Ep 060: One thing that we hear all the time from our clients – “You know what? I could write a book!” And we will add, our clients are great storytellers! They've lived many interesting lives and can weave their experiences into story ideas that are very compelling. BUT many of us have never written before! Where would we start? What are some things that novice writers do that get us stuck? What things SHOULD we know before we go down this road? Well, that's the premise for this show..."HOW TO WRITE YOUR BOOK AND GET PUBLISHED!" Our next guest is an award-winning investigative journalist and novelist, he is the author of 21 books and more than 4,000 articles. He is also the co-founder of Sixty Degrees Publishing. Our guest enjoys sharing his passion for telling stories about the sometimes inspirational, sometimes illegal, but always compelling things that people do. His newest novel, GODS OF OUR TIME: A Paris Love Story, recently won the Best International Novel of the Year award from the Book Publicists of South California. He has written for the L.A. Times, N.Y. Times, and Reader's Digest, and he and he has been featured on CBS, NBC, ABC, 20/20, the Oxygen Channel, HBO, and more than 150 radio stations nationwide. He has worked as a freelance writer and editor for several years and now serves as CEO of Sixty Degrees Publishing, which offers an author-friendly environment 'where art and literature meet'.  He loves working with authors to help them write, publish, and promote their work. R.L. (Rick) Hann – Bellingham, Washington BIO/Background for Intro Began his writing career in 2015 after retiring from more than 35 years of working in the Southern California Aerospace Industry – Received a NASA Medal of Service from JPL in Pasadena Honored with the Irwin Award for Best Mystery of the Year from the Book Publicists of Southern California “Grew up” working for a major commercial aircraft manufacturer – started at age 19, delivering mail Focused his career on developing “Improvement Programs,” working closely with top-level executive teams of three separate major Aerospace Corporations over twenty-five years...eventually became an expert at “Bad Management” after years of training managers, and developed a great deal of empathy for employees striving to succeed, often in spite of their managers Great challenges working with executives who provided the basis for "Executive Malice" Storyline "EXECUTIVE MALICE" is the story of Teri Harlan, a successful Director working for Aerosystems in Seattle, who accepts an offer to rejoin her former company in Southern California as a VP. Upon arrival, she soon discovers the company she once loved has become infested with self-indulged senior executives and bizarre business practices. Being a natural problem solver, Teri jumps into the fray, hoping to fix what was once great. But when she unravels a dark corporate conspiracy, she’s assailed by the company’s malicious Executive VP, ending up in mortal peril, and facing a shattering confrontation with her past. Hot Topics – Most all of us have bosses, and with them comes a host of very real challenges – just trying to survive in the “Corporate Jungle.” The Me-Too movement was alive and well in the 80s and 90s as well as today Bad behavior of many managers often goes on unchecked It’s amazing that large companies remain in business, given the competence and behavior of most managers and many senior executives Management training doesn’t work, nor do major corporate improvement programs Manipulation and dishonesty is unfortunately too often the basis for both promotion and decision making

A nice digestible read that you can finish on a bus ride. You can read it while sitting on the porch before dusk or just before you go to bed. We all love short stories. The more twisted and unusual they are the better. Naomi Brett Rourke has been described as a twilight zone type writer. Irony, reality, creepiness all factors into who Naomi is as a writer. Her short story "Coyote," is the recipient of the best short story award from the Book Publicists of Southern California. It is featured in the anthology series "Straight Outta Tombstone." Plus, Naomi has been featured in so many other anthologies and magazines, journals, online publications. This woman is all over the place.  Naomi also has a forthcoming novel in the works and much more. Naomi is a teacher, a theatre director and she survived a stroke that left her forced to learn how to speak all over again. She is an inspiration
