In this fascinating episode of the Think Wildlife Podcast, we dive into the groundbreaking work of Project Dhvani, a pioneering conservation initiative using bioacoustics to revolutionize how we understand and manage biodiversity in India's tropical landscapes. Host Anish sits down with Dr. Vijay Ramesh, co-founder of Project Dhvani, to discuss how animal vocalization and animal sounds captured through passive remote sensing can reveal vital insights into the state of ecosystems, land-use changes, and the success of forest restoration projects.Project Dhvani began as a research collaboration between Dr. Ramesh, Dr. Pooja Choksi, and Dr. Sarika Kanwikar during their PhD studies at Columbia University. Their shared mission? Remote sensing technology, particularly passive acoustic monitoring, must be used to track biodiversity and conservation patterns across human-dominated and natural landscapes. Today, their work has grown into a multi-regional network, spanning Central India and the Tropical Western Ghats, two critical biodiversity hotspots. Why Sound Matters in Conservation TechBioacoustics, the science of using sound to monitor and interpret ecological activity, has become a cornerstone of modern conservation technology. From birds and insects to amphibians and mammals, many animals communicate through vocalizations that provide clues about their presence, abundance, and behavior. By deploying audio recorders in various habitats—restored forests, degraded lands, and agricultural plots—Project Dhvani is building a rich archive of animal vocalizations that help scientists analyze ecosystem processes in unprecedented ways. This episode explores how bioacoustic monitoring not only reveals species diversity but also helps evaluate the effectiveness of reforestation and ecological balance strategies. For example, Dr. Ramesh and his team have discovered significantly higher bird diversity in restored areas compared to degraded or unrestored ones—a hopeful signal that habitat loss can be reversed through thoughtful ecosystem management. From AI to Acoustic Networks: The Next Generation of Conservation TechnologyDr. Ramesh highlights how advances in remote sensing and AI-powered acoustic analysis are transforming the field. Platforms like Merlin and BirdNET, developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, are now enabling researchers and the general public alike to identify bird species by simply recording ambient sounds on their smartphones. This democratization of bioacoustic tools has major implications for sustainable land management and public engagement in conservation. Moreover, Project Dhvani isn't just about research—it's also about building a broader network of professionals committed to biodiversity conservation in India. The initiative is laying the groundwork for a national forum that brings together academics, civil society, and policymakers to scale up the use of conservation tech across India's varied ecosystems.Acoustic Insights into Land-Use Change and Tropical EcologyOne of the most compelling aspects of this conversation is the application of bioacoustics to study land-use change in tropical regions. By comparing soundscapes in organic and traditionally managed coffee farms, Project Dhvani is uncovering how different agricultural practices impact biodiversity management. These insights can inform more environmentally friendly farming techniques that align economic livelihoods with ecological health.India's vast and diverse environments offer fertile ground for remote sensing technology. However, Dr. Ramesh points out that most acoustic monitoring has focused on terrestrial habitats, with marine ecosystems remaining largely unexplored. Expanding bioacoustic research into marine environments could open new frontiers for biodiversity and conservation efforts.Challenges and Opportunities in Bioacoustic MonitoringWhile the future is promising, Project Dhvani faces its share of challenges. Funding constraints remain a major hurdle for research and long-term monitoring efforts. Additionally, there's a pressing need for more locally produced hardware to make bioacoustic tools more accessible across the Global South. Despite these obstacles, the team remains optimistic, fueled by growing interest from interdisciplinary collaborators and private sector supporters committed to advancing conservation technology.Dr. Ramesh emphasizes the importance of collaboration—not only with fellow scientists but also with citizens, NGOs, and government agencies. By pooling resources and knowledge, the conservation community can scale up passive remote sensing initiatives to safeguard ecosystems under threat from climate change, urbanization, and