In light of Pastor Robert Morris' sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl over several years in his 20s, which led to his recent resignation from Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, guest host Adam McManus interviewed Elizabeth Good, a sexual trauma expert and author of Groomed: Overcoming the Messages That Shaped Our Past and Limit Our Future. As someone who experienced sexual abuse as a pre-teen and went on to counsel thousands of sexual trauma survivors, Elizabeth founded TheFoundationUnited.org and brings a unique lens to the Robert Morris situation. She explains that an abused person is more likely to act out the abuse they experienced on someone else, enter an abusive relationship or pass it on to their children, who will probably repeat the cycle, if not escalate it. It's generational if it remains unspoken and unhealed. Currently, 1 out of 2 children are experiencing adverse childhood experiences. With no off ramps or mechanism to process that trauma, it gets buried – but it never stays buried. While sexual trauma statistically begins at 3-4 years of age, research shows that victims don't speak about it until in their 50s – and by then another generation has been affected. She says, “Those who don't have an offramp for processing that sexual trauma – especially children – will continue the cycle. Even early exposure to porn – which is almost unavoidable with today's technology – can lead children down either one of two paths – victim or abuser.” Her latest book, Speak the Unspeakable: Real Talk on Secrets, Sex and Being Set Free, helps people stop concealing their trauma. Her work creating Real Talk for kindergarten students through senior leadership is helping people combat the dangers of hidden trauma and “unspeakable” secrets, transforming families, corporations, and the Church worldwide. Reflecting on the recent scandal involving Pastor Robert Morris, my heart has been heavy, compelling me to consider the vital importance of a renewed fear of God within the Christian community. This episode of the Jamie Luce Podcast addresses the sobering reality that while loving God is essential, fearing Him is equally crucial to our spiritual integrity. Through the poignant recollection of Jim Baker's story, we illustrate how neglecting this fear can lead to devastating moral failings, urging believers to introspect deeply and prepare earnestly for the return of Jesus Christ. Sin's destructive power is a harsh reality that has dismantled ministries and shattered communities, as evidenced by the lives of fallen leaders. We delve into Deuteronomy 4:24, reflecting on God's nature as a consuming fire and a jealous God. By examining examples like Moses and the prophets of Baal, we offer insights on how God's purifying fire guides us to remain faithful and holy. This chapter emphasizes the urgent need for unwavering commitment to God, avoiding any form of spiritual compromise, and relying on the Holy Spirit for strength. Understanding and embracing the fear of the Lord is paramount for living a righteous life. We explore key scriptures from Deuteronomy, Philippians, and Malachi to highlight the profound impact of fearing God on our spiritual journey. By renewing our minds and presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, as exhorted in Romans 12, we align ourselves with God's perfect will. Drawing inspiration from King David's story, we underscore the power of self-examination and repentance, reminding listeners that forgiveness and redemption are always accessible through Jesus Christ. This episode calls for a wholehearted commitment to living a surrendered life for Christ, recognizing that through Him, our past sins are forgiven and transformed into a testimony of grace. The scandal unfolding at Gateway Church with Pastor Robert Morris is tragic. How did God allow this to happen? Why would God seemingly bless a ministry when their leader was secretly involved in corrupt, ungodly activities? Of course, Gateway is not alone in this. It's far more common than we'd like to admit. CNN hosted the first Presidential debate. Biden looked like himself and the media and democrats pretended to be surprised. What does this mean for the rest of the race and for our country? The Supreme Court had a busy week. They leaked the decision in the Idaho abortion case, overturned a major Chevron decision, limiting the power of federal agencies, and they ruled in favor of a J6 defendant who challenged his ‘obstructing an official proceeding' charge. Former Trump adviser, Kash Patel, revealed Paul Ryan was the first to receive a copy of the Steele dossier in 2016. Special counsel Jack Smith admitted his office mislead the court about the location of documents in the Mar-a-Lago case. A man hit the Walmart “reorder” button on a 2022 order that was $126, to find out it is now $414. Megachurch pastor Tony Evans stepped away from ministry, citing a past sin. Pastor Robert Morris resigned from Gateway Church after a past child sexual abuse story surfaced. An Alaskan bank robber was caught trying to rob a bank he also failed to rob five years prior. The first time he was caught immediately after while counting the money outside. He also passed the teller a note with him name and birthdate on the back.

