In this insightful episode of Product Voices, JJ Rorie talks with Gopikrishnan Anilkumar, Principal Product Manager at Amazon and member of the Forbes Technology Council, about how artificial intelligence is transforming the craft of product management.Gopikrishnan shares his journey from traditional software product management to leading AI-driven teams at major companies like Amazon, Walmart, and Goldman Sachs. Together, JJ and Gopikrishnan explore what remains constant in great product management—customer empathy, communication, structured thinking, and stakeholder alignment—and what's changing fast as AI becomes central to how products are built, learned from, and improved.Listeners will learn how AI product managers differ from traditional ones, not because they code or build models, but because they design experiences that learn and evolve. Gopikrishnan explains how metrics shift (from satisfaction and revenue to latency, model performance, and hallucination rates), how teams expand to include machine learning scientists and evaluators, and why “being AI-aware” is now an essential product skill.Topics Covered:The evolution from traditional to AI product managementWhy PM fundamentals—empathy, communication, alignment—never go out of styleHow AI changes metrics, responsibility, and stakeholder complexityDesigning for trust, safety, and explainability in AI experiencesThe mindset shift from building features to architecting experiencesThe experimental nature of AI product work (build, test, learn, repeat)Why you don't need to be a machine learning expert to be an AI PMHow every PM will soon interact with AI in some formAdvice for PMs transitioning into AI and for new PMs entering the fieldKey Quotes:“AI product managers are not building a feature. You are building experiences — you're an experience architect.” “Being AI-aware will soon be one of the key strengths of a product manager.”“You don't need to be a machine learning expert. You need curiosity, learning agility, and strong PM fundamentals.”Takeaways:Trust and responsibility are the new pillars of AI-driven product management.Product management is evolving from control to influence — guiding systems that learn and adapt.Continuous experimentation and iteration are essential in AI environments.AI literacy is becoming as foundational as digital or mobile literacy once was.
Listen to this audio of a GeorgetownCRI webinar held on September 10, 2025 exploring why so few small businesses take advantage of tax credits designed to help them offer retirement plans. Despite substantial expansions to the Section 45E tax credit through the SECURE Acts, fewer than 6% of eligible firms actually claim it—a puzzle that a new CRI working paper, cross-published by NBER, seeks to unravel. Joining moderator Angela Antonelli, Executive Director of Georgetown's Center for Retirement Initiatives, are panelists Adam Bloomfield, Non-Resident Scholar at CRI; Stephanie Liu Cossart, Principal Product Manager at Gusto; Kendra Isaacson, Principal at Mindset; and Sita Slavov, Professor at George Mason University's Schar School. Together, they examine what drives—or hinders—the use of these tax incentives and what policymakers need to understand about reaching their intended beneficiaries.

Building the right thing is hard. Building the wrong thing is easy and costly. In this episode, Jason Sparks, Principal Product Manager at ReUp Education, dives deep into the discipline of continuous validation inside enterprise environments. Real product-market fit evolves through repeated conversations and iteration.— Assumptions must be challenged: Build a culture where being proven wrong is celebrated, not feared.— Don't let leadership derail discovery: Product managers must set boundaries and bring clarity on the problem space before execution begins.— Grading users is as critical as grading feedback: Identify the right customers to listen to—being nice isn't the same as being the right fit.— Use discovery decks to guide conversations: Jason uses bold assumptions, interactive sessions, and immediate iteration to refine ideas quickly.— Tech accelerates, but doesn't replace, human insight: AI tools for sentiment and semantic analysis are powerful but should supplement—not substitute—real human interaction.Featured Links:We're taking Community Questions for The Product Experience podcast.Got a burning product question for Lily, Randy, or an upcoming guest? Strategic Technology Consultation Services This episode of The Modern .NET Show is supported, in part, by RJJ Software's Strategic Technology Consultation Services. If you're an SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) leader wondering why your technology investments aren't delivering, or you're facing critical decisions about AI, modernization, or team productivity, let's talk. Show Notes "Simple is always the better choice, but easy is not always the best. So sometimes you'll go to graph, it's a little bit harder for us to write the code for around it, but the bandwidth consumption is considerably smaller. the compute consumption and the ability for it to run on a mobile device is considerably easier."