deforestation.A Call to Action: Join the Soundscape RevolutionListeners interested in contributing to Project Dhvani's mission can do so in multiple ways. Whether you're a student, a tech enthusiast, or a professional in the private sector, there's room to collaborate. As biodiversity conservation becomes increasingly intertwined with technology, the need for innovative minds and diverse perspectives has never been greater.By decoding the symphony of life through sound, Project Dhvani is forging a path toward more inclusive, data-driven, and ecologically sensitive management of India's natural heritage. Tune in to discover how animal sounds and acoustic signatures can become powerful tools in the fight to preserve the planet's most fragile ecosystems.Key Topics Covered:* The science and promise of bioacoustics* The role of passive remote sensing in ecosystem monitoring* Impacts of forest restoration on animal vocalization patterns* AI in conservation: BirdNET and Merlin as tools for engagement* Case studies from Central India and the Tropical Western Ghats* Addressing land-use change, habitat loss, and climate change* Building a national network for biodiversity managementSuggested Listening Companion: Stick around after the episode for Anish's recommended reads on ecological balance and rewilding, including:* Rewilding: The Radical New Science of Ecological Recovery by Paul Jepson and Cain Blythe* Rewilding Africa: The Restoration of Wilderness on a War-Ravaged Continent* Wilder: How Rewilding is Transforming Conservation and Changing the WorldMeet the HostAnish Banerjee: https://x.com/anishwildlifeThink Wildlife Foundation: https://thinkwildlifefoundation.com/Meet the GuestsDr. Vijay Ramesh: https://vijayramesh.com/posts/2024-04-14-conservation-bioacoustics/Project Dhvani: https://e3b.columbia.edu/field-notes/project-dhvani/Recommended Wildlife Conservation BooksWildlife Conservation in India by HS Pabla: https://amzn.to/3Ypx9ZhIndian Mammals: A Field Guide by Vivek Menon: https://amzn.to/4fhMiCLAt the Feet of Living Things by Aparajita Datta: https://amzn.to/3BZmtsN#bioacoustic #bioacoustics #animalvocalization #animalsounds #remotesensing #passiveremotesensing #remotesensingtechnology #conservationtech #conservationtechnology #forestrestoration #reforestation #climatechange #tropicalecology #ecologicalbalance #ecosystemprocesses #landusechange #habitatloss #ecosystemmanagement #sustainablelandmanagement #biodiversityandconservation #biodiversitymanagement #biodiversityconservation #biodiversityhotspot Get full access to The Think Wildlife Podcast at anishbanerjee.substack.com/subscribe

In this episode, Ishreen reflects on the key insights and developments in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging 3.0 (DEIB 3.0) from 2024. She emphasises the transition from awareness to practical implementation of DEIB principles within organizations, highlighting the strong correlation between DEIB practices and employee well-being. Ishreen explores the importance of neurodiversity, the role of artificial intelligence in promoting fairness in recruitment, and the potential pitfalls of biased AI systems. She also addresses the challenges faced by companies in maintaining DEIB initiatives amidst changing legislation and stresses the necessity of integrating DEIB into core business strategies. Looking ahead, Ishreen shares exciting trends and encourages business leaders to embrace DEIB 3.0 as a fundamental driver for organizational success and innovation. KEY TAKEAWAYS The focus has shifted from merely raising awareness about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) to practical, everyday implementation within organizational structures and processes. There is a strong correlation between DEIB practices and employee well-being, with authentic self-expression leading to improved job satisfaction and performance. Recognizing and valuing different cognitive styles enhances problem-solving and innovation within organizations, demonstrating that diverse thinking can drive productivity and product development. Artificial intelligence can play a significant role in promoting fairness and inclusion in hiring processes, but it must be implemented carefully to avoid biases, as seen in the case of Amazon's recruitment practices. Embracing DEIB 3.0 is essential for organizational success, innovation, and talent acquisition, positioning companies to thrive in a diverse global marketplace rather than treating DEIB as a compliance or public relations issue. BEST MOMENTS "It's not just about talking the talk anymore. It's about walking the walk and making real changes in how our organizations operate day to day." "When folks can be themselves