Prayer, Bible reading, and spiritual leadership are all good things, but what happens when faith becomes a source of tension instead of connection in marriage? In this episode, Dr. Kim tackle the unhealthy spiritual dynamics that can quietly create distance between spouses: spiritual superiority, spiritual withdrawal, and using faith as a weapon. While most couples don't intend to hurt each other spiritually, it's easy to fall into patterns that leave one spouse feeling judged, inadequate, or alone. He discusses why spiritual loneliness can be so painful in marriage, how comparison and pressure shut down connection, and what it looks like to pursue spiritual intimacy in a way that invites both spouses closer to God and each other. If you've ever felt frustrated that your spouse isn't where you'd like them to be spiritually, or if you've ever felt like you could never measure up, this conversation offers practical encouragement and hope for building a healthier, more united spiritual foundation.   Episode Highlights: When Faith Creates Distance Instead of Connection  The Hidden Damage of Spiritual Superiority and Withdrawal  Moving from Weaponized Faith to Shared Faith    Quotes from This Episode: God designed marriage as the most intimate of all earthly relationships. There's a oneness God intended for marriage that touches every aspect of life.  When one spouse longs to pray together and it never happens, it doesn't just feel frustrating it feels lonely.  Loneliness can turn into resentment or even despair.  Nothing will shut your spouse down faster than feeling spiritually inferior in their own home.  The spouse that feels like they can never measure up will stop engaging.  When scripture becomes a sword instead of a shared foundation something has gone badly wrong.  Spiritual growth cannot be forced. You can model it. You can invite. But you cannot drag your spouse into a deeper faith any more than someone could have dragged you. God does that work.   Time to Talk About it: Are you feeling disconnected from your spouse spiritually?  If you are, have you approached your spouse honestly with your concerns? Ask them: How can we use our faith to encourage each other rather than pressure, correct, or compare one another?    Mentioned in This Episode: Awesome Marriage is on Instagram! Do you feel misunderstood and defeated when it comes to disagreements with your spouse? Feeling misunderstood in conflict is usually a sign of something deeper. Where exactly does the British love affair with tea begin? It all starts with a Portuguese princess…In this first episode of Here For The History, Alice Loxton and Ben Henderson explore the origin story of the British love of tea. Starting with the first appearance of tea in England in the 1600s and its popularisation in the English royal court, the story takes a dark turn as the British East India Company seeks to break China's monopoly on tea production leading to the Opium Wars and corporate espionage. Here For The History is a new BBC Sounds podcast where every week historians Alice Loxton and Ben Henderson will shed light on the stereotypes, social norms, traditions and beliefs that fill our everyday life. From Britain's stiff upper-lip, to Scottish tartan, the podcast will reveal the surprising roots of the customs and everyday objects that surround us.If you enjoy this episode, you can listen and subscribe to Here For The History on BBC Sounds. What do customers love and hate about coffee shops? It feels like a question that is too easy to answer and as a result I believe we do not spend nearly enough time researching it. This past weekend I spoke in Chicago at Coffee Fest. In preparation we analyzed the most positive reviews and negative reviews of the worst rated and best rated cafes on Google and Yelp in the Chicago area. The results fell in line with some assumption I had based on what I have seen from my own years in coffee and consulting. In addition though, when compiled and organized, there were a few things that I found very interesting that we all need to think deeply about.  So today we are going to be going over the list of things that people love and hate about coffee shops from this research and how this speaks to the greater issues in how we approach running our shops and the the path forward from here.   1:1 CONSULTING + COACHING! Why do people wear armor on the job, and how do everyday systems help them take it off? Marcus introduces a blueprint for creating loving experiences built on five sequential emotions, and reveals what happens when organizations try to skip ahead. He also addresses the pressures of the current moment and how AI can either support human flourishing or quietly push love out of work. Most importantly, Marcus offers concrete ways anyone can begin designing love back into work, leadership, learning, and culture with intention, starting now.
