CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER CONTENT WARNING: Discussion of manipulation, murder, insurance fraud, jealousy, death. Our director series continues this week with a film steeped in Hollywood lore while being utterly disdainful of its treatment of actors. It's a near masterpiece, but as we talk through it, it's Billy Wilder's directing that shines a bit more than his writing. Still, even the last 5 minutes of this film are enough to etch it as an instant classic, and the first two hours are pretty great as well. Equal parts dark comedy, thriller, and anti-romance, this movie defies description and style at numerous turns, and garnered 11 Oscar nominations in a year that is one of the best movies have ever seen. Open the gates for an undeniable star as we continue our Billy Wilder series with 1950's Sunset Blvd., this week on Macintosh & Maud Haven't Seen What?! CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER CONTENT WARNING: Discussion of manipulation, murder, insurance fraud, jealousy, death. It's time again for a new series, and this season we're jumping in to the world of Billy Wilder, a Hollywood legend well ahead of his time. And we're starting off with one of his earliest masterworks, a film noir with a flair for the melodramatic in the best way. Hollywood had already seen its fair share of hard-boiled detectives, but what about an insurance salesman led down a winding road of passion and murder? Wilder and co-writer Raymond Chandler (yeah, that Raymond Chandler) bring dark humor, snappy dialogue, and a perfect crime, and Billy adds his fair share of masterful shots. To top it all off, there's incredibly good performances from stars playing against type in the best way, and it all leads to one heck of a ride. Double check your insurance policy as we kick off our Billy Wilder Director Series with 1944's Double Indemnity, this week on Macintosh & Maud Haven't Seen What?! We're wrapping up our 90's series with a bang of a whimper that, being a teen sex drama, Maud had definitely seen and Macintosh had not. And do we wish we had not, because this is an outright terrible movie. Influence notwithstanding, this is the epitome of shock for shock's sake, and making a literary classic into utter garbage. It's hard to find any redemption in this movie, other than a supremely talented cast that somehow barely overcomes a terrible script and even worse directing to at least give the semblance of a movie. In this episode, Ted Stryker welcomes The Interrupters to the Tuna on Toast podcast studio.  This pod is filled with all kinds of emotions, it's a fun rollercoaster!  The awesome Aimee, Kevin, Justin and Jesse drop their new album Raised by Wolves on August 5th. Raised by Wolves was produced by Kevin Bivona and recorded in the homemade studio Justin and Jesse Bivona built during the pandemic.  Aimee reveals that this is by far the most personal album she has ever written, totally autobiographical.  Aimee opens up to Stryker about her lifelong battle with depression and how the biggest thing that changed her life while making the full length album is the treatment she did called TMS.   Since the treatment....as Aimee says, life has been better in all ways! Kevin tells Stryker the story about auditioning for The Transplants when he was 18 years old and getting the gig as the keyboard player! This job with Tim Armstrong, Travis Barker and Skinhead Rob paved the way to playing the Warped Tour and forming a strong relationship with Tim, Travis and many other musicians.  The three Bivona brothers tell Stryker about the band they formed in 2009 called The Telecasters... and going on tour with Sugar Ray, Dirty Heads and Aimee as a solo artist!  Jesse and Justin were only 20 years old on this tour!  In 2010 Jesse and Justin started to tech for Sugar Ray, setting up all the gear at every show...working their butts off!  Justin and Jesse were then asked to actually join Sugar Ray by Mark McGrath (as they ate at Jerry's Deli on Ventura!) Aimme Interrupter tells Stryker how she ventured to Los Angeles from Montana at 18 years old.  Aimee would walk on Sunset Blvd. hoping to find musicians who played punk rock.  She did meet a band called No Motive which led to Aimee meeting Randy Jackson.   Randy shopped her music around and eventually got her a solo deal with Elektra Records....Aimiee worked with Mark Ronson on her album which got shelved.  Not too often mentioned....Aimee tells Stryker that it was love at first sight with Kevin (they are married). Please find The Interrupters on tour wherever you may live.  These four talented humans are also some of the nicest and most gracious people you'll find.   Thank you to the band, and thank you to YOU for checking out another episode of Tuna on Toast with Stryker.

Kate Wolf and Eric Newman are joined by the historian and MacArthur Fellow Natalia Molina to discuss her most recent book, A Place at the Nayarit: How a Mexican Restaurant Nourished A Community. The book follows Molina's maternal grandmother, Doña Natalia Barraza, who immigrated to Los Angeles from Mexico in the 1920s and went on to open a series of restaurants. The most successful and longest lasting was the Nayarit, which opened on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park in 1951. The Nayarit served the ethnically diverse and historically progressive and queer neighborhood for over two decades. As Molina shows, it was a refuge for the city's Latinx community, many of whom were recent arrivals in the United States. At the Nayarit they “could come together for labor, leisure, and access to a ready-made social network,” and this act alone would shape the face of Los Angeles for years to come. Also, Orressa Moshfegh, author of Lapvona returns to recommend Dr. Mike Bechtle's The People Pleaser's Guide to Loving Others without Losing Yourself.

