The image also appears to show a sandy, otherworldly backdrop, leaving plenty to speculate about heading into the film's 2027 release. A24's Backrooms had one of the biggest opening weekends of the year, pulling in 81 million dollars domestically and 118 million worldwide in its debut, the largest opening in A24 history and more than triple what Civil War earned in 2024. The film was adapted from the viral YouTube web series by its creator Kane Parsons, who at 20 years old is now the youngest filmmaker ever to open a number one film, and was produced for roughly 10 million dollars. Meanwhile The Mandalorian and Grogu fell to third place after its second week in theaters with a 69% drop.Prime Video has renewed The Rings of Power for a fourth season ahead of its Season 3 debut later this year, with early preproduction beginning this fall and filming targeted for early 2027.A24 has released the first trailer for Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen of Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator fame, from acclaimed documentarian Lance Oppenheim, with the film set to premiere this fall.ElevenLabs has struck a deal with the estate of Stan Lee, licensing the Marvel legend's voice and likeness for AI-generated content available both to app users and commercial partners.The Minecraft Movie sequel now has a title: A Minecraft Movie Squared, due in theaters next July.HBO has dropped the full trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, offering the first look at the season's major battle sequences, with the show returning June 21st.Anna Kendrick has been tapped to direct Netflix's adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.During Playstation's annual State of Play showcase, God of War: Laufey was announced to be the next entry in the franchise and an extended gameplay trailer for Insomaniac's Wolverine was released online.

Sony didn't wait long to release the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer we've all been craving and oh, how it delivered! Unsurprisingly, the trailer now holds the record for the most-watched ever, garnering 718.6 million views in a 24-hour period. The new film shows Peter Parker banding together with familiar characters such as Bruce Banner and Frank Castle while he anonymously serves New York City as Spider-Man. Let's not delay - who wants to take a bite out of this big apple first?It's a three-for-one MCU week, with the announcement that a second season of Wonder Man is beginning production, and a title plus release date for the Punisher special presentation. All of the creatives behind Wonder Man are returning for the second season, including Destin Daniel Cretton as director and executive producer. Marvel announced the news with a social media post of the front of the script for the next season. Today, the film studio let us know that the Punisher tv special will be called “One Last Kill,” and is set to drop on May 12 the week after the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season two. Let's rundown the biggest headlines from Marvel Television:Wonder Man released its official teaser trailer alongside the announcement that the 8-episode series had been delayed from December 2025 to January 27, 2026Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, presented by Daredevil actor Charlie Cox who was reunited with Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter. The series was confirmed for a March 2026 release on Disney Plus and we also learned Wilson Bethel's Bullseye will return and Matthew Lillard will be an antagonist to Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Separate from NYCC, but still worth mentioning on the subject of Daredevil: Born Again, speaking with Entertainment Tonight Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum shared the season's connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying "We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important."VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 were confirmed for Fall 2026 release windows, while X-Men '97 Season 2 was announced for Summer 2026. All three shows debuted exclusive trailers not yet released to the public and both animated series confirmed their third seasons to be in development.On the DCU TV side of things, Peacemaker Season 2 aired its final episode last week, and while we'll avoid getting specific with spoilers given the recency, when asked about a third season James Gunn did provide comments on the series' future and its impact on the DCU at large, saying, “This is about the other stories in which this [cliffhanger] will play out,” he said. “Never say never.
