In this episode, I tests Polymet AI, an AI product designer tool, by creating a YouTube analytics prediction SaaS concept inspired by a viral tweet about predicting tweet performance. I compares Polymet AI with V0, noting that while Polymet required multiple prompts and offered less feedback during the design process, both tools ultimately produced usable designs. I concludes that different AI tools have different strengths, and using multiple tools in combination might yield the best results.Timestamps: 00:00 - Intro02:33 - First Impressions of Polymet03:57 - Startup Idea: Predicting YouTube Engagement05:03 - Initial Design Prompt10:11 - Polymet's First Design Output: TubePredict11:04 - UI and Functionality Issues and Debugging16:08 - Polymet's Second Design Output17:44 - Debugging pt 220:48 - Prompting v0 22:30 - v0's Design Output 23:41 - Polymet's Third Design Output24:49 - Comparing v0 and Polymer and Final Thoughts on Design Outputs27:36 - Conclusion and Recommendations for AI Design ToolsKey Points• I tests Polymet AI a new AI product designer tool that claims to help non-designers create production-ready designs• I compares Polymet AI with v0, a similar tool he's used before, by designing a YouTube analytics prediction tool• Both tools produced functional designs, but with different user experiences and output quality1) First impressions of Polymet AI:• Clean interface similar to ChatGPT• Includes voice input (huge plus!)• Image upload capability for reference designs• Credit-based system (250 free credits to start)• 50 credits per page generation2) The design process with Polymet was... interesting.PROS:• Named the product "TubePredict" automatically• Created decent landing page copy• Saved version historyCONS:• Slow generation (2+ minutes)• No progress indicator (frustrating!)• Initial designs missed the mark completely 3) After 3 attempts with increasingly specific prompts, Polymet finally delivered:• Clean, modern interface• Detailed A/B testing dashboard• Statistical confidence indicators• AI suggestions for optimizationBut the communication was ONE-WAY. No feedback loop!4) Meanwhile, v0 showed its strengths:• Real-time reasoning as it designed• Conversational approach ("I'll create a SaaS that...")• Faster FEELING process (transparency helps!)• Ability to ask clarifying questionsThe difference in experience was NIGHT and DAY.5) The final designs were surprisingly similar in quality!Polymet's strengths:• More detailed product features• Hover states built in• Actual code generationv0's advantages:• Slightly more polished visually• More "glassy" as requested• Better feedback loop6) MAJOR INSIGHT: The future isn't about finding ONE perfect AI design tool. It's about using MULTIPLE tools strategically:• Generate initial concepts in one• Refine in another• Mix and match their strengthsJust like we do with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.7) The REAL lesson? Knowing design terminology matters! When I specifically requested "glassmorphism" instead of just saying "glassy," both tools performed MUCH better. The more precise your design vocabulary, the better your AI design results.8) Would I recommend these tools? YES - but with expectations in check. Two years ago this would have been MIND-BLOWING.Today, our standards are higher. But for quick prototyping or inspiration, both tools deliver value in different ways.Notable Quotes:"Two years ago, if I would have seen this, I would have been like, 'Oh my God, everything has changed.' And now our bar for all these AI products is so high that the output needs to be incredible for you to really use it in your workflow.""How do you get the most out of them is just you use all of them, you realize what's best for each individual product... In this podcast episode, MRS Bulletin's Sophia Chen interviews Gwangmin Bae of Korea University about his work with colleagues on the design of a new smart window system that utilizes compression. Like other smart windows, this window makes use of pores within the material to adjust its transparency. However, instead of using a stretchy material that controls light scattering through the pores, Bae and colleagues used a material that compresses in thickness. That is, the window becomes more transparent when it is compressed. The researchers place this structured porous material made of the polymer polydimethylsiloxane or PDMS between two panes of glass to create the smart window. This work was published in a recent issue of Nature Communications.

As you know, we've been pushing the concept of chain abstraction as a key pillar to move into the internet-like UX era of crypto. Polymer and Peter share this vision as their love for IBC is inspired by the neutrality and accessibility of TCP/IP. Peter explained how Polymer's vision goes beyond the typical token bridges that we see today to creating a connectivity hub as an L2 using EigenDA. We'll explore what makes Polymer's approach different, from their core focus on interoperability standards to their integration with EigenDA for secure, cost-effective state proofing, why they see so many parallels to the internet era and how they're applying those lessons to Web3 today. Author Robert W. Yeh, MD, FACC, and JACC Associate Editor Celina M. Yong, MD, FACC, discuss the results of the TARGET-IV NA trial. In the trial, 1720 patients with stable or acute coronary syndromes were randomized to undergo PCI with a BP-SES or any commonly used 2nd generation DES. At 12 months, BP-SES was non-inferior to control DES for the primary endpoint of Target Lesion Failure (cardiac death, target vessel-related myocardial infarction (MI), or ischemia-driven target lesion revascularization) which occurred in 3.4% of the BP-SES arm versus 3.3% in the control arm; p-value for non-inferiority. Secondary endpoints were also similar between groups.

Welcome to episode 14 of EigenLayer Unlocked, for a deeper dive into the interop landscape of crypto with a tight parallel to the internet experience. Our focus today is on Polymer Labs, for a technical presentation with Bo Du. Polymer is dedicated to making onchain interop as smooth as possible by acting as the "messaging queue" that acts as an interop layer for various rollups. By leveraging EigenLayer's DA, they're scaling interop capacity to bring down costs and speed up transactions, enabling them to be a bridging hub for a potential future with thousands of L2s. The current hurdles of high latency, cost inefficiency, and complex data processing make it tough for blockchains to match the scale of traditional Web2 services. Bo has a very unique perspective on this landscape as he draws many analogies to traditional cloud computing throughout this presentation. Ultimately, the interoperability puzzle is about creating a modular architecture that can grow as more chains come online. Polymer wants to lean into the growing network effects of L2s, so we can collectively reduce time to market, and build the foundation for many chains to thrive in an interconnected world. Can IBC Become The Interoperability Standard For L2s? With Polymer

For our final chain abstraction focused podcast in NYC, we are talking about IBC. IBC is well known as the interoperability standard for the Cosmos ecosystem. Its by far the most lindy interoperability protocol, which explains Bo's "infatuation" with IBC as a whole. Polymer has been working on interoperability since 2021, and their journey has evolved to bring them into the Ethereum rollup landscape. Initially, Polymer explored Z solutions for verifying cross-chain transactions, but by early 2022, they narrowed focus towards L2 to L2 markets. This shift away from ZK wasn't about abandoning the technology entirely—it was about focusing on what would solve real, immediate problems for app developers and protocols. We had a really good chat with Bo about the vision, the path thus far, and where they are headed. One of the key pain points Polymer is addressing is the long latency between L2s, particularly when waiting for Ethereum's finality, which can take 12–16 minutes. This lag can be costly, both in time and in fees, as solvers charge users to take on the settlement risk. With their testnet live since March 2024 and mainnet just around the corner, Polymer is positioned to bring IBC to Ethereum and the modular ecosystem sooner than later. Today's episode will dive deep into how Polymer's approach to cross-chain communication is evolving and what it means for the future of app-specific rollups in the crypto ecosystem. Enjoy.
