If you've ever felt like therapy wasn't for you or wondered how it could be more engaging and personalized, this episode is for anyone looking to reimagine mental health support with creativity and authenticity. More info, resources & ways to connect - https://www.tacosfallapart.com/podcast-live-show/podcast-guests/jessica-medina In this episode of Even Tacos Fall Apart, Jessica Ehrman, a registered associate marriage and family therapist, shares her journey into the mental health field and how she's breaking the mold with innovative, engaging approaches to therapy. With a master's degree from Pepperdine University and a passion for pop culture, Jessica focuses on making therapy a space where clients feel safe, seen and excited to grow. Jessica didn't take a conventional route into mental health—her interest initially lay in forensic psychology, inspired by an early fascination with serial killers and cult leaders. However, life had other plans. A business course and a love for abnormal psychology shifted her focus, and her career path ultimately landed her in therapy, where she discovered how to weave her unique interests and creativity into her practice. Jessica's therapeutic approach is anything but traditional. From integrating video games like Animal Crossing and Call of Duty to using pop culture references like Inside Out, Jessica ensures that her sessions resonate with clients of all ages. She emphasizes that therapy isn't about “fixing” people or doling out advice; it's about giving people the tools and space to navigate life's challenges. “Therapy doesn't have to be boring,” she says, and she proves it by creating a dynamic environment where clients can explore their emotions in ways that feel natural and relatable. One of the standout moments in the episode is Jessica's story about a selectively mute child who found his voice through therapy sessions centered around Roblox. By meeting him in his comfort zone, Jessica helped him progress from nonverbal communication to confidently speaking 200 words per session. It's stories like these that highlight the importance of creative and individualized therapy approaches. Jessica also shares her thoughts on the misconceptions surrounding therapy. Too often, people think of therapists as stone-faced, suit-clad figures who ask detached questions like, “How does that make you feel?” She's here to break that stereotype. Jessica embraces her authentic self - brightly colored hair, tattoos, and a personality that's as loud as it is compassionate - and encourages her clients to do the same. Throughout the conversation, Jessica touches on themes like the importance of building rapport, the power of play in therapy, and the challenges of telehealth. While teletherapy has its perks, like eliminating commutes, it can also bring unique obstacles, from tech issues to the struggle to maintain work-life boundaries. Still, Jessica adapts and thrives, finding ways to make meaningful connections even over video calls. The episode wraps up with Jessica offering valuable advice: therapy should be a place you look forward to, not dread. If you don't feel comfortable with your therapist, it's okay to find someone else who feels like a better fit. Jessica's passion for her work and her commitment to helping clients rediscover their inner child and individuality shine throughout the episode, making it clear that therapy really doesn't have to be boring - it can be a space of growth, healing and even fun. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mommafoxfire/support

Dr. Bart Ehrman claims that Matthew made a translation error and misunderstood the original context of Isaiah 7:14. If Matthew had known Hebrew and understood the context, he would have known that Isaiah was not prophesying a "virgin birth." If Dr. Ehrman is true, that means the Gospel story of Jesus is built on a lie. What is the truth? Find out in this in-depth investigation. More info, resources & ways to connect - https://www.tacosfallapart.com/podcast-live-show/podcast-guests/jessica-medina-2 In this episode of Even Tacos Fall Apart, MommaFoxFire interviews Jessica Medina (formerly Ehrman), a registered associate marriage and family therapist. The episode centers around self-love, self-care and burnout, with Jessica offering insights from her experiences both as a therapist and as an individual. Jessica highlights the importance of practicing self-love, describing it as a mindset of appreciating oneself, and self-care as the practical actions that support that mindset. She emphasizes that these two concepts are intertwined, and you cannot have true self-care without first practicing self-love. Throughout the conversation, Jessica shares her personal experiences, including an encounter where she had to fire her therapist after feeling unsupported during a difficult time. This story serves as a reminder that it's okay to prioritize personal needs in therapy and seek out a therapist who truly supports you. Jessica stresses the importance of open communication with therapists before making drastic decisions, as therapy should be a collaborative process. The discussion also touches on the impact of relationships on self-care and self-love, whether it be with romantic partners, children or colleagues. Jessica explains how boundaries play a critical role in maintaining one's emotional wellbeing and how they help in balancing personal needs with those of others. She offers tips for managing these dynamics, such as modeling self-care behaviors for children and ensuring that significant others understand the importance of personal space and mental health. Burnout is another key focus of the episode. Jessica describes burnout as a chronic state of stress that accumulates over time when self-care is neglected. She shares her own signs of burnout, such as neglecting basic hygiene and feeling emotionally overwhelmed. The conversation also covers how to recognize burnout through physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms. Jessica encourages listeners to be mindful of these signs and to take proactive steps, like self-care check-ins, to avoid reaching a state of exhaustion. Jessica also provides practical advice for combating negative self-talk, offering an intervention that involves writing down positive affirmations on post-it notes as a way to retrain the brain. The episode ends with a light-hearted discussion about how Jessica finds self-care in activities like playing video games, and how she uses pop culture-based therapy methods, including video games like Roblox and Animal Crossing, to connect with her clients. Overall, this episode encourages listeners to prioritize their mental health by practicing both self-love and self-care, setting boundaries and recognizing the signs of burnout before it escalates. Jessica's down-to-earth and relatable approach makes the conversation engaging, informative and insightful for anyone looking to enhance their mental well-being. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mommafoxfire/support

