I need to get one thing out of the way: Elyse is the self-described president of the Slow Turtle Club™. If I were to give her a title, it'd be president of the Really-Cool Canadian Copywriters Club™. In all seriousness, if you've ever felt like everyone else is speeding ahead while you're still like, “where do I even start?!” then, Elyse is going to be your new favorite person. (And let's be real: who hasn't felt that way?????) Elyse was generous enough to share her full story (and some bada*s advice) with Kate and I on this week's episode of the Build Your Copywriting Business podcast. She shares how she took her time to learn and build a copywriting career that fits her life and NOT the other way around. Elyse's story is proof that success doesn't have to be fast to be fulfilling. Sometimes the “slow path” is the most sustainable one of all. So, back to that “slow turtle” title… … it's can be smart to move slowly and with intention. We're asking Elyse for an invite to the club. Who's with us?

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases TO PUT TOGETHER and TO PULL YOURSELF TOGETHERIn this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase to put together. When you put something together, it means there are pieces. And then you attach all the pieces together with glue or screws or nails or something like that.If you're wondering what the noise is, Jen's driving by in her gator, which kind of cracks me up because one of the last comments was that there was too much noise when I make these videos in town and some, someone wanted me to do them on the peaceful farm. And I thought I should do that. But, then there was still some traffic, wasn't there?WANT FREE ENGLISH LESSONS? GO TO YOUTUBE AND SEARCH, "BOB THE CANADIAN"If you enjoy these lessons please consider supporting me at: http://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadianAnyways, when you go to Ikea and you buy a bed, it comes in a box and then you need to put it together. When you get home, you need to use the tools and the screws that they give you. Or maybe you need to get your own screwdriver and you take all the pieces. And when you're done, after you put the bed together, you have a, bed. So when you put something together, it's in pieces and then when it's done, it's whole. The other phrase I wanted to teach you today is to pull yourself together. I might have taught this one before. All of a sudden I just thought, maybe I have, but I'll teach it again. Anyways, if you are emotional, if you are sad or upset or crying, you might need to pull yourself together. Let's say you're at a wedding and it's beautiful and maybe someone you know is getting married and you're, you're just crying a little bit, but they're tears of joy. And then you have to go up and give a speech. You need to pull yourself together before you go up and give the speech. You need to get control of your emotions. You need to calm down.So to review, to put together, to put something together means, oh, here's another good example. If you ever played with Lego, you get a Lego set. And then you need to put together all the pieces to build what you are building. And to pull yourself together simply means to calm yourself down when you're in an emotional state. When you're in a heightened emotional state. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from ksenom. I never get up on the wrong side of the bed. There's a concrete wall. What's the difference between make the bed and assemble the bed? Dandelions grow here in Finland too. However, this spring, the night temperatures have been unusually low, so the flowers haven't appeared. Yet. And my response, when you buy a bed from a store, you assemble it. You do this once, you put it together. When you make the bed, you tidy up the blankets. So thanks ksenom. for that comment. And hopefully you understood the difference. When you use the verb to make the bed, it's to put all the blankets flat. But if you were to get wood and cut the wood and like, not assemble it, like you are literally going to build it, we could use the verb make as well. But generally, 99% of the time when you make the bed, it means you're putting the blankets on nicely.Today I wanted to talk about shade. The shade has returned on my farm, on my property. One of the problems with making videos in town is that you don't get to see all of the changes here on the farm property. So you can see that hopefully I'm not rotating you too quickly. You can see that shade has returned. I'm standing in the shade of this tree and it is beautiful. And hopefully, cross my fingers, the weather is beautiful on the first Saturday of June. And I can sit here. You'll recognize the view in a moment. I can sit here and do my lSupport the show

