In 1994, Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear weapons. As part of the deal, Russia and the U.S. agreed to “respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine . . . and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defense.” Putin has embarked on a full-scale invasion of the country with the clear intention of overturning its government and taking over the country. Yet, there are many in the U.S., including Fox News' Tucker Carlson, who sound like Putin apologists in their coverage of the war. We speak to Dan Kovalik, author of “The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Russia.” He helps explain that thinking and its connection to the Russia-Trump collusion hoax.Support Hidden Truth Show by going to https://www.patreon.com/HiddenTruthShow and pledging just $5/month and receive access to Jim and special content and a Hidden Truth cap!Website: http://www.hiddentruthshow.comFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/hiddentruthshowInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/hiddentruthshow
The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Russia By Daniel Kovalik PUBLIUS GUEST AUTHOR: Daniel Kovalik, is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh, and author of The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Russia. An in-depth look at the decades-long effort to escalate hostilities with Russia and what it portends for the future. Ambassador: Putin 'doesn't give sh*t about sanctions'... What created new, more aggressive Putin... BIDEN WARNS PUTIN Since 1945, the US has justified numerous wars, interventions, and military build-ups based on the pretext of the Russian Red Menace, even after the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of 1991 and Russia stopped being Red. In fact, the two biggest post-war American conflicts, the Korean and Vietnam wars, were not, as has been frequently claimed, about stopping Soviet aggression or even influence, but about maintaining old colonial relationships. Similarly, many lesser interventions and conflicts, such as those in Latin America, were also based upon an alleged Soviet threat, which was greatly overblown or nonexistent. And now the specter of a Russian Menace has been raised again in the wake of Donald Trump's election. The Plot to Scapegoat Russia examines the recent proliferation of stories, usually sourced from American state actors, blaming, and manipulating the threat of Russia, and the long history of which this episode is but the latest chapter. It will show readers two key things: (1) the ways in which the United States has needlessly provoked Russia, especially after the collapse of the USSR, thereby squandering hopes for peace and cooperation; and (2) how Americans have lost out from this missed opportunity, and from decades of conflicts based upon false premises. These revelations, amongst other, make The Plot to Scapegoat Russia one of the timeliest reads of our time. Dan Kovalik, human rights & labor lawyer and author of “The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Putin,” among others, talks to us about federal agents searching the Manhattan apartment and office of Rudy Giuliani, whether the allegations of lobbying Ukrainian officials tell the whole story behind this, and what could come out of this investigation. We also talk about J20 protesters, who will expect payouts from the government after their detainment, and how new security bills being floated in Congress can further stifle free speech and activism. Chris Garaffa, web developer, technologist, security and privacy consultant, joins us in a conversation about how the Department of Defense buying up a lot of IP space on the internet, and whether this could be used as a testing ground for cyberweaponry and surveillance. We also talk about Apple’s new rules that allegedly protect privacy, but instead works within a proprietary system that will actually enhance advertisers’ capability to harvest data from users, and how an application used by law enforcement to crack phones is vulnerable to hacking itself, raising concerns over the reliability of the data collected. Margaret Kimberley, editor and senior columnist at Black Agenda Report and author of the book "Prejudential: Black America and the Presidents," joins us to talk about the takeaways from Biden’s speech to Congress, how it was a spectacle with little substance, how its rhetoric obfuscated issues like healthcare and minimum wage reform, where no solution has been reached, and how the relationship with China was portrayed in the speech, raising concerns about a simmering conflict between the two nations. Sandra Jackson, President and CEO of House of Ruth, talks to us about the continued rise of domestic abuse in the United States, with 50 women being shot a month, how the pandemic has exacerbated domestic abuse due to victims being in quarantine and isolation, at times with their abuser, and suffering economic difficulties. We also talk about the work that House of Ruth is doing to alleviate this, and what we can do to end the cycle of violence.