I'm excited to introduce you to today's guest, Josselyne Herman-Saccio. Josselyne is someone I've recently had the pleasure of meeting through a mutual friend, and from the moment we connected, I knew her story and approach to life would resonate with you. Josselyne's journey is nothing short of inspiring. She started out as an aspiring singer, only to be told by her father that art couldn't be a career. Yet, just a few years later, she landed a record deal and had a number one hit. What I love about Josselyne's story is her unwavering commitment to pursuing her dreams, even in the face of doubt. In our conversation, we'll unpack what it means to be “unmessable with,” a powerful concept Josselyne uses to describe the ability to stay grounded in your vision, no matter what life throws your way. For over 25 years, Josselyne has worked with creatives, entrepreneurs, and high achievers, helping them break through limiting beliefs and take actions that truly align with their goals. Whether you're an artist, a business owner, or simply someone who feels stuck in your life, there are valuable lessons here that will help you move forward with more clarity and confidence.
Greetings, and welcome to Tomorrow's World, where we help you to make sense of your world through the pages of the Bible. We're glad you're here, and today's question is one of the most important questions you could ever ask: Is Jesus God? This question about Jesus is important. Estimates indicate around 2.4 billion people in the world claim Christianity as their religion—almost half-a-billion more than claim Islam and more than a billion more than claim Hinduism. Yet, even as almost one-third of the planet claims a religion centered on the person of Jesus Christ, many of those same people disagree on exactly who He really was. For some, even some claiming to be Christian, Jesus was simply a man—a Jewish teacher in the first century, who just happened to have an outsized impact on world culture. The late Shelby Spong, a bishop in the Episcopal Church, was quite famous for his stance that Jesus was not actually God, was not born from a virgin, and was never resurrected. Other religions claiming to be Christian teach different things about Jesus' divinity. Some teach that Jesus was a created being, like the angels. Some identify Him with the archangel Michael. Others claim that Jesus and the Devil were brothers in the past. And others, further, claim that Jesus and the Father are the very same person, and not two separate divine persons, at all. Outside of nominal Christianity, ideas vary, as well. Some religions consider Jesus to have been a holy man, or wise guru, or even a prophet, but not truly divine in the way God is divine. Others consider Him a manifestation of God, like an avatar, or some sort of ascended master in the manner of new age teachings. And then, there are those who don't think He ever existed—as if He were a figment of the imagination, or a fiction created in the first century to form the basis of a new religion. Perhaps we should tackle this question first, in the event some of you have been infected by this pernicious lie. There is abundant evidence that Jesus of Nazareth did, indeed, exist. Even if we treat the New Testament not as Scripture, but as a mere human product of history, just like Homer's Iliad or Caesar's commentaries, it provides abundant evidence that Jesus was a real person, going back to within two or three decades of His life. We even have a fragment from the gospel of John, the famous Rylands Library Papyrus P52, that dates back to within a handful of years after the Apostle John is believed to have written it. And, outside of the New Testament, a number of secular historical records refer to Jesus and the impact of His teachings and example in the first century. The contemporary Jewish historian Josephus, the Roman historian Tacitus, and Pliny the Younger all speak of Jesus Christ as a real person—much too early in the historical record for some imaginary account to have taken hold so profoundly. In fact, one of the most effective defenders of the very real existence of Jesus Christ is New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman. While Ehrman has publicly declared that he does not believe Jesus was divine, does not believe in the supernatural, and does not consider himself a Christian, he is just as clear that the evidence for Jesus' existence is overwhelming. Referring to those who claim Jesus' existence is just a myth, Ehrman writes, “It is fair to say that mythicists as a group, and as individuals, are not taken seriously by the vast majority of scholars in the field of New Testament, early Christianity, ancient history, and theology” (Did Jesus Exist? The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth, 2012. p. 20). In fact, almost all scholars, secular and religious alike, tend to agree. As Ehrman summarizes, “Despite the enormous range of opinion, there are several points on which virtually all scholars of antiquity agree. Jesus was a Jewish man, known to be a preacher and teacher, who was crucified (a Roman form of execution) in Jerusalem during the reign of the Roman emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea” (p. 12). In short, those who say that Jesus never existed should be taken as seriously as those who say the tooth fairy or Santa Claus do exist. Facts are facts. And the man Jesus of Nazareth did live and walk this earth around two thousand years ago in Judea, teaching around the Sea of Galilee and in Jerusalem. But is that where the story ends? A great teacher dies in His early thirties and just happens to have a religion founded in His name? Or was Jesus more than a man?