without pretending, they're much happier and they do better work." "DEIB needs to be a part of everything a company does all the time." "Embracing these principles is not merely a matter of compliance or public relations. It's a fundamental driver for organizational success, for innovation, and for talent acquisition." "It's not just about being nice. It's about building seriously successful, innovative companies." In this episode of The LinkedIn Ads Show, host AJ Wilcox explores the evolution of LinkedIn Ads, the perception challenges it has faced, and how new advancements in measurement tools are changing the game. AJ takes a deep dive into LinkedIn's Measurement Insights Tool, detailing its features, functionality, and how it can provide better attribution and campaign insights for B2B marketers. Key Discussion Points: The Evolution of LinkedIn Ads: LinkedIn Ads historically faced criticism for being expensive and underdeveloped compared to competitors. Recent years have seen exponential growth in platform adoption as B2B marketers recognize the unmatched targeting and traffic quality LinkedIn offers. LinkedIn's investment in advanced measurement tools is a game-changer, aiming to prove the platform's value beyond cost. Introducing the Measurement Insights Tool: Overview: LinkedIn is rolling out a new tool called the Measurement Insights Tool, accessible via the “Measurement” tab in Campaign Manager. Stages: The tool organizes data into funnel stages—Awareness, Consideration, Conversion, and Revenue—based on campaign objectives and CRM integration. Features and Insights: Performance Chart: Visualizes campaign performance metrics (e.g., impressions, clicks, cost per click, leads) over time. Company Funnel Analysis: Tracks companies through funnel stages based on engagement and CRM data. Top Performing Audiences: Identifies high-performing audience segments by seniority, job function, location, and company size. Top Performing Ads and Campaigns: Highlights ads and campaigns generating the highest results for specific objectives, though efficiency metrics are not prioritized. Advanced Attribution: LinkedIn analyzes the last 50 touchpoints (impressions and clicks) per member, allocating credit for conversions across funnel stages. The tool relies on LinkedIn-specific attribution models but encourages comparison with external attribution systems. Opportunities and Limitations: While the tool offers valuable high-level insights, it lacks the ability to drill down into specific campaigns or ads for deeper analysis. It's a strong starting point but requires further refinement to become more actionable for advertisers. Why You Should Listen: Learn how to leverage the new Measurement Insights Tool to improve campaign strategy and attribution. A great no-cost way to support us: Rate/Review! In this episode of The LinkedIn Ads Show, host AJ Wilcox dives into strategies for nurturing cold audiences on LinkedIn to prepare them for meaningful engagement and high-conversion offers. If you've struggled with converting cold traffic into sales-ready leads, this episode walks you through how to build a multi-stage funnel using LinkedIn Ads retargeting features. Key Discussion Points: Why Cold Audiences Need Nurturing: Most cold audiences (95%) aren't ready to engage with sales reps or bottom-of-funnel offers. Nurturing involves multiple retargeting stages to move prospects down the funnel, warming them up to higher-friction calls to action. Building a Multi-Stage Funnel: Stage 1 (Cold Traffic): Use LinkedIn's native audience targeting to reach cold audiences who align with your ideal customer profile. Stage 2 (First Retargeting): Retarget website visitors, company page visitors, and ad engagers from Stage 1. Apply targeting "guardrails" like seniority, job function, or industry to refine the audience. Stage 3 (Hot Traffic): Retarget prospects from Stage 2 who have engaged meaningfully. These are primed for bottom-of-funnel offers like demos or sales calls. Best Practices for Funnel Organization: Use a campaign naming convention like S01, S02, S03 to clearly identify funnel stages in your account and ensure they're sorted alphabetically. Exclude retargeting audiences from the previous stage to avoid overlap and ensure prospects graduate down the funnel. Retargeting Audience Management: Create retargeting audiences based on specific engagements (e.g., video views, document interactions). Combine smaller audiences (e.g., website visitors + company page visitors) to ensure they hit the 300-member minimum for ads to serve. Budget Considerations: A multi-stage funnel works best with a monthly budget of $5,000 or more, though smaller budgets are possible with longer