When was the last time you felt truly moved by something you saw or heard? It could be a piece of art or music, a line from a book or poem, being with someone you love, or even a perfect bite of food, but those moments that stop us in our tracks are more than fleeting pleasures. These “glimmers” create space for our bodies to exhale so that we can experience wonder, awe, and joy.Learning to recognize and lean into these moments isn't just about respite from the hard things; they help us navigate challenging times by reminding us that humans need connection, creativity, and hope. Today's guest is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work invites us into a world of creativity and intention. It is a testament to the necessity of nurturing creativity and wonder, and what's possible when we follow their pull as allies in our journey to love and lead with boldness and integrity.Amanda Jones is an artist, poet, and filmmaker living and working in the northern beaches of Sydney Australia. Amanda studied ‘Contemporary dance and choreography' at the School of Creative Arts and ‘Styling and creative direction' at Whitehouse Fashion Institute. She founded her film production company One Minute Film in 2015 working with clients such as The Iconic, Nimble Activewear, and Barre Body. In 2021 Amanda published her first book Diary of a Freelancer, its success shifted her work into her full-time art practice. Listen to the full episode to hear:How early experiences at the intersection of creativity and commerce shaped Amanda's career trajectoryHow Amanda realized that some pieces of her journals were meant to be sharedWhy her journaling practice is vital to both her personal life and her work lifeHow Amanda approached self-publishing her book to make it a piece of art and embrace its mistakesHow balancing play and discipline as she takes on a new medium helps Amanda combat imposter syndromeHow Amanda protects her creativity and imagination despite our challenging worldLearn more about Amanda Jones:WebsiteInstagram: @amanda______jonesDiary of a FreelancerLearn more about Rebecca:rebeccaching.comWork With RebeccaSign up for the weekly Unburdened Leader EmailResources:Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead, Brené BrownThe Artist's Way, Julia CameronThe Name of the Wind, Patrick RothfussBleachers - Tiny MovesDrops of GodSeinfeld

“Using your body as a machine” is a quote that sticks out from our chat with Ashley Layne! She identified with movement when she was just two years old! ”Trust the movement” she says often and her love for community and connection propelled her to create her own “Barre” movement in the Hudson Valley in New York! Listen to how bold she has been — in a business that was adversely impacted by COVID, she doubled down to expand! Talk about faith! Ashley Layne is the creator and owner of Barre Body & Soul. A former dancer for 20+ years before turning into a fitness/wellness enthusiast, Ashley has trained with nationally renowned teachers in New York City under Exhale's Barre program with Fred Devito and Elisabeth Halfpapp, as well as completing the 200hr YogaWorks Teacher training. Ashley got more involved in the wellness industry while living in NYC, shifting her focus as a professional dancer to studying Barre Fitness, pilates and yoga. Experiencing the benefits of moving mindfully sparked her inspiration to create a studio where people could move freely, without judgement and still gain physical strength, while de-stressing. As a mother of three and a business owner, her mission is to create a safe space for her community to step back into their bodies and not only workout but also work “in”. In addition to a full schedule of classes, the studio also offers monthly workshops, a unique Wellness & clothing boutique and infrared sauna all under one roof. The positive energy and motivating music brings a unique experience to every class! Over the past 9 years, Emma established eight bespoke and beautifully appointed Barre studios across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Byron Bay, and created an incredibly popular online studio, Barre Body Online. She has an enormous passion for all things relating to wellness and strives to lead a balanced life; eating well, living well, loving well and exercising well. When Covid hit Emma and her husband did everything they could to keep the business alive when having to lockdown all their studios and refocus all their resources to the online platform to keep the business afloat. As founder of both Barre Body and Bende, Emma Seibold is something of a force of nature. The pocket rocket blonde radiates the kind of glow that only comes from wholesome living; she clearly practices what her health-focused businesses preaches. Opening in Feb 2012, Barre Body was born from two things: the birth of Emma's first child, Xavier, in August 2011 and her subsequent desire to gently regain her pre-baby fitness; and the trend overseas (endorsed by many a celeb) for fitness classes incorporating barre conditioning work. Barre Body offers signature barre, pilates, cardio, yoga and stretchclasses that focus on balancing the mental and physical benefits of exercise; all classes are strong and dynamic, offering physical results while clearing and calming the mind. In nine years, Emma has also led countless international retreats and trained well over 1,000 teachers in Barre and Pilates via Barre Body's certified in-person and online teacher training programs. Emma's proudest achievement remains Barre Body's philanthropic contributions to One Girl; funding the education of 50 girls in Sierra Leone, and extensive support to UN Women.

I loved hearing the wonderful 'Eat, Prey, Eat' element of Emma's story! Eight years on and Emma has done incredibly well turning her business into a globally recognised workout and fitness education company. COVID 19 however has seen Emma temporarily close nine studios across Australia and just hustle like all hell to figure out a path forward for her business. Thankfully Emma had spent the last few years building over 200 online workouts as well as certified instructor training programs across Barre, Pilates and Yoga…and so the business ready for the ISO pivot. The fast-flip didn't come without sleepless nights and the juggle to keep a business afloat while homeschooling two small children at the same time! An inspirational story and a wonderful woman who I can confirm is indeed a joy-chaser! Instagram @barrebodywww.barrebody.com.au See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Erick Hardwick, owner/general manager/personal trainer at Valhalla Health and Fitness Club, tells Zeke that their personal trainers each bring a little something different to their training philosophy, their experience and their motivation behind why they do what they do. Hardwick tells Zeke that their training team was assembled that way purposefully because personal training should never be a one-size-fits-all experience. Each of their trainers take the time to truly get to know you and know your goals and to develop a personalized plan to help you achieve success in the gym, whether you are an athlete, a professional or a senior citizen. Hardwick says Vahalla, working with medical professionals, also offers training for those recovering from falls or other injuries. Hardwick tells Zeke that Valhalla offers a variety of high-quality group exercise classes led by enthusiastic, certified instructors. Whether you are new to exercise or a seasoned athlete, each class offers accommodations and options for all fitness levels to ensure you receive a fun, safe and effective workout to meet your fitness needs and goals. Hardwick tells Zeke that in their main Group X studio at Valhalla, they offer Silver Sneakers classes for retirees, several freestyle formats, and the latest in Les Mills group exercise, including BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT, BODYSTEP and CXWORX. In their Barre & Body studio, they offer several styles of yoga, Pilates and barre classes.
