What the Faithful 5K Proved: It's Time for the Body of Christ to Get in Shape“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus…” — Hebrews 12:1–2The inaugural Faithful 5K is over—but I don't think what happened in Greenbrier was really about running 3.1 miles. We had 165 people register, families running together, churches serving side by side, businesses investing in their community, volunteers pouring themselves out, and virtual racers participating across seven different states. And underneath all of it was something deeper:God is doing something in His Church that has to do with the body—both our physical bodies and the Body of Christ. In this episode, I'm taking a short break from the Menopause in the Light series to reflect on what the Faithful 5K taught me about fitness, faith, community, endurance, and why I believe it's time for the Bride of Christ to get in better shape. We'll talk about:Why people are hungry for something deeper than sets, reps, macros, and aestheticsWhat happened when multiple churches and Christian organizations chose to serve together without needing their own name at the centerWhy the Faithful Cross became one of the most meaningful parts of the morningWhat it means to recognize your body as something through which you live your callingWhy Christian fitness was never supposed to be an isolated pursuitThe unexpected power of an out-and-back race where runners continually encouraged one anotherWhy your body does not have to be impressive to glorify GodWhat this event reminded me about the mission of Faithful FitnessAnd I'll tell you about Mr. Roy.When we first started working together more than five years ago, Roy had battled heart disease, multiple surgeries, pain, and a body that made something as simple as walking my driveway difficult.Saturday, he finished a 5K.He finished last. He refused rides. Men went back onto the course to walk beside him. Police stayed with him. His family waited. Racers who had finished long before stayed at the finish line because they wanted to see him cross it.And when someone asked how he was able to keep going, his answer was basically:Get a good coach. Walk with God. And be stubborn enough not to stop. That'll preach.Because Hebrews doesn't tell us, “Let me run with endurance.” It says:“Let us run with endurance.”Maybe you're crushing it right now.Turn around and encourage somebody behind you. Maybe you're struggling. Keep going. But either way, stop trying to do this fitness thing alone. Your Next Faithful Step -If you want to get honest about where you are and identify your next step, take the Faithful Fitness Assessment. https://faithfulfitness.co/assessmentYou'll assess yourself across the four areas we use in Faithful Fitness:Integrity. Grit. Growth. Awe.The goal isn't a perfect score. It's clarity. And completing the assessment will also reserve your place for our upcoming LIVE Faithful Fitness seminar on September 2nd, where we'll continue this conversation together.Take the Faithful Fitness Assessment and find your next faithful step. Make the most of the body God's given you.Train Hard. Deonte Banks may have fought his way back into the Giants' starting cornerback picture, but that comeback creates a much harder decision in a secondary already dealing with injuries and depth churn. Greenbrier also boosted several rookies and receivers while exposing a real concern at center.Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate. The Big Question: Did Deonte Banks really play his way back into a starting job? The camp evidence has become difficult to ignore, but Greg Newsome II, Paulson Adebo and rookie Colton Hood make the Giants' outside-corner competition anything but settled.John Harbaugh says the Giants “improved tremendously” during their time at The Greenbrier, and Drew and Rob start by asking how much of that should actually be believed before the games count. One encouraging sign came when the first-team offense pushed Harbaugh for one more goal-line snap and Jaxson Dart finished the drive with a touchdown to Darius Slayton.Dart's Year 2 development remains one of the biggest questions surrounding this team. Calvin Austin III praised his swagger and composure, while Drew argues that Dart already looks capable of filling the leadership void the Giants have had for years. Whether that also means he is a true franchise quarterback remains unanswered. The rookie class took up a major part of the conversation. Arvell Reese continues showing why the Giants used the No. 5 pick on him, Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa has held the starting right-guard work, Jack Kelly has strengthened his roster case and Colton Hood remains firmly involved in the cornerback competition. Malachi Fields produced one of the best debates of the episode because camp observers have come away with different evaluations of how close he really is to challenging for a major receiver role. The Giants' receiver numbers are becoming increasingly difficult. Malik Nabers is progressing toward his return, Darnell Mooney has drawn strong reviews, Jalin Hyatt has improved his standing and Odell Beckham Jr. has looked healthy. The problem is simple: there are more interesting receivers than available roster spots. Then the conversation shifts heavily toward the defense. Harbaugh called Abdul Carter's camp “really, really great,” Greg Newsome II appears to have avoided a serious injury, and Banks continues receiving legitimate first-team opportunities. Drew and Rob revisit their previous criticism of Banks and debate whether better coaching has helped revive a former first-round pick who appeared to be running out of chances. How comfortable should Giants fans really be with the secondary? Dru Phillips is dealing with a knee injury, the Giants have cycled through additional defensive backs, and the depth behind the top group remains unsettled.Center brings a different problem. John Michael Schmitz is dealing with a concussion, Lucas Patrick has a knee issue, Bryan Hudson has taken first-team snaps and Brenden Jaimes was signed for additional depth. The Giants leave Greenbrier with more optimism at several positions, but center may actually be less settled than it was when camp started. The episode also runs through the biggest Greenbrier risers and fallers, Washington losing Laremy Tunsil after adding Stefon Diggs, the Giants returning to their construction-heavy New Jersey facility, and a remembrance of former Giants offensive line coach Fred Hoaglin.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/ Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballs All episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

