When Echo Fox burst into the world of eSports, it was a glowing beacon – a shining example of what the burgeoning world of competitive gaming could look like. It was the first celebrity-driven team, managed by pro athletes that understood the parallels between sports and gaming. But that promise soon vanished into thin air, consumed by lawsuits, restraining orders, death threats and drug-fueled parties. Get the play-by-play on Episode 19 of The Great Fail. Festival Pass Stories, your favorite podcast on all things live events is back with another episode! This week our host, Pat Tully sits down with retired NBA player, former New York Knick, and Indiana basketball legend, Jared Jeffries. Pat caught up with Jared just before the beginning of pro basketball's main event, the NBA Finals. This has been an unusual season for the NBA, with the national pandemic coming in the middle of their regular season. However, commissioner Adam Silver and the NBA was able to regroup and finish the season in the notorious, “NBA Bubble”. The Playoffs have been intense as ever on the court, even though the players aren't performing in front of fans. Jared Jeffries shares his experience with the Nuggets organization during his time in the bubble, and just how difficult it is mentally for everyone there. Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, and Anthony Davis, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, are sure to put on quite a show for us at home on NBA's biggest stage. The Finals are always a spectacular festival, but Jared Jeffries recalls his own account of an equally great sports festival, the NCAA Final Four. Jeffries lead his alma mater, University of Indiana Hoosier team to the “big dance,” the National Championship Game in 2002. Jared had a successful college and professional basketball career, but now as a retired player, he has shifted his focus to other avenues. The former Director of Player Personnel for the Denver Nuggets, is a man of many talents. Jeffries was seen as a rising star as an NBA executive, and still has strong relationships with players today. Recently, Jared was the President of Echo Fox, an eSports organization. Now, he's a teacher of social studies and history, but that isn't all he's up to. Jared hosts a brand new show called “Modern Fishing,” where he gives his audience tips and technique on fishing. Festival Pass is all about the behind the scenes stories of festivals that you won't get anywhere else, and Pat and Jared deliver some great tales. Not only do Pat and Jared give their insight on what we can expect in The Finals during COVID-19, but they also talk about the New York Knicks' free agency. Whether it's stories about playing with Michael Jordan, or being in a locker room with coaching legend Bobby Knight, this episode is more than enough to keep you entertained. “You have to make sure every player educates themselves, and finds their own belief system, and what they're passionate about.” - Jared Jeffries Catch the interview on Festival Pass Stories! https://festivalpass.com/stories You can find Jared on: Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/modernfishingtv/ Jared's Twitter- https://twitter.com/modernfishingtv Modern Fishing TV- http://modernfishingtv.com Modern Fishing TV on YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLDF-HWietzJdjieiRw8cNw Connect with Festival Pass! TGIF my friends. It is Friday August 16th and PokemonGO announces a tournament?! Dota 2 International surpasses $33 Million prize pool, and Riot Games takes over sale of Echo Fox’s LCS slot after Kroenke deal falls through. Let’s dive in! Welcome. Back. Friends! To the UEG Podcast. It’s ya boi the Choice, your voice for esports! Really quick before we jump into what’s happening, we’re working on some cool ideas for Friday episodes, and I’m excited! So stay tuned for that. So a little something off the norm, the official PokemonGO twitter announced yesterday that it will be holding an eight trainer Invitational Tournament during the 2019 Pokemon World Championships. This will be PokemonGO’s first Trainer Battle Tournament and they’re kicking it off with some big Content Creator names. Junichi Masuda, Shigeki Morimoto, UnlistedLeaf, Strawburry17, Yamada, Poke AK, PokoKieng, and one lucky trainer! They may be doing a raffle, or drawing for that last spot to compete. The rules are simple, Double Elimination bracket, best of 5 matches, but here’s where it gets a little interesting. Trainers need to pick six Pokemon that are Great League eligible, which means less than 1500 CP, that they will use for the entirety of the tournament. A little twist thrown in at the end, no Pokemon can be of the same species. Should be a fun little watch! This will be happening today after the opening ceremonies. I will definitely be watching.

00:00:00 Intro- WE LOVE EUROPE! 00:03:15 Pro View!? 00:08:25 Team/League Passes?! 00:10:33 Golden Guardians’ academy team and other news 00:15:55 How HLL works 00:19:34 RedWhaler's thesis: Echo Fox is in a good position for the Summer, they'll finish top 4. 00:28:44 TheBiggestCow believes 100T will finish 4th or 5th, but not go to Worlds. 00:38:03 Shoutout to Alienware :) alienware.com/travis or dell.com/travis and TRAVIS10OFF 00:41:36 hitstreak discusses Pro View as a product. 01:00:20 legomaheggoz expresses his interest in Fantasy League coming back. 01:16:22 Dr. Manhattan returns to talk about TL going into Summer: based on their history, they'll revert to a bot-centric team and have a rough start. 01:24:30 Cheesecake thought that if Yuumi became pick/ban worth in pro League, viewership will go down because she's un-interactive to watch. 01:33:05 holdmyHTCphone discusses players being "held" by teams, such as Goldenglue, doesn't think it's a bad thing. (Based on this interview with Hauntzer: https://youtu.be/S4JF0lyMUMI ) 01:43:14 tangysauce 's hottake: G2 is not the best team in the world; but WILL be by the time Worlds comes around. 01:52:57 Outro~

Shout out to Dylan for patching together this weeks episode despite some difficulties. Now Playing: Dylan dives into the Dalaran Heist single player adventure in Hearthstone while Ryan talks about playing... EA's Star Wars Battlefront 2, the scourge of all loot boxes. How have both games evolved into the states they are in today, compared to what they looked like when they were first released? News: Speaking of... Loot Boxes, the United States is finally introducing legislation in the U.S. Senate. While some of the concerns raised by the bill have been corrected by the industry, there is a lot of wording in the bill concerned about how microtransactions target children. In a press release, bill creator Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) stated "Game developers who knowingly exploit children should face legal consequences.” We also looked at the differences in bringing high quality end game content like raiding into the console space thanks to some issues console players of the Division 2 had with the latest update. How will developers build their games to cater to all audiences when there are hardware differences? Competitive Corner: G2 took down Team Liquid at the Mid-Season Invitational, ending Liquids dominate run through the NA teams. We will see where they end up once World's come around. After Rick Fox decided to leave Echo Fox a few weeks ago due to racial slurs from a board member, Riot issued an ultimatum demanding the board member be removed. But at the same time, Riot still has employee's performing walkouts because of how their workers are treated. It is very disheartening to see Riot have a heavy hand ready to swing at other esports organizations, but they don't take the same approach to protecting their most valuable assets: Their staff. Finally, we talk about the pure joy that comes from watching the Overwatch League All Star Week events. It is just great to see so many pros relax, have fun, and laugh. Remember folks, as always, be kind to your fellow gamers.