Caleb Maupin, journalist and political analyst, joins us to talk about US foreign policy. US President Donald Trump is again beating the neoconservative war drums towards Iran as he blames the country for a recent rocket attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad. A massive military buildup in the Persian Gulf region could indicate a plan to circumvent US President-elect Joe Biden's plan to re-enter the Iran nuclear deal by starting a war prior to the inauguration. Also, we discuss the success and future of China's poverty elimination programs.Dr. Jack Rasmus, professor in the Economics and Politics Departments at St. Mary's College of California, joins us to discuss US economics. Despite Congress appearing hopelessly lost and deadlocked when working on economic relief for everyday Americans, the House of Representatives united in a bipartisan veto override for the latest defense spending bill, and the Senate will vote on an override soon. Meanwhile, the $2,000 stimulus check is facing almost certain death at the hands of the extremely conservative Senate. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) promised to freeze the defense veto override pending a vote on the stimulus increase, but Democrats joined with Republicans to circumvent his plan. Dan Kovalik, lawyer, professor and author, joins us to discuss US policies towards Iran, Russia and Venezuela. Kovalik has the unique resume of writing a book about each of the subjects that we are addressing in this discussion: "The Plot to Overthrow Venezuela: How the US Is Orchestrating a Coup for Oil"; "The Plot to Attack Iran: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Iran"; and "The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Putin."Danny Haiphong, author and contributor to Black Agenda Report, teams up with Margaret Kimberley, editor and senior columnist at Black Agenda Report and author of "Prejudential: Black America and the Presidents," to discuss the main news issues of the week. Two new members of the US House of Representatives are refusing to reveal whether they will support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for another term. Also, Senate Democrats have allied with their GOP colleagues to spoil Sanders' plan to freeze the defense spending bill veto override pending a vote on the increased stimulus checks requested by Trump. Dan Lazare, investigative journalist and author of "The Velvet Coup," joins Jim Kavanagh, writer at The Polemicist and CounterPunch, to talk about foreign policy. Dan recently wrote an interesting article criticizing the media coverage of the "suspected" Russian hack and quickly found that it was blocked from most social media platforms. Also, the hacking story looks to be setting up the cybersecurity firms involved to cash in, as Biden has pronounced Russia the culprit and pledged to dramatically increase spending to address such issues in the future.
On today's episode of Loud & Clear, Brian Becker is joined by Jim Kavanagh, the editor of thepolemicist.net, and Sputnik News analysts and producers Walter Smolarek and Nicole Roussell.Friday is Loud & Clear’s weekly hour-long segment The Week in Review, about the week in politics, policy, and international affairs. Today they focus on the many dimensions of the crisis between the United States and Iran. Iraqi prime minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has now said the US must set up a mechanism to remove US troops from Iraq, though the state department has rejected the appeal. Meanwhile, there are accusations circulating about what happened to the Ukrainian commercial aircraft that crashed with 176 casualties. Dan Kovalik, a human rights and labor lawyer who is the author of the book, “The Plot to Attack Iran: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Iran,” and Mazda Majidi, an author, journalist and anti-war activist, join the show. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has issued a lot of statements lately. He condemned last week’s vandalism of the US Embassy in Baghdad. He strongly supported the US murder of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. He warned against Iranian retaliation for that murder. Is Boris Johnson assuming the role that Tony Blair did before him? Is he simply a British mouthpiece for the US president? Brian speaks with Neil Clark, a journalist and broadcaster whose work has appeared in The Guardian, The Week, and Morning Star. Hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets in France yesterday in support of the struggle against pension cuts pushed by President Emmanuel Macron. Strikes by transportation workers, the backbone of the anti-pension reform movement continue today and are among the longest in French history. Gilbert Mercier, Editor in Chief of News Junkie Post and the author of “The Orwellian Empire,” joins the show. Voters in Taiwan are going to the polls tomorrow for presidential and parliamentary elections that could have a profound impact on world politics. The anti-mainland incumbent President Tsai Ing-wen is favored to win, setting the stage for possible confrontation with China. Bob Schlehuber, the producer of Radio Sputnik’s By Any Means Necessary, which is on from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day on 105.5 FM and 1390 AM in the Washington, DC area, and who is in Taiwan to cover the election, joins Brian. It’s Friday! So it’s time for the week’s worst and most misleading headlines. Brian and John speak with Steve Patt, an independent journalist whose critiques of the mainstream media have been a feature of his site Left I on the News and on twitter @leftiblog, and Sputnik producer Nicole Roussell.

My guest today is labor and human rights attorney Dan Kovalik. Dan teaches international human rights law at the University of Pittsburgh and is the author of a number of books including “The Plot to Attack Iran: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Iran” and soon to be released, “The Plot to Overthrow Venezuela: How the U.S. Is Orchestrating a Coup for Oil”. We discuss the ways the US is working to start wars in Iran and Venezuela and our nation's utter disregard for international law - when it applies to us at least.