Bob Papa reporting from Giants training camp and Carl Banks, who just left Greenbrier, go through what they have seen this week. The biggest thing is that under John Harbaugh, practices are faster, more detailed, and far more situational. They believe the Giants are building discipline, conditioning, and accountability that should translate directly to Sundays, with players like Deonte Banks and Arvell Reese emerging as early standouts while Jaxson Dart continues to progress within a physical, run-oriented offense. Abdul Carter's dominant second practice gave the Giants another potential difference-maker, but it also raised questions about an offense that struggled once the defense increased the pressure.Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate. Is Abdul Carter already becoming the breakout star of Giants training camp? His performance against Andrew Thomas is a legitimate early signal, but two unpadded practices are not enough to declare the transformation complete.Drew and Rob cut through the usual training-camp hype and examine what actually happened during the Giants' first two practices at The Greenbrier.Day 1 produced the stronger offensive performance. Jaxson Dart completed plenty of throws while adjusting to more work from under center, different footwork and new pocket landmarks. The operation looked encouraging, but several risky passes could have become interceptions if the defense had finished its opportunities.Braxton Berrios became the surprise standout of the opening practice with five reported catches during team periods, including a long touchdown from Jameis Winston. Malachi Fields continued making contested catches, Chris Manhertz contributed more as a receiver than expected and Darius Slayton appeared to be moving well following offseason surgery.Malik Nabers completed controlled individual work on consecutive days. His ability to run, cut and plant without an obvious setback is encouraging, but the Giants have not yet returned him to unrestricted competitive team periods.Day 2 belonged to the defense. Carter repeatedly reached the backfield while working against Thomas, produced multiple would-be sacks and deflected a screen. The matchup becomes more meaningful because Carter was creating problems for the Giants' best offensive lineman—not simply beating a reserve.Kayvon Thibodeaux also answered the pressure surrounding the Giants' crowded edge-rusher room. After batting down a pass during the opening practice, he intercepted Winston and returned it for a touchdown on Day 2.The episode also covers Cam Skattebo's healthy return to team drills, the developing competition with Tyrone Tracy Jr., Tae Banks' early pass breakups and the kicking battle between Ben Sauls and Dominic Zvada. The first two practices did not settle any depth-chart decisions, but they gave Giants fans several real developments to follow once the pads come on.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/ Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballs All episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

John Harbaugh is bringing a sharper standard to Giants training camp, but demanding better execution only matters if the roster can stay healthy, finish games and overcome several unresolved weaknesses.Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate.Has John Harbaugh already changed the Giants' standard? The expectations sound different, but the real test is whether that urgency produces better execution and more wins once the games begin.Harbaugh made the strongest statement of the Giants' opening day at The Greenbrier when he said the team was not there simply to practice. Every drill, play call and practice period is supposed to prepare the Giants for the games they need to win. He praised the team's focus, Jaxson Dart's command of the offense and the work Malik Nabers has put into his recovery. However, Nabers remains on a gradual plan, and Harbaugh would not place a firm timeline on his return to full practices. Joe Schoen also acknowledged that Dart must learn another offense in his second season, even though continuity would have been preferable. We discuss whether Harbaugh's experienced offensive staff can reduce that developmental cost and help Dart build on his rookie year. Can the Giants replace Dexter Lawrence by committee?Schoen admitted the timing of the Lawrence trade limited the available options because the main free-agent market had already passed. D.J. Reader, Shelby Harris, Darius Alexander and the inside linebackers will collectively be asked to replace his impact. Schoen also stopped well short of declaring the run defense fixed, answering that the Giants will have to see whether the new personnel and emphasis actually work. The roster remains unsettled. Schoen said the Giants will continue exploring trades, waiver claims and available veterans, with cornerback and wide receiver among the most important camp competitions.Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios are fighting for roles in a crowded receiver room. Schoen said Beckham can still get open and catch the football, while Harbaugh thought he looked good during the opening practice. None of the veteran receivers have been handed a roster spot.We also discuss Schoen describing his job as year to year despite receiving an extension, Cam Skattebo's backflip and the warning that followed, Kayvon Thibodeaux's importance to the defense, and the challenge of running a physical camp without losing irreplaceable players. The Giants are talking about execution, competition and finishing games. Now they have to prove that “no excuses” is more than a training-camp slogan.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/ Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballs All episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

