, by the name of Jesse McFadden, who lived in the home and when he became pressured by the possibility of going back to jail, he snapped - killing everyone who was there. This mass murder, now known as the Henryetta killings, will make you rethink just how well you know the people in your life and how much you trust them with your children. Blair Adams was a 31-year-old man from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, who fully believed that someone was after him, following him, trying to kill him. His friends and family thought that the historically cheerful Blair must be suffering from some sort of mental illness, so they didn't take what he was saying seriously. Until, July 5, 1996, when Blair decided to quit his job, empty his bank account and flee across the American border. While there, several witnesses reported seeing him acting erratically. He appeared very paranoid, obviously still believing that his life was in danger. But again - no one took him seriously. Then, shockingly just a few days later, Blair's body would be discovered in a parking lot in Knoxville, Tennessee. He had been beaten to death and was naked from the waist down. There was cash totalling $4,000 in various currencies scattered all around his body. His gold jewelry also had not been stolen from his body. So what happened to Blair Adams? Was someone really following him, trying to kill him? Or was this some kind of coincidence - a random act of violence towards a man who just so happened to think someone was after him? Back in 1961, an 11-year-old little girl by the name of Tere Jo Duperrault would be found floating in the middle of the ocean near the Bahamas on a small life raft.According to the story, she had been on a vacation aboard a sailboat, called the Bluebelle, with her mom, dad, siblings - and another family, when everything went wrong. With the boat quickly filling up with water and beginning to sink, Tere Jo barely managed to jump into a life raft at the last minute. She had been left to survive in the elements, all alone on that raft, for 48 hours and it was an absolute miracle that she was alive. However, when she woke up, the details of the harrowing events that happened that fateful night, leaving her stranded in the ocean on the raft, would shock authorities. Her account involved violence, an inheritance plot and a sinister cover-up, now known as the Bluebelle Murders. Money makes people do crazy things. But how many people could possibly be so money-hungry that they would kill their own grandfather and mother over a span of several years, in order to keep their bank account stocked? That is exactly what it is alleged Nathan Carman did. Nathan came from a very wealthy family and inherited half a million dollars after his grandfather was murdered, and shot to death in his own mansion. There was a suspicion that Nathan would be involved, though no one has ever been charged with the killing. Within a few short years, Nathan spent every penny he had in his account. Which is why the following events were incredibly suspicious. Nathan would be involved in a boating accident - where his boat sunk with his mother presumably on it and he was lost at sea for eight days before being rescued. With his mother presumed deceased, he stood to inherit 7 million dollars - that is, if he could convince a jury that he didn't fake a boating accident and kill her for money. Nathan would maintain his innocence - denying killing his grandfather or his mother. But he would not have his day in court. Brandon Hole was a very troubled teenager from Indianapolis. His mother, Sheila, had spent basically her son's whole life trying to get him help, while also trying to keep herself safe from his violent abuse. I'm talking about a ton of therapy that seemed to go nowhere, police intervention and even an investigation by the FBI. There were so many warning signs over the years that he was just one bad day away from completely exploding, and possibly inflicting mass violence on others. But in April of 2021, he actually seemed to be getting better. He appeared more positive, upbeat and began making plans for the future to turn his life around. What no one knew, was that Brandon was at his absolute worse - and on a day when he enjoyed take out and a haircut with his mom, he carried out Indianapolis' worst mass shooting in history at a FedEx Ground facility. Sadly, mass shootings in America are not uncommon - but we're going to talk about the things that make Brandon Hole's story much different than any other mass shooter. It has been seven years since 16-year-old Mekayla Bali was last seen withdrawing all of the funds in her bank account and attempting to pawn off a ring, before completely disappearing from the Yorkton, Saskatchewan area. Mekayla was caught on CCTV footage doing several really bizarre things on the day she disappeared. April 12, 2016. She skipped school and told friends she was leaving for a vacation to Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan. Though it has never been proven, it is believed that she was trying to meet up with someone she was chatting with on social media. Whether or not she actually was able to meet that person - or if she came head to head with someone else first - we don't know. What we do know is that something has happened to