This week we're talking about the developing story surrounding pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church, a multi-campus Texas monstrosity boasting over 100k congregants. Cindy Clemishire is a brave woman who has accused Robert Morris of molesting her from 1982 to 1987, beginning when she was just 12 years old. Although she has sought justice against Morris multiple times, Cindy has watched in frustration and despair as he dodged nearly all consequences for his actions and become a prominent national figure in the Evangelical world. All that began to change just a couple of weeks ago thanks to this blog post… Let's hope that Cindy finally gets the justice she deserves for the disgusting crimes perpetrated against her!

It's Friday, June 21st, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Armenian Christian man received 10-year prison sentence in Iran After losing a court appeal in early June, Armenian Hakop Gochymayan received a 10-year prison sentence for allegedly participating in Christian activities in Iran, reports International Christian Concern. Gochymayan and his wife, Elisa, who is of Iranian descent and has family in Iran, were detained near Tehran in August 2023. In a report from Barnabas Aid, the couple was “placed in solitary confinement and subjected to intense psychological torture.” Hebrews 13:3 says, “Don't forget those who are in prison. Remember them as though you were in prison with them. And don't forget those who are suffering. Remember them as though you were suffering with them.” Authorities in Pardis, Iran, arrested the couple, who were in the country visiting friends and family as they dined at an acquaintance's home. Reportedly, the Armenian man had several copies of the New Testament, written in the Persian language of Farsi, and had attended multiple churches during his stay. In an attempt to dissuade conversions, it is illegal in Iran to speak to non-Christians about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to have Bibles written in Farsi, which is the nation's official language. According to Open Doors, Iran is the ninth most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un sign pact in China's shadow Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a new pact Wednesday that includes a pledge of mutual defense if either is attacked, reports NBC News. The agreement was sealed at a summit in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, during a rare visit by Putin to the reclusive nuclear-armed state as both countries face growing confrontations with the West. The BBC noted that the real power in the region was not in Pyongyang, nor did it want to be. Putin and Kim were bonding on China's doorstep. While North Korean artillery would be a shot in the arm for Putin's war effort, swapping missile technology for it would not exactly be a great deal. And Putin might realize it's not worth annoying China, which buys Russian oil and gas, and remains a crucial ally in a world that has isolated him. Pyongyang needs China even more. It's the only other country Kim Jong Un visits. Anywhere between a quarter to a half of North Korea's oil comes from Russia, but at least 80% of its business is with China. Megachurch pastor Robert Morris resigns over moral failure Megachurch pastor Robert Morris, the 62-year-old founder of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, resigned after Cindy Clemishire accused him of sexually abusing her over multiple years in the 1980s beginning when she was 12, reports The Christian Post. Morris had admitted that he had engaged in "inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady" while he was a pastor at another church in his early 20s. But he did not name his accuser or disclose her age at the time the abuse began. 1 Timothy 3:2 and 7 says, “Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach. … He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.” In the announcement of Morris' resignation, Gateway Church elders said they have retained the law firm of Haynes & Boone, LLP, to "conduct an independent, thorough, and professional review of the report of past abuse to ensure we have a complete understanding of the events from 1982-1987." In their statement, the elders wrote, “Regretfully, prior to Friday, June 14, the elders did not have all the facts of the inappropriate relationship between Morris and the victim, including her age at the time and the length of the abuse. The elders' prior understanding was that Morris's extramarital relationship, which he had discussed many times throughout his ministry, was with ‘a young lady' and not abuse of a 12-year-old child.” However, Cindy Clemishire claims that in 2007 “at least one elder had specific notice that I was sexually abused beginning when I was 12 years old.” One ripple effect is that the Texas-based Daystar Television Network, one of the largest Christian television networks in the world, has