When Christians suggest that the Bible is without error, what does that actually mean? And are there really good reasons to believe that the Bible, (specifically the New Testament) is both historically reliable and inerrant? Critics like Bart Ehrman raise challenging and thought-provoking questions about contradictions in the Gospels and Jesus' resurrection, but are they true contradictions or just apparent contradictions? For this week's podcast, Frank sits down with author and Catholic apologist, Jimmy Akin, to talk about his recent debate with the well-known atheist and UNC Chapel Hill professor, Bart Ehrman. Serving as a senior apologist on Catholic Answers, Jimmy will unpack how he used his seasoned debate skills to graciously disarm his opponent while laying out a good case for New Testament reliability and exploring the standards of writing in the first century. During their conversation, Frank and Jimmy will answer questions like: Did the Gospel writers remember and record the exact words of Jesus? Did Jesus have a twin brother who appeared to the disciples after the Resurrection? How do undesigned coincidences point towards New Testament reliability? Why are some of the New Testament events seemingly out of chronological order? Why did Bart Ehrman transition from a conservative fundamentalist Protestant Christian to now identifying as an atheist/agnostic? As Jimmy shares his unique strategy in approaching his dialogue with Ehrman, he'll also drop some insight on the importance of understanding the Bible's historical context, clarify the difference between truth and precision, and touch on why there are a variety of writing styles among the New Testament authors. This laid back and light-hearted podcast episode comes jam-packed with apologetics knowledge bombs so grab your pen and paper and prepare to learn more about what it really means for the New Testament to be reliable! And be sure to watch Akin and Ehrman's full debate on his YouTube channel HERE along with his fascinating podcast, 'Mysterious World'.

Today, Ken shares his most recent Substack post. You'll find the full text here.Amipotence over Omnipotence - Love over ControlA fellow graduate of the Moody Bible Institute, Dr. Bart Ehrman, when he explains why he is no longer a Christian, points to the problem of theodicy. After years of academic study of the Christian Bible, for Ehrman, it was the problem of evil that pushed him right over the line. Like me, you know the conundrum - how can a God of love and absolute power co-exist with pervasive, inescapable evil? There were plenty of reasons for Ehrman to turn away from his evangelical Christian faith - but theodicy did him in.Continue reading...Ken's Substack Page | Become a PatronSupport the Show.

From 2016: In his new book ‘Go Is No Thing' Rupert Shortt argues that many ‘new atheists' have a faulty view of God that doesn't take seriously the philosophical arguments that thinkers like Thomas Aquinas gave many centuries ago for the existence of God. Unbelievable shows often benefit from a second listen and some even become classics. Today we are dipping into the concluding part of a conversation between noted Bible scholar Bart Ehrman and Richard Bauckham who debate each other with Justin Brierley in the hosting seat. This show was recorded following the publication of Ehrman's 2016 book "Jesus Before the Gospels". Bart Erhman recently debated Justin Bass on The Big Conversation which you can watch here. But in this show Bart Erhman makes the case that eyewitness testimony is very fallible and that the stories about Jesus that were written down in the Gospels would have changed shape over time. Noted scholar Richard Bauckham, author of "Jesus and the Eyewitnesses", disagrees and defends the trustworthiness of eyewitness testimony and addresses the question of how Jesus' sayings and stories would have been memorised and passed along. Coming soon the latest course from Premier Unbelievable Did it happen? The Birth of Jesus will explore Bauckman's work further on the veracity of the details of Jesus's birth in the Gospel accounts.
