Most of the students walking around campus at the University of Oregon have long known the football program as winners. A national powerhouse. Conference championships. Rose Bowls. It's all become the norm in Eugene. But that success didn't happen overnight. It was a long and winding road to becoming a college football destination spot. A road that points back to one man. Before Lanning and Helfrich…before Kelly and Bellotti…there was Rich Brooks. Brooks would bring success to the Ducks the team hadn't seen in over a century of playing football. Kevin Brooks has been the only head coach for the DII powerhouse Angelo State Rams since the program's resurrection in 2005. Under his guidance not once in their history have they finished below .500 as they have solidly churned out Lone Star Conference title after title after title. Their success has not been limited to conference championships either. Oh heck no, not by a long shot. Over two dozen Ram players have earned All-American accolades and they've reached the national finals five times including each of the past two years. Despite all the school's tremendous success, one accomplishment has so far eluded Brooks and San Angelo State – a national title. Could this finally be the Rams year? I don't know, maybe. They're pretty gosh darn good. One thing that I do know is Coach Brooks not only has a knack for coaching, but chatting has well and he makes for a great listen.

Deep down, you KNOW you have greatness inside. You KNOW you are destined for big things. BUT one or a couple of these things keep showing up... You don't know 'how' to unleash it. In your head you know what you want... But you keep self sabotaging and giving in to that 'voice' in your head. You keep researching and learning. Yet taking the action is STILL uncomfortable...So you go back to "learn more" to make the discomfort go away. More books... More podcasts... More courses... More events... More masterminds... More of whatever it is that distracts you and keeps you from taking action. But at this point, you 'know' a TON... But there is STILL this invisible force that keeps you from acting on it. You call it perfectionism, and when you get it 'perfect', THEN you will be ready! It has been years now, and still no action in sight. When not seeking 'knowledge' to 'know enough' to get started... Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach/Assistant Athletic Director For Trine University, Angola, IN Phone: (260) 665.4843 Email: millerb@trine.edu @TrineThunderMBB Miller joined the program in 2011 and has more than 17 years of collegiate basketball playing and coaching experience, including serving as a graduate assistant coach to Bob Knight at Texas Tech University, who ranks third on the all-time NCAA Division I wins list. Miller’s eight-year career as head coach at Trine University has included eight consecutive top-four MIAA finishes which culminated in the 2019 MIAA Regular-Season Championship. The 2019 MIAA Title was the first MIAA Championship in Trine history and marked the first outright MIAA Championship by a school other than Hope (Mich.) College or Calvin (Mich.) College since 2005. The team was led by senior Pete Smith who was named the MIAA’s "Most Valuable Player" as well as Marcus Winters who would earn the MIAA’s "Defensive Player of the Year" award. The 2018-19 team also set Trine’s D-III record for wins in a season with 19 victories The Thunder have posted an overall record of 124-86 under Miller’s guidance including a 68-44 mark against MIAA foes. In 2016, Trine advanced to the MIAA Tournament Championship game for the first time in school history after defeating No. 5 Hope on its home floor in the semifinal round. Miller also led Trine to its first-ever home game in the MIAA Semifinals in 2014-15 as the Thunder placed second in the conference. Miller's basketball career started when he was a player at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio and at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich. At Hillsdale in 2003, Miller was selected team captain, Academic All-Conference, and team "Defensive Player of the Year." Hillsdale reached the NCAA Division II National Tournament in back-to-back years for the first time in school history during Miller’s sophomore and junior season’s in 2001 and 2002. Miller worked as an assistant men's basketball coach for three Hall of Fame coaches that amassed seven National Championships throughout their careers. Miller began his collegiate coaching career working for BCAM Hall of Fame Coach Ed Douma (one National Championship) whom he previously played for at Hillsdale. In 2007, his career took him to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he served as a graduate assistant coach to Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Bob Knight (three National Championships) and was involved with on-campus recruiting and player development. In 2009, he became the Head Assistant Men’s Basketball coach and National Recruiting Coordinator at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas for Junior College Hall of Fame Coach Steve Green (three National Championships). While at South Plains, Coach Miller coached and or recruited nine players that would transfer on to NCAA Division I Universities. He earned a Bachelor of Science in history and physical education from Hillsdale and a Master’s degree in exercise sport science from Texas Tech. Brooks Williams is currently the head coach of the University of Louisiana Monroe women's basketball program. Williams was previously the head coach of the McNeese State women's basketball team, where she took the Cowgirls to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments and McNeese's first-ever post-season appearance. In her nine seasons at McNeese, Williams took the Cowgirls to six straight post-seasons and produced four 20-plus win seasons.
