Harris Peskin, partner at Esports Law Group and Devin Nash, founding partner of Novo and former CEO of Counter Logic Gaming, talk about the economics and longevity of esports and why we might be at the start of a period of stagnation as an industry. "You need those people to be engaged in video games in a competitive sense and it's just not there right now. It might be, it could be in the future and I think it will be in the future, to be clear. The main problem I have right now is the engagement and the engagement isn't there. That's the problem." Part 2 of this episode will be live on Monday, Aug. 22. I had the opportunity to give a Keynote Talk at the Cal State University Alliance. The Keynote focuses on the Future of Content Creation, The Future of Esports, How to Get a Job in the Esports Industry, How to Get a Job in the Gaming Industry, and How to Become a Content Creator. Many of these jobs will likely be in tertiary and adjacent industries as marketers, chefs, video editors, and other secondary support roles. I also give advice on How to Get a Job in the eSports Industry as a College Graduate, How to Become a Content Creator as a College Graduate and How to Grow a Twitch Stream or How To Grow a Youtube Channel. Cal State was kind enough to give me 30 minutes to help their students learn How to Get a Job in Esports, and How to Grow an Audience as a content creator. I was able to share my experiences as the former CEO of CLG, Counter Logic Gaming, and when I ran the League of Legends team, Team Dignitas. If you're interested in learning How To Grow a Twitch Stream, How To Grow a YouTube Channel, or Get a Job in the Esports Industry, you've come to the right Keynote.

Episode 38 - LCS Pre-Season Tier List Spring 2020 Recorded on: January 19th, 2020 We hope everybody had an excellent holiday season but it's time to get back to work as we gear up for the 2020 competitively League of Legends season! We'll be doing our pre-season tier lists and power rankings for the four major regions (LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC) over the next couple of weeks to get them to you all before those respective seasons begin. A big part of capping or playing daily fantasy for any sport is to have a concept of the relative strength of teams before games are played because there is frequently a big edge to be gained before we start getting data and sample size. It frames a lot of your comparisons, discussions, and early season decisions. Is this Team A being overrated? Underrated? How many things need to go right for this team to exceed their expectation? etc. etc. Often there is a lot of value because of price memory or perception from the previous year or name brand value compared to actual evaluation. Ultimately we won't know exactly how things play out until we see it but it's a good excercise to get yourself well-versed on the regions you intend to focus on and prepare yourself for the year! Intro 0:01:21 - Defining our tiers (Best to worst: S, A, B, C, D, F) 0:02:58 - LCS Tier List Discussion Listed below is our tier list for the LCS. No Excuses! The EZ Coach was joined by special guest Devin Nash at 6 PM PDT on Thursday, June 6th, for a free ranging discussion on Ownership and how great leaders make no excuses. Devin is currently Chief Marketing Officer of N3rdfusion. As CEO of Counter Logic Gaming, he grew the company to more than 100 employees before successfully selling it to Madison Square Gardens. Devin and Ethan drew on their shared interest in the book Extreme Ownership. They compared and contrasted the Ownership approach in the book with the Amazon Leadership Principle of Ownership, which Ethan contributed to in 2010. Watch to understand how while excuses, both obvious and subtle, are so tempting, they ultimately undermine your career.

On today's episode of the Rough Drafts Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk look back at the North American LCS Quarterfinals and look forward to this week's Semifinals action. They start by looking at a disappointing showing from NRG, questioning whether they'll be able to recover in their current form and what this dominant Team Liquid victory says about their upcoming match-up against Counter Logic Gaming. Then, they move on to the dreaded Weldon effect, where the blame falls for Cloud9, and whether any of this will be enough to upset the Immortals powerhouse. On Day Four of the Rough Drafts Podcast's 2016 NA LCS Team-by-Team Preview, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk take a look at the reigning North American Champions, Counter Logic Gaming. After a brief look at their offseason changes, they break down how CLG's home grown talent is likely to develop over the course of a split, whether Darshan has the possibility of becoming the best North American top laner by the end of the split, and how the team will struggle in a tank/utility top lane meta when they need someone to hard carry a game for them. After a brief, but optimistic, look into Walter's crystal ball, the two make their predictions for this Counter Logic Gaming roster in the 2016 Spring Split. In what is undoubtedly among the most dense and passionate podcasts of Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk's career, the two take a look at every angle they can find on the recent controversy surrounding making player salaries public, tracing the conversation back to Thoorin's Christmas Eve post and analyzing the arguments, intentions, and natural biases of everyone involved, including themselves. Topics include the asymmetry of knowledge and how current poaching protection rules accentuate that divide, the conflict of interest behind an organization "putting players first" by offering to help start a Players' Union, Riot's failure to capitalize on the commercial success of the professional scene (and how Venture Capitalists may be the best equipped to fix it), and the inherent hypocrisy of Counter Logic Gaming as seen in their abhorrent contract of ADC Stixxay during the 2015 season. In this episode of the Guess the Lines: Unikoin Challenge Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk sit down to discuss a day of Worlds action that nobody could have seen coming. They begin by discussing the fall of Counter Logic Gaming, whether PaiN Gaming could have emerged from this group if they had access to a better bootcamp, the achilles heel of the KOO Tigers, and how the Flash Wolves finally learned to embrace the compositions they should have been playing all along. They close by taking a look at tomorrow's Group C games, guessing the lines and looking for any sort of gambling proposition that can add excitement to a day that otherwise looks locked up.
In today's special bonus episode of the Guess the Lines Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk don't actually have any lines to guess. Instead, they have six games from Day Four of the League of Legends World Championship to dig through for whatever insight they can find as they prepare for next week's slate of games. This leads to discussions on how far OG Hermit's brilliant strategies can take this team, whether Cloud9's path to success is maintainable, and whether Counter Logic Gaming's loss to the KOO Tigers puts their emergence from the Group Stage in jeopardy.
In today's episode of the Guess the Lines Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar wrap up the third day of the League of Legends World Championship and enjoy this new world in which anything is apparently possible as long as you don't happen to gamble on it for the sake of a podcast. After looking at the flailing H2k Gaming and Marin's growth on SKT, they discuss whether Origen's newfound strategic success is enough to take down KT Rolster, whether ahq e-Sports Club won their game against Fnatic more than Fnatic lost it, and if Counter Logic Gaming can truly achieve Counter Logic Nirvana and 3-0 the first half of this group stage.
