It seems like every day there is a new tool or product out there that is promising our end users abilities on par of turning lead into gold. With just this one tool, our end users can do anything! If only their pesky IT team would let them install it, then they could generate endless shareholder value, become super efficient, and actually this exact tool is critical for their job and how dare you question it! When end users are requesting new tools that will lead them to the promised lands, how can we as IT teams ensure that the tools are actually what they say they are, and how can we measure their risk in our environments? Brands are things that I never really thought about when I was younger. I knew and trusted certain brands based on some reputation that I subliminally learned from…somewhere. Sure I've set up non profits, I've represented businesses professionally around the world, I have been a part of a larger brand that someone worked hard to create. But as someone with zero marketing finesse, I was shocked when I was interviewing for a job internally years ago, and someone mentioned that I had a strong brand. Me? Anti Marketing - having a brand? We all have a brand, whether it's literally a company that we own or a company we represent, or figuratively as one we put out in the world. And if you're like me, someone who hasn't put much thought into what having a brand means, and why you should care about protecting it - this episode is for you. This episode is a little bit different than our usual live recordings. Usually our live recordings are on stage, in front of an audience- with guests that follows a very similar format to what we usually do. This episode is not that - it has many guests- who will introduce themselves, a hazy plotline, and was recorded with a stolen microphone, unofficially, guerilla style at the first ever MacAdmins Europe conference. Follow me throughout the day as I accost victims- I mean guests- on the spot and ask questions about the conference, their perspectives, and what they've enjoyed most. Everyone wants to manage devices these days, and not just Macs. Being able to embed device management into the platform you're already building can provide a seamless experience for your users. 2026 has begun. Lets look forwards and no backwards and talk about what we have in hope for the year. What are we hoping to see from a hardware perspective? What are we hanging out for at WWDC this year? What predictions do we have for our favourite community projects, conferences, vendors and integrations? What do we resolve to do more, of, less of or to just keep doing? America is suffering from a loneliness epidemic. Some groups have suggested religious communities may be key to solving it. Could it help? Those arguing “yes” say it gives people regular social contact, support systems, and a sense of purpose that could combat isolation. Those arguing “no” say that secular options would provide better, broad-based solutions. Now we debate: Can Religion Cure the Loneliness Epidemic? Arguing Yes: Harold Koenig, Director of Duke University's Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health Chris Murphy, Senator from Connecticut Arguing No: Ruth Whippman, Author of "America the Anxious: How Our Pursuit of Happiness Is Creating a Nation of Nervous Wrecks" and "BOYMOM: Reimagining Boyhood in the Age of Impossible Masculinity." J. Warner Wallace interviews Steven Kingsley, author of "The Easter Answer". As a layperson, Kingsley provides a response to atheist Dan Barker's "Easter Challenge". Are there inherent internal contradictions in the Easter accounts found in the Gospels? Are these contradictions a proof that the Christian claims related to the Resurrection are false? We'll examine the "Easter Challenge" and Steven Kinsley's "Easter Answer" in this edition of the show. For more information about the case for the Resurrection of Jesus from the perspective of a detective, see J. Warner's Easter tract, CASE CLOSED.

Automating our work load is a given in IT, and there are a lot of tools out there to help you accomplish streamlined workflows and reclaim time back in your day. Something the Mac Admin Community excels at is its open source mindset and providing tools to others to lend a helping hand. Working at the same place for a long time can have some amazing benefits. Every conversation, meeting, or ticket solved is another person you met, another piece of knowledge you have that you didn't have before and another piece of the huge puzzle that is slowly getting assembled inside your brain. Institutional knowledge can be an amazing thing, and we all love that person we work with who seems to have been there right from the beginning and just.knows.stuff. But does having too many puzzle pieces assembled in your mind prevent you from getting overly curious, for fear of tipping everything over? What about the excitement of starting a new job, meeting new people and discovering new ways of doing things? Today we are so happy to welcome Kitzy back to the Mac Admins podcast after a very long time to talk about rediscovering curiosity and what it's like to walk away from being the keeper of the lore. After reporting on state/church news, we hear the song "Friendly Atheist T-shirt" by the Freethought Band of Humanists of Minnesota. Then, we speak with University of Toronto Professor of Religion Kevin Lewis O'Neill about his book, Unforgivable: An Abusive Priest and the Church That Sent Him Abroad.
After covering state/church news, we report on the "war-mongering" Christian nationalist rhetoric at Charlie Kirk's memorial. Then, we hear distinguished attorney Richard Katskee speaking at the Scopes Trial Centennial conference about his role in the 2005 lawsuit in Dover, Pennsylvania, defending the teaching of evolution in the public schools.
We celebrate a court victory in Arkansas, where a federal court issued a second preliminary injunction blocking a state law requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. We criticize a “faith-based disaster recovery event” at the National Mall in which Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner proclaimed that "faith is back in our government." We speak with Rep. Mark Pocan about the whitewashing of history in the wake of Christian nationalist Charlie Kirk's murder and the ever-growing importance of the separation between church and state.
Christian nationalists in government are ramping up the rhetoric. We report how FFRF is protesting the White House "America Prays" initiative and a bill to put "In God We Trust" on federal buildings. Then, we speak with journalist Haley Cohen Gilliland, author of A Flower Traveled in My Blood: The Incredible True Story of the Grandmothers Who Fought to Find a Stolen Generation of Children, about right-wing Argentine dictator Jorge Rafael Videla, whose government kidnapped, tortured and killed thousands of protesters and stole hundreds of their babies to be raised with "Western Christian values."
We report on state/church victories and challenges in Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas, Morocco, Minnesota and Florida. Then, we hear Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ed Larson (Summer for the Gods) tell us the story of the 1925 Scopes Trial, the “Trial of the Century,” pitting science against religion in Dayton, Tenn., 100 years ago.
We are not backing down in our lawsuit challenging the Ten Commandments in Texas public schools, in spite of the Texas Attorney General's warning that he won't back down from posting them. After covering state/church news in Texas, Arkansas, Minnesota and Colorado, we hear Rachel Maddow's warning about authoritarianism. Then, we speak with April Ajoy, author of the book Star-Spangled Jesus: Leaving Christian Nationalism and Finding A True Faith.
