Who will “fear and tremble”? What will be the cause? We follow on from yesterday's thoughts and read and reflect on the remarkable latter day prophecy given to Jeremiah while he is “shut up in the court of the guard” [33 v.1] His situation was a real trial of his faith – and we should ponder what kind of desperate situations we might experience in the “time of trouble, such as there has never been … But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.” [Dan. 12 v.1] How long before this time? God has not provided a calendar, but he has provided signs! Israel regathered and turmoil in and around the Holy land! The verses at the end of Daniel 11 are but one place where the signs are described.. Jesus said, “for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short” [Matt 24 v.22] About his people, now in terrible trouble, Jeremiah is told, “I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security, I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel … and this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them. They shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.” [ v.6,7,9] God then tells Jeremiah, “In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness … Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called, ‘The LORD is our righteousness.” [v.15,16] Imagine the feelings of the prophet as he, in his anxieties over all that is happening, and his personal situation, receives this divine message. Now switch the perspective to the 21st Century and the potential, before Christ comes when “they shall fear and tremble…” [v.9] but while those who do not know God's word will do so out of great anxiety, those who do know – and most surely believe his word, shall, says the Lord to Jeremiah, “fear and tremble because of all the prosperity I provide … there shall be heard again the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride …” [v.10] Let us make sure we are part of the bride; meditate on Rev. 19 v. 7-9.

We fear we're forming a whole generation that can defend every dogma online… yet never actually tremble in front of God. We reacted to a video that argues the point that a religion without mysticism is just philosophy. Then we got honest about the difference between knowing about God and actually encountering Him. We look to St. John of the Cross, Thomas Aquinas, and the quiet old man who simply looked at Jesus and let Jesus look back. We also explain why some of the most “courageous” online defenders of the faith are just being jerks in the name of orthodoxy. Featuring: Fr. Simon Esshaki, Fr. Andy Younan, Fr. Augustine Joseph, Fr. In this episode we talk about the oft misunderstood doctrine of the fear of the Lord. We reference Michael Reeves book, Rejoice and Tremble as a helpful guide in understanding this necessary and stabilizing truth. We discuss how rightly fearing God humbles us and calms our anxieties, and the unique, comforting knowledge of God that Christians have with a God who is both transcendent and imminent.ResourcesRejoice and Tremble by Michael ReevesGentle and Lowly by Dane OrtlundThe Loveliest Place by Dustin BengeWhat Does It Mean to Fear the Lord? by Michael ReevesThe Heart of Christ by Thomas GoodwinFriendship with God by Mike McKinleyCommunion with God by John OwenThe Fear of God by John BunyanThe Institutes of the Christian Religion by John CalvinKnowing God by J.I. Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! This Sunday's message takes us into the heart of spiritual warfare, revealing a truth that should bring tremendous comfort to every believer: Jesus Christ holds absolute authority over the entire demonic realm. Walking through Luke chapter 4, we witness Jesus in the synagogue at Capernaum, teaching with unprecedented authority that amazed everyone present. But what happens next is truly remarkable—a demon-possessed man manifests, and Jesus simply commands the demon to leave. No struggle, no contest, just immediate obedience. This scene unveils a critical truth we must grasp: demons tremble in terror at the very existence of God.

Permission To Turn Up The Volume Read Luke 19:28-40 It is more likely that inanimate objects like rocks would cry out to Jesus in worship than for the King of kings to enter his capital city without honor. Jesus encouraged the joyful praise of the people, He didn't suppress it. But how quickly things would change in less than a week, as many of these same people would yell, "Crucify!" Human beings created in God's image make much better worshippers than mere rocks. - Line in the movie Troy by Achilles when fighting Hector. A few other instances of inanimate objects crying out in praise: "Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. He turned the rock into a pool of water; yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock." - Psalms 114:6-8 NLT "You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!" - Isaiah 55:12 NLT "Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars! Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!" - Psalms 148:3-4 NLT "mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds, kings of the earth and all people, rulers and judges of the earth, young men and young women, old men and children. Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven! He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord!" - Psalms 148:9-14 NLT As Kingdom Writers, may our written words give others permission to turn up the volume and burst into cheers with the joyful praise that our King Jesus is due. Let's not give rocks any reason to cry out. Our joyful praise and worship now is practice for the future coronation of our King in that same city of Jerusalem

What if experiencing God's closeness wasn't rare, but constant? What if freedom from sin didn't come from trying harder, but from being so satisfied in Christ that sin simply lost its appeal? In this message from Pepperdine University, Francis Chan calls us beyond hype and emotional moments to a faith that truly abides - a life rooted in Jesus, shaped by His Word, and empowered by His Spirit. This is about a relationship that doesn't fade when the gathering ends, but grows deeper over time. This isn't behavior modification. It's transformation from the inside out. When the Holy Spirit fills a life, something real begins to change. Desires shift. Conviction deepens. Freedom becomes tangible. And what starts as a spark can become a fire that lasts for decades.
