Today’s Hook: You are pursuing a vigilante who is killing city guards. The guards all have the same tattoo. (Game Hook #326 by Critical Dice on Instagram) Admittedly, most Adventure Hook episodes are kind of Halloween episodes. Nevertheless… this time it’s actuallyHalloween! So let’s get right to the spooky… The Adventure Hook guys start this holiday episode off with some delightfully campy old skool slasher mayhem and follow that up with a dose of some secret society creepy criminal cultish chaos… and then skip right past all that stuff and go darker than ever before by delving into some seriously real concepts of horror. A few of them end up becoming so intense that the guys end up needing a pallet cleanser, and so circle back around again to a much safer (yet still quite spooooky) Trick-or-Treat scenario for a charming Halloween themed game… again, at least to start with! Yet long after the episode ends… those horrors imagined in the town of South Alem will likely linger on with the listener still… Did Adventure Hook finally go too far this time? For some people, it’s quite possible. Whether it’s a True Detective inspired Southern Gothic-style the Crucible meets Cthulhu or an 80’s satanic panic kids on bikes-style Willy Wonka meets Halloween III, you’re in for the most nightmarish of mashup episodes imaginable. But, then again… too much additional explanation here simply risks spoiling the show. Today’s Hook: A visitor claiming to be a historian from the future is here to observe the great heroes that helped shape his civilization. Details surrounding the PCs’ demise are the parts he’s hoping to gain historical clarification on What would you do if you absolutely idolized your older brother… but he suddenly vanished and now you and your friends are the only people who can even remember he ever existed? If it was a brotherly love, like that of Boromir and Faramir… you’d totally freak out, right? And that’s not even the half of it, as this week the Adventure Hook guys use the powers of time travel to turn back the clock to that most eerie and mysterious age… the 1980s! And of course your two GMs bring a few Lovecraftian concepts along for good measure. Hide that “Cthulhu shit” you learned at Miskatonic University in your Trapper-Keeper… because things are about to get weird… like, totally Eighties weird… Childhood friends united by their shared “lack of experiences” must use various different forms of time travel to unravel (or perhaps re-knit together) the tangles of their fractured memories…  From a Carter family heirloom with unlimited Astral potential, to a consciousness projecting temporal drug, to good ol’ fashioned Hypnosis… all may be needed by our band of nerds to keep the Silver Man, the Man in the Brown Van, and the Man in the Round Room each from staying one step ahead of those pesky 5thdimensional “time wolves”. In this week's episode, after hightailing out of a party that Cannibal Death Cult was playing at, our group of kids nearly ran over a strange boy without a jacket during a snowstorm. They tracked him down through the forest and there were flashlights and gunshots. Joel gets launched against a tree when he threatens the boy, this kid is really weird. They got back to the truck and were being chased by roided out and mutated pitbulls. We left off last episode at Lance's house, with a loud banging on the door in the dead of night....who is out there and who is this mysterious kid? Ruby Weaver's family owns a older ski-resort with a giant fiber-glass penguin that was built in the 1950's and is really starting to show its age. Recently, a new ski lodge opened in town and her family is currently struggling to make ends meet and compete. Also, the town is infamous for a statue in the town square made for the notorious alleged cannibal, a pioneer (who is less famous than the Donner party)named Alfred Packer. Also, the town is trying to get over the bad publicity following a string of murders that have taken place in the town over the last few years. GM- Jason Valetta Players: Kristy Cutsforth (Ruby; brother died in a tragic accident, she thinks he was murdered. Used to try to be popular and hang in his circle, but now she's alone a lot and is channeling her anger into playing keytar in Joel's metal band.) Kerry Cutsforth (Joel; tall scrawny metal kid who has a reputation as a drug dealer after taking the fall for his friend Lance.) Danny Gilitzer (Steve; a popular cross country skier, friend of Ruby's dead brother. A social chameleon, he's just trying to figure stuff out.)
