Hello! I'm Judith Ley, and once again I'm joined by members of the Island's Christian community to offer you a mix of music, Bible reading, reflection, prayer and stories with one aim - to lift us up whilst we're locked down! For the next 40 days we stay in the season of Easter, and our Bible readings tell what happened after Jesus rose from the dead. He met his disciples a number of times - always when they were least expecting it! Jesus talked with them, helping them to understand what had happened to him, and teaching them what to tell other people about him. Today, LOUISE BECKETT reads the story of Doubting Thomas, as told in St John's Gospel, and Rev'd JO DUDLEY (Vicar of Christ Church in Laxey) shares some thoughts on what that story might mean for us today. GILL POOLE is a Reader in the Anglican Church, and enjoys leading Quiet Days, helping people to discover God in the busyness of life - which is often easier said than done! A poem - THE WORD'S OUT by GODFREY RUST sums this up - and Gill makes it into a reflection, mixing the words with 'Halleluia' by flautist SIMEON WOOD. Rev'd RICHARD HALL , leader of the Methodist Church on the Island, began a 3-month sabbatical in January - a complete break from his usual ministry work, to enable Richard - and his wife Ruth - to discern God's plan for their future, when Richard retires next year. No one could have imagined how the world would change in that short space of time - Richard joins us on the programme, to reflect on the link between these events. And finally - Andy Perry launches the first of our new mini-series - A Talk Before Ten - lasting just half a minute! And the music is uplifting too - including a stirring version of Will Your Anchor Hold In The Storms of Life - the very appropriate choice of Rev'd Richard Hooton, a Methodist minister serving the churches in Douglas. Your hymn choices are always welcome - to let me know what you would like to hear in forthcoming programmes, email me - judithley@manxradio.com

Named after the Easterhouse area of Glasgow, the band was formed in Stretford, near Manchester by brothers Andy and Ivor Perry, Peter Vanden, Gary Rostock and Michael Murray in the early 1980s.[2] Andy Perry, intrigued by communism and inspired by Bob Marley's direct delivery of political content, was invited to join the band in order to improve its lyrical content. Perry's political stance reflected the perspectives of the then active Revolutionary Communist Party, with particular regard to Irish politics. Easterhouse played their first gig on 30 August 1983 at Dingwalls in London as the support band for The Smiths after Ivor Perry convinced Morrissey to let them have the opening spot. Their Rough Trade singles "Whistling In The Dark" and "Inspiration" were both Top 5 independent chart hits. Their energetic first album, Contenders, featuring their signature song, "1969", has been compared to The Chameleons, New Model Army, and The Smiths. In July 1986, Easterhouse participated in the Festival of the Tenth Summer. After Contenders, Ivor left the band; by the time second album Waiting for the Redbird was released in 1989, Andy Perry was the sole remaining member of the original line-up. It produced a minor hit, "Come Out Fighting", which had significant airplay in the US, and spawned a Justin Strauss remix version of the same song.
