Boaz and Ruth want to marry each other, but Boaz has to make sure this is legally worked out with a different marriage prospect for Ruth! He picks the right time, and we too can know that God is choosing the right timing as He works on our behalf. Boaz takes full responsibility for handling this correctly. Is there going to be a cost? Yes! But there are also great benefits. This is true for us too. There are costs for us in following Jesus, but the benefits of redemption far outweigh those costs! Jesus wants relationship with us, He considers us worth redeeming, and He won't rest in His pursuit of His people! (Apologies for the mystery pulsing sound in the background of this week's recording!)

We are redeemed, and God has not forgotten us! Boaz's extreme generosity toward Ruth caused Naomi to take notice, and she realizes that Ruth has met one of their family redeemers. God has led Ruth right into His blessing, care, and provision. As Ruth discovers that Boaz is a kinsman redeemer for her, so too the Scriptures reveal Jesus as the Redeemer for all of us who will believe in Him. His blessing is oh-so-much more than monetary and not at all limited to our physical provision, though He cares about those things too; God also provides a deep spiritual provision for the soul. As the story continues, Ruth stays under the protection of Boaz according to his instruction, resulting in continued grace and favor for her and Naomi. When we stay near to God's people, working in His fields regularly, we can expect Him to bring a regular harvest in our lives that will bless not only us, but those around us too.

In the days leading up to Easter I was watching a weather forecast on television. When the extended forecast came up showing the weekend ahead, there was an icon of a bouncing bunny on Easter Sunday (better termed Resurrection Sunday). Nothing on Crucifixion Friday…not even a mention of Easter weekend. How sad and tragic that the most important event in the history of mankind—the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ—has been replaced with a counterfeit fairy tale (the Easter bunny and Easter eggs). For to not know about the person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross and His supernatural resurrection is to be left in the dark about the one way God offers to reconcile sinners to Himself.“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Tim. 2:5-6).This Easter weekend on The Christian Worldview, we will focus our minds and hearts on what God has revealed in His Word about His Son the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Redeemer and the Victor.

Genesis 3:1-15 & Luke 4
Our sin is an act of cosmic treason against God. Therefore, each sin requires a just retribution by God. To do anything else would make God unjust. Jesus, however, gives Himself in substitution for us. This is what is meant by penal substitution. Jesus took the penalty of our sins upon Himself, satisfying the justice of God. Pastor Chris Ansell of Restoration Community Church returns to the New City Catechism for this week's message. This is question 24 of the NCC: Q: Why was it necessary for Christ, the Redeemer, to die? A: Since death is the punishment for sin, Christ died willingly in our place to deliver us from the power and penalty of sin and bring us back to God. By his substitutionary atoning death he alone redeems us from hell and gains for us forgiveness of sin, righteousness, and everlasting life. For the Colossians, teachers had come into the young church and began to teach that Jesus was the beginning of your salvation but he cannot bring it to completion. Paul's intention in Colossians 1:15-20 is to challenge that directly and to show that Christ is supreme over all creation, over the Church, and he is sufficient to heal all that is broken. "For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth."Colossians 1:19-20 (NLT)"If Christ is the supreme Lord of all on whom all other heavenly powers depend, then he cannot require assistance from any of these dependent authorities in order to bring God to people and people to God. He is a sufficient Saviour because he is a supreme Lord."Dick Lucas | The Message of Colossians & PhilemonTo plug into our daily bible study, text "DLR" to 501-200-3122 and follow the link to sign up. Who is Jesus? What does it mean that he is the redeemer? Lord? Son of God? Eternal? How is Jesus the answer to the sin problem? Does Jesus still matter today? In this episode of The Podechesis Podcast, Brett, Jim, and Allen discuss question 21 of John Wesley's Revision of the Westminster Shorter Catechism: Who is the redeemer of God's elect (mankind). They discuss the divinity of Jesus, his humanity, and why it is important that he was more than a great teacher and moral figure from the past. The guys will also talk about some different heresies, church councils, and what the early church really thought of him. Along the way, Jim will make a wager, Allen will dream of shamrocks, and Brett will be craving a bowl of Lucky Charms by the end of the episode.