ramp-up times. Testing and Optimization: Run bottom-of-funnel offers in earlier stages as a test to gauge audience readiness. If Stage 3 doesn't yield high conversion rates, adjust ad messaging to clearly communicate value and reduce friction. Recent LinkedIn Updates: LinkedIn Wire Beta: Advertise as pre-roll videos on high-trust publisher content like Bloomberg and Forbes. Holiday Ad Tips: Lower competition during the holidays results in reduced CPCs and CPLs, making it an opportune time to run campaigns. Pro Tips: Take advantage of seasonal or holiday-themed campaigns for better engagement. Use organic posts from company representatives to complement paid ads, especially during events. In a powerful sermon titled “The Certainty of Hope, ‘I will not be shaken'”, Pastor Lavetta Pope shares her transformative experience with Foundations 4 Orphans (F40) and Zoe Empowers during her mission trip to Mozambique. She vividly narrates how these organizations are not merely about aid but empowering children and families to overcome the despair of poverty through self-sufficiency and hope. Pastor Pope discusses the essence of Christian compassion and empowerment, emphasizing that true neighborly love extends beyond immediate circles to anyone in need, as commanded in Mark 12:29-31. This aligns perfectly with New Hope's commitment to being Rooted in God's Word, Renewed by the Holy Spirit, and Reaching the World for Jesus Christ. Through her experiences, Pastor Pope illustrates the profound impact of viewing mission work as an opportunity to serve and transform lives, not just within the community but globally. Her message encourages us to participate in missions and support organizations like F40 and Zoe Empowers, thus living out our faith and spreading the love and hope of Christ effectively. In this solo episode, Michelle tackles a deeply challenging issue many women face: hostile workplaces. From subtle microaggressions to outright discrimination, hostile environments can undermine confidence, drain emotional energy, and hinder career progression. Michelle breaks down practical strategies to protect yourself, build resilience, and—if necessary—find your way out. This episode is filled with actionable advice on how to survive and thrive even in the most difficult work environments.Key Takeaways:1. Understand What a Hostile Workplace Is: Hostile environments are more than just overt harassment—they include subtle behaviors like exclusion, being passed over for key projects, or being assigned non-promotable tasks.2. Build a Network: Don't isolate yourself. Find allies and accomplices both inside and outside your workplace who can offer support and validation.3. Document Everything: Keep detailed records of hostile behaviors, including dates, times, what was said, and how it made you feel. This can serve as crucial evidence if you need to escalate the issue.4. Know Your Rights: Familiarize yourself with workplace policies and legal protections like the Respect @ Work legislation in Australia. Know what resources and recourse are available to you.5. Develop Emotional Resilience: Take care of your mental and physical health by practicing self-care, and don't hesitate to seek professional support if needed.6. Evaluate Your Options: If the hostility continues, decide whether escalating the issue or leaving the organization is the best path for you. Be prepared with an exit strategy.7. Prepare for an Exit: Continuously network and keep your LinkedIn updated. Having options and an exit strategy will empower you, even if you don't immediately leave.Call to Action:Join the Lead to Soar network for access to weekly group coaching sessions where women from all over the world come together for support and advice on navigating their careers. If you found this episode helpful, please share it with someone who might benefit from these strategies.Additional Resources:Lead to Soar Network Respect @ Work Legislation (Australia) Hour of Power Group Coaching Hosted on Acast. In this 15-minute episode, I share my final thoughts on the recent decisions made by Beachbody, which left their network of distributors feeling blindsided. I draw a powerful comparison to a toxic relationship, where one is caught off guard by divorce papers, only to be presented with a new proposal that feels disingenuous. The shift feels like being offered a "friends with benefits" scenario rather than a genuine partnership. Key Topics Discussed: - The emotional impact of Beachbody's recent changes on its community of distributors. - Comparisons between the situation and a toxic relationship or divorce. - Reflecting on the love for Beachbody and its offerings, including: - P90X - Turbo Fire - PiYo - 21 Day