— Jerry Nixon Hey everyone, and welcome back to The Modern .NET Show; the premier .NET podcast, focusing entirely on the knowledge, tools, and frameworks that all .NET developers should have in their toolbox. I'm your host Jamie Taylor, bringing you conversations with the brightest minds in the .NET ecosystem. Today, we're joined by Jerry Nixon. Jerry is a Principal Product Manager at Microsoft, focussing on the tooling and Developer Experience around Azure SQL Server. Jerry shares his advice for architecting web-based APIs, RESTful design, and using what fits within your team, and of course we talk about Data API Builder. "When you think about what an architect really is and their responsibility, the decisions, architectural decisions are the decisions that are the most expensive to change. That's kind of like who should be making this decision? Well, how expensive is it to change? It's very expensive."— Jerry Nixon We also talk about the importance of interpersonal skills in modern software engineering (whether you're working in open source or not), psychological safety, and the importance of self-reflection in our day-to-day work. In this episode, I speak with three guests from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal: Building trust in human-AI partnerships in security. We originally came together for a panel at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Conference on AI in May 2025, and this episode recaps that discussion.Key takeaways:Security practitioners tend to be natural-born skeptics (can you blame them?!). They struggle to trust and adopt AI-powered security products, especially in higher-risk scenarios with overly simplified decision-making processes.AI can be a tool for threat actors and a threat vector itself, and its non-deterministic nature makes it unpredictable and vulnerable to manipulation. All AI models are biased, but not all bias is negative. Recognized and carefully managed bias can provide actionable insights. Purposefully biased (opinionated) models should be transparent.Clearer standards and expectations are needed for “human-in-the-loop” and human oversight. What does the human actually do, are they qualified, and do they have the right experience and information? What happens when today's graduates are tomorrow's security practitioners? On one end of the spectrum we have a lot of skepticism, on the other end not enough. We talk about over-reliance on AI, de-skilling, and loss of situational awareness.Dr. Margaret Cunningham is the Technical Director, Security & AI Strategy at Darktrace. Margaret was formerly Principal Product Manager at Forcepoint and Senior Staff Behavioral Engineer at Robinhood.Dr. Divya Ramjee is an Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She also leads RIT's Technology and Policy Lab, analyzing security, AI policy, and privacy challenges. She previously held senior roles in US government across various agencies.Dr. Matthew Canham is the Executive Director, Cognitive Security Institute. He is a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent, with over twenty years of research in cognitive security.

In this episode, Ashish Bhatia, Principal Product Manager at Microsoft, unpacks the shift from traditional automation to intelligent agents—and what it means for the future of work. From the myth of “autonomous agents” to the real-world challenges of memory, trust, and productivity, this conversation dives deep into the evolving landscape of AI. Whether you're building with Copilot or planning your next AI strategy, this episode will sharpen your perspective on where the tech is headed—and what's still missing.KEY TAKEAWAYS Agentification is the next evolution of apps: We're moving from reactive chatbots to proactive assistants that can take meaningful action—but we're still early in that journey. Memory is the missing link: Long-term context retention is essential for agents to become truly useful. Expect major strides in this area by 2025. Autonomous agents are still a myth: Most current “agents” are glorified automations. True autonomy requires reasoning, adaptability, and trust. Model selection will soon be invisible: Expect model routing to become standard, optimizing for cost and performance without user intervention. AI isn't saving time—yet: While AI boosts output quality, it still requires human oversight. The next leap is reducing the need for constant review. RESOURCES MENTIONED

In a rare show of collaboration, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have joined forces on Kro — the Kubernetes Resource Orchestrator — an open source, cloud-agnostic tool designed to simplify custom resource orchestration in Kubernetes. Announced during KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe, Kro was born from strong customer demand for a Kubernetes-native solution that works across cloud providers without vendor lock-in. Nic Slattery, Product Manager at Google and Jesse Butler, Principal Product Manager, AWS shared with The New Stack that unlike many enterprise products, Kro didn't stem from top-down strategy but from consistent customer "pull" experienced by all three companies. It aims to reduce complexity by allowing platform teams to offer simplified interfaces to developers, enabling resource requests without needing deep service-specific knowledge. Kro also represents a unique cross-company collaboration, driven by a shared mission and open source values. Though still in its alpha stage, the project has already attracted 57 contributors in just seven months. The team is now focused on refining core features and preparing for a production-ready release — all while maintaining a narrowly scoped, community-first approach.Learn more from The New Stack about KRO:One Mighty kro; One Giant Leap for Kubernetes Resource OrchestrationKubernetes Gets a New Resource Orchestrator in the Form of KroOrchestrate Cloud Native Workloads With Kro and KubernetesJoin our community of newsletter subscribers to stay on top of the news and at the top of your game.
