Here's a really quick interview with Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, who star in the Filipino film My Love Will Make You Disappear! It is a fun rom-com with a fun premise and lots of ups and downs, tears and laughs. I got to take part of the press junket, and because of my work schedule I only have a few minutes to chat with the stars. My nerves got the best of me, but the stars were so gracious and charming, I hope you enjoy our quick chat. Go see My Love Will Make You Disappear if it's playing near you. It'll lift your spirits and make you believe in magic. Synopsis: Sari, a woman convinced she is cursed to make every man she loves disappear, meets Jolo, a despondent landlord looking for an escape from his heartbreak. As their paths intertwine, a connection blossoms, forcing them to confront their fears and decide if love is truly worth risking everything—even if it might disappear. The film is directed by Chad Vidanes. My Love Will Make You Disappear will be released in theaters in North America starting on March 28, 2025.

We woke up early to join our first press junket for the Filipino movie Hello, Love, Again! We had a quick chat with the movie's director, Cathy Garcia-Sampana. Direk Cathy is famous in the Philippines for directing some of the biggest rom-coms out of the country. Her 2019 film Hello, Love, Goodbye swept the nation and beyond, and became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time (at the time). The film features two of the island's biggest stars Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. You can watch part one on YouTube. The sequel: Hello, Love, Again, shows what has happened in the 5 years since Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) walks away from Ethan (Alden Richards). We don't know what to expect, but Direk Cathy says to put on your seatbelts and bring your tissues! It premiers in select cities on November 15th. If it's in your town, go buy a ticket and see what finally happened to our favorite love team! Thanks to Director Cathy and her team at the MRKT Co. for setting this up. Also thanks to: ABS-CBN Studios, GMA Pictures, and Star Cinema

On this episode of The Common, Boston Globe Climate Reporter Erin Douglas joins the show to discuss how many Boston neighborhoods are built on artificial land, putting them at risk of flooding due climate change. Then, Team Common takes over the WBUR kitchen with senior correspondent Deborah Becker. ____ If you listen to WBUR, you are probably familiar with Deb Becker's voice. You might have heard any number of her reports as a senior correspondent on issues like mental health, addiction and the criminal legal system. Or, maybe you're more familiar with her as a host on many WBUR Programs. But, we learned when she has some time away from her work Deb loves to cook. So, a little while back, Team Common took over the WBUR kitchen so Deb could show us how to make one of her signature summer side dishes, while also dishing about her love of food, and her long journalism career. ____ Deborah Becker's vegan summer orzo salad Ingredients: Fresh cherry tomatoes, halved Cucumbers, peeled, seeds removed and diced Scallions, roughly chopped One jar pitted calamari olives One can of garbanzo beans Fresh basil and parsley, chopped (lots of it!) A good olive oil Balsamic vinegar 1/2 teaspoon sugar Orzo Salt and pepper to season Instructions Bring a pot of water to boil, season boiling water with salt. Add orzo. While orzo cooks, prepare vegetables and herbs, combine in a large bowl. When orzo is cooked, strain and rinse under cold water until cooled. Coat lightly with olive oil to keep pasta from sticking together. Combine balsamic, olive oil and sugar in a small bowl to create a dressing Combine strained and cooled orzo with vegetables in bowl. Mix together with dressing and season with and salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy! Greater Boston's weekly podcast where news and culture meet.