The Giants can use six legitimate training-camp competitions to strengthen the depth chart, but the cost is that several established players could lose jobs or major snaps before Week 1. Drew and Rob examine the pressure at running back, WR2, left guard, CB2, slot defender and kicker as camp begins at The Greenbrier.Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate.Which Giants starter is most vulnerable entering camp? The strongest immediate pressure falls on the CB2 group, where Colton Hood could push past Greg Newsome II and Deonte Banks, while Jon Runyan Jr. faces a legitimate challenge from Daniel Faalele at left guard.Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. may be competing for the top spot on the depth chart, but the larger question is how John Harbaugh divides the workload. Skattebo's physical running style could make him the early favorite, while Tracy gives the Giants a different weapon depending on the matchup.Darnell Mooney enters as the favorite for WR2, but Darius Slayton and rookie Malachi Fields still create an interesting role debate. Mooney offers proven production and speed, Slayton remains a reliable vertical threat, and Fields could earn snaps as a larger slot receiver and blocker. Drew also explains why this could become Slayton's final season with the Giants.Runyan is finally entering camp with real pressure behind him. Faalele produced comparable numbers last season, carries a much smaller cap charge and already has experience playing for Harbaugh. The competition could either produce the best version of Runyan or convince the Giants that Faalele can provide similar production for less money.CB2 creates the boldest prediction of the episode. Drew expects Hood to win the job immediately, while Rob believes the rookie will eventually take it during the season. Newsome provides a veteran floor, but Banks enters a now-or-never camp after two disappointing seasons and questions about his effort and consistency.Ar'Darius Washington could also create pressure inside if he stays healthy. His strong 2024 performance with Baltimore gives the Giants another versatile defensive back who can challenge Dru Phillips and compete for snaps at multiple positions. At kicker, Dominic Zvada is the clear favorite unless he struggles during camp. Ben Sauls was perfect during his brief opportunity last season, but concerns about his kickoff ability and long-range leg could give Zvada the advantage. The Giants could also use punter Jordan Stout on kickoffs if Sauls proves to be the more dependable field-goal option.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/ Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballs All episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

In this episode, we kick things off by examining a massive criminal indictment that reveals the scope of organized freight fraud across the United States. Federal prosecutors have charged eight individuals in an alleged international conspiracy that stole at least ten million dollars in cargo over a three-year period, targeting everything from electronics and liquor to meat and cryptocurrency mining machines. The criminal organization allegedly impersonated legitimate carriers to obtain transportation contracts, then diverted freight and removed tracking devices before selling the stolen goods. Meanwhile, the industry is fighting back against this pervasive fraud threat with powerful new technology tools. We explore how AscendTMS has integrated SearchCarriers into its carrier verification platform, giving freight brokers and shippers access to real-time carrier and broker data at no additional cost. This collaboration is designed to help transportation providers combat freight fraud, double brokering, identity theft and unsafe carrier selection while simplifying due diligence across over sixty-nine thousand companies worldwide. Finally, we shift over to the rails to discuss the challenges facing major equipment manufacturers in a tough market environment. Railcar maker Greenbrier reported weaker second-quarter earnings as lower railcar deliveries weighed on revenue, with earnings per share coming in at just forty-seven cents versus eighty-nine cents in analyst estimates. Despite serious margin pressure, management raised the quarterly dividend by six percent and updated full-year guidance upward, signaling continued confidence in cash generation. The Greenbrier Ghost is one of the strangest true crime cases in American history: a West Virginia murder trial where testimony about a ghost helped expose the truth. In 1897, Elva Zona Heaster Shue was found dead in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Her husband, Erasmus Stribbling “Trout” Shue, quickly took control of her body, covered her neck, and helped rush her toward burial before a complete medical examination could be performed. At first, Zona's death was treated as natural. Then her mother, Mary Jane Heaster, claimed Zona returned from the grave.According to Mary, her daughter appeared to her over four nights and revealed that Trout had broken her neck. When authorities exhumed Zona's body, doctors found a broken neck, a crushed windpipe, and evidence of violent death. What had been buried as a tragic natural death became a murder investigation. This episode of Terrifying & True examines the real Greenbrier Ghost case, the murder of Zona Heaster Shue, the 1897 trial of E. S. Shue, the role of ghost testimony in court, the exhumation that changed everything, and the mystery of whether Mary Jane Heaster saw a spirit, had a vision, followed intuition, or used folklore to force justice. Was the Greenbrier Ghost truly a voice from beyond the grave? Or was this the story of a grieving mother who refused to let her daughter's murder stay buried? We're telling that story tonight.