Post-Dispatch podcasts page: https://go.stltoday.com/0hfn43 Please consider subscribing: https://go.stltoday.com/9aigz5 Welcome to a brand-new Best Podcast in Baseball. St. Louis Post-Dispatch baseball writer and host Derrick Goold is joined this week by colleague, sports columnist, and instant offense Jeff Gordon. They discuss the Cardinals’ “relentless bunch” – their league-leading on-base machine lineup and their leader, hitting coach Brant Brown. There’s even a quiz on his catchphrases. The two writers look at the Cardinals shift to a six-man rotation for the coming week. And then they dive into the numbers on attendance in the early series of the season, ticket sales, and whether the dip in attendance reflects exactly the drop in payroll. Will the assertive start by the lineup and this team’s style of play be enough to bring fans to Busch Stadium, or Goold asks, is there something else afoot hear? The Cardinals have advertised a “transition” year, so is coming to the ballpark early in the season less fun because the team is more likely to change? Being there to watch a team in April that will be dismantled by August can be a hard sell. The Best Podcast in Baseball, sponsored by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a weekly production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and Derrick Goold.
When you follow the footsteps of the great sages, you say, "Only Kṛṣṇa. All for Kṛṣṇa. I'm all in for Kṛṣṇa. I'm all out for the idea that I'm going to be happy in the material world. That's it—finished, done, no más, out." Then you're eligible for the same result as the greatest of sages: kalpante yennu tāṁ iha—means you get what they got, because you're following their footsteps. Even if you feel feeble in your attempt, you will attain the highest perfection. So if you take this attitude that "Kṛṣṇa, I'm Yours, there's nothing else but You," then you'll never make an offense, also never feel entitled. Entitlement is a dangerous attitude. If you feel it creeping in, then go somewhere and get some remedial measure to overcome entitlement, because it can creep in and you might not even know that you have it. If somebody notices it in you and mentions that you seem entitled, like you feel entitled, then be afraid. What should you be? Actually, I'm going to modify that. Be very afraid. Be afraid of entitlement and feel that "I'm not entitled to anything," and you may notice that it's natural. Your senses feel entitled. Have you ever noticed that if you see a cupcake, your tongue may say, "That's for me. That's mine." And you can say, "No, that's not your cupcake. That's Kṛṣṇa's cupcake." First, you offer it to Kṛṣṇa, then you can have a little bit. Don't be entitled, and be sincere. Just be sincere. Don't think you have to perform a trick. This is not a circus act. It is not something to show that "I'm something" or "somebody." We have nothing except our own sincerity. Just come down to that essence. Bottle it, if you can find it inside, you put it in a little bottle, and every day, take a little drop of that, and remember you just need sincerity. Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā: 'teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te' (BG 10.10) He's there for us just as long as we're sincere, and He knows what our heart is. And if we're sincere, don't try to have pretense—a pretense that "I'm more than I am." You don't have to do that. It's not important. Nobody cares anyway. Everyone is concerned with their own stature and how they look. And everyone looked in the mirror this morning at one time or another and thought, you know, "How am I going to come off in the world?" You don't have to worry about that, except for as a record of being a representative of Kṛṣṇa, but for ourselves, we can remain akiñcana. Queen Kunti says, don't get caught up with the designations of wealth or beauty or intelligence. Don't try to perform like a circus animal. Just be a sincere devotee of Kṛṣṇa. And don't even try to be a great devotee. Just try to be a good devotee. And if we just try to be good and put together one lifetime of dedication to Kṛṣṇa—just one lifetime—that's it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark

Every time we talk with Comprehensive Copywriting Academy students, Kate and I leave feeling inspired. That's exactly what it was like talking to Alicia. From a young age, Alicia knew she wanted to help people. It's what got her into social work. But, like many of those in the social work field, Alicia faced extreme burnout. On this episode of the Build Your Copywriting Business podcast, Alicia is sharing her story, including how she transitioned from social work to copywriting, how her social work skills lend themselves to copywriting, and how she pushed past self-imposed roadblocks. Hint: it's OK to take messy action—as long as you're taking action! Alicia is proving that some careers don't have to be full-time careers. Sometimes, you can put together a full-time career out of two part-time careers. So, I'd encourage you to listen to this episode for a little inspiration.
