Leaving people behind can be painful, but it's often necessary when you've chosen growth, healing, and self-trust. There will be moments when you realize that not everyone will walk the path you're on, and that's okay. Even though it can feel like it, letting go doesn't mean you're too much; it simply means you're stepping into deeper spaces that some people haven't reached yet. Also, the depth of connection is not just about what you bring. For a long time, I thought what I brought would be enough because I could make up for what the other person lacked, but it's also about how deeply the other person has explored their own heart and soul. Ending relationships while you're on a journey of finding yourself is one of the hardest things you'll ever do. It's gut-wrenching, messy, and often feels like the universe is testing you. But it's also a powerful lesson in choosing yourself, even when it feels impossible. In this episode, I'll explore how to navigate the grief of leaving people behind, adjust to relationships, or saying goodbye with grace, all while honoring your own healing. Download the worksheet to dig deeper into this process at http://andreaowen.com/668 What you'll hear about in this episode: Understanding the Pull to Let Go of Certain Relationships: Healing and aligning with your values leads to craving depth in relationships, revealing gaps; surrendering to the truth, not the fantasy; avoiding self-abandonment, and trusting yourself to let go when hope keeps you stuck. The Grief of Actually Letting Go: The grief of holding out hope that someone will change can feel easier than the grief of accepting them as they are. Creating Boundaries, Making Adjustments, and Saying Goodbye: How to adjust relationships, set boundaries, and say goodbye with love and clarity, while honoring your healing and not self-abandoning for someone else's comfort. A 54 Hour Sprint to Drive Positive Change Imagine dedicating a weekend to transforming an idea into a tangible business, surrounded by experienced mentors, industry leaders, and a community of like-minded women, all committed to making a real impact. This is the essence of Techstars Startup Weekend Women Dublin, where female entrepreneurs come together to build enterprises that tackle pressing challenges in society and business. Taking place from 21-23 March at Accenture Song, Dublin, this intensive event brings together women of diverse backgrounds - some stepping into entrepreneurship for the first time, others looking to take their experience in a new direction. The theme, "Business for Good," reflects a growing movement where commercial success and social impact go hand in hand. And, even though it says women in the title, everyone is welcome! For more information Eventbrite Booking Startup Weekend Championing Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship In today's business landscape, sustainability, ethical leadership, and social impact are no longer afterthoughts, they are driving forces for change. Female-led startups are leading the way, tackling challenges from climate change to financial inclusion, from education to ethical AI. Caitlin Hafer, the lead organiser and founder of What the Hack, has shaped this year's event around that very idea. "Entrepreneurship isn't just about profit, it's about purpose," she says. "This weekend is about proving that business can create real, positive change." The People Behind the Weekend Pulling together an event like this takes a team of experienced organisers, dedicated volunteers, and hands-on mentors. Alongside Caitlin, the planning team, Israel Ngombo, Deirdre McCarthy, Sharon Ramsey, Miren M. Samper, and Poorvi Gupta have worked to create a weekend that's both challenging and inspiring for participants. Mentors play a crucial role across the weekend, offering real-world advice, strategic insights, and the occasional reality check. This year, participants will have the opportunity to work with Aine Mulloy, Eugene Mitchell, Gloria Rull, Jenny Ervine, Laura Enache, Lauren O'Reilly, Leyla Karaha, Melissa Roa, Mike O'Dea, Sarah Fleisberg, and Sorcha Mulligan. (I'll also be there, bringing my own experience as a business mentor, having previously served as a judge at last year's event). Speaking of judges, Sunday's pitch session will be the defining moment of the weekend, where teams present their businesses to an expert panel. This year, the judging panel includes Anne Brady, Fiona Nagle, Raisa Pokrovskaya, and Mairin Murray - leaders in business, investment, and social impact. Their role? To offer constructive feedback, challenge assumptions, and highlight which ideas have real potential. What Happens Over the Weekend? Friday night is all about getting started. Participants pitch their ideas in one-minute presentations, after which teams form around the strongest concepts. Saturday is the big workday. With guidance from mentors, teams refine their business models, customer validation strategies, and product concepts, ensuring that they are building something that can work beyond the weekend. Sunday brings the final push. Teams polish their pitches before presenting them to the judges and a wider audience. Some will win prizes. Others will walk away with something just as valuable, a business idea with the potential to grow into something much bigger. "We're looking for ideas that go beyond the weekend," says Caitlin, "it's not just about innovation, it's about creating something with lasting impact." Why It Matters: Closing the Funding Gap Despite the success of female entrepreneurs, access to funding remains a significant challenge. Globally, startups founded solely by women received just 2% of venture capital funding in 2023. In Europe, that figure was 1.8%. In Ireland, the numbers are improving. A Tech Ireland report found that one in four startups that raised investment in 2022 had a fe...

