SideVayse: SVYS002 | Darkness, Darkness - Show notes In this SideVayse Buckley conjures up a live atmospheric soundscape to Hine's meditation on Darkness. So, find a quiet room, turn off the lights, put on your headphones and hitch a ride with Vayse to the heart of Darkness. Recorded 20 February 2023. For the gearheads amongst us, Buckley's setup for this recording was a Soma Lyra-8 running through Red Panda Particle and OTO Bam pedals. If you have a Spotify account and 80 minutes to get a bit intense and melancholy in a fairly adolescent way, a link to Hine's writing playlist for this episode is here: Darkness, Darkness (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1z7nvDZRqnxR028LHjNBKu?si=09c02cce8dcd4cae). Darkness abounds...but why? Instead of struggling with its existence, it will do us and all more good by asking why we go through it, and possible reasons why we are experiencing one or a couple “dark tunnels” in our lives today.

I was first introduced to Irish music many many years ago with the Irish Rovers and the Chieftains. I have been a morris dancer (not quite Celtic) for many years and eventually started doing Irish Set and Ceili dancing and my daughter competed Irish Dancing when she was young now. Going through a serious case of withdrawal from live Irish performance and dance. Thanks for helping to keep me sane."

Charge the Darkness: Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. How you can be a spark in the shadow.
On this week's episode, the guys take YouTube to task, discussing Let’s Plays, YouTubers, Patreon and algorithms. If this was a podcast about that stuff, it would be really interesting and on-topic! Now that the Podcast is old enough to drink, we finally have a normal discussion that makes us sound reasonably adult – totally unexpected. We also talk about Stephen King’s IT (2017) which was bloody good – all hail to the King, the renaissance is here! Matt and Chris also spend a lot of time talking about Awesome (Arnold) Schwarzenegger and Conan The Barbarian. This week’s homework was of course Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – the new game from Ninja Theory based around mental illness and collecting a whole lotta runes. Just be prepared for a whole lot of darkness. Darkness? Darkness. DARKNESS. The guys like the treatment of the mental illnesses, but feel perhaps the gameplay is not amazing. We also have a great discussion about the beautiful art style. Remember, if you liked this episode, don’t forget to facepalm that like and stare lovingly and intently at that subscribe button!
