Spreaker Description
In this powerful episode of Need to Know, Ross Coulthart and Bryce Zabel regroup following their in-person appearance at Contact in the Desert, where they spoke to a packed audience and connected with key voices in the UFO/UAP field. The conversation kicks off with a major revelation from Ross about the 2004 Tic Tac incident—one of the most pivotal cases in modern UFO history. Ross lays out new details suggesting that the full extent of the encounter has not been disclosed to the public. Drawing on high-level sources and investigative leads, he presents a serious claim that the event was not just a singular anomaly but part of a broader pattern involving international military activity and the concealment of advanced technologies potentially linked to China. The episode dives deep into the challenges of breaking significant stories in today's media landscape, the resistance faced by whistleblowers, and the careful verification process that underpins responsible journalism. With 60 Minutes preparing to revisit the UAP topic, Bryce and Ross discuss the shifting tone in mainstream media and how the public is becoming more engaged, but also more skeptical. This episode stands out not only for its compelling content but for the credibility of its hosts, who bring a blend of journalistic rigor, historical insight, and first-hand experience to one of the most pressing issues of our time.
Human Resources (HR) has no universally accepted purpose or agreed outcomes, meaning that gauging its success or otherwise is also vague. In this six-part podcast Denis Barnard sets out to define these missing links and uses the ‘reverse' methodology starting with business needs and working back to points where HR should be fulfilling them.Part Six - The Future of HRHR has no shortage of work, but is it making a difference? How do you reverse engineer stuff in marketing? Should you copy your competitors? Daniel and Jay point out it's not about copying your competition, but seeing what they're doing and tweaking it to your brand. From category competitors to potential audiences for podcasts and newsletters, it's a good idea to check them out and analyze. Who's competing? Who are the leaders in your category? What are they doing better than you? Plus, Daniel introduces two free tools to show you what your competitors' tech stacks look like AND what their ads look like. Jay mentions these free tools are a goldmine for research. This short ‘n sweet Bathroom Break is all about studying your competition so you can improve, too.
Behind every pixel, mechanic, and character design lies a hidden battlefield where intellectual property law shapes the games we play. From energy drinks to tattoos, the unlikely legal showdowns that define modern gaming are stranger than fiction.Play IP Sidequest Showdown. An escape-room-style game inspired by this episode. Drop a comment if you cracked the code. Monster Energy's aggressive pursuit of any game title containing the word "monster" forced Ubisoft to abandon "Gods and Monsters" despite zero connection to beverages. When NBA 2K rendered LeBron James's tattoos with perfect detail, the copyright holders demanded millions—only to have the courts rule that realistic depictions qualify as fair use. And who knew that the shattered glass texture in Resident Evil was actually a photographer's copyrighted work, leading to one of the largest copyright claims ever filed by a single artist against a game studio? The patent wars are equally fascinating. Nintendo secured a $30 million settlement from fellow Japanese developer Colopl over touch controls—yes, the way your finger moves across a screen can be proprietary. Sega claimed ownership of gacha mechanics where duplicate characters fuse to unlock abilities. And Palworld's "Pokémon with guns" approach triggered Nintendo's legal team to pursue patent infringement rather than the expected copyright route.Even legends aren't immune. Diego Maradona discovered his likeness in Pro Evolution Soccer without permission, leading to a lawsuit that transformed into a sponsorship deal. Meanwhile, Call of Duty successfully defended using Humvees in-game without a license, establishing crucial First Amendment protections for realistic depictions in interactive entertainment. These cases reveal the invisible forces shaping what makes it to our screens. Next time you're playing your favorite game, remember that behind every design decision might be a legal battle that determined not just how the game looks, but how it fundamentally works. The gaming industry's most consequential battles happen in courtrooms, not on our screens.Ready to explore more? Remember to try our IP Sidequest Showdown game on our website and see if you can navigate the legal labyrinth yourself.Send us a text

