When you hear the story of the prodigal son, who do you see yourself as? Are you the wayward son who runs away from the father? Are you the father? Or are you the brother who stays behind? Most of us tend to see ourselves as the wayward son, the one who gets welcomed back by the father with open arms. And for those of us who came to faith later in life, after trying out our own path, that may have been true. But what about now? If you're not the wayward son anymore, and you're not the father, maybe you, maybe we are the other son. Transcript: Series Two, Episode One, God's Forever Journey. Geoff: God's single biggest goal is that all creation would be aligned to Him, that everyone on earth, all nearly 8 billion, would align our hearts with His. It's His mission of reconciliation to the world. Paul says in his Letter to the Corinthians that God has given followers of Christ, the "ministry of reconciliation." That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself. It is God's purpose to make all things new, that everything would reflect God's creation intent. Geoff: In this episode, we'll be going on a journey from Genesis to Revelation, exploring God's plan for creation's reconciliation to Himself and His heart for us, which has shaped His plan for the world. From the start, until today. Reader 2: Genesis 3, Verses 8-10. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God, as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And they hid from the Lord God, among the trees of the garden. The Lord called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was... Support this podcast
As the body of Christ, we are living members of Christ's crucified, resurrected, and ascended body. It is the Spirit who guides and gifts and graces us with unique and precious gifts given to us for ministry. But, do all of us have a role? But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ. We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so we are formed into one body. It didn't matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink. So the body is not made up of just one part. It has many parts. The writers of books of the Bible come from an age where they were really masters of imagery and storytelling. Throughout the New Testament followers of Christ, like you and me, were described in many ways. So, what do these descriptions mean for each of us? Their experiences are unique. Let's start with Glenn. He's a pastor and author originally from Malaysia and now serving in the U.S. I asked Glenn, as a pastor, how he helps people understand, how we as individuals are made in the image of God. Glenn: Yes, so many times when people talk about the image of God, Geoff, they refer to our intellect, or a sense of consciousness. And all of those things are certainly, surely part of it.