Special guests Burke Holland and Harald Kirschner from Microsoft join us on this episode to share the new GitHub Copilot features coming to VS Code and beyond.First up: agent mode is now available to all users in VS Code. GitHub Copilot gets a serious upgrade as it can now create new apps from scratch, handle complex changes to existing code across multiple files, run (and debug) tests from the command line, and guide you through its reasoning. Additionally, VS Code and GH Copilot now offer MCP (model context protocol) for agent mode. This means that GitHub Copilot can use context tools and services while building an application. There's a host of already available community-standard MCP servers available on github.com or devs can build their own and GH Copilot will be able to use it to enhance its knowledge and capabilities.Next Edit Suggestions (NES) lands in GH Copilot as well, so when devs make one change to a file Copilot predicts the changes that follow and presents them in sequence. Not only are ghost-text suggestions faster to appear to users in VS Code, but Copilot is also better at understanding what other changes are needed to support the new code.Special Guests:Burke Holland, Principal Developer Advocate at Microsoft running the VS Code developer community teamHarald Kirschner, Principal Product Manager at Microsoft for VS Code and GitHub CopilotRelevant Links:VS Code Timeline viewBurke's WebsiteBurke on GitHubBurke on TwitterBurke on YouTubeBurke on TikTokBurke on LinkedInHarald's WebsiteHarald on GitHubHarald on TwitterHarald on LinkedInWhat Makes Us Happy this Week:Paige - Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2Jack - Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3TJ - Trip to the Grand Canyon and Zion National ParkBurke - Insta 360 webcamHarald - Springtime in CAThanks as always to our sponsor, the Blue Collar Coder channel on YouTube. Over the next few years, it's estimated that nearly a trillion dollars will be spent on data centers, semiconductors, and power grid upgrades. And this is all just to meet the growing computational needs of AI technologies. In fact, industry estimates suggest that global data center capacity could double by 2030, but this growth is far from straightforward. As AI technologies like generative AI continue to expand, the infrastructure needed to support them is growing at an unprecedented rate. However, data centers cannot just be built anywhere. Placement of new data centers isn't just about finding enough land — it's about balancing proximity to power plants, high-capacity transmission lines, and broadband infrastructure, while also considering environmental factors.Location intelligence plays a pivotal role in this expansion. In this episode of Core Conversations, host Maiclaire Bolton Smith and Joe Francica, Principal Product Manager in CoreLogic's Location Intelligence Group discuss how geospatial tools can help mitigate some of these risks by identifying locations that are less vulnerable to natural hazards while also balancing the need for power and broadband access. As AI continues to evolve and the demand for data centers grows, having access to detailed geospatial data will give companies a strategic advantage in making informed, forward-looking decisions. In This Episode:2:11 – How much data center capacity will AI technologies (and their power consumption) require?4:49 – Why is AI consuming so much energy?8:55 – Which energy sources are data centers using and where are they generally located?9:31 – How does the availability of broadband play into the equation?10:40 – How does climate resilience come into play when looking for optimal locations of data centers?13:04 – how is proximity to an electrical grid or transmission facility part of the equation?14:29 – Erika Stanley does the numbers in the housing market in The Sip.15:40 – How are all the variables for optimum data center placement weighted.
