The latest instalment of the Merseyside derby didn't fail to entertain as James Tarkowski escaped a red card before Diogo Jota settled proceedings with the only goal of the game to move the Reds closer to the Premier League title. Arsenal won on Tuesday night to momentarily pressure Arne Slot's side, but it wasn't enough to cause the Slot machine to malfunction. Elsewhere, a Sandro Tonali unintentional screamer earned Newcastle a win over Brentford, leaving the Geordies in charge of the race for the top four, having played a game less than 4th placed Man City. And finally, Southampton moved within a point of finally matching Derby County's humiliating 11-point haul with a draw at home to Crystal Palace. Summer pod has come early as the sun is shining and the Premier League is basically over once again.Any hopes of Saka's comeback goal against Fulham sparking some kind of title race chances for Arsenal were dashed just 24 hours later as Liverpool beat Everton in another Merseyside derby to extend their lead at the top.The heads of Carabao marketing must have looked on in glee as 100's of thousands lined the streets in Newcastle's first trophy parade in 70 odd years, but where oh where could the Geordies go to keep the party rolling?Things are going well for Aston Villa as their new superstars score for fun while they are going deep in the Champions League. But..is it too good to be true?Nottingham Forest beat Man United 1-0 thanks to a great goal from another player in a long line of players currently thriving away from their former club - Anthony Elanga. And in their time of need who did Man United turn to? Why Harry Maguire again of course.Support the showWant to support us and also get some sweet bonus exclusive pods? Arne Slot's chances of winning a European-Domestic double in his first Liverpool season were dashed by PSG last night as the 6-time Champions League winners were knocked out in the last 16. Will this be a blow ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final at Wembley with Newcastle? Or will they use it as fuel to beat the Geordies under the arch? Is it classist to stop Geordies using the term of endearment 'pet'? After the University of Newcastle sent out guidance to researchers advising they avoid using the word 'pet' as it might feel patronising or sexist to women, people took to social media to claim this was a classist move. It sparked a wider discussion about accents and class. Others claimed accents shouldn't be used as a marker of identity and that speaking with Received Pronunciation could be an equalising tool that could prevent prejudice. So what are the origins of RP and what does the data show about our perceptions of accents?GUESTS: Jasmine Andersson, writer and journalist Jonathan Meades, writer and critic Lynda Mugglestone, Professor of the history of English at the University of Oxford Dr Christian Ilbury, lecturer in Socio-linguistics at the University of Edinburgh