Fix - The contributions of leaders like Chalene Johnson, Tony Horton, Shaun T, and Autumn Calabrese. Keywords: Network Marketing, MLM, Beachbody, P90X, Turbo Fire, PiYo, 21 Day Fix, Chalene Johnson, Tony Horton, Shaun T, Autumn Calabrese. In this episode of the EntrePastors Podcast, Jon and Les talk with Tim Walker about his incredible church planting journey as well as an exciting business he is building.Tim planted Restored Church 12 years ago in Wilkes Barre, PA. Tim describes Restored Church as an urban church that is primarily of and for the poor. They've seen God do incredible things including never having a Sunday yet without new people, they've celebrated over 200 baptisms, and their church is primarily filled with first generation Christians that Jesus has rescued out of addiction, prision, prostitution, gangs, satanism, atheism, and everything else in between. On the business side, time has launched Travel Multiplier, a business that teaches people how to do Travel Hacking. For many years in ministry Tim's family barely made enough to live on, let alone travel for fun and recreation. That all changed when Tim learned how to earn thousands of dollars of free travel through a strategic process called Travel Hacking (no time-shares, pyramid schemes, or bait & switch gimmicks involved!) Once Tim mastered this process for himself and his family, he started helping some other family and friends enjoy the same types of results. Then he realized he could turn it into a knowledge-based business that could generate real income for his family. Now through his business he teaches others how to do Travel Hacking through an on-demand course and one-on-one personalized coaching.Guest Info/Links:Website: https://www.travelmultiplier.com/ Call to Action:Join our free Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/entrepastorsconnect

Show Notes: Episode Summary In this episode of The LinkedIn Ads Show, host AJ Wilcox shares his comprehensive playbook for promoting your presence at in-person events like trade shows and conferences using LinkedIn Ads. If you're looking to make a significant impact at your next event, this episode provides actionable insights on how to effectively target attendees, choose the right ad formats, and optimize your promotion strategy. Key Discussion Points: Targeting Event Attendees: List Targeting: Use contact lists or company lists of attendees to reach them directly. If you don't have a list, use LinkedIn's native targeting to reach professionals in the city where the event is being held. Geographic Targeting: Target the city of the event using LinkedIn's recent or permanent geography feature to reach attendees and professionals temporarily in the area. Choosing the Right Ad Formats: Conversation Ads and Click-to-Message Ads: These offer a personalized, VIP invitation feel, perfect for inviting attendees to special events or meetups. Thought Leader Ads: Promote posts from company representatives about attending the event. These ads tend to achieve higher engagement rates than standard company posts. Single Image Sponsored Content: Ideal for driving traffic to your landing page, as you only pay for clicks that lead to your website. Text Ads: A cost-effective way to keep your brand top of mind, especially for desktop users. What to Promote: Promote special events, presentations, or booth activities, such as product demos, giveaways, or exclusive meetups. Unique draws like F1 simulators or free drinks can increase traffic to your booth. Timing Your Promotions: Pre-Event: Advertise in the weeks leading up to the event to get on attendees' calendars. Use personal invites and offer benefits to encourage meetings. During the Event: Target attendees and professionals in the city with your ads. Consider using a mix of list targeting and native targeting. Post-Event: Retarget individuals who interacted with your ads during the event to keep them engaged with your brand. Bonus: Organic Promotion Tips: Encourage company representatives to post about attending the event, including any special offers or activities. Post a wrap-up after the event, acknowledging key takeaways and tagging attendees or speakers to increase shares and engagement. Recent LinkedIn Updates: Changes to how LinkedIn counts impressions and clicks for video ads, now excluding actions taken before the video starts playing. Updates to sponsored messaging metrics, separating them from impressions and clicks in Campaign Manager. Call to Action: Join the LinkedIn Ads Fanatics community for in-depth courses, expert advice, and weekly group calls. Subscribe to the podcast for more insights, and leave a review on Apple Podcasts to share your feedback and experiences.
