Periodically on the podcast we'll consider picture books that could be called "cult classics" in some manner. You know the type. Who Needs Donuts? The Lonely Doll. That sort of thing. They're books that may not be a part of the cultural zeitgeist but for a significant contingent of readers, they mean the world. Bill Canterbury was recently interviewed on Betsy's site in conjunction with the release of his new picture books, and he later sent me some suggestions for the podcast. As such, we thought we might try my hand with this one. We've never done a Seibold before, and we were curious to see how this 1993 publication held up. Turns out... it sure as heck couldn't have come out any year BUT 1993, that's for sure. We discuss the muted palette, busy pages, outsider art, and how this is only one of three books in the same series. Round 8 of the NRL season has been the round of multiple sin bins and Manly coach Anthony Seibold (34.08) saw 3 players binned in his team's win over Penrith. He told Andrew Moore and John Gibbs that he's got plenty of sympathy with the referees but that he's not sure what the bunker will decide about the outcome of any tackle. He also gave an update on the fitness of Tom Trbojevic and said he's got full confidence in the commitment of Daly Cherry-Evans. Plus you can hear this week's 6 Again (8:59), Get to Know Tim Gavel (1:19:29) and hear Denis Carnahan's Song of the week (1.35:46).

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Manly took another big step to locking in a finals spot with a solid win over the Warriors in dreadful conditions at Brookvale. Coach Anthony Seibold joined Andrew Moore and the team to explain how they aren't getting too far ahead of themselves and are working session by session rather than looking at the finals. However he did seem to be interested in an offer from Michael Carayannis to join his regime when the time comes to stop coaching!
A Round 24 win over the Warriors has left Manly close to securing a finals spot in the NRL. And coach Anthony Seibold is delighted with the way things are going - particularly now he's got his big names back and firing. He told Andrew Moore and the team lucky he feels to be coaching the likes of Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans and how he's enjoying being a head coach more than ever. He did admit though that he won't be coaching forever...
Manly coach Anthony Seibold has confirmed Tom Trbojevic will remain at fullback going forward after playing a key role in the club's run of four wins from the past five games.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