Mekayla that has prevented her from coming home or contacting her family. This is the unsolved disappearance of Mekayla Bali. There is currently a $100,000 reward for information leading to Mekayla. Anyone with information about Mekayla's disappearance is urged to contact the RCMP, Crime Stoppers, or https://www.bringmekaylabalihome.com/Sources:https://www.bringmekaylabalihome.com/https://www.cjme.com/2016/07/06/a-familys-agonizing-search-for-missing-yorkton-girl-mekayla-bali/ https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/longform/i-need-help-mekayla-bali-missing/Support the showFollow me here: ► YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@SerialNapper/► Twitter - https://twitter.com/serial_napper► Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/serialnappernik/► Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SerialNapper/► TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@serialnappernik Join the Serial Society true crime Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/serialnapperpatron
Kathleen Kolbigg is either a grieving mother who tragically and unusually lost four of her babies - or she's Australia's worst female serial killer. It really depends on who you ask. Kathleen - who goes by Kathy - would lose four of her young children tragically between the years 1989 and 1999. Babies Caleb, Patrick, Sarah and Laura were between the ages of only 19 days old and 19 months old when they died. Initially, it was believed that sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) was the cause of death in at least two of the children, however, after 19-month-old Laura suddenly passed away after a nap, investigators began to take a closer look. There was a diary found, where Kathleen wrote long entries about her experience being a mother. Some took these to be nothing more than an expression of grief and guilt for not being able to save her babies. Others, including the police, would see this as a confession and admission of guilt for killing her children. Kathy Folbigg has always maintained her innocence.Ultimately, Kathy would be convicted of the deaths of her four children and ordered to spend 40 years in prison. In a recent surprising turn of events, just this past week Kathy was pardoned and released from prison after spending 20 years behind bars. Some people are celebrating her release as a long overdue success while others believe she killed her children and should still be in prison. So is Kathy Folbigg a mother who has experienced the worst kind of pain imaginable, the loss of four of her children - or she is Australia's worst female serial killer? Kaitlin Armstrong is an example of a woman who committed an unlikely murder. She would murder professional cyclist, Anna Moriah Wilson, who went by Moriah or “Mo”, after discovering her boyfriend, pro cyclist Colin Strickland, was continuing to see her behind her back. Her jealousy had been building over the last several months, with Kaitlin attempting to block any communication between her boyfriend and Mor. On this evening, May 11, 2022, she would follow the pair around as they enjoyed a night out together, following Mo right back to the place she was staying to compete in a race. She would murder Mo in cold blood, before fleeing the country for 43 days and attempting to change her entire identity through plastic surgery. Kimberly was a beautiful 18-year-old young woman from Langford, British Columbia, who was taken from this world in one of the cruellest ways by two very troubled teenage boys from school. The things that they did to her - are incomprehensible, and it's difficult to imagine a human being capable of such a thing, let alone two boys who were so young. Kim believed them to be her friends, but after agreeing to meet up, they would sexually assault her, kill her and set her body on fire in a wooded area. When Kim's burned body would be discovered by a passerby, the two teens began to panic. But not enough to keep quiet, as one of them confessed to the entire thing to his online girlfriend in the game, World of Warcraft. There were a lot of red flags before Kim was killed that these two boys were capable of becoming absolute monsters - but they mostly went ignored. This is another cautionary story to parents to monitor what their kids are doing online - because this sadistic plan to kill this young girl just to see how it felt, was all detailed in online chats ahead of time and could have been prevented. The story of Joshua Maddux's death is nothing short of bizarre. He is often referred to as “the boy in the chimney” due to the circumstances of his passing. 