John Shuck speaks with University of Pittsburgh Law Professor, Daniel Kovalik about the war drums beating against Iran. We discuss his myth-dispelling book about Iran, The Plot to Attack Iran: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Iran. He is also the author of The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Russia, and The Plot to Control the World: How the U.S. Spent Billions to Change the Outcome of Elections Around the World. "The world has a lot of questions about the current state of affairs between the United States and Iran… *How has the US undermined democracy in Iran?*Is Iran really trying to develop nuclear weapons?*How has US waged a terror campaign against Iran for years?*How is it that the US and Israel, rather than Iran, are destabilizing the Middle East?*How has Iran helped the US in the war on terror? "Using recently declassified documents and memos, as well as first-hand experience of the country, critically-acclaimed author Dan Kovalik will change the way you think about Iran, and especially what you think of US interference there. Learn how the United States vilifies its enemies, and accuses them of unspeakable horror to mask its own terrible crimes. Not only does the illuminating and important The Plot to Attack Iran delve into the current incendiary situation, but it also predicts what could happen next, and what needs to be done before it is too late." Bio: Daniel Kovalik is Senior Associate General Counsel of the United Steelworkers, AFL-CIO (USW). He has worked for the USW since graduating from Columbia Law School in 1993. While with the USW, he has served as lead counsel on cutting-edge labor law litigation, including the landmark NLRB cases of Lamons Gasket and Specialty Health Care. He has also worked on Alien Tort Claims Act cases against The Coca-Cola Company, Drummond and Occidental Petroleum – cases arising out of egregious human rights abuses in Colombia. Mills Mentoring Fellowship from Stanford University School of Law and was the recipient of the Project Censored Award for his article exposing the unprecedented killing of trade unionists in Colombia. He has written extensively on the issue of international human rights and U.S. foreign policy for the Huffington Post and Counterpunch and has lectured throughout the world on these subjects. The Beloved Community is broadcast LIVE on the second Friday from 9-10 am PACIFIC on KBOO/Portland, 90.7.
Dan Kovalik joins us today to talk about the situation in Venezuela. US officials and almost all media outlets have made claims about the illegitimacy of the Venezuelan presidential election last May, using that claim to recognize a little known opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, as the new interim president, replacing President Nicolás Maduro. Dan begs to differ with that characterization, having witnessed that election process, up close, while he was on the ground in Venezuela as an election monitor. He shares that experience with us today and many other insights on the country, the region, and the media coverage and politics around it here in the United States. Daniel Kovalik is a labor and human rights lawyer, a peace activist, an author and a college professor. He teaches International Human Rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. The Christian Science Monitor described him as “one of the most prominent defenders of Colombian workers in the United States” in reference to his work defending Colombian unionists under threat of assassination. He is the recipient of the Project Censored Award for his work exposing the killing of trade unionists in Colombia. He has done interviews and written articles for many different media sites including Counterpunch and the Huffington Post. He has recently written three books, including The Plot to Control the World: How the US Spent Billions to Change the Outcome of Elections Around the World, which was published last November. Welcome to the radio magazine that brings you news, commentary and analysis from a Black Left perspective. I’m Glen Ford, along with my co-host Nellie Bailey. Coming up: A new book maintains that the real Russiagate conspirators are the CIA and the Deep State, which concocted the allegations in order to destroy any chance of peace with Moscow: Activists fighting for Community Control of the Chicago police have targetted virtually the entire city council for ouster in the next elections; and, the American Public Health Association endorses treating police violence as a national public health issue. The Southern Human Rights Organizers Conference gathered its forces for a conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this past weekend. Black Agenda Report was there. The Mueller investigation into the so-called Russiagate scandal is reported to be nearing a conclusion, but after two years, there’s still no hard evidence of collusion between Wikileaks, the Russian government and the Trump election campaign. Dan Kovalik is a longtime activist and author, whose new book is titled, “The Plot to Scapegoat Russia: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Putin.” Kovalik says the spinners of the Russiagate tale are ginning up war fever, trying to destroy any chance that a peace movement will re-emerge in the United States. Activists in Chicago are building on their unprecedented recent victory, with the murder conviction of the white cop that killed Laquan McDonald. Frank Chapman is a veteran community organizer with the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. He reflects on the state of the movement since the rebellion in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014 Hah-Day Rivera is an activist with Critical Resistance, a group of health professionals and anti-policing organizations that recently got the American Public Health Association to endorse the principle of treating police violence as a public health issue. Ms. Rivera is co-author of the ground-breaking report that convinced the Association that fundamental changes need to be made in how policing is done in the United States.