Wilder has directed and co-written some of the world's most iconic films -including Double Indemnity, Sunset Blvd, Some Like It Hot, and The Apartment. Billy Wilder earned acclaim as American cinema's greatest social satirist. Though a fixture in Hollywood, Wilder always saw himself as an outsider. His worldview was shaped by his background in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and his work as a journalist in Berlin during Hitler's rise to power, and his perspective as a Jewish refugee from Nazism lent his films a sense of the peril that could engulf any society.Tune in as Joseph Mcbride offers new ways to understand Wilder's work, from start to finish. -Highlights include Ernst Lubitsch, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, William Holden, and so much more. God lytting!

Hi to Everyone, my friends, fans, and followers. I am your host, "Linda Gaye Scott". I hope You had a Wonderful Holiday Season, and "Welcome to 2022". I believe this New Year can bring many exciting opportunities into ALL of our lives. So, be on a staunch Lookout !!! **This "3rd episode" is an emotional one for me. So, let's stay together, hang on and travel with me on this Very Bumpy Road, Indeed. Whoa “WELCOME”. !!! Previously, on my 2nd Episode, I talked about why I was on the Cover of Jan and Dean Take LINDA Surfin, Jan mooning me on Sunset Blvd, Easter Vacation on Palm Cnyn Dr. in Palm Springs. Finishing school in Switzerland, AND Losing my Virginity,...In this, my 3rd Episode, I skip forward 10 years, and talk about Westworld written and directed by Dr. Michael Crichton and some of this Episode is about Michael and me. Hence the name “Westworld, Crichton and Me” !….One afternoon, I had just finished my jog, was totally out of breath, when my friend Jim Brolin was driving by and stopped to say Hi as he and his wife Jane were neighbors. We chatted for a minute or two and he asked me to come by for a glass of wine. I took a quick shower, got dressed and stopped by their place. We all talked a bit and shortly after he mentioned there might or could be a part in an upcoming film at MGM & of course, my ears perked as I was very interested. Within a couple of days I had an appointment at MGM studios, where I had an interview for a role in an upcoming movie called "WESTWORLD" with Michael Crichton as Director. Who? I didn't know this director, never heard of him but anything can happen in Hollywood's film industry so I thought, it's MGM, a highly respected and well known studio, been around for decades and who, by the way, am I to question this opportunity!!! I entered the MGM lot and was ushered into a building with long corridors and many doors. Next I was led into an office where I was introduced to a very tall gentleman. At first I was taken aback by his height which seemed to be at least 6'7" and soon after learned he was 6'9". He was youngish, about 30 but quite attractive. I was delighted as he immediately put me at ease with his warm demeanor and Big Smile.. With that comfort level I was able to express my thoughts with great ease and enthusiasm. The amazing thing was ... I felt as if I'd known him for some time. Now, I assume almost everyone who is listening to this has had a familiar feeling about someone they've just met at one time or another, but on an interview well, I must say, it was unusual for me. I think you might say "we clicked & Boom, there was definitely Chemistry". As Michael put on his glasses, his eyes seemed to stare at me, almost through me which was rather strange, as if he'd known me for ages.Truly, it was almost an out of body experience (which I'd never had), but I was on an interview for an acting role and simply had to be professional and contain myself. After all, I had met him only minutes earlier. Then, a calmness took over and things returned to normal, my interview was over and as I said my good-byes I actually felt relieved in a way...Next thing I knew, I was contacted and told I had been accepted for the part of Arlette in Westworld. Well, Well, of course, I was delighted and very excited to learn I would be working with Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin & Jim Brolin. I vividly recall how thrilled I was. Oh, I couldn't wait and was very excited to tell my mom and especially that Jim Brolin was responsible for me having the interview in the first place. (*The well known actor Josh Brolin is Jim's son and of course the beautiful Award Winning Actress Barbra Streisand is Jim's wife.)As you know, I have acted in many TV shows and films, & am familiar with what goes on & how movie sets work, etc., As you know, I have acted in many TV shows and films.

It's a theme a lot of women have so Mom and daughters dissect the topic and end up discussing exactly how many people do you need in your life to see you.  The Newbies continue to admire Michelle for recognizing what SHE needs and stating her needs clearly. But they also question if the Michelle's "person" is even in this group of boy-men.  Or at least Leane thinks that. Thanks for listening! Rate and review us!