18-year-old Josh would go missing from his home in 2008 after saying he was going for a walk. Seven years would pass and there would be no sightings of Joshua and no real indication of what may have happened to him. Then, a horrific discovery would be made when the owner of a nearby cabin smelled something foul coming from his chimney. Joshua's body would be discovered wearing only a shirt, with the rest of his clothing found neatly folded in another area of the cabin. Investigators had no idea how he had gotten into the chimney - if he had climbed in by his own free will, was forced in or thrown in later. His death was ruled an accident. But there are several factors, including a strange Reddit post, that would lead many to believe Joshua's death was a murder. To this day, there is no clear indication of how Joshua died in the chimney of that cabin. On December 23, 2006, 18-year-old Ryan Waller was at home with his girlfriend Heather enjoying the Christmas holidays when there was a violent break-in. Two men entered their home and shot both Ryan and Heather. Sadly, Heather would die from her injuries however Ryan would be found miraculously still alive - though clearly very badly bruised. Instead of being taken to the hospital to be treated for what would turn out to be very serious injuries, the police brought him to the police station to interrogate him for Heather's murder. Ryan didn't remember much about what had happened during the break-in, which lead investigators to believe that this story about the intruders was a lie - and that he had actually murdered his girlfriend. What the police didn't know, was that Ryan had been shot in the head and was internally bleeding to death. He tried to answer their questioning, while clearly in pain. However, they continued to press him for information - before finally deciding to send him to the hospital to be treated.Ryan would spend 35 days in the hospital before being released with severe trauma and lifelong injuries that would ultimately claim his life. Ryan Waller's story is a tragic tale of what happens when the police get it very wrong. The story of the disappearance of 21-year-old Lisa Marie Young, from Nanaimo, British Columbia, is particularly terrifying because it's one that I think a lot of us young women can imagine happening to us or someone we know. Lisa was a bright, beautiful, independent Indigenous woman, with a family who loves and misses her every single day since she went missing in 2002. That warm summer night, Lisa had gone out to a club to celebrate a friend's birthday. She was with a group that she trusted and had an amazing time that evening until after they left the club and decided to go to a house party. A stranger in a red Jaguar approached the group and offered to drive them, which they agreed to. They arrived at the first party safely and the night continued until the early morning hours, until the man offered to take Lisa to get some food. But once he had Lisa alone, he didn't take her for food. He basically held her hostage, driving her around to wherever he wanted to go and refusing to take her home no matter how many times she asked. Lisa would not make it home - and has not been heard from since. Obviously, this stranger with the red Jaguar has been named by the police as a person of interest, but no charges have been laid. Most shockingly, Lisa has not been found and no one knows what happened to her.***There is a $50,000 reward offered for information leading to her remains. *** Sources:https://www.facebook.com/groups/35766644425https://nanaimonewsnow.com/2017/07/01/15-years-later-nanaimos-lisa-marie-young-still-missing/https://www.cheknews.ca/new-podcast-sheds-light-on-disappearance-of-lisa-young-from-nanaimo-671091/https://thetruecrimefiles.com/lisa-marie-young-disappearance/https://www.nwac.ca/ Use my special link https://zen.ai/serialnapper10 to save 10% at wongopuzzles.com. This is the story of the senseless murder of Darren Kelly, a 42-year-old father from South Essex, England. He would be accosted by a group of vigilante teenagers who believed he was there to meet up with an underaged girl. In fact, Darren had been chatting online with a 15-year-girl, who set up this sting operation after becoming obsessed with the idea of catching a predator. She recruited a group of boys to hide in the bushes before the meeting, waiting to attack Darren when he showed up. The situation went from 0 to 10 very quickly, with one of the young men chasing Darren down with a hunting knife, before murdering him. In the end, a man's life was taken from him - with no evidence to suggest he was even attempting to meet up with a teenager and very little recourse for those involved. The senseless murder of Darren Kelly is a perfect example of vigilante justice gone wrong and why it's hardly ever a good idea to take the law into your own hands. Tonight's case begs the question - what happens when a true crime enthusiast becomes obsessed with the crimes and lives of some of the most disturbing, violent monsters in existence? Should we pay closer attention to what they're doing - or is it totally innocent? What if their obsession led them to stray too far, becoming the very killer they admired from afar? This is the story of Shay Groves, a 23-year-old true crime-obsessed woman from the U.K., who would viciously murder her boyfriend while he slept. But was it a true crime obsession that drove her to kill or was she simply born to become a murderer? Edward Gingerich was an Amish man from Rockdale Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who was convicted of manslaughter in the 1993 death of his wife, Katie. There were very early warning signs that Edward was suffering from some kind of psychosis and could snap, however, his religion and life in the Amish community prevented him from getting any kind of real help. Instead he was treated to different herbs and old wives tales that did nothing to prevent Edward from snapping, and killing his wife in one of the most horrific