Email blasts and Facebook groups are flooded with noise, and buyers have tuned out. Daniel, co-founder of InvestorBase, shares how his team scaled to 10 deals a month across 10 states by flipping the dispo process on its head. Instead of casting a wide net, they reverse-engineered exactly what top hedge fund buyers wanted and pre-sold deals before locking them up. After losing $150K in assignments in a single day, Daniel's team built a tool to identify real buyers based on actual flip and rental data—no more guessing. Whether you're using their software or not, Daniel breaks down a proven cold calling script, a high-converting follow-up cadence, and the psychology behind why buyers want to be first in line. As April 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the Arm architecture, I am re-releasing my episode with Steve Furber. What began as an ambitious project in a small corner of Cambridge, U.K., has grown into the world's most widely adopted computing architecture, now powering billions of devices – from sensors, smartphones and laptops to vehicles, datacenters and beyond. It was at 3pm on 26th April 1985, the chip that led to the world's first commercial RISC processor powered up... and changed the world!Steve Furber is a seminal computer scientist, mathematician and hardware designer whose work includes the BBC Microcomputer and the ARM 32-bit RISC microprocessor which can be found in over 100 billion devices today.Steve studied both Maths followed by a PhD in Aerodynamics at Cambridge University before joining Herman Hauser and Chris Curry at Acorn Computers. For the next decade, he would work with a first-class team of engineers and designers to revolutionise the home computer market before he and Sophie Wilson went on to design the ARM processor with a relatively small team and budget and with little inkling of the consequence it might bring to the world. In 1990, Steve left Acorn moved to Manchester where he is now Professor of Computer Engineering at the university there. He was charged with leading research into asynchronous systems, low-power electronics and neural engineering which led to the SpiNNaker project - a super computer incorporating a million ARM processors which are optimised for computational neuroscience. He is basically trying to reverse engineer the brain – a lofty ambition even by his own admission. In this wide-ranging conversation, we discuss Steve's life journey from studying maths with professors such as the famed John Conway and Sir James Lighthill to the highs and lows of building the BBC Micro and the story behind the ARM 32-bit RISC microprocessor.I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Steve and am overly excited about his SpiNNaker project which we also discuss today.Enjoy!--------------Steve Furber info / SpiNNaker info / Micro Men filmDanielle on Twitter @daniellenewnham and Instagram @daniellenewnham / Newsletter Watch Steve and Sophie talk about those early arm days tomorrow - buy your tickets here.

Get Michelle's book here: https://a.co/d/9qreqPr One Idea To Rule Them All: Reverse Engineering American Propaganda" delves into the fascinating world of cognitive shortcuts that our brains employ to form beliefs, and how these can be manipulated in a technologically advanced society to subtly influence our perceptions. Rather than viewing propaganda as mere lies or distortions, the book explores the sophisticated techniques developed since the early 20th century that render such a simplistic view obsolete. It exposes the power wielded by 'Idea Bullies' who, armed with these techniques, vast wealth, and influential connections, dominate the marketplace of ideas, leading to a democracy ossified in orthodoxy. The book traces the historical evolution of this phenomenon, known variously as the manufacturing of consent, public relations, or simply 'propaganda'. It also illuminates how the art of stagecraft and narrative storytelling have supplanted the objective pursuit of truth, and why this manipulation of language is invariably the first harbinger of tyranny. HT2095 - A Bit of Reverse Engineering I rarely hear anyone in photography discussing the absolutely necessary reverse engineering that is required when choosing our gear. This makes no sense to me.

During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology we're going to mess with your beautiful minds just a wee bit by flipping to the end of the book of Romans before reading the beginning. But we're not just messing with y'all to exasperate you like my nephew John Michael loves to do when he teases Missy. I promise there's a redemptive method to our madness! We're going to read Romans in reverse because if you don't understand what Paul's preaching toward the end of this theologically dense epistle, then the beginning and middle of the letter lose some of their doctrinal oomph. Dr. Scot McKnight, who's a renowned New Testament scholar, seminary professor, prolific author and who purely by the amazing grace of God has become a Kerygma regular and a friend to Alli, Dr. Howard and me says this about reading Romans in reverse: One quick read of Romans 14-16 reveals the pastoral context of this letter, and no reading of Romans 1-11 that ignores 14-16 will catch the Pauline drift of why he is writing. In other words, our tendency to crush out on chapters 4-8 of Romans – what with all of its low-hanging theological fruit – while ignoring the latter part of Paul's preeminent epistle is akin to eating the entire basket of tortilla chips before the hot queso gets to the table and then having nothing to dunk in that glorious goo…we're missing out on the best part! So please grab your favorite beverage and your Bible – unless of course, you've got both hands halfway up a gourd in an attempt to DYI Fall centerpieces for your niece's low budget wedding – and come hang out on the porch with Alli, Dr. Howard and me. We're as happy as three hungry mice trapped in a cheese factory that we get to hang out with you today. And I apologize for the multiple cheese references but once I hear the word queso my dairy obsession tends to take over!
