Kris Cantrell owns and runs Cantrell Outdoors. He typically says to start with a gun you can do a lot with. He often recommend the .300 ultra magnum. It is a magnum cartridge which can shoot just about anything in the lower 48 states of North America.“Shoot as big of a caliber as you are comfortable with.” Some hunters are recoil sensitive so this can limit their caliber size.Muzzle breaks redirect the sound right back to your ears though they also help with recoil. Wearing ear plugs is a must in this type of a setup.Kris is excited, and he uses, carbon fiber barrels. These barrels will take a big percentage of weight off of your overall weight of your rifle.First time rifle buyers should buy a cheaper manufactured gun for their first rifle. Custom guns, like this Kris make, are a lot more expensive,Scopes, even within the same brand, can vary in price. This can altar the overall price of your hunting setup. When shooting a gun for the first time, you might consider using multiple brands of bullets in order to figure what your rifle will do with each bullet. also, when at the range, try shooting off the belly, kneeling and standing in order to practice a real, possible shot.Bipods are helpful in the field. Make sure to practice with them and in the style where you will need to use the bipod. Otherwise you might consider leaving it at home.Follow the podcast- https://www.instagram.com/iwillhuntpodcast/Follow Cantrell Outdoors- https://www.instagram.com/cantrelloutdoors/Cantrell Outdoors website- https://cantrelloutdoors.comJack Mattingly of the Whiskey Fever was nice enough to write a short song to use as the intro and outro. The Everyday Sniper Episode 212 Rear Bags, Bipods, Comments Back at it this week, I just shot a short video, did a rear bag lesson and wanted to talk about some lessons learned. We see a lot of different shooters, situations, and equipment when teaching a class. That experience allows us to look at things happening with our precision rifle shooting on a microscopic level. We really want to breakdown this process into the smallest components possible. So with that, we see a lot of rear bag movement which causes some vertical stringing and weird flies with guys because the bag is moving out from under the stock. Choosing the right rear bag is just as important as choosing the right scope. Look at yourself, use your phone to film your technique and really just hyper analyze the process. We do these podcast episodes for you the listener, and the shooter. We want you to know the, "why" behind these things we talk about every week. The why is hte most important aspect of all shooting. Answer that correctly and the rest falls into place. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast
Today’s Guests: Austin Parr from Discount Fishing Tackle joins us for a fishing report and tells us about some of the great deals at the store. The Everyday Sniper Episode 162 Rifle Set up, Busted Computer, Class In this episode I am recovering from my computer breaking this week. So I was without my main system to finish doing video work. But from there I had some great feedback from the class. So I take a deep dive into rifle set up. We go over length of pull, we talk setting up the optics. It's about understanding the principles and how they apply to you. I cannot see or feel what you feel. Its just like your car. if I get in to drive I will move the seat. So it's important you look at this and understand the why. From there we talk bipods, as a question was asked. Which bipod for which situation. It matters, so it's important to talk about it. You know air our feelings on the subject. Again, thanks for commenting in the pod bean app. It's huge, and we appreciate it. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for commenting.