ways - all in front his of children. Ed was the first Amish person to be convicted of homicide, and his story highlights the need for better mental health awareness and treatment amongst the Amish.Get your glasses from Zeelool using promo code "serialnapper" to save 10% off your order over $50! Rasheem Carter was a young black man from Mississippi who went missing last year after reporting to the local police not once, but twice, that he was being targeted by white men in a pickup truck. His dismembered body would be found scattered across a wooded area on private property. Most shockingly, his skull had been severed cleanly in half. Right off the back, the assumption is that something evil and violent was done to Rasheem - but the police have continued to claim that no foul play is suspected. Rasheem's family believes otherwise - that Rasheem was brutally murdered, likely by the people Rasheem claimed were after him shortly before his death. They are fighting to find out who killed this bright and promising young man. Tonight we're talking about Christa Pike, the youngest female to ever be sentenced to death in the U.S. A. when she was just 18 years old. The things that this young lady did are absolutely shocking and particularly heinous, which is why this was a death penalty case. Christa, who is now 46 years old, still sits on death row awaiting her execution date. However, along with her lawyer, she has continued to fight to have her death sentence commuted to life in prison. So far, she has been unsuccessful, however, that could change. The difference between receiving a death sentence or not - comes down to just one year in age. If Christa were 17 years old when she committed murder, the death penalty would have been off the table completely. So does Christa deserve a second chance at life? Or was the crime she committed so heinous that she cannot be helped?Sources:https://www.knoxnews.com/picture-gallery/news/local/2021/06/12/christa-gail-pike-through-years/7635082002/ https://allthatsinteresting.com/corpsewood-manor-murdershttps://deadlywomen.fandom.com/wiki/Christa_Pikehttps://www.wbir.com/article/news/crime/victims-mom-christa-pike-execution/51-3665cad8-4d07-4f4a-bad5-d7de4fe05e9aSponsored by: Mommy MakeupYou can save 20% off your first makeup order by using the promo code “SERIALNAPPER” at checkout or by going to: http://mommymakeup.com/serialnapperBlendJet2 Use my special link to save 12% at blendjet.com. Amy Allwine was a loving mother, devoted wife and woman of faith. When she wasn't spending time with her family or helping out at Church, she was running her dog training business. The idea that someone would want to kill Amy is almost unthinkable, but she would be put on high alert when the FBI would contact her to tell her that her name was mentioned as part of a hit. Someone - though they weren't sure who - had tried to hire a professional hitman to take her life on the dark web. Just five months after receiving that call from the FBI, Amy would be found dead in her home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Did Amy really take her own life or had someone from the dark web finally found her? A mother's love is like no other. I cover a lot of different cases involving children, and while I have no idea what those mothers have gone through, I can imagine the absolute rage that they would have against the perpetrator. This is the story of Marianne Bachmeier, a mother who could no longer hold all of that anger. Her 7-year-old daughter Anna would be murdered by an absolute monster named Klaus Grabowski. When faced with the killer at trial, Marianne would open fire on him, striking him and killing him with six bullets. Now Marianne would be the one on trial, for murdering her child's murderer. But how would she fare in the court of public opinion? Was Marianna justified in taking an eye for an eye? Nicholas Rossi aka Nicholas Alahverdian aka Arthur Knight and at least 13 different aliases, is an American man with a turbulent past. It seemed like he had two sides to him: one being an advocate for children who were victims of abuse and violence. The other is a liar, scammer and rapist. When his lies began to unfold, Nicholas decided to fake his own death. But when he would land in the hospital battling a severe case of Covid, everything would come to light - and Nicholas would be discovered leading a very different life with a wife, two children and a whole new Scottish identity. Was this the case of a man on the run or a case of mistaken identity?Sources:https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/nicholas-rossi/https://everloved.com/life-of/nicholas-alahverdian/obituary/?flow=201https://www.providencejournal.com/story/news/local/2022/01/12/ri-nick-alahverdian-suspected-faking-death-found-scotland/9188170002/https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/9542954/fugitive-nicholas-rossi-hit-controlled-ex-wife/ Sponsored by: Mommy MakeupYou can save 20% off your first makeup order by using the promo code “SERIALNAPPER” at checkout or by going to: http://mommymakeup.com/serialnapperSpine chillers and serial killers is a comedy podcast where three friends (Bex, Tash and Emma) talk about true crime and the paranormal but also laugh a lot, randomly sing and struggle to pronounce words (words are hard).