removed all programming featuring Robert Morris. German shot put athlete gives glory to God German athlete Yemisi Ogunleye won the bronze medal in the shot put competition at the European Athletics Championships in Rome with a throw of 61 feet, reports Evangelical Focus. After winning the silver medal at the World Championships in Glasgow in March 2024, she has become one of the leading names in her discipline. After competing, she said, “I gave it my all.” In addition to her sporting career, the athlete also openly talks about her Christian faith and participates in a Gospel choir. On social media she wrote, “Thank you for the many prayers. Is God good? All the time!” Psalm 29:2 says, “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.” 8 Worldview listeners donated $3,390 And finally, toward our $63,000 goal by this Saturday, June 22nd – the three-week mark of our month-long fundraiser, 8 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. Today, we discuss the recent confession of "inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady" from Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church. The alleged victim, Cindy Clemishire, claims the abuse began when she was just 12 years old and Morris was 21 and lasted for more than four years. What does this mean for Christians, particularly in light of Pastor Tony Evans' recent resignation over sin? Are all Christians qualified to be teachers? In today's weekend episode we have highlights of a prior show. Today's guest only learned of Amazon REPLENS just a few short months ago. She's a busy mom working full-time and pursuing a business degree but she's managed to just have a very healthy five figure month on Amazon using the strategies as taught in the ProvenAmazonCourse.com course. We covered episode #775 - Busy mom pursuing a college degree while also building a beautiful Amazon business. The full episode can be heard at https://silentjim.com/podcast Highlights include: Jim gives some introductory information: www.theprovenconference.com in order to register for the annual conference - May 23-25, 2024 in Orlando, FL! Book a free call with Jim's team regarding coaching (every coach has their own successful Amazon business!) www.silentjim.com/bookacall The guest details her journey in the e-commerce world which started with Mercari and Poshmark before she found Amazon. She discusses ASD in Las Vega. Now that it's the beginning of 2024, she is re-evaluating how to keep the momentum going and how to continue to grow! The guest shares with Jim that during December, her sourcing was about 40% wholesale and 60% RA/OA. Jim encourages her to keep the wholesale going since she has already learned a lot (typically we do not recommend new sellers start with wholesale). But Jim REALLY encourages the guest to focus on the low hanging fruit while she is trying to ramp up and to do more RA and OA! Jim recommends Podcast #369 for all things Keepa! The guest mentions Seller Amp, which estimates sales per month (from Keepa data). Jim reminds the listeners to not get emotionally attached to any ASINs! The guest had an incredibly busy Q4 with merchant fulfilling her sales! Jim then asks the guest what her process is for finding winning ASINs! The guest shares that she uses reverse sourcing and Jim affirms that this is an acceptable method to find test worthy ASINs The guest shares how she found out that her boyfriend's boss sells on Amazon as well. She was excited to know someone so close who is doing the same thing! Reminder that you can use the My Silent Team Facebook page to find other sellers located close to where you live! - https://www.facebook.com/groups/mysilentteam/posts/4243062552476489/ The guest asks for Jim's favorite book recommendations (aside from the Bible!): Business Secrets from the Bible by Rabbi Daniel Lapin. (The Rabbi is going to be the keynote speaker at The Proven Conference May 23-25, 2024!) The Blessed Life and Beyond Blessed by Pastor Robert Morris - which have to do with stewardship. Entreleadership by Dave Ramsey The guest asks Jim about inventory management and how best to go about handling all the moving pieces! Jim recommends Podcast #754 with Khang (who is coming out with new software- www.silentjim.com/system). Replen Dashboard is another good option (Jimmy Smith). Sponsored by Buy or Sell on Amazon If you are well positioned to take advantage of buying an established Amazon account at the start of your Amazon journey, it can make sense to do so! Benefits include potentially far faster payouts, fewer category or storage restrictions, a better seller rating on the platform and an established account health reputation with Amazon - just to name a few. Read about the only Buy/Sell services we like at: https://SilentJim.com/buyorsell Show note LINKS: The Replens Dashboard - Replen Dashboard accurately tracks product movement and trends to help you with buying decisions and inventory projections.