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.public.newsFor many, the Executive Order issued last month by President Donald Trump to declassify and release the remaining records relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not that interesting or important. There's little evidence to support the conspiracy theories that anyone other than Lee Harvey Oswald killed former President John F. Kennedy, say journalists and historians. Oswald was a Left-wing extremist who had strong rifle skills from his time in the military. He could have shot Kennedy from the book depository behind the former president. Neither the investigation of the murder by Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren nor any other in the 60 years since has produced evidence that can't be explained. In truth, there are significant problems with the conventional explanation of Kennedy's assassination, and understanding what happened is essential to protecting America's democratic system, which assassinations, particularly ones that may have involved US government officials and agencies, undermine. There is evidence that Oswald didn't hate and rather admired Kennedy, particularly for what he had done for civil rights. And if Oswald had been motivated by politics to kill Kennedy, why would he have denied it when caught, claiming to be a “patsy,” a person set up to take the blame for a crime they didn't commit? If no other shooters were involved, then why does the famous Zapruder film of the assassination show Kennedy being shot in the front of the head at an angle Oswald did not have? And why did a man tied to the criminal underworld kill Oswald two days after the Kennedy assassination?

You have to love a person who has spent 43 years in a career and when asked ‘When are you retiring' their response is, ‘When I don't have anything else to learn'. Sheriff Karl Leonard of Chesterfield, Virginia, is that person. For his entire career, he's been a public servant; from a military career to the Chesterfield Police Department to the Pentagon and now the Sheriff of Chesterfield County, and despite all he's experienced, he continues to understand the human condition and find ways to be progressive to help those under his watch. His transparency in taking over the Sheriff's office is refreshing, as he's the first to admit that there was no Sheriff's instruction book. When his jail was inundated, daily, with locals, addicted to Heroin he trusted his instincts and felt that a higher power was guiding him. This led to the creation of the HARP program, a peer mentor-run program that over the last eight years has successfully helped 3500 people, overcome not just Heroin but other drug or alcohol addictions. As Sheriff Leonard says, ‘There's a lot of good people behind bars, and there are bad people too, that deserve to spend their lives there, but that's a small percentage of incarcerated people, and when you learn about (the good people) and their life and the challenges they grew up in, since birth, these are good people with bad circumstances presented to them…'

Both are second-generation iron workers. Jason's father helped build the twin span of the Blue Water Bridge linking Port Huron, Michigan, with Sarnia, Ontario. Casey's father worked on the Renaissance Center in Detroit as well as Joe Louis Arena. They talk about what working on this once-in-a-lifetime project means to both of them and how honored each of them was to participate in the handshake. They each spoke about it to the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority after the handshake: Said Huggett: “I said it was about time we got to shake hands after seeing each other from a distance for almost two years, it was really something special. That handshake means a lot to my family, my two sons and my father, who helped build the twin span for the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia.” And Whitson: “We would see each other, but we were far, across the river, apart for all these months working. To actually get to be able to meet each other and shake hands and say hello is really cool. It's the biggest moment in my career and I now share something with my father, who helped build the Renaissance Center in Detroit.”

That's due to a new state law that would take time off prisoner's sentences for taking part in work, educational, reentry or substance abuse programs. But the law isn't being consistently applied to eligible prisoners. Reset learns more about why and how that can change from Open Campus's Charlotte West, and the Illinois Prison Project's Candace Chambliss. For a full archive of Reset interviews, head over to wbez.org/reset.
