Coach Antonio Anderson, head coach at The Darrow School, has one of those basketball resumes that instantly earns your attention. He won a state title in Lynn, re did his junior year at Maine Central Institute, then transferred to Laurinburg Prep after committing to Memphis. At Memphis, he scored over 1,000 points and is one of only two Tigers to record a triple double, alongside Penny Hardaway. He also played professionally, including time around Kevin Durant and James Harden, and now he is building Darrow from the ground up. In this episode, Antonio gets real about what “development” actually means at a boarding school, what he looks for when recruiting, how playing time is earned, and how he attacks college placement by emailing coaches across every level. If you are a parent trying to find the right prep fit, or a guard who wants to play college basketball, this conversation gives you clear standards, not hype.

coach is joined by reporter Charles Davis to discuss the evolving landscape of college athletics, specifically focusing on the Big Ten's "24-team compromise" playoff proposal and the legal complexities of student-athlete eligibility. The proposal outlines a shift toward a 24-team field by 2029, which would eliminate conference championship games—labeled as "artificial"—and introduce an additional weekend of on-campus playoff games to reward the top 16 seeds. They also examine the significant revenue implications, noting that while the expansion could create 23 total playoff games and a "March Madness" atmosphere for football, it requires a solution for the financial loss conferences would face by removing their title games. The conversation then shifts to the recent legal battle involving Charles Bediako, a former Alabama basketball player whose attempt to return to college from the professional G League was recently blocked by a court ruling. Charles highlights the "havoc" created by the NCAA's inconsistent eligibility practices, noting that while over 100 players with professional experience have been granted eligibility, Bediako was denied a preliminary injunction because he had already forfeited his status to go pro. This case serves as a broader example of the ongoing discord within the NCAA, as leaders like President Charlie Baker call for congressional intervention to establish clear, stable frameworks for athlete eligibility in the era of NIL and the transfer portal.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Florida basketball put on an absolute show this week, and In All Kinds of Weather Forecast is back to break it all down.Neil Shulman and Adrian Perez start with Florida's 95–48 bludgeoning of South Carolina, a game that was over almost as soon as it began. The Gators overwhelmed the Gamecocks in every phase, turning the matchup into a one-sided demolition that showcased depth, effort, and offensive rhythm. From there, the conversation pivots to the biggest storyline of the week: Alabama's controversial G League transfer. After spending time in the NBA G League and failing to secure a real opportunity at the professional level, the former pro made the surprising — and highly debated — decision to return to college basketball. The move sparked widespread criticism, raising serious questions about amateurism, competitive balance, and how far college basketball has drifted from its original intent. The guys break down Charles Bediako's debut against Florida, where the hype failed to materialize. Against the Gators, he struggled to make an impact, looked overmatched, and did little to justify the buzz surrounding his return — especially in a game Florida completely controlled. That control was never more evident than in Florida's 100–77 win over Alabama, a statement victory in which the Gators dominated Nate Oats' squad from start to finish. Florida dictated pace, won the physical battles, and once again asserted itself as a nightmare matchup for Alabama. From “Carolina fried chicken” to the G League experiment falling flat, this episode dives into one of the most fascinating — and controversial — weeks of Florida basketball this season.

On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Dan Lust (@SportsLawLust) is joined by Mike Lawson (@Mikesonoflaw) and Landis Barber (@LandisBarber) to reunite for a Mike & Mike edition tackling the latest sports law stories of the week. The team opens with Darien Mensah's NIL lawsuit, dissecting the Duke quarterback's attempt to enter the transfer portal despite an existing NIL agreement, the university's emergency TRO seeking to block his departure, and the confusion surrounding what the court actually permitted. The discussion explores the enforceability of NIL contracts in a post-House settlement world, the growing use of injunctions to preserve the “status quo,” and whether courts are becoming the primary arbiters of roster movement in college sports.Next, the conversation shifts to the San Francisco 49ers' investigation into a nearby electrical substation and whether prolonged exposure to electromagnetic fields could be contributing to the team's unusually high rate of Achilles and soft-tissue injuries. Dan, Mike, and Landis talk causation versus coincidence, workplace safety obligations, and the legal significance of the 49ers publicly acknowledging an internal investigation. The episode then turns to the federal investigation into the death of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, with a breakdown of what it means for federal authorities to reopen scrutiny months later, the unusual circumstances surrounding the death certificate, and the legal challenges of determining causation without an autopsy. From there, the trio dives into the FTC's renewed enforcement of the Sports Agent Responsibility and Trust Act (SPARTA), after the agency sent letters to dozens of universities seeking information about athlete-agent relationships. The discussion focuses on why SPARTA has resurfaced now, how NIL has blurred traditional compliance lines, and whether federal oversight of agents could meaningfully reshape the college sports ecosystem. The episode wraps with Charles Bediako's NCAA eligibility battle, after the former Alabama center secured a TRO allowing him to play despite previously signing a two-way NBA contract. Dan and Landis analyze how courts are steadily eroding the NCAA's professional-amateur distinction, why the line between G League, overseas play, and NBA contracts has become nearly impossible to police, and what this case signals for future challenges by former professional athletes seeking a return to college sports.Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about? It is officially the offseason, unfortunately, but just because the confetti has been cleaned up does not mean the conversations about the CFP have stopped. In fact it is quite the opposite. The difference is these conversations are not about what is happening on the field. The debate continues to rage on as commissioners discuss potential expansion of the CFP. Andy Staples and Ross Dellenger discuss what happened in the meetings that were held in the week leading up to the National Championship. The Big Ten and the SEC seem to be at an impasse of how much they want the College Football Playoff to expand. With the deadline fast approaching, no decision appears in sight. Ross explains why these two commissioners hold all the power for this decision. Then, the guys shift from one hot button topic to the next. The transfer portal. Specifically one athlete. Darian Mensah. The Duke quarterback has officially entered the transfer portal even though he has a signed NIL contract with Duke. The Blue Devils are suing Mensah to prevent him from leaving. It is expected he will head to Miami to be their new quarterback. Andy and Ross discuss the differences between this situation and the one with Demond Williams and Washington. They share why it seems like Mensah has a good chance to win this case and how schools can prevent these situations in the future. Plus, they dive into Adidas' potential impact in this situation and their overall aggressive handling of NIL. Also, Duke wide receiver Cooper Barkate has entered the portal as well, with Miami being a favorite to land him too.Later, the big news in college athletics is no longer about football. It is over in the college basketball world as Charles Bediako has temporarily been granted the ability to return to Alabama basketball. There is a hearing next week that will determine whether or not he can return full-time. Bediako previously played at Alabama and entered the 2023 NBA Draft. Although he has never played in the NBA, he has played on multiple Summer League and G League teams. Andy and Ross discuss Bediako being allowed to play college basketball again and the impact this could have on college athletics.
